This is Part II of the My Gift To You Birthday Special. Last time, our quartet of Spyro, Cynder, Spider-Man, and Jefferson Davis started their investigation of the Kingpin's last stronghold. After discovering several secret doors revealing emptied weapons vaults, the group discovered a secret passage in the floor, no doubt left behind by bootleggers who used to run this place. We left just as they descended. So what awaits in the depths? Read on to discover...
(Our story resumes just as we left it, with Spyro, Cynder, Spider-Man, and Jefferson Davis descending into the old bootlegger's tunnel, only just as they turn the corner, they encounter something unforeseen.)
Jefferson Davis: Looks like the place caved in. Huge chunk of concrete in the way.
Spyro: Willing to bet Fisk's men didn't block it off themselves?
Cynder: Doesn't matter who did it, we still need to get through.
Spider-Man: I'll see how it looks from up top.
(With that, Spider-Man takes to the walls and takes his own look at the situation, webbing away the huge chunk of concrete)
Spider-Man: Looks like that left a nice gap underneath this old set of beams. Plenty of maneuverability.
Cynder: Good to know, we're going in.
(With that, the trio slide under the rubble, only to eventually come to a stop)
Spyro: Roadblock ahead.
Spider-Man: On it.
(Spider-Man pulls out the second chunk of concrete. But just as he does, the entire place begins to shake and the lights flicker, but only briefly.)
Spider-Man: I don't like the sound of that.
Jefferson Davis: Probably the subway. But we're going to need to hustle. This place is unstable.
(A few more minutes of crawling along later, the place shakes again, only harder)
Spider-Man: From one New Yorker to another, that was no subway.
Spyro: Sounded like explosives actually.
Cynder: That confirms it, Fisk's goons blasted the tunnel.
(Before long, indistinguishable shouting can be heard)
Spider-Man: And they're not the only ones here. Demons ahead!
Jefferson Davis: We must be nearing the vault! We need to hurry!
(Wasting no time, the group makes their way out of the crawlspaces and into Fisk's hidden vault, only to discover it empty and the Demons gone.)
Spider-Man: Damn it, they're gone! How'd they beat us here? And where'd they go?!
Jefferson Davis: There's got to be a back door then.
Spider-Man: Because of course we took the hard way.
Spyro: Empty cases all over the place. They must've just taken what they didn't abscond with entirely.
Jefferson Davis: One thing's for sure, this was one hell of an armory.
(With no time to waste, the group splits up to search the room for a backdoor, and Spider-Man ultimately finds it. And just as he opens it, he spots the Demons loading crates onto trucks, and he immediately ducks back to tell the others)
Spider-Man: Shh... they're over here...
(With little time to waste, the quartet converges, and soon they spy the threat)
Cynder: Jeff, you might want to stay back.
Jefferson Davis: Hell no. We have no idea what weapons we're up against, it's going to take all of us.
Spyro: If you say so.
Cynder: (Spies something on the shelf, revealing a pack of smoke grenades) These certainly couldn't hurt your odds.
Jefferson Davis: Fine by me. Let's do this. On my mark. (Waits three seconds) Mark!
(Without hesitation, the quartet springs into action. Spider-Man slings to the front and fires web strands to hold the trucks with help from Spyro and Cynder while Jefferson Davis takes charge)
Jefferson Davis: Stop the trucks! You're all under arrest!
(But with that, the back of one of the trucks opens, revealing a sword wielding Demon, who cuts the web strand holding his truck back while yelling something to the others)
Spider-Man: What did he say?
Cynder: If I had to guess, he just said "Kill them".
(As the one truck drives away, the other one unloads a bunch of Demons.)
Spyro: Jeff, take cover. We'll take these guys.
(And with that, the battle begins. But far from staying out of the fight, Jefferson Davis starts throwing smoke grenades to disorient the demons.)
Spider-Man: Thanks for the assist!
Jefferson Davis: Just trying to do my part!
(After a few rounds of punching Demons and throwing smoke grenades, the last of them start to retreat, as Jefferson Davis comes out of hiding, shooting at the truck, but only managing to put a bullet hole in a window as the demons get back on the truck, but not before the officer catches one of them.)
Spider-Man: You okay?
Jefferson Davis: I'm fine. Go after that truck!
Cynder: Roger that, Jeff.
Spyro: We'll come back for you.
(And with that, the trio leave Jefferson Davis behind to go stop the Demons from getting away in their truck, as our tale ends for today)
This concludes Part II of the My Gift To You Birthday Special. For Part III, head on over to The Injustice Wars. So after making it through a collapsing tunnel, half of the Demons got away while the other half fought them off. Now there's one truck on the loose. And this is where we must bit Jefferson Davis farewell, for now. We'll see more about him later on, if you know the game then you know what's coming up. No spoilers for those who haven't. So, will our terrific trio be able to stop that truck? Tune in next time to find out! Same time... same channel!
