Chuck vs. The Courtyard Bench
Well, in the previous chapter: Chuck arrives at Carina and Zondra's hotel room to pick along with Sarah up to go to dinner. Unfortunately, Zondra and Sarah aren't there as he finds Carina answering the door wearing a silky robe much to the nerd's surprise. He's somewhat hesitant to do so but goes in and from the get-go Carina seduces him, but her efforts are subsequently shut down due to the fact. Why? Chuck ends up accidentally throwing champagne in her eye and steps on her foot trying to help her out as he tries to get to know her on a more personal level. Unfortunately, Carina isn't the type to open up about her personal side to the point where he she ends up sharing a story after being encouraged to do so by her blonde sorority sister's boyfriend. Unbeknownst to her, Chuck is a wealth of pop culture knowledge and calls her out on it. Zondra and Sarah eventually show up leading all 4 to head out for dinner at C3. As for Bryce, he talks with Sarah and asks her if she can get Chuck to come talk to him. As much as she thinks it's a bad idea, she'll do it but doesn't guarantee anything. So, what's in store for this chapter? Here are the who, what, where, when, why, and how? Who is Chuck covering in regards singing the opening song for Bash At The Bench? What happens during the performance that the crowd starts to grow wild? Where is Hannah from after Tommy informs Bryce about her hometown causing the track star to relate it to an iconic superhero. When does Chuck get emotional as it pertains to the video he shares with the crowd concerning the latest Rockstar Rebel? Why does Chuck reference the 80's classic show Knight Rider as he's watching the dedication video? How much faith does Chuck have in Angel getting through her situation at such a young age? Read and find out! I hope you enjoy the read and leave a comment to share your own thoughts on this particular chapters. As always, reviews are awesome.
Again, if you enjoyed reading my stories and left a comment, I truly appreciate it. Please continue to do so as it gives me the incentive to write more chapters.
I don't own Chuck.

"WHAT'S UP, BARTOWSKI BRIIIGGGAADDEEE!" bellowed the nerdy host with a smile.
The crowd erupts in a mixture of cheers and applause within the courtyard of Westside Medical Center. As the cheers and applause continue, Zondra is taking pictures and at the same time trying to not to get in the way or be an absolute distraction of the performance. Of course, she's doing it with the approval of Chief Beckman, but it would most definitely be contested by the hospital weasel of a lawyer Emmitt Milbarge. Unfortunately, he wouldn't budge and that led to Carina stepped in to use her God given sex appeal to seduce him so she would have Emmitt wrapped around her fingers in order to help her best friend and C.A.T. squad member. Much to everyone's surprise, he turned her flat down and exclaimed that he's in a committed, long distance relationship with a woman named Henrietta. Plus, he's not going to risk the love they share together to be ruined by a red headed floozy and possibly get some kind of venereal disease in the process from her. According to him, his angelic beauty, Henrietta, works at a hospital in the accounts payable department in Ontario, Canada.
Unfortunately, that's all the information he willingly shared and would not speak of her again, which led to considerable speculation among the inner circle on whether or not Henrietta was actually real. It got to the point where a betting pool was made started by none other than Jeffster. In any case, the red head in question didn't bat an eye after being called a floozy because she's been called much worse. As for the venereal disease claim, she brushed out knowing she gotten checked and the results have always been a clean bill of health. For her, she owns the reputation she's built up for herself and doesn't care what anybody else thinks. Fortunately for Zondra, Emmitt's efforts in trying to stop her from taking pictures ended up failing. That was before Bash At The Bench.
What's happening now is Jeffster at the ready standing/sitting behind their instruments, along with the Chief Operating Officer, who is standing a bit off to the side of center stage where Chuck currently stands. Speaking of Chuck, he continues to hype up the crowd and then speaks up once again. "As you may have heard its Chief Walker's birthday." he announced, briefly glancing back to his left towards his blonde girlfriend. "Anything you want to say? How about a speech?" In that instance, the crowd erupts in a chant of the word speech encouraging Sarah to come forward. Unfortunately, she shakes her head leading Chuck to try to coax her forward while doing the Bartowski eyebrow dance. "Come on, Chief Walker."
