Rebuild Saga - Part 1
'Come on Gohan, you can do it! Push further!' Goku encourages his son who's in a beam struggle against Cell.
"I'm trying father." Gohan with one arm pushing forward with all of his strength, but is slipping by the minute as the Perfect Android gains momentum as time passes.
"You little pest is still trying to distract me!? Forget it!" In a surge of ki, Yamcha, Krillin, Tien, and Piccolo get swept away, no longer sending blasts towards Cell.
The evil Android smiles, as he now adding more power to his kamehameha, now putting Gohan on the ropes.
"Gohan…" Piccolo slowly rises up, seeing the events before him.
"Say hello to your father for me!" With that Cell puts an end to the struggle as the Kamehameha blast travelling to the half saiyan quickly, as it engulfs him completely much to everyone's horror.
"DADDD-" It's all over, as Gohan is now gone with the trace of the blast getting sent to outer space with no trace left of the boy.
Vegeta's face looks on in horror, as well as the Z-fighters, realizing that it's all over.
Goku's hand left King Kai's shoulder, as he looked down with tears in his eyes. 'I'm sorry Gohan, everyone..I let y'all down..'
Cell looks at the broken heroes. "Fear not, y'all be joining young Gohan real soon." Arms crossed with an arrogant grin on his face.
The Z-fighters alert, Piccolo fist bolds up. His ki ignites his body as he charges at Cell but to no avail, as the Android fist went through the Nameks heart, which the Namekian fell lifeless.
Pleasure overwhelming his body, he simply charges up, simply exploding everyone in his wake, leaving no trace of anyone left.
On the lookout, Dende and felt helpless, "Gohan, everyone!" Dende yells, saddened at the losses they suffered.
With the debris cleared, all there stood was Cell in the middle of where his Cell games took place, also where the fallen Z-fighters once stood.
"Hehe, perfection never felt this good." Throwing a few punches, as if he was testing the speed.
"Yes, so many more solar systems, life forces to terrify. Hmm?" Sensing a ki signature nearby still, it would be the once bandit king Yamcha, who's gi is torn but still having life left in him.
Cell, amused, walks towards the fallen human, lifting him up by his neck. "I'm impressed. A weakling like you actually survived." Yamcha with one eye open looks down at the bio-droid, arms dangling, helpless to do anything else.
He would frown at the Earthling, before dropping him. "Pathetic." He begins to levitate.
"Wait..why didn't you finish me off just now?" Not understanding his logic, but then he would hear laughs.
Spitting next to the scar bandit. "And why would I? You're no threat to me, even Krillin posed a bigger threat than you, be grateful I pity you." Not even looking the human way.
"Damn you, why keep me alive if you're gonna destroy Earth anyway!?" He doesn't have Vegeta pride, but to be taken pity by the cruel Android was too much to bear.
Good question, ever since Cell came back he realized his purpose, but also his desire to destroy the Earth wasn't as enjoyable as he thought it would be, in fact this Planet is technically his homeworld, his humble beginnings.
Yes, a Planet that will have a conscious reminder that he's out there somewhere and can return anytime was quite pleasing.
"Don't question perfection, you insignificant creature." In an instant his knee lands on the spine of Yamcha as he coughs up blood, as his back is blown out from the hit.
Passed out from all of the pain as Cell gets off him. "Pitiful." Cell then laughs before putting his fingers to his head and disappears.
Hours have passed since then, Yamcha would wake up, opening his eyes as he saw Dende who has a calm look on his face.
"Green dude! Where am I?" Getting up this instant as he looks around, "Have I died?" But quickly realizing that everything around him was the same before he lost consciousness.
"My name Dende, and you're alive." Said the young Namekian. "Cell left you alive, once he left I hurried along to heal you." With that reminder, Yamcha felt sick to his stomach as everyone died.
On his knees as tears filled his eyes, "That monster..Where's Cell now?" Trying to shake himself up.
"He left the planet, but not before declaring his victory publicly, everyone is hysterical right now as you can imagine."
