Omarnosian10: Oh boy…
Robin: You watched Phantoms?
Omarnosian10: It didn't get its name from the horror genre, that's for sure.
Superboy: Yeah, it got its name from—
Omarnosian10: Don't spoil in case of newbie readers. Anyway, this story is out of hiatus and will be my main focus until the end of season 1.
Kid Flash: So 10 chapters, then?
Omarnosian10: Almost triple that. And before anyone asks, this chapter is NOT introducing Raven like Muffin's story. ON WITH THE SHOW!
Disclaimer: I do not own Young Justice or Power Rangers. All rights go to Brandon Vietti, Greg Wiesman, and Saban. Before editing, most of this chapter belongs to The Incredible Muffin. I only own Josh, his OC upgrades, and most of his rogues. Ownerships of OC Power Ranger teams are in Profile.
Chapter 6: Serendipity
(Mount Justice Tech Lab)
"Omni-Gear Test 1, active." The Cave's tech lab; a place where Robin or Kid Flash could analyze compounds and unknown chemicals, where Artemis could make more trick arrows… and where Josh and Accel; a blue blocky Zordroid with square glasses, are working on their Gatling Morphers; red hand-cranked Gatling guns with a slot on the back for Ranger Gears… and potentially their newest Omni-Gears courtesy of Ben 10.
"Let's go for XLR8." pumped Accel, taking a Gear from a tray close to some tools. Unlike Ranger Gears, which were primarily gold, these Omni-Gears are all green and share the Omnitrix symbol on the back. Also, with them being tested, only 10 are made, like Ben's first playlist.
"Of course, you'd go for the one close to your name." rolled Josh, reaching for a Gear. "I'll try Heatblast first like Ben did."
"Seriously?! Aren't you worried about the risks?!" gawked Accel.
"We're inside a cave, how can I set up a forest fire?" retorted Josh, loading the Gear.
Hero Time
"Alright." groaned Accel, doing the same. "Don't say I didn't warn you."
Hero Time
"Omni-Gear, Activate!" They crank their Morphers a few times before firing, creating life-sized projections of the Gears in front of them before turning into the aliens they're based on.
Heatblast is a burning hot humanoid alien with plates of heated rock covering his torso, arms, and face. His body is made of incredibly hot plasma energy. His feet have a slight oval-like design with only two toes and one back toe. The Omnitrix symbol is located on his chest.
XLR8 has a velociraptor humanoid body. He has blue skin and black markings around his body and eyes. XLR8 has a tail that is striped in white and black. He has three claw-like fingers and ball-shaped feet. He wears a black, green, and white bodysuit. He has a visor that he can flip down when running to avoid getting bugs and debris in his eyes. The Omnitrix symbol is located on his chest.
At once, both of these projections phased into Josh and Accel's bodies, gear-like halos appearing around them momentarily.
"Let's see if they worked." Josh brought up a fist… which suddenly caught fire; yet did not hurt him. "So far so good."
"My turn." cheered Accel, looking at a bullseye. In a blur, he… slammed into a wall away from the target. "OW!"
"Looks like you need to work on control," noted Josh. Curious, he opened his palm, forming a fireball before throwing it at the bullseye, hitting it dead center. "Unlike me."
"Fire isn't the only thing Heatblast can control. (climbs out of crater) What about body heat?" quirked Accel. Josh answered by grabbing a soda can Kid Flash forgot to throw out, his hand glowing red. Soon, the can began melting into molten metal and dripping onto the floor.
"Good to say that these two are successes." nodded Josh.
"Once we remove the Gears, who do you wanna try next?" asked Accel, speeding to the desk and almost running over it.
"How about…"
(Minutes later)
"Josh, Zatara just arrived; said he wanted our help with—what in the name of Poseidon is going on here?!" gawked Aqualad, leading Artemis, Miss Martian, and Superboy in.
"[Guys?! Is that you?!]" Josh stood up, creeping everyone out with his eyeless face; not as if someone forcefully tore them out, but like he wasn't born with them.
(A/N: Think like Gordon from Agents of SHIELD)
"What happened to you?" gasped Miss Martian, her and Artemis missing the eyes.
"You have our newest prototypes to thank for that!" shouted a squeaky voice. Confused, everyone looked around until… "Aim your oculus uterque downwards!" Once they did…
"Since when are Beast Bots this small?" tilted Superboy, picking up a 6-inch Accel.
