The car ride to UA is… interesting. Thankfully, all members of the Yamazawa family speak English, so conversations can flow more easily.

Shinso looks Dusk dead in the eye, "I'm telling you, it's the truth! The only reason people like Yoroi Musha is because of anime! They think samurai are cool, and that's why they like him! He's really just a cranky old man that's been doing this for way too long!"

Dusk lets out a snort, the corners of their mouth twitching slightly upwards, "Is the same true for Edgeshot?"

Shinso shrugs, "Eh, kinda? Obviously he's got the whole ninja thing going on, but he's also a good Hero that's super active as well."

Dusk eyes the driver's seat, "He's pretty public though, which is a bit of a damper on the ninja aesthetic. Based on what I've heard though, I think I've already got an idea of who might fit the bill a bit better."

Mic snorts and lightly elbows his husband, "Hear that, Sho? Apparently you're a better ninja than Edgeshot."

Aizawa smirks, "Of course I am. What ninja operates in broad daylight without a disguise?"

Shinso laughs hearing that, wishing he could see Edgeshot react to hearing those words. It gets a chuckle out of Dusk too when they hear the translated version. The rest of the car ride is smooth, and the make it to UA without incident.

Dusk soon is brought to lurk in the Teacher's Lounge with Shinso while they wait for school to actually start, since arriving with the faculty means there are practically no other students on campus. Perfect.

Dusk absently pets CORPSE as they listen to Shinso ramble about his island in Animal Crossing. Being able to just… listen to someone talk about something they enjoy… They've missed this. Being able to simply relax and enjoy something small in their life… It's a beautiful thing.

The moment is interrupted by the intrusion of a particular rodent. Shinso doesn't notice, but the corners of Dusk's mouth tilt downwards slightly as they see the principal walk in. Something about Nezu unnerves Dusk, but that might just be paranoia.

Nezu gives a short giggle as he walks up, "Well, it's nice to finally meet you in person! I understand things must be difficult for you, moving to a country so different from your own that you don't even speak the language of, especially with your… unique situation. I do hope that you'll enjoy your time here with us and mature into a wonderful Hero! Please, don't be afraid to let any of the staff know if you need anything from them."

Dusk hums, "I appreciate the concern, but I believe I'll be fine. I'd like to think of myself as quite adaptable, so I likely won't be bothering your staff too much."

Nezu's eyes narrow slightly at the wording Dusk used, "Oh, I assure you it wouldn't be a bother. We're here to help and teach you after all."

Before Dusk can make a response, Aizawa comes to collect them, "Class starts soon, you two should get going."

Giving a slight nod to both Aizawa and Nezu, Dusk steps out with Shinso to head to class. Soon they arrive at the door for 1-A and… Dusk can already hear yelling.

Shinso sighs, "Yeah, they don't really waste any time. Well, I suppose I should say 'He', since it's really just one guy. Anyway, you should probably wait out here so dad can introduce you to the class. See you in a bit."

Dusk just grunts in acknowledgment as Shinso heads inside. Thankfully, they don't have to sit around for long as Aizawa soon arrives and brings them in.

The class quiets down as Aizawa and Dusk walk in, the students all staring at the new arrival, the only person who was absent yesterday. The fact they brought a cat probably isn't helping. So much attention on them. Just great.

Aizawa addresses the class, "Everyone, this is Dusk Taylor. They're coming here from America, and they'll be joining us for the next three years. Be aware that they're still learning Japanese, so unless you're confident with English you should get someone to translate. I hope you all know what I mean when I tell you to be accommodating to them. And don't mind the cat, just know that the matter has been worked out with Nezu."

Aizawa then directs Dusk to take their seat, between two students named Denki Kaminari and Kyoka Jiro respectively. Shinso is also only a few seats away, so someone they can actually talk to is nearby. Sitting down with CORPSE in their lap, Dusk settles in for what is sure to be a slog of a day.

And they were right, it's a slog. The teachers constantly have to slow down their lessons so they can translate for Dusk, and it's starting to really annoy them just how much these people have to cater to them. The worst one by far is Present Mic's English class, where they just get pulled aside to practice Japanese with whatever teacher happens to be available at the time.

By the time Heroics rolls around, Dusk is already fed up with it all. Hell, it even seems like the other students are avoiding talking to them so they won't have to go through the hassle of getting someone to translate. While they aren't exactly chomping at the bit to make friends with these people, seeing their classmates make a conscious effort to avoid them is really pissing them off, especially when it just makes things harder for all of them.

Dusk gets distracted by their frustrations when All Might of all people bursts in as their Heroics teacher. While they aren't exactly the man's number one fan (that would probably be Midoriya, who is currently vibrating in his seat), they can't deny all the good work he's done in both America and Japan.

And then the man addresses Dusk directly.

"Ah, young Taylor! How good to see you doing well!"

Now all eyes are on them, because it seems like they personally know All Might. Dusk pushes down another surge of irritation at the situation. They can deal with this. They've endured worse, they can handle a little alienation. They can fix it later.

Dusk nods to All Might, "Hello again, All Might. While it's nice to see you, I do believe you currently have a class to teach?"

"Right you are! Allow us to begin!"

Now All Might wants them to costume up for a training exercise. One that seems to rely on teamwork. Oh, this'll be fun.

A/N: Over a year… I'm just going to go find a hole to jump in, see you around.