Instead of a simple wave and nod of acknowledgement, she arches her right brow towards Chuck and partly exudes her wildcard enforcer look towards her nerdy beau. It's an expression he reads loud and clear to where she nonverbally urges him to start singing, which the youngest Bartowski sibling complies. "Well, I tried Bartowski Brigade." he responded, turning around and shrugging his shoulders. "So, for the betterment of my health and well-being…." he stated, expressing an amusing chuckle. "…let's get this party started shall we! You ready birthday girl!? " he added, expressing his toothy smile towards her.
"Lead the way, Nerdy Nerfherder!" she responded back, into the mic.
"Yes ma'am." quickly saluted Chuck. His attention is then directed to the fairly crowded courtyard. "This song was sung by Jimmy Buffett featuring Martina McBride. It's called Trip Around The Sun." Chuck shared, before starting their performance.
Afterwards, he glances behind him to signal Jeffster to start playing their instruments, which they do. A few seconds later, Chuck is standing and holding the mic along with the mic stand with his upper torso bend down as if he's getting into a comfortable zone before singing. A brief moment later Chuck straightens up and begins to sing.
Here I'm singin' happy birthday
Better think about the wish I make
This year gone by ain't been a piece of cake
It's at this point, Chuck lets go of the mic and the mic stand then takes a step back within the small break of the first set of lyrics of the song. While do so, he thinks about the latter part of what he just sang concerning how this year hasn't been a piece of cake. In his mind, it started out relatively well professionally, but when it came to his personal life he kept his emotions and his heart at a distance. That was until Sarah came into the picture and he went through a mental and emotional roller coaster when it came to dealing with his thoughts and feelings. Now, he's no longer in a mental and emotional battle as his attention turns to Sarah who steps forward towards center stage. In doing so, she belts out the next set of lyrics much to the elation and not to mention fervent anticipation of the crowd.
Every day's a revolution
Pull it together and it comes undone
Just one more candle and a trip around the sun
Once her part is over, the couple join together in singing the next set of lyrics to the song, which cause an absolute uproar. The crowd within the courtyard become unglued erupting in a mixture of cheers and applause as they are hearing two people are quite literally making beautiful music together. All eyes are on Chuck and Sarah as they walk towards each other in a seemingly smooth fluid motion after standing at opposite ends of the stage singing their parts to the song. Although it couldn't be seen, a tremendous amount of electricity given off and magnetic pull of the nerdy couple could be felt as they now stand face to face with one another.
I'm just hangin' on while this old world keeps spinning
And it's good to know it's out of my control
If there's one thing that I've learned from all this livin'
Is that it wouldn't change a thing if I let go
No you never see it comin'
Always wind up wonderin' where it went
For Sarah, the lyrics most definitely speak to her because she never saw it comin' when it came to the immense impact that Chuck would be in her lift. In her mind, before arriving at Westside Medical Center her life was basically a repeat of the previous day to the point it was as if she were like Bill Murray's character in the movie Groundhog Day. In other words, seemingly living in a constant loop of reliving the same moments of life over and again even though she has tried to deviate every so often from her daily routine. Fortunately for her, it finally deviated after accepting the position as Chief Beckman's second in command at the urging of her former boss Langston Graham unbeknownst to her at the time. It's that particular thought of breaking the constant loop of reliving the same moments of life in D.C. causes her to express a smile as she turns to face Chuck. In doing so, she lowers the mic to hear her nerdy boyfriend belt out the next 2 lines of the songs to where she then sings the latter half of lyrics.
Only time will tell if it was time well spent
It's another revelation
Celebrating what I should have done
With these souvenirs of my trip around the sun
Once again, the nerdy couple performing on stage take that moment in the small break of the song to reach out towards each other inevitably locking hands while still holding the mics in the other. So far, their voices have beautifully blended together in such a sweet melodic sound it stirred the crowd up even more, but Chuck and Sarah didn't notice at all because they locked eyes with each other causing the both of them to get lost within the performance as well. Of course, it's clearly evident not just with the individuals within the courtyard, but by those online who have affectionately dubbed the two of them as Charah, that what they're all witnessing right now is absolute perfect chemistry. A chemistry that can be truly seen in their body language, facial expressions, and not to mention voices as couple continues singing.