"I'm not a Beast Bot; I'm a Zordroid-designated Accel. May one of you remove the Gears from our Morphers; doing so will undo our current dilemmas?" requested Accel, his voice squeaky.
"You mean these?" The girls pick the Gatling Morphers up; one that's Accel's current size. Once they removed the Gears…
"Oh thank goodness! (pats normal-sized body down) I did not need another 'Honey, I Shrunk the Kids' experience." sighed Accel, fortunately on the ground once Superboy let him down.
"What were you doing?" asked Artemis, seeing Josh feel the eyes she likes.
"As Accel said earlier, we were testing some new Gears that can give the wielder or another person certain alien abilities… emphasis on 'testing'." sighed Josh.
"Most of the Gears were successful except a select few give handicaps," added Accel, taking the Morphers back and putting the Gears on a tray.
"Did you say others?" perked Superboy.
"Yeah, with the villains in this universe teaming up more, I figured I could find ways to lend you powers," answered Josh.
"You mean I can do things like fly and run fast?" smiled Artemis. Josh nodded before clearing his throat and looking at Aqualad.
"Apologies, did you say that Zatara needed us for something?" focused Josh.
"He appeared at the Zeta Tubes, asking for assistance from people who had experience with, and I quote, 'working in the dark'," answered Aqualad. Josh tapped his chin in thought.
"Well, we might as well see what this is about; come on, Team, let's meet up with Zatara." Josh led his teammates, plus Zordroid, to the briefing room, where they found not only Zatara but another hero clad in a full black bodysuit. The torso armor looked like a silver vest with a high collar and a blood-red chestplate that mimicked muscles. His shoulder armor resembled folded bat wings that were held to the armor by thin chains. He wore red armored gloves and his wrists sported silver bracelets. His right leg was covered with a silver iron boot that reached his knee and was wrapped tightly with chains as if to hold something back. The left leg was unarmored save for a silver anklet. His head was covered with a black helmet with a visor shaped like a pair of yellow bat wings edged in red. In between the top points of the wings was a red ornament resembling a bat's head. The mouthguard was silver and framed by black fangs.
"It's good to see you again, Josh." smiled Zatara.
"You too, sir." bowed Josh. Throughout his time here, he has entered an 'unofficial' apprenticeship under the magician, learning more about magic and how it differed between his universe and this one.
"So you're the Power Ranger I've been hearing so much about." chimed the other hero.
"When did you get here, Nightwing?" asked Aqualad.
"Moments ago. (sees Josh's discomfort) I guess you know about the wars our factions participated in?" asked Nightwing. Shocked, the Team looks at their leader.
"Yeah… I also know your true identity because of my connection to the Morphin Grid… Wallace Taylor." whispered Josh. Humming, Nightwing nods.
"With introductions out of the way, I was hoping we could get your help on something." focused Zatara.
"Is this a mission?" asked Miss Martian.
"Perhaps, and before any of you ask, Batman is busy with something in Josh's dimension, your speedster is still in school, and I believe Robin has followed his mentor. To put it simply, I desire some backup while I check something out," answered Zatara.
"What about the rest of the League?" asked Artemis, having the sneaking suspicion that they weren't Zatara's first choice of backup.
"Nightwing and I have the most experience related to this 'something' and Black Canary can't come because of her civilian job. Also, I wanted to see this Team in action, and this job is connected to you." explained Zatara.
Before anyone could ask more, Nightwing brought up a holoscreen of Amazo and the 'Keyblade Avatars'; dubbed by Robin. "I assume you all remember this troublesome trio?"
"Did you find Ivo or those Avatars?" hoped Josh.
"Potentially the latter two and a surprise. (clears throat) When I heard of these Avatars and their magic abilities while repairing the gym, I tried sensing their power." started Zatara.
"But they're made of data from a videogame, so their magic is too." frowned Superboy, remembering what the Team 'nerds' concluded.
"True, which is why it took longer than anticipated to find their signatures. Also, I found traces of a different kind of magic on where Amazo 'tripped' and the poles that came out of the supply closet." noted Zatara, surprising the Team.
"Plus, after your tussle with the Shadows, he sensed more traces in Philidelphia…" added Nightwing.
"Where bird poop fell on Cyclops?" jabbed Artemis. Josh narrowed his eyes.
"This sounds an awful lot like…"
"Luck magic, yes." At Zatara's nod, Josh groaned. "You have experience with this?"
