AGE 784
It has been months since the defeat of Lord Slug and the peace on Earth had remained unshaken. The Z-Fighters had gone back to their daily lives, each one of them contributing to the world in their own way.
Gohan was working on his presentation, Bulma was doing the finishing touches on the time machine and the youth serum, Trunks was doing his homework, Chesami, after finishing her homework, was helping her mother Maron with her fashion designs and Videl and her girlfriend Erasa were on their police patrol duty, making sure the city remained safe.
Life was normal and peaceful, but the heroes knew that could change in the blink of an eye. They were always ready for whatever might come next, their spirits as high as the dragon balls in the sky.
Capsule Corp
A while later, Trunks was gently playing with his one year old half-brother Bulhan. The little one giggled and clapped his hands as Trunks made silly faces, his mother Bulma looking on with affection. Despite the occasional whine from Bulhan, the house was filled with a comforting warmth, the kind that comes from a family that has faced danger together and emerged stronger for it.
As Bulma put the finishing touches on her new invention, she couldn't help but feel a twinge of excitement. The youth serum recipe they had found had been a surprise, and while she hadn't tried it herself, the possibility of unlocking the secrets of eternal youth had become a fascinating side project. She had been meticulously gathering the ingredients, some of which were rare and exotic, and now she was ready to begin her experiments.
"Man, hopefully this works... I don't want people giving Gohan weird looks when he kisses me in public," Bulma mumbled to herself as she examined the vial of serum she had just created. She had been working tirelessly, hoping to find a way to reverse the aging process without any nasty side effects.
"Mom, what's that?" Trunks asked, his curiosity peaking as he approached her.
"Remember that piece of paper you gave me a few months ago?" Bulma asked without looking up from her work.
Trunks nodded, "Yeah, the one from Slug's ship. What about it?"
"Well," Bulma said with a grin, holding up the vial of serum, "This is what I've been working on. It's based on that recipe. I think I've figured out how to make it work without turning anyone into a giant slug."
Trunks' eyes widened, "Really? Can I see?"
Bulma handed the vial to Trunks, who examined it carefully. It glowed a soft blue, reminiscent of the green serum the deceased Lord Slug used. "Cool," he murmured, passing it back to his mom.
"Now remember, this is highly experimental. We need to test it," Bulma said, her gaze shifting towards Erasa, who had stopped by the house for a visit.
Erasa noticed the vial and raised an eyebrow, "What's that?"
"It's the youth serum based on the recipe we found in Slug's ship," Bulma said, her eyes gleaming with excitement. "I've been working on it, and I think it's ready for a test run."
"You want to test it? Now?" Erasa's eyes lit up with curiosity, her hand reaching out to take the vial from Bulma. "I'd be happy to help out."
"Woah, woah, woah!" the owner of Capsule Corp took it right back, "Not on you! I need someone... less... important to test it on first"
"What do you mean by that?" Erasa asked with a pout.
"You're in your 20's! I'm in my early 50's!" Bulma said with a smirk, "You're already youthful, I want to test it on someone who actually needs it."
Erasa sighs "I guess I can't argue with that logic"
Bulma nods "Thankfully, I'll be testing it on myself first," she says, her voice steady with determination. She carefully opens the vial, the room growing quiet as she prepares to take the serum.
With a deep breath, Bulma tips the serum into her mouth, swirling it around before swallowing. The room seems to hold its breath as they wait for something to happen. Then, almost imperceptibly at first, a soft blue light begins to emanate from her, growing stronger with every passing second.
"Oh my god," Erasa whispers, her eyes wide.
"What's happening?" Trunks asks, his eyes glued to his mother as the light grows brighter.
"It's working," Bulma says, her voice filled with wonder. The light reaches its peak, then begins to fade away, leaving Bulma standing there, unchanged.
Trunks blinks, "But you're still the same..."
"Look closer," Erasa says, pointing at Bulma.
It was true that Bulma was still old... However, it seems that the wrinkles around her eyes and mouth had smoothed out, her skin had become more vibrant, and some of the grays in her hair had disappeared, leaving only a vibrant blue. She looked to be in her early thirties, a stark contrast to the woman who had walked into the room mere minutes ago.
"Wow... I'm still in my 50's... and yet.. I feel like I'm in my prime!" Bulma said as she looked into the mirror, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
"Mom... You look amazing!" Trunks exclaimed, a look of wonder on his face.
Bulma twirled around, examining herself in the mirror. "It really worked! And I feel...so alive!"
"Great, now your hubby Gohan won't be kissing a grandma anymore, ha!" Erasa teased, a playful grin on her face.
Bulma stuck her tongue out at her, "It's not about looking young for Gohan, it's about having more time together!"
Trunks chuckles in embarrassment, "I'm sure my mentor slash step-dad will be thrilled to know you're doing this for him too."
"Well, of course!" Bulma beams, "Now, let's get this serum out to the others. I can't wait to see their reactions!"
Trunks took a communication device from his pocket and suggested, "We should call them first."
Bulma agreed excitedly, "Good idea, son."
...
A while later, Gohan, Videl, and their families gathered in Bulma's lab, the room buzzing with excitement as they waited for the results of the youth serum. Gohan looked slightly nervous, his hand resting on Bulma's shoulder as she explained the process she had gone through to refine the serum.
"And that's how I gained back my prime! I'm still 50 years old but I look like I'm 30!" Bulma exclaimed, her youthful glow seemingly infecting the room with excitement.
Videl and Erasa exchanged glances, a silent understanding passing between them. They were both young and beautiful, but the allure of eternal youth was undeniable. Chi-Chi, on the other hand, raised an eyebrow at the mention of Gohan kissing a "grandma".
"Now, don't get any ideas," she warned playfully, though the hint of seriousness in her tone suggested she wasn't entirely joking.
The group chuckled awkwardly, and then the room fell silent again as Bulma held up the serum, "Alright, who's first?"
Chi-Chi stepped forward, her curiosity getting the better of her. "I'll go first," she said, her voice a mix of excitement and trepidation.
Bulma nodded, pouring a small amount of the serum into a glass. "Remember, only a sip," she cautioned as she handed it to Chi-Chi.