He nods his head, "Yeah, but-" He pauses right there from his sentence as he sees something in the distance, Dende notices too as both make their way to see what or who it is.
"Android 18?" Both said in sync, she would still be unconscious.
Panic would hit him for a moment until he remembers Krillin trying to protect her, and hearing him mention during their way for the Cell games, how she wasn't a bad person.
For a moment he was wondering if he should finish her off but in respect to his late friend, he grabs her, carrying her. "What's next Dende?" Not knowing what to do next.
"We gathered the dragonballs to bring everyone back to life after the fight with Cell, I don't see why we can't make that wish now?" Yamcha would smile as he heard the news.
"That's rad! Let's get going!"
Lookout
Yamcha, and the others are at the Lookout with the dragon balls collected.
Bulma holding the sleeping chibi Trunks steps forward. "Alright now better than ever I suppose." The blue haired woman said to no one in particular. "Shenron, we have summoned you!"
The sky turned dark, the people around the world started to panic even more, taking this as a sign that Cell changed his mind and was going to destroy the Earth.
Just then Shenron appears in front of the Earthlings on the lookout, in his giant mass.
"You have summoned me, you have 2 wishes, tell me what wishes you want me to grant!" That news got everyone surprised.
"Two wishes huh?" Bulma questioned, Dende spoke up.
"I was able to power up Shenron abilities, still not as powerful as Porunga, Shenron's previous limits are no longer a thing."
Roshi, holding his cane in hand. "That's perfect! After bringing our friends back to life, we can use a spare wish once one comes up." Everyone was ecstatic until they heard a familiar voice.
'Hey guys!' That voice belongs to Goku, as everyone was glad to hear him.
"Goku my man! I'm glad to hear from you again." He chuckles.
'Hey Yamcha, I want to say you're brave, to face Cell the way you had after everything was nothing but admiring.' Giving praise to his human friend.
Bulma is a little teary eye'd. "Ready to be brought back Goku!?" She happily questioned.
'About that..' He said solemnly.
He brought bad news, that he and his friends don't want to be brought back to alert Cell of their presence, and that it wouldn't do them any good as the result would just be the same as it was before.
Much to the dismay of Yamcha, Bulma, Roshi, Dende and .
Upset Bulma would argue, mainly to Vegeta but the Prince stays firm on the decision. Bulma would break down in tears as Yamcha tries his best to comfort her.
Moments passed since the news, Shenron still waiting for them to grant their wish.
"So..what now?" questioned Roshi, Bulma still sad, but no longer crying as she held onto Trunks tightly.
"I got an idea!" Dende suddenly said, getting everyone's attention. "How about we wish for a barrier to be placed on the Earth? We may not be strong enough to stop Cell but at least if something happens the planet can still be around."
Bulma nods, "That sounds good to me, I don't trust Cell one bit about not being interested in destroying the Planet." With that said, the first wish was made.
"Your wish has been granted, now you have 1 wish left to grant."
Everyone is wondering what the next wish should be. Best case scenario could save the wish for later and wait six months.
Yamcha, thinking about everyone that had died to Cell, and how helpless he was throughout the entire scenario, including memories flashing back when Vegeta and Nappa invaded Earth.
'This entire time I have been worthless, nothing but a burden. No more, Goku is no longer here to hold our hands or anyone else.'
Stepping up. "Shenron! My next wish is to have no limitations on my body when it comes to training, as long as I train there are no limits to my strength!" That wish got questionable looks.
The wish even sounds impossible, even Shenron had to take a moment to see if that's possible.
"Your wish has been granted! I granted all your wishes, farewell!" Shenron and the dragon balls scattered away.
Yamcha hadn't felt anything different. "Could have sworn I would feel slightly stronger."
"Well you wish to have no limits to your body, you won't feel anything until you train." Dende said that as Yamcha just chuckles rubbing his head sheepishly.
"Yamcha, what's your purpose for that wish? Even that won't do you any good when it comes to Cell, his power beyond logic." The scar'd human head is low.
