Welcome back to A Song of Spiders and Dragons. Last time, our three heroes fought their way up Fisk Tower, fighting off goons with rockets, explosions, falling rubble, and even corrupt cops before arriving outside of Kingpin's office with one simple direction from Yuri, take him down. So, when the battle of great foes comes, will the just emerge victorious? Read on to discover...
(The scene opens within Kingpin's office, revealing a great deal of artifacts of ancient Japan. And at a central desk sits Kingpin, jotting something down on a sheet of paper, which is when Spyro, Cynder, and Spider-Man arrive)
Spider-Man: Writing your memoirs? Just don't forget my name has a hyphen in it. Pretty sure you can tell where.
Kingpin: (Pushing a button on his desk phone) Prepare the chopper. I won't be long.
Cynder: It's over, Kingpin.
Spyro: There's no escaping this time.
Kingpin: (Standing up, cracking his knuckles and grabbing something off his desk) To be honest, I'm surprised you made it this far. Even with the help of the Dragon Realms' Ambassadors. But this foolishness ends now.
(Now we see the object Kingpin grabbed was a remote, and clicking it lowers a sheet of glass in front of him.
Spider-Man: If that was your idea of a disappearing act, it kind of sucks.
Kingpin: (Muttering to himself) Eight years of this insolence.
(As Kingpin mutters, the second function of the button becomes clear, revealing turrets in the pillars holding up the room)
Spyro: Now we've got trouble.
(And with that, the turrets open fire. Cynder realizes quickly the turrets will be vulnerable when they reload, and soon her male comrades realize this as well, with Spider-Man webbing up the turrets so the dragons can rip them out of the pillars and throw them at the glass separating them from Kingpin. And after a few turrets thrown, the glass shatters)
Kingpin: How is this happening?!
Cynder: The same way it happened to Rome, Byzantium, and the like. Overconfidence finally catching up to you.
Kingpin: I WILL DESTROY YOU!
(With that, Kingpin runs forward, smashing his desk in the process.)
Spyro, Cynder, and Spider-Man: Take your best shot!
(Now the battle at last begins: our trio of heroes against the Kingpin. Kingpin holds the brute strength advantage over any one of them, being 450 pounds of muscle after all. Thankfully the same strategy that worked with the turrets works with him, web him up and then beat on him. But after a while, Kingpin tires of this and body slams Spider-Man through a wall, punches a steam pipe open trying to crack Spider-Man's head like a walnut, and then throws him through another wall, with Spyro and Cynder flying in afterwards to get him back on his feet as Kingpin steps through the hole)
Kingpin: You are everything that is wrong with this city!
Spyro: Funny, I was thinking the same thing about you.
Spider-Man: Normally I'd be mad you stole my quip, but the cracks on my sternum are settling complaints right now
(Now Fisk's goons start filing into the room)
Kingpin: You have your orders, men.
(Kingpin's reinforcements may prove troublesome, but they're still fighting three genius minds here. The goons are no issue, leaving plenty of time to deal with Kingpin. Eventually though, Kingpin grabs Spider-Man and throws him to the ground, but Spyro and Cynder grab Kingpin's hands before he can crush Spider-Man's head, leaving Spider-Man room to react and kick Kingpin in the head. But before long, Kingpin throws Spyro and Cynder into the ground, shattering the floor beneath all of them. Spyro and Cynder use this opportunity to open up Kingpin for a web attack from Spider-Man, which he uses as soon as Kingpin hits the floor, the force of the web sling impact breaking the floor again, causing them to land on a suspended walkway. Aerial combat works against Spider-Man this time as he lands first, but web swings away before Fisk can hit him, swinging around to regroup with Spyro and Cynder before the trio all fly straight into Kingpin, each getting their blows in as they fall through the air, before a kick from Spider-Man sends Kingpin crashing through the floor to the main lobby, but Spider-Man snags him in his webbing, suspending him upside down in the air as the police are finally able to send another battalion in, the three heroes suspended in midair next to him, with Spider-Man notably being upside-down.)
Cynder: Check and mate, Kingpin.
(And on this scene of the once mighty Kingpin captured at last, our tale ends for today)
And that looks like a good spot to wrap up. At long last, the Kingpin has been checkmated. But is this really the blessing we think it is? If you've played the game, you know that it isn't, since this is essentially the tutorial of the game. So, what comes next now that Kingpin's locked up? Tune in next time to start finding out!