"Not personally, but I know people that do," answered Josh, recalling Ben's stories of the Charms of Bezel and his predecessors' tussles with luck experiences. "From what I've been told, it's almost parasitic; for the good stuff to happen to you, bad stuff has to happen around you to balance it out."
"A double-edged sword." winced Aqualad.
"Inexperienced, yes, but this user seems to mainly use bad luck as a weapon, creating the reverse effect. Because of this, and the rarity of this type of magic, it was easier to detect; once I started searching, I found the rough area where our mystery magic user was hiding out. I was hoping you could help us locate him or her." finished Zatara.
"Why should we find this person? What if they just want to be left alone?" defended Superboy.
"We're making offers, not demands. Along with Zatara, I'm curious about who this person is; neither of us wants to recruit them unless they want to join the League… or the Team if he or she is new," answered Nightwing.
"Also, there's another reason we should find this person. (looks concerned) In the rough area, I also found the Avatars' signatures. My best bet is that the two either want revenge on the person who helped destroy Ivo's robot… or forcefully recruit them." added Zatara.
"That's another reason to find this person; if they're in danger, we need to help." nodded Nightwing. Josh looked at his teammates; none of them looked like they were going to back out.
"I think we're all in."
"Can I join? I also want to see this Team in action, and most of our Gears require field tests too." chimed Accel, surprising the veterans.
"Another Beast Bot?" blinked Zatara. Accel glared at Josh for the mix-up.
"He's not a Beast Bot, I'll explain later, and yes, you can join." answered the leader quickly, taking a Gatling Morpher and replacing it with a gray/red/gold flight stick.
"The gold suit? I thought you hated that color," asked Accel.
"What's wrong with gold?" added Nightwing, having a gold armor.
"Don't make me regret this," growled Josh, summoning a computer chip-like device with a silver logo in a blue space.
"Yes sir!" gulped Accel, inserting his personal Ranger Gear.
30th Surge!
"RPM, Get In Gear!"
"Access the Morphin Grid!"
(Boston)
The eight heroes teleported into an alley near downtown Boston. Zatara had narrowed down the search to a group of abandoned warehouses nearby—a perfect place to hide if someone wanted to be alone.
"Everyone ready?" RPM Gold's chest had a silver 'G' with red 'wings' on the sides, and four gold straps on his body resembling the seatbelt of a helicopter or other flight vehicle. Just below his elbows and knees are red/silver bands. His body is primarily black on the insides of his legs, body, and most of his arms. His helmet resembles a falcon/helicopter. On the outsides of his gloves were small wing-like fins.
'Shiny.' Was almost everyone's thought on the suit. Getting a series of nods, the leader looked at Miss Martian.
"Link us up." Everyone felt the same brief sense of vertigo, signaling that the link was up.
"I'm waiting." Correction; almost everyone. Accel, now Drive Warrior, was all bright blue with a large silver chest plate that looked like the grill cover of the motor of a giant vehicle. His arms had tires on his shoulders and wrists, and the armor was strong and bulky. His legs bulked out with large armored boots. His helmet was blue with two silver wings extending from the sides, a large metal face plate covering everything from the optics down. A large silver fin extended from his helmet as the number 30 stamped itself onto his forehead.
"I guess techno-organic lifeforms are invisible in the telepathic spectrum." hummed RPM Gold. Drive Warrior slumped his arms before perking.
"Wait, the new Gears are based on organic lifeforms… except for Upgrade… so maybe…" Drive Warrior replaced his Ranger Gear with an Omni-Gear; specifically Ghostfreak.
Hero Time
"Omni-Gear, Activate!" Ghostfreak is a ghost-like alien. He has pale white skin and black cracks over his body. He has a single green eye. The bottom of a tail can be seen coming out of his skin. He has sharp claws on each of his fingers. The Omnitrix symbol is located on one of his tentacles and can be seen in a crack on his left pec. Once the projection gets absorbed into Drive Warrior, the Blue Ranger clears his throat before…
"Is it successful?"
"Geez, what happened to your voice?!" jumped Artemis, along with most of the Team.
"I can't help it; this is how most Ectonurites sound." shrugged Drive Warrior.
"Focus, people," scolded RPM Gold before turning to Superboy, who was looking ahead. "Do you see or hear anything?"
Superboy nodded. "Sounds like garbled static."
"Then we were right about Aqua and/or Ventus wanting revenge! We have to find the magic user before those Avatars do!" exclaimed Miss Martian.
Zatara's eyes glowed with arcane energy before the sorcerer started moving. "This way! I've locked onto the luck magic!"