I'm just hangin' on while this old world keeps spinning
And it's good to know it's out of my control
If there's one thing that I've learned from all this livin'
Is that it wouldn't change a thing if I let go
During the break of the song before last set of lyrics, Chuck and Sarah spontaneously start dancing arm in arm with each other while Jeffster plays on. They're eyes still locked on one another not really paying attention to what's happening around them. However, those within the courtyard and online are certainly paying attention to the point where Zondra has positioned herself in a perfect spot to capture what she considers memorable shots of something considerably special and magical. She's not the only one taking pictures as everyone else in the courtyard is doing so well along with taking video of the intimate moment between the two that quite possibly will be chatter circulating within the hospital. In any case, the couple would soon realize they've gotten lost in the moment and let go of each other to face the crowd. Afterwards, they sing the last set of lyrics a bit softer and slower.
Yes I'll make a resolution
That I'll never make another one
Just enjoy this ride on my trip around the sun
Just enjoy this ride
When the last note is played and word of the song fades off, the courtyard explodes to the point where chants of Chuck and Sarah or Charah are being repeatedly chanted. The chants that are so loud within the courtyard it's absolutely deafening that it's incredibly difficult to hear what someone is saying or to even think for that matter. However, it doesn't stop the celebration of countless individual including Carina and Zondra as there all expressing joyous adoration for two people who are clearly in love with each other. Speaking of the lovebirds, all they can really do is stand there center stage and just give waves of appreciation with Sarah doing a quick curtsey at the overwhelming show of support directing towards them.

"How'd I do?" asked Sarah, directing her attention to her C.A.T. squad sisters. A smile adorning her seemingly glowing face.
In response, Carina pounces on her with a hug while Zondra stands there to momentarily snap a photo of her 2 sorority sisters. Afterwards, she lowers her Canon EOS Rebel T7 DSLR camera and expresses a soft smirk as she witnesses a much happier side of her blonde counterpart. In her mind, it's a side that she hasn't seen in quite a long time in which she seems free to be herself instead of holding back her personality for the sake of an ex. An ex that saw her more as a beautiful trophy and arm candy than a woman who is so much more than what's underneath the surface if he'll just allow her to be who she truly is...a nerd. A nerd who not only loves Harry Potter, but loves to sing her heart out, which she always did whenever they were together. Good times and great memories, she thinks to herself.
"You did your thing, Blondie." the brunette grinned. "Like old times for you and I'm pretty sure I know who is responsible for that." she added, raising both eyebrows. Her attention turning towards the area between the stage and blue bench where Chuck is standing next a short, bearded individual they were introduced to.
Yeah, Sarah…" Carina said, releasing her hug then stepping back to a face her friend. Her hands reaching down to envelope hers. "…it's great to hear what you enjoy doing again. As much as I envied your relationship with Cole and the lifestyle you lived you just weren't you. I…" she added, shaking her head. The sound of disappointment I her voice as she briefly glances at the woman standing behind her. "…we saw that. Now, you're with Chuck. His influence and how much he's encouraged you to be your true self is…"
"Inspiring?" chimed in Sarah.
"Uplifting?" added Zondra, in a questioning manner.
Carina shakes her head. "Sexy." the red head answered, turning her head to direct her attention to nerdy YouTube host. "I'm actually turned on right now." Her right brow arches up as her attention shifts from Chuck to the short, bearded man he's standing next to. "Is Martin available?"
"His name is Morgan…" corrected Sarah, rolling her eyes. After noticing Zondra do the same, she continues on. "…and no he's isn't available. He's dating John Casey's daughter, Alex. She's a friend and not to mention a nurse here working at the children's hospital..." she shared, firmly reiterating that particular point of couple's relationship for Carina's sake. "…and she's standing right next to him." The Chief Operating offer points to the woman in question.
"That's never stopped me before." retorted Carina, shrugs her shoulders inevitably expressing a devilish grin. She then breaks her focus on Morgan to focus on something or in this particular case someone else. "What about the guitarist and the drummer? I met them earlier and they seem cute-ish. What's their story?"
"Jeff and Lester?" Sarah responded, in questionable and surprised manner. He looks back and forth from Jeffster to Carina in considerable disbelief. "No. Nope…Noooo."