"I know it sounds better than how it seems, but we only have ourselves, I would rather train fifty years and have a shot against that monster than simply wait in fear hoping Cell won't kill us."
Punching the ground, leaving a hole in one of the tiles. "Nothing worse than death is to be seen as trash and not worthy to be killed." Everyone is silent, but Yamcha isn't done.
"Besides, I won't let Cell get away with this, I'm from Turtle school like Goku, Krillin and Tien." His hand was bruised. "For now we fight for a New Future!"
Chibi Trunks would raise his little fist as if he understood what the scar human said, Bulma looks at her son with a smile before looking back at Yamcha, Roshi also has an approving smile on his face.
The blonde who was sleeping, slowly wakes up as her eyes open, looking around as she observes the group before her as they turn their attention towards her too.
Just then, Yamcha just waves. "Glad to see you're awake." but she simply doesn't respond, on guard.
"Where am I?" Knowing some of the faces due to her data from Doctor Gero.
"You're on the lookout, where the Earth guardian lives." Her eyes still wandered, she expected more faces to be around if she was at a sanctioned place like this.
"Shouldn't there be more of you guys? Last I know I was absorbed by Cell so why am I here?" She then notices the stung look on their faces by her first question, only adding to more confusion.
Yamcha explained that she was freed from Cell thanks to Gohan, something that pleases her.
"That explains that, but my first question?" He had his head down, then 18 got up and grabbed on his shirt." Answer damn it."
"Cell came back stronger than ever after Goku died and he killed the rest, all you see here is what remains." 18 then was shocked, as she fell back.
"Cell..killed everyone..?" Glimpses of Krillin flashed on her mind, as she remembered his smile. 17, her twin brother as well as 16 came to mind.
Suddenly she ran from the group and took off from the lookout.
Everyone was silent as the scene unfolded. This day will be remembered as the darkest time in Earth history.
7 years later
It's been 7 long years since Cell's victory over the Z-fighters. During the following years, the people on Earth tried to move on, while still paranoid and in fear of Cell's return, life became somewhat normal again as more time passed.
Orange star city, rebuilt is quite lively as the streets are busy, people are enjoying the festivities.
At a stadium, thousands of people are in attendance, it's a championship baseball game.
"Ladies and gentlemen, this is the last inning between the Orange Star Pirates and West City Capsule! And making his way is the best baseball player in the world Yamcha!" The hometown team would cheer, as he made his way out, greeting the fans holding his bat up in the air.
On his pitch he hit a homerun to win the championship as everyone celebrated, much to the human spectacular play.
Time went by, as he did his press, and signed autographs for fans. Leaving shortly after, taking a shower and getting dressed.
While his team is going to parties to celebrate, he would excuse himself as he was out in the parking lot that was met with two familiar faces.
"Trunks, Goten. Great seeing y'all here." He smiled at the boys, as they ran up to him.
"You were awesome, Yamcha." Goten said, "It amazes me how much you go from average to great when playing." This was remarked by Trunks, which Yamcha just smiled, not knowing if this was a compliment or not.
"Thanks guys, I'm surprised yall mothers let y'all come." He then froze up."Wait, do they know?" Looking at the two as they have poker faces.
"Uhh no, but hey it was your big day." Trunks said offhandedly, Yamcha remembered the last time dealing with both Chi-Chi and Bulma when they came to one of his games.
Quickly, he patted the boys on their heads. "Yeah, you two need to go home, and I guess I'm sleeping in a hotel tonight to avoid confrontation.
Entering his car, "Make sure you guys meet me at Kame house at 6 am sharp." They boys nodded as he took off to get some more training in.
Goten has been , Yamcha student for 2 years, he was revealed to him by Chi Chi as she wanted him to teach him how to fight. The news of Goku having a second son was mind boggling, especially the image of them looking the same.
Trunks, being Yamcha's student for 3 years, Bulma asks Yamcha to train him due to the boy's passion for fighting, a trait he obviously got from Vegeta, someone she misses dearly.
Due to her history with Yamcha, it was awkward at first to ask a man she once considered marrying to train the kid of a man she left him for, but luckily, Yamcha easily accepted to take him under his wing.