With a determined look, Chi-Chi raised the glass to her lips and took a small sip. The serum had no taste, but as it slid down her throat, she felt a warm, tingling sensation spread throughout her body. The room grew tense as everyone watched, waiting for the transformation.
Slowly, the same soft blue light that had enveloped Bulma began to glow from within Chi-Chi. Her body visibly relaxed, and the lines on her face smoothed out. The grays in her hair retreated, leaving a vibrant black that shimmered with the same energy as the serum.
Gohan's eyes widened in amazement as he watched his mother transform. "Mom, you look... incredible!" he said, his voice filled with awe.
The room erupted in applause and cheers as Chi-Chi blushed and looked at herself in the mirror. "I do feel different," she murmured, her eyes sparkling with youthful vitality. The transformation was not just physical, but she exuded an aura of vibrancy and energy that she hadn't felt in decades.
"Mrs. Chi-Chi, you look... well, you're still old but you look fantastic!" Erasa couldn't help but laugh at the sight of the youthful glow surrounding the usually stern woman.
"Erasa!" Videl playfully admonished her, though she too was smiling.
The room's excitement grew as the others began to consider the possibilities of the serum, "Maron, you're the next and last one!" Bulma exclaimed, handing her former rival the glass.
"Hmmm... I'm okay where I'm at... But I'll take it with me for safekeeping," Maron said with a wink, taking the serum, putting it in a small capsule and placing it in her pocket. She may not be a woman who appreciated the wisdom that came with age, but she couldn't deny the allure of looking as young as she felt since she recently got to her early 40's.
Videl leaned over to Erasa and whispered, "Guess you're right about them not looking like 'grandmas' anymore.
Erasa giggled, "Told you so, Videl, haha!"
"Oh shut it!" Chi-Chi and Bulma said in unison, rolling their eyes at Erasa's playful teasing. The room erupted in laughter as the tension from the transformation dissipated.
Later at Night
Gohan was getting ready for bed, brushing his teeth and taking a shower. His mind was racing with the events of the evening. He couldn't believe the serum had worked. He was happy for Bulma and Chi-Chi, but he felt a strange mix of emotions. Part of him was envious of their newfound vitality, and another part of him felt a sense of loss for the years he had already lived.
'Well, at least Mom and Bulma are happy,' Gohan thought to himself as he toweled off his hair. He stepped into their bedroom, the faint scent of the serum lingering in the air. Bulma looked up from her laptop, her newfound youth reflecting in the glow of the screen.
"Hey babe~" Bulma said, noticing Gohan enter the room. She had a playful glint in her eyes, the same glint she had when they first started secretly dating.
Gohan couldn't help but smile, "You look amazing, Bulma."
"Thanks," she said, standing up and walking over to him. "How do you feel about it?"
Gohan hesitated for a moment before speaking, "I'm happy for you, but I can't help but feel a bit... left out, I guess."
"Oh, Gohan...~" Bulma sighed, stepping closer to him and placing a hand on his chest. "You know I'd never leave you behind," she whispered, her voice filled with affection, "Also if it makes you feel better and in case you forgot, due to being half-saiyan, how matter how old you get, you'll always look like you're in your prime."
"Oh right... I forgot about tha-" Gohan's words were cut off by Bulma's smirk as she leaned closer to him, her hand sliding up to cup his cheek.
"Exactly," she said, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "But you know what this means, don't you?"
Gohan looked at her, a question in his eyes, "N-Not... really?"
"It means," Bulma whispered, her hand sliding down to his chest, "you can enjoy watching me age in reverse while you stay exactly the same." She leaned in closer, her lips brushing against his ear, "It's like I've been given a second chance at being young with you all over again."
"Um, Bulma, back when you were young, I was a kid back then, and you were in your 20's to 30's" Gohan gently reminds her, recalling how they first met and the adventures on Namek.
Bulma giggled, "I know, but think of it as us getting to grow old together, yet looking like we're just starting out. Besides, I've always had a thing for younger men," she winked at him playfully.
Gohan blushed, "Well, if you put it that way..." He wrapped his arms around her, pulling her into a warm embrace. The two of them stood there, basking in the glow of the moment, feeling the weight of the years fall away from them.
"But we can't forget about the others," Bulma said, breaking the silence. "They'll all want to try it too."
"True, but only if we get their consent and when they to get 40's or 50's," Gohan said, his arms still around Bulma.
"Of course," Bulma nodded, her cheek resting against his chest. "We don't want to mess with the natural order of things, and we still have to make sure there are no long-term side effects."
Gohan nodded in agreement, "Yeah, let's keep this between us for now."
"Good... Now, how about you give your sexy wife some love?~" Bulma purred, her hands sliding up his back. Gohan chuckled, his nerves from the earlier events melting away as he leaned down to kiss her. The kiss grew deeper, and the passion between them ignited like it did in their android survival days, their bodies pressed against each other.
...
The next morning, the hum of machinery filled the Capsule Corp lab. Bulma was bustling around, organizing the final preparations for the boys' trip. Trunks, fidgeting with excitement and a touch of nervousness, was practically vibrating with anticipation. Gohan, however, still felt a knot of anxiety in his stomach. He knew the risks of time travel, the potential to unravel the fabric of reality. He missed his father, Piccolo, his friends – the thought of seeing them again was tempting. But he'd fought hard for his life, for the family he'd built with Bulma and their son, Bulhan. He didn't want to jeopardize it all. The idea of altering his timeline, even for the best of intentions, felt like playing with a loaded gun.
He glanced at Bulma, her eyes sparkling with the same youthful energy he'd seen the night before. He knew she was doing this to help, to give them a chance at a better tomorrow, but a deep-seated fear held him back. A fear that he might lose everything he held dear, everything he'd worked so hard to create.
"Honey, are you okay?" Bulma asked, noticing the furrow in Gohan's brow as she handed him the last of the supplies they would need for their journey.
"Yeah," Gohan replied, though the uncertainty in his voice was palpable. He took a deep breath, "It's just... What if something goes wrong? What if we can't fix the past?"