"Why not!? They seem fun, especially the short one." she pointed out, waving over to Lester.
Sarah's eyes widen as she turns her attention to the stage where she sees Lester wave back. He then turns to Jeff leading the HinJew to do a celebratory pelvic thrust dance on stage. This causes the Chief Operating Officer to shake her head and immediately take action. "Anybody but them. Trust me."
"Fine." groaned the red head. "Where's Johnny? He can handcuff me any time." she added, expressing a mischievous smile.
"Down Blanche." Sarah amusingly responded. It's one of many nicknames for Carina comparing her to Rue McClanahan's character Blance Devereaux from the classic series Golden Girls. A character that is very similar in the way she acts and her vigorous appetite for men. If she's Blanche, then Zondra would be Bea Arther's character Dorothy Zbornak . As for herself, she's a mixture of Dorothy and Estelle Getty's character Sophia Patrillo. She sets those comparative thoughts aside then continues speaking. "He's taking care of hospital business for Chief Beckman. I was informed by Scooter who is with him as she's in a conference call with The Board of Directors. So she's not to be disturbed."
"So, you're technically in charge of the hospital right now." Zondra pointed out.
Sarah responds with a simple nod. Afterwards, Zondra and Sarah's attention is subsequently broken by Carina speaking up. "Who's Scooter? Is he single?
Once again, both women roll their eyes and express laughter knowing their red headed sorority sister has an insatiable thirst for guys. Unfortunately, once the flame of interest is all burned out she moves on to the next unfortunate victim. In any case, as the 3 women continue talking during the break in the show, Tommy Delgado enters Bryce's Larkin's room. The associate of Fulcrum Management Team is not alone as someone is with him. A female to be exact.
"Bryce…" announced Tommy, seeing his client on crutches standing by the window. The hospital room's television showing some skits being done by Chuck and Morgan with some of the kids from the Children's Hospital. "…I would like to introduce you to your physical therapist. The both of you are going to spend a lot of time together after your surgery."
The physical therapist in question is dressed in blue scrubs with comfortable shoes on her feet. Her dark hair tied back in a ponytail and the makeup on her face is more of a softer tone that accentuates her natural beauty. A leather-bound zipper folder is held against her upper torso by both her arms as she approaches her newest client.
"Hannah Lang, right?" he shuffled around on his crutches, to face Hannah. His right leg in a brace to protect his right knee. A few seconds later, he extends his right hand to her for a handshake. "My savior and guardian angel."
"Yes sir, Mr. Larkin..." she replied back, extended her right hand and reciprocating the handshake offered. "…and I wouldn't go that far." Hannah amusingly added.
In response, he gives a brief shrug. "Bryce." he insisted with a soft chuckle. He's doing his best to mask the pain he's feeling coming from his right knee. "You can call me, Bryce."
"Ok, Bryce." she retorted, with a bit of hesitance on her part.
"She's from Smallville, Kansas." Tommy pointed out.
"Clark Kent's hometown. That's pretty awesome to be from where Superman hangs his cape."
"Never really thought about it." shrugged Hannah. A smile is expressed as she peers up at the person who she'll be helping quite literally to get back on his feet after his surgery. "I live in Los Angeles now."
"Has anyone ever told you that you have a beautiful smile?"
"Not lately. I appreciate the compliment though." It's at the point, Hannah unzips her leather-bound folder and opens it in front of Bryce and Tommy. She then retrieves a pen from within her folder and clicks the top of it. "Are you ready to discuss the physical therapy regiment I'll be putting you through?"
"Not really…" he begrudgingly answered back. "… but if it means it will help me get into my normal training mode faster than expected then I'm all for it." Bryce added, taking a brief moment to adjust the crutches.
"Awesome." Hannah retorted. "I got to warn you. I am notorious for being a real ballbuster so I'm going to push you hard. It's going to painful. You're going to hate me for it, but it comes with the territory in my profession. You'll probably rethink referring me as your guardian angel."
Bryce let's what Hannah shared with him sink in. After being silent for a moment, he takes a death breath then speaks up. "No pain, no gain."