They only got a few meters toward the warehouses before a bunch of blurs bombarded them. RPM Gold managed to keep them all safe by cutting down the blurs before they could get close, but not without leaving behind marks made from…
"Since when do Ivo's monkeys have claws?" asked Artemis as she readied an arrow.
"Unless I'm seeing things wrong… those aren't monkeys." shook Drive Warrior. Circling them are sleek, humanoid creatures with black skin. Their arms and legs end in points and have no distinct digits. They have triangular heads with two long, jagged, lightning bolt-shaped antennae. Green eyes are set in an angry expression, and they move in a jerking, twitchy motion.
"They may not be Ivo's MONQIs, but they do have his color scheme," noted RPM Gold, brandishing his space shuttle-like battle dagger; the Cloud Hatchet.
"So your new bird's gold this time," Professor Ivo's voice rang out from hidden speakers, "Also, it seems my associates and I are not the only ones searching for someone in this place. I know that you younger heroes have seen my MONQIs, but I don't believe you've encountered our Cyversed, have you?"
"No acronym this time?" asked Aqualad.
"While I'm not fully responsible for this creation, do not underestimate them; they're created from Unversed Glitch data from the same franchise my associates are from, only enhanced by yours truly." taunted Ivo, catching RPM Gold, Nightwing, and Drive Warrior off-guard.
"Glitch?" repeated Miss Martian.
"Physical manifestations of digital game character data, harboring the original's personality, appearance, powers; basically, if it isn't for the occasional orange pixelating, they would've been mistaking for the real thing," explained RPM Gold, remembering what Logan told him.
"This is a really bad time for our videogame nerds not to be here." frowned Artemis.
"Sadly, the Flood and a surprise are the only Cyversed we've created… oh, and my personal favorite; the Wild Bruisers!" On cue, a crashing noise caught everyone's attention; with a staticky roar, a large Cyversed broke through a brick wall. The Wild Bruiser is a large, muscular, ape-like creature. Its body is predominantly black, but its belly and chest are silver. Its forearms are massive and drag along the ground, its hands are black, and it wears a green/black bracelet on each wrist. Its legs are relatively small and thin and its head is spherical. The Wild Bruiser's face is black, with two black horns jutting out of the sides of its head. It also has what seems to be a green banana peel on its head. Its green eyes are set in a happy expression and the Unversed logo is emblazoned on its belly. A dozen others soon joined it, each one staring at the heroes.
"I hate monkeys." snarled Superboy.
"Gold, I want you and Zatara to go after the magic user. Everyone else is with me; we'll handle Ivo and these Cyversed," ordered Nightwing.
"You sure?" asked Zatara. Nightwing only responded by taking out a sword with his emblem on the hilt; the Regal Blade. Recognizing it, Zatara nodded, leading RPM Gold away, while the rest readied themselves, the girls disappointed.
"For traditional purposes… Vehicle Power!" The Blue Ranger held his hand out, flicking his wrist a bit before moving his leg as he pumped both fists inward. "Drive Warrior!"
Everyone ready, the heroes charged.
(Team B)
"Are you sure this is the place?" asked RPM Gold after he and Zatara entered the warehouse.
"Positive, the luck magic is emanating so strongly, its user has to be here!" nodded Zatara. Before RPM Gold can question him further…
"CAW~!"
"Did you hear—" RPM Gold got cut off by a flock of black/white birds swooping in through a broken window, surrounding him before beginning to carry him out.
"Gold!" Worried for his student, Zatara prepped a spell when…
"Ice Mode!" White mist erupted from within the flock when they neared the window, ice beginning to cover their wings. Stunned, they fled, leaving RPM Gold with a misting Cloud Hatchet… in mid-air.
"Uh-oh." The next thing he knew, he fell onto and broke a crate filled with—
"Eggs… ironic." snorted Zatara. Groaning, RPM Gold stood, wiping off the rotten yolk from his arms.
"Haha." laughed the Gold Ranger dryly. Doubts erased, the two ventured further. If it wasn't for that incident, the duo would've assumed that the elder magician got it wrong. With the interior state, however…
"Hey, Zatara… when you searched for the magic user, how long ago did you find the location?" asked RPM Gold.
"A few hours or so before I called, why?" tilted Zatara. In response, RPM Gold rubbed his fingers against a wall, leaving behind a dark trail. The hint given, Zatara hummed. "So they weren't here for long, either because they knew they were being followed or…"
"We're dealing with a drifter." finished RPM Gold, once again thinking of Logan. Realizing that they might never get another shot, the two quickened their pace, eventually reaching the other side. Before the two could circle, flushing is heard from above.