Bulma stepped over to him, placing her hand on his shoulder. "Gohan, I know you're worried, but we have to at least try. We can't just sit here and let our future crumble because we're afraid of the unknown." Her voice was firm, yet filled with understanding. "We've faced worse, and we've always come out stronger."
"True..." Gohan sighed, his gaze drifting to the time machine. It stood tall and gleaming, a testament to Bulma's brilliance. Yet, it was also a stark reminder of the precarious situation they faced. The fate of their world, and perhaps countless others, rested on their success.
"Don't worry, Gohan, you and I can do this!" Trunks said, slapping Gohan on the back with an enthusiasm that was infectious. His eyes shone with the same determination that Gohan remembered from their battles against the androids.
Gohan managed a small smile, "You're right, Trunks. We can't let fear hold us back."
The two boys then turned to Bulma, "We're ready"
"Alright, let's go," she said, her voice filled with both excitement and a hint of anxiety. She had spent months perfecting the time machine, ensuring that it would not only be safe for them to travel through time but also be able to handle the strain of repeated trips. The device hummed to life, its energy core pulsating with a gentle rhythm that seemed to echo the beating hearts of its creators.
...
Outside of the house, Gohan and Trunks were getting ready to use the time machine. Bulma gives Gohan the medicine to cure Goku's heart disease. "Make sure you give this to your father as soon as you can," she instructed, her voice firm yet gentle. Gohan nodded, his hand closing tightly around the small vial. It was a symbol of hope, a beacon in the bleakness of their timeline.
"I will," Gohan assures her before wrapping his arm around her, "We'll be back, babe"
Bulma nodded, fighting back tears. "I know you will," she whispered, trying to keep her voice steady. She had seen the destruction that awaited them in the future, and while they were able to destroy the androids and Lord Slug, she knew that the peace wouldn't last long and that their success was not guaranteed.
The two then kissed passionately, as if trying to hold onto the present moment before diving into the unknown. Erasa and Videl watched from the doorway, their hearts swelling with pride for the courage of their friends. Little Bulhan was asleep in Erasa's arms, oblivious to the gravity of the situation.
Trunks, embarrassed, cleared his throat, "Alright, Gohan, you can kiss my mom when we get back."
Gohan chuckled and stepped back, "Come on, let's go."
The two of them climbed into the time machine, the metal hatch clanging shut behind them. Bulma took a moment to ensure everything was in place before she started the countdown. "Three... Two... One..." The machine roared to life, going up to the sky and with a brilliant flash of light, it disappeared into the fabric of time.
As such, Gohan and Trunks were able to get to the past with minimal difficulty. Upon arriving, they quickly defeated Mecha Frieza, King Cold, their men and later met the younger versions of Gohan, Vegeta and Bulma, as well as their friends.
Shortly thereafter, Goku arrived on Earth. Gohan and Trunks then informed him of the events set to take place in three years' time and gave him the heart medicine. Goku, overjoyed and shocked by the news, promised to take it. Despite the gravity of the situation, a sense of relief washed over Gohan, knowing that his father's life was no longer hanging by a thread.
The two then made their way back to Bulma in the future...
Back in the future, Bulma was waiting anxiously for Gohan and Trunks to return. She had spent hours pacing the lab, her mind racing with the potential outcomes of their mission. The silence was broken by the unmistakable roar of the time machine as it reappeared outside of the house, the hatch opening to reveal Gohan and Trunks, both looking slightly disheveled but triumphant.
She ran outside and saw the boys coming out of the time machine.
"We're back, Mom" Trunks called out as they emerged from the time machine. Bulma rushed to them, her eyes scanning over her son and Gohan for any signs of injury.
"Did everything go okay?" Bulma's voice was filled with both excitement and concern.
"Yeah, we were able to meet Goku and gave him the heart medicine," Trunks said, a bit out of breath.
"R-Really?" Bulma's eyes widened.
Gohan then hugged her, "he's gonna be fine, he's going to live. Thank you, Bulma, you saved my father"
"I'm just happy I could help," Bulma said, her eyes misty.
Bulma can finally put things to rest, she did it, she saved Goku, maybe not the one from this timeline, but she saved him and that's all that matters.
She then stopped crying a bit and looked at the two, "So, did you two happen to meet everyone else?"
"We did," Gohan nodded, "I was happy to see them all again... Krillin, Tien, Yamcha... Piccolo..."
"Hehe, yeah," Trunks agreed with a smile, "It was my first time meeting them all. Oh, we also saw a younger you and Gohan... Oh, and father, of course," he added with a chuckle.
"Oh, you met a younger me? Well, what do you think? I was quite the looker, wasn't I?~" Bulma said with a playful nudge to Trunks' ribs, "I mean, that hasn't changed, obviously"
Trunks rolled his eyes, "Mom, you're still beautiful."
...
The three of them entered the lab, and Bulma immediately began bombarding them with questions about their journey. "So, you said you met Vegeta, right? I bet he gave you two one heck of a bad time"
"Y-Yeah, I met Father," Trunks said, "I wouldn't say he was a pain, but he was... unfriendly"
"That's putting it lightly," Gohan chuckled, remembering Vegeta's cold demeanor in the past.
"I could tell he had a strong sense of pride, though," Trunks added, trying to paint a more nuanced picture of his father's younger self.
Bulma nodded, a knowing smile on her face. She had always known Vegeta was more complex than he let on, "Haha, yeah, that's him."
"He was pretty standoffish, so I didn't get to talk to him that much. Which was good, I guess. Couldn't let him find out who I am" Trunks said, his voice filled with a hint of amusement, "But I'm glad that I was able to meet him"
"That's good, Trunks," Gohan said, his eyes serious. "We need to be careful not to mess with the timeline too much."
"Yeah, maybe it's best that you and Vegeta don't talk too much. You might end up regretting meeting him. Back then, he was... different" Bulma said, her eyes drifting off into the past.
"You could say that again" Gohan agreed with a chuckle, "He... Had a lot to prove"
"So he really was a difficult person then, huh?" Trunks said, his voice filled with curiosity.
"Well, kind of," Gohan admits, his smile fading as he recounts the memories of Vegeta's past, "But he had his reasons, and he's come a long way since then."