"Ok then. Let's have a seat and I'll share with you what will be involved in your physical therapy." she shared, briefly lifting up open leather-bound binder. "Mr. Delgado…"
"Tommy." he insisted.
"Tommy…" acknowledged Hannah, with a nod. "…you'll get a copy as well." In response, Tommy gives a nod over to her as he assists Bryce over to the table to sit down with Hannah taking a seat on the other side of the table.

"This week's Rockstar Rebel isn't here. Well, not here here…in the courtyard. She's currently there…" pointing behind him while standing in front of the blue courtyard bench. "…in the NICU of the Children's Hospital. She's a 7-month-old baby girl that was born premature and has rare blood disorder known as Maffucci Syndrome." Chuck shared, looking out at the crowd.
It's at that point, a large white video projection screen begins rising from behind the blue courtyard bench. As a matter of fact, there are several large projection video screens located within the courtyard for the crowd to be able to get a clear glimpse of what the nerdy host will be sharing with everybody. Once the main white screen is ready, Chuck continues addressing the crowd.
"Earlier in the week myself, along with Fuzzball and Chief Walker, were able to visit little 7-month-old Angelica Tyson in the NICU. Normally, taking pictures and videos filming is off limits, but with approval from Chief Beckman and permission from her parents, James and Evelyn Tyson. I personally invited them be at Bash At The Bench, but they declined the offer."
For Chuck, when it came to choosing Rockstar Rebels, he never forced the child or even the parents for that matter to be on camera. He always respected the wishes of the parents if they didn't want to expose their child to be on any sort of social media. In his mind, it's one of the rules he'll most definitely never break knowing a number of social media personalities would do it simply for the views, which he's never been concerned with or deemed important.
What's considered to be important is establishing the integrity and genuine raw honesty of what Nerdy Nerfherder and Fuzzball is all about, he thinks to himself. Essentially, he's been able to build up strong fanbase of subscribers who have be absolutely supportive every step of the way when it comes to donating financially to a worthy cause. A cause that consistently helped spotlight Rockstar Rebel of the week and their parents who have been a tremendous inspiration to so many people even though they don't truly know or actually believe it.
"Instead, we were able to put together a video for this precious baby girl who's affectionately nicknamed Angel." he smiled, taking a momentary pause. "So, if you'll direct your attention to the closest projection video screen from where you are and watch the video we've put together."
Afterwards, Chuck gives the signal to his bearded best friend to start the video. Once he does, the crowd within the courtyard and not to mention Westside Medical Center are introduced to 7-month-old Angel. She's first scene within a glass chamber in the NICU unit and what is heard next is background music that will most definitely get anyone emotional while watching the video. A few seconds later, Chuck's voice is heard as images interspersed with video clips of Angel, her parents, Chuck and Sarah showing the touch interaction that happened.
"Maffucci Syndrome. It's a rare blood disorder believed to be present in the body from birth. It's a serious disorder and the chances of long-term survival and a normal life are not high. Thankfully, since the disease was discovered in 1881, only 200 cases have ever been discovered. It's also a disorder that affects the bones and skin, the most common symptom is the development of non-cancerous growths or tumors on the bones, especially in the hands and feet. Growths can also consist of large lumps of tangled blood vessels that make blood circulation very difficult."
As the video plays on, the impact of what Angel and her parents have been going through has an immense emotional domino effect. Tears are being shed as crowd listens to the parents talk about how utterly gut wrenching it is to not be able to take away or at least ease the pain their daughter is enduring, especially at such a very young age. One of those people within the crowd that is emotionally affected turning into blubbering, sobbing mess is Carina. She's being comforted by her sorority sister who are also a blubbing, sobbing mess. In any case, the video would continue on with the Angel's doctor being shown and further discussing Maffucci Syndrome.
"With this rare blood disorder, Angel is at a high risk of developing several forms of cancer. The growths can either become malignant or cancerous. Furthermore, her condition can cause the shortening of bones as well as the severe deformation of the skeletal structure. Unfortunately, there are no real medicines or treatments for it. The only thing that can be done is carefully monitor the growths and perform surgical interventions when the growths become cancerous or begin to severely affect the skeletal system."