Later that night, Yamcha is seen training in his private quarters, which holds a training room he had Bulma design. Under 300x gravity something the human used to have trouble handling is able to move freely from the gravity pressure.
Ever since Cell's victory, he has been haunted by those words Cell told him as well the death of his closest friends. Day and night out he's been training nonstop, until Cell's inevitable return.
"Kaioken..times..20!" In a red splurge, Yamcha charges off and starts swinging punches in the air, moving to different sections of the room, feeling the strains on his body, giving out kicks before charging up a Kamehameha which destroys parts of the gravity chamber, before he calls it off.
Relenting from the Kaioken he fell face first, taking time to catch his breath.
Yamcha has a brief history of using the Kaioken when he was training under King Kai but didn't use it again due to the pressure it put on his body and during simpler times he was more focused on his baseball career and relied too much on Goku.
There's a lot of stuff he regrets in his life, but he can't waver not now especially with so many people that count on him now, especially those two young half Saiyans who are the future.
"Better not waste a senzu bean, and just relax in the healing chamber." He said to himself, as he slowly but surely started rehabilitating in said chamber.
Next day, at Kame house, Yamcha and the boys all wearing Turtle school orange gi, begin training on light exercises.
Master Roshi is watching them along with the turtle, seeing the looks of determination on their face.
"Wow look at them, looks of determination on their face." The turtle nods.
All three channeled their ki, "Remember Goten, you can't get the most out of your energy if you aren't focused." He simply refocused, building up his ki.
"You too Trunks, instead of Goten's lack of focus you are too concerned comparing my ki to yours, it's different." Trunks simmers his ki down a bit before continuing.
Yamcha, now standing up as both his pupils do the same. "Alright, now you two will come at me." He gestured.
Goten and Trunks look at each other giving each other a nod before grinning, turning towards the bandit and charging at him, up in the air, both boy's throw punches at their master as he blocks and dodges them.
Yamcha grabs Goten and pushes him out of the way, while Trunks aims for the human head with a kick but is blocked by that as well. Son goes for a double axe handle but Scarface avoids before he sends a kick towards Goten which connects to the boy's back as he is flying down in the ocean.
Trunks shoots a couple of ki blasts towards him, but he dodges every single one, flying away from the distance.
"Kamehameha!" Coming straight from the water, Yamcha swats it away feeling a sting in his hand. 'He is definitely getting stronger.' But then Trunks fist connects to the cheek of the bandit.
Now Trunks and Goten trading blows to the human before they both elbowed him on the back of his head, sending him flying down towards the ground.
Roshi during this time got busy reading one of his magazines, just to look up and see Yamcha about to land on him, the turtle hermit quickly tries to scatter away but is cushion for his elder pupil's fall.
"We got him good." Goten said, smiling while Trunks nods his head.
"I say, but what is taking him so long to come from that crater.?"
"Yeah, what's taking me so long?" Both quickly were taken off guard and jumped back as their mentor looked unscathed with his fist on his hips.
He then returned the favour, using a flurry of punches to both of the halflings before they fell towards the ground.
"Wolf Fang Fist, never gets old." Rubbing his nose sheepishly.
Trunks recovers as he rubs his head but then, URGGGHH his stomach starts growling.
So did Goten, hearing the loud riffs, "Alright boy's that's enough sparring for now, let's have a bite to eat." He claps his hands. "Master Roshi?"
Roshi is knocked out with his glasses crushed as the two boys fall on him too, which they both have an innocent smile rubbing their heads.
Moments went by as they chewed food, the boys were competing who can eat the most, Roshi, Yamcha and the turtle watched in astonishment at the food they were racking up in their bodies.
"I will never get used to seeing this." Flashbacks of Goku eating during the budokai decades ago when he was a kid.
"You don't say, especially Goten, it's like a spitting image of Goku the more I see him." Commented Master Roshi, as Goten stopped for a moment before shrugging his shoulders and eating again.