"Who keeps the water… nevermind." shrugged RPM Gold.
"Go to the upper level, I'll stay here, in case he or she tries to leave through the door," ordered Zatara. Nodding, RPM Gold ran up a rusted stairway, steps giving way moments after he climbed. Reaching what used to be a viewing bay, he found the minor possessions of the magic user; a sleeping bag, a duffel bag (likely filled with the rest), and an MP3. Curious, RPM Gold picked it up; scrolling through the playlist.
"'The Awesome Foursome', 'Don't Say Anything', 'Who Needs Winners Anyway'…" read RPM Gold. He may not be much of a music fan, but with friends, predecessors, and a sister taking the role, he saw no need to. "These were all EPs sung by—"
"Not Called Jinx," finished a feminine voice behind the Ranger. Josh turned to see a girl almost six feet tall. She has pale grey-white skin, pink blush marks on her cheeks, and pink eyes with cat-like pupils. Her hair is pink, horseshoe-shaped, curving outward at the tips, and sectioned off with metallic black bands near the top of her head. She wears a short, black, long-sleeved dress with a jagged trim and a jagged, violet collar that covers her shoulders. She also wears black-and-violet striped leggings underneath her dress, black platform boots with violet soles, and a black choker with a violet charm.
'Charm of Bezel?' RPM Gold was curious about the accessory. Frowning while crossing her arms, the girl held a hand out. Looking between it and the MP3, the Ranger found no harm, returning it. The girl looked down at the device, checking that it was undamaged, then back up at the Ranger.
"Who are you?"
"Generally, Omni-Ranger, but in this suit, I'm RPM… Gold." introduced the Ranger.
"And your friend?" quirked the girl. Having been exposed, Zatara came up and smiled warmly at the girl.
"Hi there. My name is Zatara. Like my… student, I can use magic, just like you." smiled Zatara.
"I don't have magic… just a curse." scowled the girl.
"Curse?"
"I'm a walking disaster magnet, you do the math." frowned the girl.
"Being able to use magic isn't—"
"Excuse me, but may I see that charm around your neck?" RPM Gold cuts off Zatara's retort. "I give you my word I'll be gentle with it."
"…You'd better. (unhooks charm) My mother gave it to me." frowned the girl, tossing it over. Catching it, RPM Gold traced his thumb over it, clicking his tongue.
"Knew it."
"What is it, Gold?" asked Zatara.
"Tell me, are you familiar with the Charms of Bezel?" asked RPM Gold.
"I've never—"
"How'd you know about them?! (eyes glow) They're a family secret!" scowled the girl, her hands starting to shroud in pink energy. If the gold stranger wasn't holding her charm, she would've hexed the ground he stood on.
"Easy… (raises hands peacefully) While I didn't know the family secret part, my source is a little out of your understanding," said RPM Gold.
"My student is from another universe," revealed Zatara bluntly, hoping the fact would be an olive branch.
"Like those Crime Syndicate jerks?" tilted the girl.
"Who?" mirrored RPM Gold. The only Syndicate he knows of is the Evil Syndicate Ben reluctantly teamed up with almost 2 years ago.
"An evil Justice League from a parallel universe; it was a year before I joined, so I don't have all the details," explained Zatara. RPM Gold nodded; it would explain why his multiversal origins were easily accepted by the League. "And for your answer, young lady, while he is from an alternate universe, it's not the same as them."
"While I'm grateful for you defending me Master Zatara, I have to remind you of our present objective." inputted RPM Gold. Nodding, Zatara cleared his throat.
"Thank you. Anyway, I and a fellow Leaguer were curious about who was using luck magic. It's rare." started Zatara. The girl narrowed her eyes, her energy pulsing for a moment… before dissipating, her body relaxing.
"I believe you."
RPM Gold and Zatara looked at each other in surprise.
"That didn't take long," commented the senior.
"I got enough of a handle on my cu—magic to affect people that are hostile towards me." explained the girl. RPM Gold whistled, impressed.
"With that out of the way, would you mind giving us a name, young lady?" asked Zatara.
"…Jinx. Now it's my turn: why are you here? What do you want with me?" asked the girl.
"As I said before, I was curious about who was using luck magic, especially since you used it to help the Team; twice, I might add," answered Zatara.