Once the doctor's segment is done, it transitions to images and video clip of Chuck and Sarah talking with the parents, as well as interacting with Angel. The video would refocus on the 7-month-old and her parents then the video suddenly pans away. In doing so, the bearded man behind the camera catches a glimpse of a touching, heartfelt moment between of the nerdy couple just comforting each other because of incredibly impactful and emotional their visit has been to them. A few moments later, the video shows Angel's mother Evelyn speaking while her husband is talking with Sarah and Chuck.
"My Angel will get through this. I pray that she does. It's been tough but thanks to the efforts of my baby's doctor treating her, the nurses, and most all of Chuck. Chief Walker too." she said, briefly glancing over to her left where Chuck and Sarah are standing. "If it weren't for their unwavering support of so many, the available resources this hospital is giving for our daughter and the huge heart of guy who is just an absolute Godsend...
Evelyn is momentarily speechless. It's clearly evident that's she's struggling to keep her emotions in check and from the look of fatigue in her eyes the stress has taken considerable toll on not only her, but quite possibly her husband as well. However, she pulls herself together and after taking a deep breathe she continues speaking.
"...we're lucky to have Chuck in our lives. He's essentially become a family member. In a way, he's become a family member to every kid in this hospital whether they're a Rockstar Rebel or not. I hope Chuck knows how important this show has become for every child who is sick and the parents that are struggling to stay strong for the sake of their child. I'm crying just thinking about it." Evelyn shared, reaching up to wipe away tears from her eyes. The video then cuts to her speaking again after she seemingly composed herself. "I honestly don't know what life would be like if Chuck hadn't created his show, but I'm…we're all thankful he did." she added, with a soft, appreciative smile.
The video ends with those 5 words and the impact of it most definitely resonates all throughout the courtyard because it's relatively quiet. Of course, the one most impacted is Chuck as he stands there still facing the white projection screen and letting the words of Angel's mom sink in. For him, hearing those words from Angel's mom for the first time deeply touched him like the video that Sarah had help putting together for him after Camden Willard's unfortunate passing.
Granted, he's not the type of guy to let his accolades go to his head, but every once in a while, he can't help but feel that he's making a difference. It's that particular thought in which he hearkens back to the classic 80's series Knight Rider where the founder of the Knight Foundation, Wilton Knight, tells Michael Knight that one man can make a difference. In that instance, he feels the emotions welling up inside him, but he wouldn't be able to let it all out as suddenly hears the sound of clapping causing him to turn around.
Once he's facing the crowd, the applause grows increasingly louder with Chuck noticing how emotional they all because of the video. That would be catalyst for the quintessential damn to break allowing the floodgate of tears to flow out from Chuck. The overwhelming mixture of emotions causes him to take a few steps back in order to sit on the blue courtyard bench and just go with his lady feelings as Casey would eloquently put it. Fortunately, he's not sitting there by himself as Sarah takes a seat right by his side to be there as the awesome supportive girlfriend she is.
XXX
"I wasn't ready for that." Chuck said, addressing the crowd. "It was awesome though. Everybody needs have a good cry. I guess today was that day for me." he added, expressing his toothy smile.
In the past 7 years, Chuck has experienced so many mixed emotions that it's hard to forget the immense impact each child he's met and gotten to know. Oftentimes, he's never fully prepared to listen to the stories of struggle, pain, heartbreak, etc. Although each child he meets is different, the connection and bond made remains the same to the point where if/when death occurs, he takes it personally. The friendships he's established with the kids and not to the mention the parents are truly life changing. They've become so meaningful to him that he would much rather remember the happy than the sad times.
"As I've said before, when it comes to song choices and dedicating it to a Rockstar Rebel it ends up being a perfect fit. This song is no exception as it's from the Disney animated movie Tarzan and sung by the legendary Phil Collins. So, Angel…" he said, placing his right hand over his heart. "…know that the tears we shed for you are meant to be happy ones. We hope and pray you'll pull through knowing you're such a strong little girl as you're in all of our hearts." Chuck proclaimed. Afterwards, he glances back and gives a nod to Jeffster leading the duo to start playing the intro to the song. A few seconds later, he begins to sing.
