Epos was born in a quiet town in Outworld, one which had been transformed into a Kahn Guard outpost when she was very young. Her childhood surrounded by members of the militia loyal to Emperor Shao Kahn, they had become very impressionable on Epos growing up. The Kahn Guard had become very important to Epos. She saw them as heroes, serving dutifully to protect her hometown despite poor conditions such as a lack of food which Epos helped by gifting bread to the soldiers on patrol. She dreamed of becoming a member of the Kahn Guard, having begun training at a young age, and her fellow loyalist parents supported her dreams. This was early on in the reign of Shao Kahn and he initially seemed like a drastic improvement to the Dragon King… but her parents soon realised Shao Kahn was an alarming figure once his plans to conquer all the realms became clear upon his first invasion which involved forcefully drafting many Outworlder adults into the Kahn Guard, including Epos' family. They headed off to war one day and never returned… but the soldiers watching over Epos' town looked after her, as she had looked after them before. She began to receive proper training in martial arts and numerous weaponry such as sai, swords and morning stars with the latter being her preferred weapons alongside the style of dual wielding. She soon officially became a member of the Kahn Guard, and spent countless years serving the group by going on expeditions for rebellions in Outworld itself. She had helped uncover and squash so many rebellions that she had been sent on an important mission alongside some Shadow Priests. There she met Talon who was considered to be the most skilled sorceress of the hooded group. They began to fight side by side numerous times, eventually falling in love. Being a highly respected Kahn Guard member, Talon put in a good word to General Reiko about Epos. Reiko himself came to visit Epos and tested her to prove if she was worthy of a promotion by challenging a group of hostile Tarkatans and defeating them by herself. She of course succeeded, and officially became the Colonel of the Kahn Guard's army.