"Yeah," Bulma agrees with her husband, "Vegeta may seem cold, but he wasn't always like that, you know"
"Really? I'm sure I would've learned that if I spent more time with him" Trunks said thoughtfully.
Gohan gently pats his step-son's shoulder, "You will, Trunks... Now, all we have to do is wait til the androids get there and provide support."
"Yeah... I wonder how Goku and the others are going to fight the androids," Trunks mused, his mind racing with the implications of their mission, "Hope they can find a way to beat them"
"I'm sure they will," Bulma assures her son before turning to Gohan, "Alright, I'll get started on making the time machine in working order again and charge up some energy for another trip for you and Trunks"
"Thanks Bulma, we're counting on you," Gohan said, his eyes filled with a mix of hope and concern.
"Awww," Bulma said with a gentle sigh as she kisses Gohan on the cheek, "It's gonna take some time though, so you and Trunks make sure that you two are good to go"
"We'll be fine," Gohan assured her, "We've come a long way since we faced the androids last time."
"Well, you're the one who destroyed them" Trunks replies with a smirk.
"True..." Gohan mused to Trunks, "Okay, since Bulma is going to be working on the time machine again, we can use the time to train ourselves for the fight ahead"
Trunks nodded, "Sounds like a plan. We need to be ready for anything."
…
Several Months later, Gohan was training with his students - Trunks, Chesami, Videl and Erasa. The youthful Bulma watched from afar, her heart swelling with pride as she observed Gohan's dedication to not just their mission, but to their family's future. During that time, she had made countless modifications to the time machine.
"Gohan! Trunks! Good news! Get inside!" She called out, her voice carrying over the sound of their sparring.
"Coming, Mom!" Trunks called out before turning to his girlfriend Chesami and kissed her on the cheek, "See ya later."
...
Gohan, slightly out of breath, followed Trunks into the lab, his curiosity piqued by Bulma's urgent tone. The sight of Bulma's youthful visage and her infectious excitement made him feel a bit more at ease.
"Ta-Da!" Bulma announced, gesturing to the time machine with a flourish. "It's ready for another trip, and this time, it's going to be smoother than ever!"
Gohan and Trunks exchanged glances, the gravity of their next journey weighing on their expressions. They had spent the months since their first trip honing their skills, preparing for the inevitable battle with the androids.
"Now you two can go back to the past and help the others fight the androids!" Bulma exclaimed, her eyes gleaming with excitement.
"I hope that they'll be okay," Trunks whispered to himself as he tightened his grip on the time machine's handles.
Gohan noticed the worry in his eyes, "Don't worry, we'll be fine, and we're not going in blind this time. We know what to expect."
"Don't sweat it, you two... Maybe they already defeated the androids and brought peace back to the world" Bulma said, trying to lighten the mood as she gave them both a firm nod, her confidence unshakable.
"If that's the case, it would be nice if we could bring the others back here with us" Trunks said, his voice hopeful.
"Well, the time machine only has room for two people, but I can totally see the others cramming their way in anyway," Bulma joked, trying to ease the tension in the room, "Goku would help at the chance to take on more powerful opponents. Heh heh."
"Yep! That's my dad" Gohan said, his voice filled with affectionate amusement.
"Yeah, based on what you two told me... And when I saw him... He would definitely love to come here and kick some ass" Trunks said, a hint of pride in his voice.
"Yeah..." Bulma smiled before getting serious, "But if they haven't defeated the androids, you two are planning on joining in the fight, right?"
"Of course," Trunks said firmly, "We can't just sit around and wait for them to fail. We're their only hope."
"Besides, I destroyed the androids once, and with our combined strength, we can do it again," Gohan added, his voice filled with the same conviction that had seen him through countless battles.
Bulma then walked up to her husband and kissed him on the lips, "J-Just be careful, okay? I almost lost you once... I can't bear to lose you again," she whispered, her voice filled with fear.
"I promise, Bulma," Gohan replied, holding her tightly. "We'll be back before you know it."
"Yeah, and we're gonna kick some serious butt!" Trunks exclaimed, his fist raised high.
Bulma giggled as she looked at Trunks, "That's good, Trunks. Just be careful... and don't get yourself killed, okay?"
"Don't worry, I'll be careful," Trunks assured her, "And you stay safe too, Mom"
...
The two warriors went back outside and got inside of the time machine. Bulma gave them one last check-over, ensuring that everything was in order before initiating the countdown. She, Chi-Chi, Maron, Videl, Erasa and Chesami, who was holding baby Bulhan, were watching the time machine go up to the sky, disappearing again into the fabric of time.
And so, Gohan and Trunks made their way back to the past. Little did they realize that there were two more different androids waiting for them, as well as the less ruthless but still dangerous Androids 17 and 18.
They also met a different android known as 16, who was much more empathetic than the ones they were used to. The encounter with 16 was unexpected and brought a new layer of complexity to their mission. He was created by the same scientist, Dr. Gero, but had a unique personality. He was designed with the sole purpose to kill Son Goku but had a soft spot for nature and life, which often put him at odds with 17 and 18. While 17 was amused at the very least, 18 was annoyed by it. However, even they started to question their existence and purpose after meeting and hanging out with 16.
That was when things became worse when Cell, a bio-android far deadlier than the other androids, had appeared and threatened all life on Earth. His power was immense, and he grew stronger by absorbing other beings. His goal was quite simple... Absorb the androids 17 and 18 to become... PERFECT.
After absorbing them both, Cell reached his ultimate form, Perfect Cell, his body a terrifying blend of biomechanical precision and raw, unbridled power. He then decided to host a martial arts tournament called the Cell Games to fight worthy opponents, with the fate of the world hanging in the balance.
Cell was a threat indeed... But thanks to Goku and the others' training, as well as Gohan and his younger self transforming into Super Saiyan 2, a form beyond of a Super Saiyan, Cell was defeated.
With peace now restored in the past, Gohan and Trunks returned to the future, more determined to protect the peace in their era.
AGE 785
Back in the future, the time machine appears in the air and lands onto the ground. Gohan and Trunks then got out of the machine.