Trunks lets out a loud burp, which causes everyone to be silent before bursting out in laughter.
'Times like this are why I'm grateful for these two.' Smiling looking at his students.
"Okay kids, after this I want you guys to spare against each other. I see that look on you guys face, no Super Saiyan." Much to their complaints.
"This sucks." Pouted Trunks as everyone else laughs.
Later that day, Bulma and Chi Chi would come to get both of their sons from Kame house. Bulma with her hair in a bob and Chi Chi still looking the same as ever.
Goten will say goodbye, leaving with his mother, while Bulma decided to stay back a bit as she and Yamcha are outside looking at the beautiful water flowing, matching with the sunset.
"I'd like to say thank you again Yamcha for helping Trunks, since Vegeta's gone it was hard for him to look for any male role models, besides grandfather." Yamcha just simply gives her a thumbs up.
"No need to thank me, Bulma, that boy is talented. If anyone has a chance of becoming Earth's next hero it's him and Goten." That much he's confident in saying, especially with them working together.
She simply lets out a small sigh, "It's crazy how life turns things around. Especially with you." That last statement made him raise his eyebrow.
"I mean to think you're this serious fighter now, I've been keeping an eye on Earth and any latest developments since that day, with Cell I mean." Pulling out of a scanner from her pocket, the design is similar to a Dragon radar except it's reading areas of higher power levels.
"It's calm for now, but it rises whenever you're training these little guys, also higher when you're alone." He simply doesn't respond.
"A day doesn't go by where I'm not haunted by that beast, him being alive is a constant reminder of my failure." Just the image of Cell got his blood boiling, unknowingly his ki raises, causing the bluenette to move back from him slightly, before he realizes he was letting his power slip.
Rubbing his neck, "Sorry about that." To which Bulma just laughs it off.
"You know, if you were like this all the time, we still would have been together." She said teasingly, winking which Yamcha laughed.
"It all worked for the best I say, you and Vegeta are the perfect combination." Then things got a bit more serious.
"I'm going to take them to the Time Chamber in a year." Bulma, eyes widened at the nostalgia. "I'm confident they're ready for it, I figured I'd tell you before Chi Chi, for obvious reasons."
Regaining her composure, "You sure are right about that. I'll be sure to have stuff prepared, never got to ask, ever since that wish you made seven years ago, how do you feel about your chances against Cell?"
Taking time to think, looking in Bulma's eyes. "If I were to fight Cell now, I'd be crushed in a second." She knew he was weaker than Cell still but not by this degree.
"I have been keeping track of his energy, although it's been a long time since he's been remotely close to the last time I sensed him, his power was incredible." Not sugar coating anything, he knew Bulma was the last person to be subtle with.
Thinking back to what Roshi said before about Cell's strength going beyond logic, he was right but he wouldn't lose faith, his spirit wouldn't allow it.
"But those two boys show promise I haven't seen in a long time, I'm certain they'll be the key in Cell's defeat one day." His face never wavers.
Crossing her arms, "Yeah? In the meantime you make sure you keep my son grounded, he looks up to you."
Nodding his head, giving her a thumbs up.
"Well I better get going, I'm sure you got someone to meet." That reminded made the bandit go pale for a moment.
'Yeah, not ready to deal with that later.' He said as his body slacks.
Somewhere outer space
Far from Planet Earth, in the Eastern quadrant is a beautiful planet that has purple skies, nourishing plants, and crops that are slowly dying just like its inhabitants.
There the people of this planet met a terrible fate as bodies filled the environment.
Standing in his golden hue, Cell looks around him, stoic as another civilization fell before him.
"To think these foolish vermin could stop perfection..now to get rid of this pathetic world."
Just then he destroyed the core of this planet, leaving nothing behind as his shield protected him from the explosion.
Once stood a planet is no more, Cell now lets down his barrier,"I do wonder where to go next?"
"I should start heading to the North galaxy again, after all Planet of the Acrose has something I'm looking for." Taking off throughout space, what's next for the bio-droid can't be good.
Back on Earth
Yamcha dodges a kick, then a series of punches before flying downwards.