"From what the others told me, they couldn't have won without your assistance, or at the very least, have a tougher time… why did you help, anyway?" inquired RPM Gold.
"I was just passing through and figured I could lend a hand." shrugged Jinx. "Figured no one would know it was me with my hexes being brushed off as luck."
"That might be a problem. The man who built that robot that you helped defeat? Somehow, he knows of your involvement, and wants to find you and get revenge." explained Zatara.
"Then I'll leave. I can be hard to find when I want to be." dismissed Jinx.
"I think it's a little late for that. Get down!" RPM Gold grabbed Zatara and threw him at Jinx, then stood in front of them, flipping switches #1 and #3. "Energy Mode!"
"What are you—" Jinx's unfinished question was answered when a boulder crashed through the wall… only to shatter when gold energy blasts pelted it.
"You two all right? (both magic users nod; Zatara helping Jinx up) I think running is out of the question," noted RPM Gold. Jinx nodded, and the three ran outside, where they saw complete chaos. Nightwing and Aqualad were cutting down some of the remaining Flood while Artemis shot the legs out from a Wild Bruiser, allowing Superboy to easily knock it down.
In the sky, Miss Martian was telekinetically gathering up a dozen Flood and crunching them into a ball, before hurling it at several others, crushing them. Drive Warrior, still using Ghostfreak's power, flew all around the battlefield, using his Overdrive Axe; a silver pick axe-like weapon with two headlight additions at the top, to hack at some Flood while phasing through some Wild Bruisers.
"What did we miss? By the way, can you patch Jinx here into the link, Milady?" asked RPM Gold. A moment later, Miss Martian gave him a thumbs-up.
"Done!" Was it just him, or did RPM Gold hear a hint of envy in Miss Martian's voice?
"This is weird," commented Jinx, checking her ears. Shrugging, she dashed forward, cartwheeling over many Flood assaults before stopping and slapping her hand onto the ground, sending out a pulse of pink energy. Moments later, snapping is heard before several concrete pipes roll out of a warehouse, flattening the group of Flood before they soon dispersed into data.
"Nice shot, (raises bow) You might want to move," warned Artemis. Jinx did so, and an arrow flew by a second later, skewering the head of a lunging Flood.
"9 of us… (hacks Flood) Gold, I request permission to use Ranger Gear #41!" yelled Drive Warrior.
"Permission granted!" answered RPM Gold, freezing a Wild Bruiser with Ice Mode. Fist-pumping, Drive Warrior replaced Ghostfreak's Gear with a regular Ranger Gear.
41st Surge!
"Nebula Gear, Activate!" Unlike the Omni-Gears; the Ranger Gear turned into a multitude of projections; 9 to be exact. Before anyone could get a good look at them, the Rangers ran into each hero; Red for Nightwing, Orange for Artemis, Blue for Drive Warrior, Gold for RPM Gold, Black for Superboy, Silver for Zatara, Green for Miss Martian, Pink for Jinx, and Yellow for Aqualad. Once the powers were absorbed, rushes of info were input into their minds before new weapons formed in their hands.
"Nebula Sword!" Nightwing brandishes a large blue/black/red sword.
"Nebula Spear!" Artemis spun a blue/red spear with a dark blue pole.
"Nebula Claw!" Howling, Drive Warrior swiped a blue-clawed red weapon.
"Nebula Crossbow!" RPM Gold replaced his Cloud Hatchet with a blue/black/red crossbow.
"Nebula Axe!" Superboy tested his blue/black/red axe.
"Nebula Scythe!" Zatara spun his blue/red sickle like a cane.
"Nebula Saber!" Miss Martian descended, practicing a few stabs with a blue/red rapier.
"Nebula Buster!" Jinx spun her red pistol.
"Nebula Blade!" Aqualad dual-wielded a blue/silver/red blade with his water sword. With their new weapons in hand, the heroes had an easier time getting rid of the Flood and Wild Bruisers. Once they did, the weapons were dismissed.
"With these out of the way, Martian, Gold, Superboy: see if you can find Ivo. If he was close enough for us to hear him…" began Nightwing.
"He might still be nearby," nodded RPM Gold. Before the ordered heroes could do anything…
"He's near," noted Jinx, drawing an odd look from Artemis.
"How do you…" Artemis trailed off when Jinx pointed to the side. A stray cat that stumbled into the area began sniffing around, eventually going behind the warehouse.
"Is that your pet?" asked Superboy.
"No, black cats are attracted to areas with bad luck." shook Jinx.