"That was... intense," Trunks said, wiping the sweat from his brow as they exited the time machine. The thrill of victory was palpable, but the weight of their responsibility was never far from their minds.
Gohan nodded solemnly, "We've done it. We've changed the past."
The two of them looked around, expecting to see a drastically different future, but everything looked the same. Bulma, Chesami, Chi-Chi, Erasa, and Maron rushed out of the house to greet them, all looking exactly as they had before they left.
"You're back!" Bulma exclaimed.
"Gohan!" Chi-Chi ran and hugged her son, "I'm so glad that you're back! And Trunks, you too!"
That was when Bulma noticed that her mentor had a beard, "Woah, Gohan, you've been gone for a bit, huh?" she teased, poking his cheek.
"Hehe, you could say that," Gohan said, rubbing his chin.
Chesami noticed her boyfriend's long hair, "Wow, Trunks~, you're really letting it grow out!" She exclaimed, "And wait, you and Gohan look taller too!"
"Actually, now that you mentioned it, my Gohan and Trunks does look a bit... different," Bulma said, eyeing Gohan and Trunks curiously. She had noticed the subtle changes in their demeanor and their newfound confidence. The two had returned from the past with a sense of urgency and determination that seemed to have etched itself into their very beings.
Gohan, understanding that their experience wasn't going to be a casual conversation, took a deep breath and began to speak. "When we went to the past," he started, his voice tinged with seriousness, "there was a place called the Hyperbolic Time Chamber." He hesitated, knowing the explanation would be complex, "We spent a very long time training there… to become stronger."
"I spent there with Vegeta for a year, and Gohan did the same with Piccolo," Trunks said, his voice filled with wonder as he recounted their experiences. "It's like we've lived a lifetime in just a few months."
Bulma stared, her mind trying to reconcile the incredible claim with the two young men before her. "Well, I don't know what that means, but I'm just glad that you two are oka-" She stopped, noticing Trunks' stern expression. "…You okay, Trunks?"
Trunks took a deep breath before throwing out a question that had been burning in his mind. "Hey Mom! You ever met Dad?" He referred to his father, Vegeta, a man his younger self knew only from stories, a man he just spent endless hours training with.
Bulma sighed, the weight of her complicated past settling upon her. "Okay look, love is complicated." She threw her hands up in mock exasperation, which drew a hearty laugh from Gohan.
"And Gohan," Trunks suddenly exclaimed, turning to his friend, a playful smirk on his face. "When were you going to tell me you were a major nerd!"
Gohan, caught off guard, laughed sheepishly. "Sue me," he replied, his grin wide, "I'm allowed to have my own childhood."
Inside of the Capsule Corp, everyone was having dinner, the laughter and chatter of the family echoing through the room. Gohan took a bite of his food, feeling the warmth spread through his body. The taste was familiar, but the context was not. The past felt like a distant dream, but the power he had gained was very much real. He looked over at Bulma, who was busy serving everyone, her eyes sparkling with the excitement of their recent success.
"Seriously, Mom, what did you see in him?!" Trunks asked, referring to the younger version of Vegeta he had met in the past.
"A short, stubborn, powerful person desperate for recognition. As a female scientist in her early thirties, I guess I identified with that. Plus, he had a certain charm," Bulma replied with a wink, causing the room to erupt in laughter.
"But seriously, your dad's changed a lot. And I think he's changed for the better," she added, a hint of affection in her voice as she glanced at Gohan.
Gohan blushed, "Yeah, Vegeta was... a bit of a surprise," he admitted, remembering the Saiyan's transformation into a more somewhat compassionate warrior in the past. "But we all have our moments."
"Yeah, apparently, you're his baby boy, so... he wasn't all bad, right?" Bulma asked rhetorically, her voice filled with humor.
Trunks answered her with, "A revelation that came at the cost of my literal life. Then again, considering the dysfunction of that whole group... maybe I'm not the worst off."
"Because our mothers raised us right" Gohan quipped, earning another round of laughter.
"Damn straight!" Bulma and Chi-Chi chorused, their laughter mingling with the sound of clinking dishes.
Then, Trunks's smile faltered, his gaze becoming hesitant. He fidgeted with his fork, clearly grappling with something. "Oh. About that…" He cleared his throat. "Before your past self found out that I was your son and that Gohan was the future self of his past self… in the past…" He paused, a sheepish look on his face. "You… might've made a pass at Gohan."
The table went quiet. Chi-Chi sighed, a long-suffering sound that spoke volumes. "Of course, she would…"
Bulma, however, didn't seem fazed. In a tone that could only be described as matter-of-fact, she stated, "Well, duh."
"Mom!" Trunks exclaimed, his cheeks flushing a shade of pink to match his hair.
Bulma shrugged, a playful glint back in her eyes. "Hey, it's not my fault that Gohan was so hot."
The words hung in the air for a moment, before erupting into another wave of laughter. Gohan, embarrassed, buried his face in his hands, the heat of the blush spreading across his neck and ears.
"Oh, come on, it's not that big of a deal," he protested weakly, his muffled voice barely heard over the chuckles.
But Bulma wasn't done teasing him yet, "It's fine, Trunks. Your dad's not the only one with good taste."
Trunks rolled his eyes, "Mom, please!"
"B-Bulma," Gohan stuttered, his face redder than a ripe tomato, "That was a... misunderstanding."
"Oh, I know," Bulma said with a wink, "But you two should've seen the look on your faces when you realized who each other was!"
The room erupted in laughter once again, the tension dissipating like mist in the sun. Even Chi-Chi couldn't help but chuckle at the absurdity of the situation. Gohan peeked through his fingers, his embarrassment slowly giving way to amusement.
The future looked brighter than ever as the group sat around the dinner table, the youthfulness of Bulma and Chi-Chi a stark reminder of their successful mission. Yet, amidst the laughter and light-hearted banter, the shadow of their past battles and the uncertainty of their future remained a silent guest.
Even both Trunks and Gohan knew that there was one more android that had to be destroyed once and for all once he appeared... Cell.