Come stop your crying, it will be alright
Just take my hand. Hold it tight
I will protect you from all around you
I will be here don't you cry
For one so small, you seem so strong
My arms on hold to keep you safe and warm
This bond between us can't be broken
I will be here, don't you cry
'Cause you'll be in my heart, yes, you'll be in my heart
From this day on now and forever more
You'll be in my heart, no matter what they say
You'll be here in my heart, always
It's during that small break before the next set of lyrics to the song, Chuck closes his eyes and takes a deep breath. While standing there center stage, he takes the opportunity to give a silent, but brief prayer in which he asks God to lay His healing hands on Angel. To watch over her and her parents during the most trying, as well as difficult time of their lives. During his brief moment of silent prayer, he puts his hope and trust with everyone in attendance, along with everyone watching at home are sending their prayers for an infant you will most assuredly have many more trips around the sun. After a giving a nonverbal Amen, he hears the drum beat signal him to lift his head and continues singing. A growing smile expressed as he does.
Why can't they understand the way we fell?
They just don't trust, what they can't explain
I know we're different but deep inside us
We're not that different at all
And you'll be in my heart,
yes, you'll be in my heart
From this day on
now and forever more
Don't listen to them,
'Cause what do they know?
We've need each other
to have, to hold
They'll see in time,
I know,
Once again, Chuck takes a moment as he has his right hand on the mic while his hand is gripped on the mic stand. He knows that for the most part his performance has been softly subdued in order to hold the attention of the audience both in the courtyard and watching online as well. Now, that he's gotten hold of the audience's attention he believes it's time to build the energy up to the point a surge of electricity is felt not just all throughout the courtyard, but in the hospital as well. He does this, by grabbing the mic of out of the mic stand and starts singing the next set of lyrics with some emphasis on it.
When destiny calls you, you must be strong
I may not be with you, so you've gotta hold on
You'll see in time,
I know
We'll show them together
'Cause
you'll be in my heart, always,
you'll be in my heart
(I'll be there for you)
From this day on
now and forever more
After ending the last line of lyrics with a beautiful run that gets the crowd erupting in applause and cheers, Chuck is determined to leave everything he can possibly give performance wise on stage. Granted, he doesn't have to do it, but he most definitely wants to finish strong by putting his heart and soul into the next set of lyrics for Angel. A song that will forever be linked to a beautiful baby girl who he knows is such a strong fighter because she gets it from her parents. More so from her father rather than her father, he thinks to himself. It's that particular thought in which he jumps into the next set of lyrics.
Ooh, you'll be in my heart,
(you'll be in my heart)
No matter what they say
(I'll be with you)
You'll be here in my heart
(I'll be with you)
Always
Always…
I'll be with you
I'll be there with you always
Always and always
As he nears the final lyrics to the song, he pulls back singing in a more soft and subdued way when he first started singing the song. In that instance, he closes his eyes once again and allows himself to get lost within the flow of the repeated lyrics.
Just look over your shoulder
Just look over your shoulder
Just look over your shoulder
I'll be there,
Always
Once he's done, he takes a momentary pause before opening his eyes to gaze out into the wondrously amazing crowd. After scanning the crowd, he eye line lands on and inevitably locks with Sarah to where he softly sings the lasts 4 words of the song.
I'll be there,
Always
When the last word he sings fades, he smiles and takes a step back then gives a small bow. In doing so, the courtyard explodes in chaotic mixture of chants, cheers, applause, and cheers. A special day for a special little girl who is considered to be absolutely unforgettable as long as he lives.
XXX
NOTE: I thought it was time for Chuck and Sarah to singing together, especially a Jimmy Buffet song. At one point, I considered having them sing You're The One That I Want" from the classic movie, Grease. Carina setting her sights on Morgan but then shoots a flirtatious wave to Lester causing Sarah to quickly stop her for her own sake. Also, Tommy introducing Hannah to Bryce and him being somewhat flirtatious with her. What's his deal? Finally, what did you think of Angel and CHARAH visiting the parent along with the newest Rockstar Rebel? The small moment accidentally captured by Morgan while filming. Plus, the song dedicated to Angel, and I thought using Phil Collin's song from Tarzan fit perfectly. So, what do you think? Share your thoughts and comment. As always, tip of the hat to NEVR for doing the beta.