"Stop running like a coward." Said the girl as her blonde locs cover her face, Throwing multiple ki blasts, Yamcha swats them but then she appears behind him and gets him in the back.
Feeling the pain as steam rolls off from him, he recovers with after image then lands a strong punch to her jaw, causing her to stumble into a pile of rocks.
Following her he sends a strike but her aerobatics show when she front rolled out of the way, then she kicks him back against the boulder but as his body bounces off, he quickly powers up.
"Kaioken..times..8!" His body expands slightly then knees her in the gut before he grabs her by the arm and swings her around upwards, before she is fully sent, the bandit is already ahead of her and sends her back down to the ground.
'Damn him and tha-' Yamcha in position for turtle school signature blast, she closes her eyes but nothing would happen as she opens them to see him just smirking before cooling off from his power up.
"I say that's it for our training session." Walking back to the cliff, sitting down.
18 eyes would blink before she gets mad. "It's over just like that!?" Quickly following behind him.
Moments later both would be by a campfire, eating roasted pig having a brief conversation.
"I see you've been taking my advice to visit Bulma for more maintenance on your power core."
She just scoffs, "Yea, well I can't allow anything to slow me down, after all I'm doing my best trying to surpass you." Something about her drive is what makes Yamcha appreciate her, she makes a great sparring partner.
"Surpass me? I remember how much beating I had to take to surpass you, it wasn't easy but I say we both were thriving for the same goal so it's best we keep moving that goal post."
"But, this spot. I wouldn't take you to be much of a nature person, I remember reports that you use to just steal stuff from the city." Taking a bite of more pig meat.
She just sits there, with her knees to her chest, "I am or was, but my best days were when I was with my brother and 16 enjoying nature going off road, looking for Goku."
Those memories still cling to her strongly even after all these years, something Yamcha can understand, another thing that bonded both of them was memories before Cell.
"So after this is over, you'll stay living in these environments?"
"Doesn't matter, enough about me, how are the runts coming along?"
As much information he'll get out of her, it's a big improvement over the initial years where she wouldn't say anything at all or avoided him.
"Great, making them train in their base and not rely on their Super Saiyan form has been wonderful, I believe in a year they'll be ready for the Room spirit and time." She has a curious look on her face, as he explains in detail.
"Why haven't you used it with something so clutch in your disposal?"
"It can only be used twice, also it isn't something that you can just go in and handle, honestly not until the past year I probably wasn't ready for it." Really, it was because of Trunks and Goten's development that prevented him from going sooner.
She nodded, understanding, "Well come get me when it's time, I swear you better n-" Holding his hands up in defense smiling.
"You were a part of the plan too, actually I want you to be paired with one of them first."
Moment of silence reigned after mutual understanding, then she suddenly spoke.
"Do you think he'll ever come back?"
Nodding his head, "I'm sure of it, when he does we'll be ready."
"How can you be so sure? Even with a group of veteran Saiyans, he still prevailed." Yamcha's face wouldn't waiver however.
"We experienced loss, plus we were granted a second chance whether Cell thinks nobody on this planet is a challenge or not, we will win. I'll see to it personally that we won't ever experience something like this again even if I have to die to ensure that."
During his speech, Android 18 smiled. 'Yamcha, you sure do know ways with words, I wonder if this is how the others felt when Goku was around.'
Just a natural born leader, even during dark times there's a voice that got to reason lighter days approaching.
His aura outlines his body when talking, 'It's a New Future.'
There we are for the first chapter, hopefully y'all enjoy!
This story is inspired by popular fan manga Dragon ball: New Hope for those that don't know the name, while I was reading this idea hits me ofc their differences and continue to add my original twist as I have so much planned for this story.
For anyone that wonder about the main character, it's going to be Yamcha I want to bring power back to the humans but ofc I felt Yamcha has been disrespected, if you look back at original dragonball, the whole potential love started with him but of course it changed once Z came, but besides that I'm excited to write more about the multiple relations between the characters so hopefully y'all enjoy the ride.