Three Years Later... (AGE 788)
Outside of the Capsule Corp, Gohan, Trunks, Chesami, Videl, Erasa, Chi-Chi, Bulma and Maron were next to the time machine, talking to each other. Everyone were saying their goodbyes to Gohan and Trunks as the two wanted to see everyone again.
"Don't worry, we'll be back before you know it," Gohan reassured Bulma, giving her a warm smile. "We're just going to keep an eye on things and make sure everything goes smoothly."
Trunks nodded, "And maybe give them a surprise visit or two."
Bulma sighed, "Just don't cause any trouble, you two," she said, though the fondness in her eyes belied her words.
"Tell dad that I said hi!" Chesami called out as Gohan and Trunks walked towards the time machine.
However, before the two could even climb into the time machine, they sense a disturbance in the air. It was a familiar feeling, one that sent chills down their spines.
Gohan turned to the others, "Bulma, you and the others get inside. We'll handle this."
Her eyes widened, "What? What is it?!"
"Just trust us," Trunks said, his voice firm, his hand reaching for the time machine's door handle, "We've got this."
The air around them grew heavy with the anticipation of an approaching battle. They knew what the disturbance meant; their future was once again under threat.
Chesami, Erasa, Videl, Chi-Chi, Bulma and Maron ran into the safety of the house, their laughter replaced with the urgency of the moment. Gohan and Trunks exchanged a solemn nod before turning to face the unknown menace approaching them. The air was charged with energy, and their hair began to stand on end as the presence grew stronger.
"We know you're out there... Cell," Gohan called out, his eyes scanning the horizon for any signs of movement.
"WHAT?!" Imperfect Cell's voice was filled with shock and disbelief as he was hiding behind a building.
"You planned on killing us so you can take the time machine and achieve your perfect form, am I right?" Trunks demanded, his fists clenched at his sides.
"How... How could you two POSSIBLY know that?!" Cell's voice grew louder and more menacing as he stepped out from his hiding place. His incomplete form was a twisted amalgamation of organic and mechanical parts, his eyes glowing with malevolent intent.
"Your plan's gonna fail... Because we're gonna stop you, right here and now" Gohan said, his voice steely with resolve. His muscles tensed as he watched Cell emerge, the power of the Super Saiyan 2 form resonating through his body.
"My plan's gonna fail, is it?" Cell chuckled darkly, his eyes narrowing as he sized up his opponents. "Well, aren't you two awfully cocky..."
"Cell... Your perfect form is indeed powerful, there's no doubt about that. Even my powers were either close to or little to no match for you," Gohan began, his gaze never wavering from the menacing creature before them, "But as you are now... Trunks and I are more than enough to stop you"
Cell sneered, "Oh, I get it! So you two went to the past... It's the only way you two have known so much about me... So sneaky~"
Trunks smirked, "Yeah, you could say we've had some... practice." He flexed his muscles, the power of the time-traveled training pulsating in every fiber of his being.
...
Inside of the house, the women could see the silhouettes of Gohan and Trunks facing off against Cell through the windows, their expressions taut with determination. Bulma clutched her chest, her heart racing with fear for her loved ones.
"So... This must be the 'Cell' Gohan and Trunks were telling us about," Videl said, her voice tight with anxiety.
"Ugh... That guy looks so impulsive," Maron said, peering through the window with a look of distaste.
"You can say that again, Mom," Chesami murmured, her eyes fixed on the battle unfolding outside. "But we know they can handle it."
"I hope so," Chi-Chi said, her voice filled with worry as she watched her son and her friend's son face the monstrous being.
...
The five-year old Bulhan was reading his book when he took a glance at the window... He was quite shocked to see his father and half-brother/uncle go up against something... so ugly and terrible...
...
Back outside of the house
"But I'm surprised to hear that you two could beat me in your current forms," Cell mused, his eyes gleaming with a mix of curiosity and contempt. "Gohan, Trunks... I have plenty of data on you two, thanks to my spy robots."
The tension grew palpable as the two warriors stood their ground. Gohan's eyes flashed, "Data or no data, you're not going to win."
The imperfect monster then laughed, "Hahahaha! You idiots! You think you stand a chance?! You two couldn't even defeat on Androids 17 and 18 together!" He then points at Gohan, "And you lost an arm in the process so you had it replaced with a metal arm! Pathetic!"
Gohan's expression grew grim, his jaw clenching. "You don't know the half of it," he said through gritted teeth. "We've come a long way since then. And we won't let you take another step towards our future."
"That's right," Trunks agreed before letting out a smirk, "And besides, if my mentor couldn't beat 17 and 18 as you say, then why aren't they around anymore?"
"WHAT?!" Imperfect Cell roared in fury. He hadn't anticipated this turn of events. He then realized something, "You two... What do you two mean?!"
Gohan's expression also grew serious, "Use your head, Cell," he said calmly, despite the rage simmering just beneath the surface. "You think we'd be here if they were still a threat?"
Cell then finally figured it out, "Impossible... So you're the reason why Androids 17 and 18 are gone... It's because of YOU!"
Gohan's eyes narrowed, "We did what we had to," he said firmly. "But now it's your turn."
"My turn, huh...? We'll see about that" Imperfect Cell mused as he got into his fighting stance.
However, Trunks walked towards him, "We're not fighting here in West City. People have worked too hard to rebuild this place," he said firmly.
"Trunks is right," Gohan said, his voice steady. "We'll take this fight elsewhere. We can't risk innocent lives."
The two Saiyans turned and began to sprint away from West City, Cell hot on their heels. Their speed was blinding, a blur of color as they streaked through the landscape. Bulma watched them vanish into the horizon, her heart in her throat. She knew the power they had gained, but facing Cell was a terrifying prospect.
...
The three made it to a desolate wasteland, a place where their battle would leave no trace. The sky was a stark contrast to the barren earth, the setting sun casting a crimson glow across the scene. Gohan and Trunks turned to face their adversary, the gravity of their decision weighing on their shoulders like an invisible mantle of responsibility.
"I hope you're prepared to meet your maker... in Hell! Because I'm pretty sure that's where Dr. Gero is." Trunks quipped, his eyes gleaming with a fierce determination as he faced the monstrous creature before them.