'More like people if Spider-Man was any example.' "Shouldn't this place be saturated with it, considering your power?" asked RPM Gold. Before Jinx could answer…
"RAW!" The cat ran out and cowered behind Jinx, shaking in fright.
"Is there a dog over there or some…" Before Artemis could finish, the warehouse in front of them exploded.
"Brace yourselves." Aqualad quickly formed a water barrier around the group.
"Ice Mode!" RPM Gold froze it and added a few layers of ice to reinforce it. While the barrier protected them from the blast, the warehouse was nothing but a cluster of debris. Jinx approached the smoldering ruins, downcast.
"All my stuff was in there…" mumbled Jinx. Lost in her sadness, she didn't see the giant wheel heading toward her until it was too late.
"Look out!" RPM Gold grabbed her by the shirt and spun her out of harm's way, but doing so unbalanced him, putting himself in the way of the wheel. It collided with him, sending him careening through several buildings.
"Josh!" Angry, Artemis and Miss Martian glared at what had hit their crush. Coming from behind the abandoned warehouse, a similar-sized Cyversed walked. Its main body comprises a long, green column with its black head placed near the top. The tip of the column has four silver spikes on it, and its left side is lined by a few spikes as well. A long, bent, green arm with black joints connects a large, black wheel to the top of the column. This wheel has five green spokes in it and five silver spikes on its outer edge. A similar, but shorter arm is attached to the main column just below the Wheel Master's head and ends in a large, black, claw-like spool with green wire wrapped around it. A wide, flat, silver protrusion attaches to the main column just above the base and connects to two of the Cyversed's legs. Its third leg is connected to the base of the column on the opposite side of the other two. Its green eyes are set in a sorrowful expression and the Unversed insignia is displayed on the base of the column.
"How did you like my Wheel Master surprise," Everyone looks at the top to see Ivo with a headband of some kind, smirking down on them. "And I must say, it is fun to kill you all with an extension of my own two hands!"
"Not… if I… have anything to say about it…" grunted RPM Gold, returning through the hole. If he didn't have his suit on, he might not have survived.
"J—Gold!" Artemis and Miss Martian rushed to his aid.
"I'm alright, girls. (takes out Engine Cell) But he won't be. One Mach Megazord coming right—"
"Slow your roll, kid. (puts a hand on RPM Gold's shoulder) You've done more than enough today." assured Nightwing, taking out a red whistle-like device; a V-Whistle. He then inserted it into his belt. "Come forth, Castle Transyl!"
"Too late!" laughed Ivo, the Wheel Master aiming its spindle arm and charging an energy orb.
"RAWR!" Before it could fire, it got tackled to the side by something, its master almost falling off. The thing was a huge purple/grey dragon with a castle-shaped body at least three or four stories tall. Its neck and head were connected in the middle of one side of the wide castle with its tail on the opposite end which had a small tower on its tip. Each of the dragon's short legs was at the out corners of the castle with a golden manacle around each of its ankles and a length of chain connecting long enough to allow the great beast to walk on land without restraint. Huge purple bat-like wings protruded out the sides allowing it to stay airborne. The castle has four windows on each side that are as tall as the castle. There was a guard tower at each corner and between the ones in the front, just above the head, was a clock tower.
"What is that thing?!" shouted Ivo, staring at Transyl.
"The end of your rampage! HYAH! (leaps onto Transyl's head) And thanks to some allies from another dimension, this guy picked up a neat trick. Convert to Battle Mode!" shouted Nightwing, raising his Blade to the sky. Transyl gave off another roar before retracting its legs and wings, yet remained hovering in place. Gears shifting is heard before Transyl's castle body begins to split open from behind, the halves spreading to its sides. From behind Transyl's head, a purple-scaled humanoid lower body lowered and settled under the head. Below the castle halves, reptilian arms sprouted out while larger wings did the same behind the halves.

"You think some ancient magic creature is a match for the future of science?!" laughed Ivo, the Wheel Master firing a thread of light from its spool and wrapping around Transyl. With a yank, the Wheel Master pulled Transyl towards it before striking it with its spool.
"This isn't about proving which is better, this is about protecting someone from madmen like you! Castle Dragon Fire!" shouted Nightwing. Transyl roared before breathing flames at its bindings. The threads burned off before Transyl shook them off and grabbed the line. Crouching, it then flew off, pulling the thread and the Wheel Master along with it.
"What are you doing?! Release me at once!" shouted Ivo, hanging onto one of the head spikes. He had to resist the urge to look down.