"Ohohoho. You think you're being CUTE?!" Imperfect Cell chuckled, his eyes narrowing as he watched the two Saiyans with growing contempt.
"Bitch... I'm adorable" Trunks retorted, his voice dripping with sarcasm as he transforms into a Super Saiyan. His eyes never leaving Cell's monstrous form.
Imperfect Cell then glares and points at Gohan, "And you... You have beaten Androids 17 and 18 and gotten a bit stronger than before... But if you think that you could beat me, well, you're kidding yourself... YOU'RE WEAK!"
"We're not weak," Gohan responded, his own power surging, "And we're not fighting alone." With a fierce shout, Gohan's hair grew straight, and his body was bathed in a golden aura. The air crackled with power as he transformed into a Super Saiyan 2, his eyes blazing with a fiery determination that matched Trunks'.
"We'll make sure that you don't make it to the past!" Trunks shouted, his voice echoing across the wasteland, his fists clenched at his sides, his aura pulsing with a fiery yellow energy.
"You... You PATHETIC CHILDREN!" Imperfect Cell roared, his eyes glinting with rage as he faced the two Super Saiyans before him.
The three charged at each other, their battle cries piercing the quiet evening air. Gohan and Trunks moved in a synchronized dance of power, each strike and dodge a testament to the years of training they had undergone in the past (both literary and timeline speaking). Cell, caught off guard by their sudden unity and growth, struggled to keep up with their combined might.
However, even now, Cell wasn't going to give up so easily, "I am the ultimate android, created by the great Dr. Gero! It's scientifically impossible for anyone to best me!"
"We'll see" Trunks states.
The battle raged on, a whirlwind of fists and energy beams. The ground beneath their feet cracked and shuddered with every impact, the very air seemed to distort around their auras. Gohan and Trunks had learned from their past experiences, their movements precise and calculated. They had become a well-oiled machine, each move complementing the other's in a display of teamwork that Goku and even Vegeta would've been proud of.
"Ngh... Damn you for robbing me of Androids 17 and 18! I deserve perfection!" Imperfect Cell bellowed, his rage fueling his power as he threw everything he had at the duo.
"Heh, I just gave them a taste of the pain they loved inflicting on others!" Gohan retorted, dodging another of Cell's energy blasts. The air around him rippled with the effort of his evasion, leaving a trail of golden afterimages in his wake.
Trunks took the opportunity to land a powerful punch to Cell's side, sending him spiraling through the air. "You're not getting out of here alive!"
Cell smirked, his body repairing itself almost instantaneously. "You may have beaten 17 and 18, but I am their superior in every way!" He gathered his energy and launched a massive ki blast at the Saiyans, the ground around them exploding into a fiery inferno.
But Gohan and Trunks had anticipated this. They leaped into the air, their bodies moving in perfect harmony as they weave through the fiery onslaught, each one dodging and countering with a grace that belied their power. The intensity of their battle was matched only by the intensity of their resolve.
Cell couldn't believe this. His power was unrivaled, or so he thought. Yet here he was, facing two Saiyans that had somehow grown stronger than he ever anticipated.
"Grrr... If only I could've achieve my perfect form, then you two would be nothing to me! NOTHING!" Imperfect Cell growled as he clenched his fists, the anger in his voice palpable.
"Sorry, but you're never getting your perfect form!" Gohan shouted, as he and Trunks descended upon Cell, their fists and feet striking like bolts of lightning. Each hit landed with a resounding thud, sending shockwaves through the barren wasteland.
"Yeah... Earth has finally gained its peace, and my friends and I are intending to keep it that way!" Trunks exclaimed, his eyes gleaming with the same fiery determination as Gohan's.
Imperfect Cell crashed onto the ground before flying back up to the air, "Tremble before my awesome power!" He roared as he powered himself up even further, his aura growing larger. He then flew right towards them.
Gohan and Trunks remained unfazed, their expressions stoic as they stared down the approaching thrall of power that was Imperfect Cell. As he grew closer, they could feel the pressure of his aura, like a crushing weight upon their chests. But instead of succumbing to fear, their determination only grew stronger.
They charged at him as well, the battle continuing in a dizzying display of speed and power. Each time Cell threw a punch, Gohan and Trunks would counter with a volley of their own, their fists colliding with a sound that could shake the very fabric of the universe.
As they fought, Gohan felt something stir within him, something he hadn't felt in years. It was the power of the Z-Warriors, the power of his friends from the past. He could feel their spirits with him, guiding his every move.
"A half-saiyan like you two is no match for a superior being like me!" Imperfect Cell taunted, his movements growing more erratic as his power surged.
"Well, these half-saiyans are going to beat you!" Trunks shouted back, his fists glowing with the intensity of his anger and resolve.
Cell's eyes narrowed, his smugness slipping for a moment, "You think you can beat me with just that?!" He sneered, charging another powerful energy ball and throwing it at them.
Gohan and Trunks remained unfazed and flew towards the energy ball, the both of them reflecting it back at Cell with a combined Kamehameha wave. The force of their combined attack sent Cell reeling backwards, his smug smile replaced with a grimace of pain.
"D-Damn it!" Imperfect Cell cursed, his body being pushed back by the sheer power of the combined Kamehameha. He knew he had underestimated them. The power of two Super Saiyans working in tandem was not something to be trifled with.
"Th-This can't be happening... I... I am the ultimate android! I can't lose to brats like you two! Dammit!" He roared, his voice echoing through the wasteland as he felt the power of the Kamehameha pushing him back. Luckily for him, he disappeared before the Kamehameha could vaporize him.
However, the fight still wasn't over, "No! We have to stop you to save Earth! To save our friends! To save our families!" Gohan exclaimed, his eyes blazing with a fierce determination that mirrored Trunks' own.
"Cell... This ends here!" Trunks called out, his voice echoing through the wasteland, as he and Gohan gave chase to the retreating figure of their enemy.
The two Super Saiyans pushed themselves to their limits, their eyes locked on the fading form of Imperfect Cell. The power that had once seemed unbeatable was now within their grasp. The air rippled with the fury of their pursuit, their auras leaving a trail of distorted space in their wake.