"What's that? I can't hear you from down there!" called Nightwing. Growling, Ivo tapped his headband. Eyes glowing, the Wheel Master spun its wheel arm like a buzzsaw before cutting the light thread, freeing it and letting it fall. Unfortunately, its master slipped and fell off its head… and into an open manure truck.
"EW!" Almost all the heroes gagged. The Wheel Master landed on its feet. Without its master giving it commands, however, it remained as still as a statue.
"Time to finish this. Castle Transyl, full power!" cried Nightwing. The towers on Transyl ominously glowed before an energy sphere gathered in front of its mouth. In time with its roar, a large beam of energy fired from it and onto the Wheel Master. On impact, it exploded in orange/green pixels.
"Nice!" chuckled Superboy, his friends giving similar compliments. RPM Gold stared at the display, his helmet hiding his awe.
'So this is the power of Kamen Rider Nightwing.'
"Ugh, where did Jinx go?" noted Artemis, snapping her teammates out. Looking around, they find the gray goth nowhere in sight.
"Think she might be checking if her stuff survived?" asked Miss Martian. Humming, Zatara levitated and explored the rubble.
"There's a large gap with no ashes here. Chances are Jinx's luck magic shielded her possessions, which she took, and left." reported the magician.
"Aw, and I wanted another girl on the team," whined Miss Martian.
"Don't worry, Martian. (puts hand on her shoulder) If she's anything like another drifter I know, we'll meet her again." assured RPM Gold. His teammate smiled and blushed before looking at Artemis smugly. The archer grinds her teeth.
"Not to ruin the moment, but who'll get Ivo from that truck?" pointed Superboy, the evil scientist trying to climb out while covered in the truck's contents.
"…Not it!"
(Mount Justice)
After Ivo (before being washed by a toxic hazard team) had been handed to the authorities, Nightwing, Zatara, and the Team went back to the Cave. Batman (having returned from Josh's universe with Robin) had been waiting, took one look at the battered and dirtied condition of everyone present, and demanded an explanation. Zatara took care of that, while everyone else got cleaned up. For a while afterward, the younger heroes relaxed, with Josh telling them about Logan (excluding his name for confidentiality).
"Huh… never took Trent for a mentor," noted Wallace, having dismissed his armor to show his civilian identity; a man of Mexican descent with short black hair and a goatee clad in a white three-piece suit.
"Do you have an apprentice of your own?" asked Josh.
"Not all Leaguers have apprentices and no," remarked Wallace dryly.
"Man, I was gone for one day and I missed out on fighting videogame monsters!" whined Robin, following Batman and Zatara in.
"Did someone say videogame monsters?!" Kid Flash blurred in, gawking at Robin.
"Don't believe us? Zatara could testify." pointed Superboy. Kid Flash resisted the urge to scoff with Miss Martian present.
"Seriously, the one day I go to another universe for the first time and this had to happen?! Why?!" whined Robin, ignoring his mentor's disproving look. Josh only shrugged.
"Just lucky, I guess."
Kid Flash: You have JINX in the story?!
Omarnosian10: Why do you sound surprised? I kinda foreshadowed it in the second chapter.
Superboy: Yeah, Wally. Animated means no comic pairings, and you've been in more cartoons than me.
Robin: So when will you be showing your OC girl?
Omarnosian10: A while before my version of Bereft. Now, to explain some stuff. Jinx's debut clothes and hair are based on her Teen Titans cartoon counterpart. Appearance-wise, she's based on Kaiwii-chan's design from Deviantart. She'll have the clothes in her next appearance.
Kid Flash: *whistles* She's hot.
Robin: You are definitely counterparts.
Omarnosian10: The Cyversed are included to be this season's footsoldiers, henchmen, grunts, etc.
Superboy: So we won't be facing them after the year ends?
Omarnosian10: Storywise, nope. Also, I included the Charms of Bezel with the Luck one being Jinx's source of powers because I dislike how many comic characters lack backstories.
Artemis: Didn't Jinx get her magic from a temple or something?
Omarnosian10: Her comic/Indian counterpart, yes. However, lots of Teen Titan villains lack backstories; Cinderblock, Puppet King, Overload, etc.
Miss Martian: You made your point.
Omarnosian10: That is all the explanation for now. I need to prepare for Denial. Watch out, Robin.
Robin: Hu—Why me?!
Omarnosian10: Hehehehehehehehehehehehe… SMOKEBOMB!