Imperfect Cell couldn't believe this... He couldn't lost... He wouldn't lose... HE CAN'T LOSE!
"I... I..." He stuttered as he felt the ground shake with their pursuit, "I can't die here! Not like this!" With a roar of defiance, Cell stops in his tracks and turns to face them, his body pulsing with a sickly green aura.
"I AM THE ULTIMATE BEING!" He roared as he threw his arms out to his sides, his body swelling with power and its aura.
Gohan and Trunks could feel the ground tremble beneath their feet as Cell prepared for a desperate final assault. They knew they had to end this, now. The fate of their world depended on it.
Imperfect Cell flew into the air, filled with rage and a newfound sense of urgency. His aura grew to monstrous proportions, the sickly green light casting a pall over the wasteland. "You two... you two leave no choice!"
He then prepares a familiar move, "This move should look familiar to you, Gohan... Your foolish father taught you after all!" He sneers as he charges it up.
"Ka...me...ha...me...- What?!"
Imperfect Cell's smug grin faltered as Gohan and Trunks were charging up their own Kamehameha and Heat Dome Attack together. The two had learned from their past battles and had become a formidable duo, a testament to their growth and unity.
"Cell... You don't belong in this world!" Gohan's voice boomed across the desolate landscape as the two beams of energy grew larger, threatening to overwhelm the imperfect monstrosity.
"The nightmare is over, Cell! Die!" Trunks roared as the two beams of energy were unleashed into the air, the Kamehameha and Heat Dome Attack, merged into one colossal wave of power.
The sky was torn apart by the sheer might of their combined forces, a brilliant display of light that seemed to swallow everything in its path. The ground shuddered as the energy wave hurtled towards Imperfect Cell, who stood firm, his eyes wide with disbelief and fear. His own attack faltered as he realized the futility of his actions.
"You... you can't... I'm the perfect warrior! This isn't right!" He screamed, his voice barely audible over the deafening roar of the incoming attack.
Gohan's eyes narrowed, his voice filled with the power of his father, "This is the end for you, Cell!"
The combined attack of the two Saiyans then hits Cell head-on, the sheer power of the merged beams obliterating any hope of resistance.
"D-Damn... D-Damn... you...! DAMN YOUUU!" Imperfect Cell's desperate cry was cut off as the colossal wave of energy swallowed him whole.
Cell was destroyed, his body disintegrating into nothingness under the overwhelming might of the merged Kamehameha and Heat Dome Attack. The combined attack then disappeared in the air, leaving only the echo of its deafening roar. The wasteland was silent once more, the crimson sky above them a stark reminder of the battle's intensity.
After all of that... The mentor and student/step-father and step-son duo fell onto the floor out of exertion, their auras dimming as they landed hard on the ground. They were exhausted but triumphant, their breathing ragged yet steady. The dust from the battle settled around them, a silent witness to the epic showdown that had just occurred.
"We-We did it," Trunks panted, his chest heaving with exertion as he looked over to Gohan, who was equally drained, "It's over... That's the final loose end..."
Gohan nodded, his eyes closed in relief, "Thanks to our friends... our families..." He whispered, the weight of their victory heavy on his shoulders.
"Yeah..." Trunks agreed before looking towards the sky, "Thanks... everyone..."
A while later, the two left the area and flew back to West City, the sun having fully set by the time they arrived. The city lights twinkled below like a sea of stars, a stark contrast to the destruction they had left behind. Bulma, Chi-Chi, Videl, Erasa, Maron and Chesami had gathered outside the house, their expressions a mix of relief and concern as Gohan and Trunks descended.
"Are you two okay?" Bulma rushed to Gohan's side, her voice trembling with the aftershocks of fear.
Gohan forced a smile, pushing himself to his feet, "We're fine, Bulma."
Chi-Chi embraced Gohan as well, her eyes misty with relief, "You did it, my son."
Erasa walks up to Trunks and rubs his head, playfully messing with his long hair, "You did awesome, Trunks!"
Trunks, though equally drained, managed to stand tall, "Thanks to Gohan... He's the real MVP here," he said with a tired smile.
His girlfriend Chesami walked up to him and gave him a sexy kiss on the lips, "I think we both know that's a lie~" she said with a playful wink.
Videl slapped him on the back, "Good job, Trunks! You and Gohan are the heroes of the hour!"
Maron then gave Trunks a big hug, smothering his head with her massive chest, "Good job, Trunks! You've made your girlfriend's mother proud!" she exclaimed with a laugh.
"MFPH!" Trunks exclaimed, face red as he tried to push Maron away.
"Mom! Don't hug my boyfriend like that!" Chesami said, playfully slapping Maron's arm.
Maron chuckled, "Oh, I'm sorry, Chesami. I got a bit carried away."
"It's alright," Trunks managed to say, his face still buried in her chest.
Bulma's eyes sparkled with a mix of pride and love, "You've come so far," she whispered to Gohan, who nodded solemnly.
"We had to. For everyone's future." He said with a smile.
Once Maron let go of Trunks, Chi-Chi spoke, "So, who's ready for dinner and dessert? I made something special," she said, her eyes gleaming mischievously.
The group exchanged knowing looks, remembering the last time she had said those words. Despite their exhaustion, their stomachs growled in anticipation. They had all earned a victory meal after the intense battle.
"Sounds good, Chi-Chi," Bulma said, patting Gohan's shoulder. "But let's get cleaned up first. I don't think anyone wants to eat with the smell of battle in the air."
The group laughed nervously, breaking the tension. They made their way back into the house, the warmth enveloping them as the door closed behind them. The smells of a home-cooked meal filled their nostrils, making their stomachs growl even louder.
And so... Gohan and Trunks' long, hard-fought struggle with the menacing androids had finally come to an end.
No more would humanity cower before the unrelenting onslaught of mechanical monsters. No more would the Earth tremble at the whim of an artificial bio-creature. Now... The people of Earth could breathe again.
And... As long as the new generation of the Z-Warriors are ready and able to fight, the future would look promising… and the peace would surely last.
