Welcome back to A Song of Spiders and Dragons. Last time, Spider-Man, Spyro, and Cynder swung over to Charles Standish's building. After fighting off waves of Demons and scaling multiple elevator shafts, the trio arrives at the penthouse, dropping in just as our story ended. So, what awaits in the penthouse apartment of Charles Standish? Read on to discover...
(The scene opens up with Spider-Man, Spyro, and Cynder dropping into Charles Standish's apartment, which is crawling with Demons, including two forcing Charles Standish to access something on his computer. Eventually they get what they want and leave him locked in the office, at which point, our trio decides it's time to act)
Spider-Man: No time to wait, let's get to it.
(Without hesitation, the trio leaps into battle. The Demons fight back heartily, but nonetheless are bested swiftly by the trio of heroes)
Spyro: That takes care of them.
Cynder: Let's go check on Standish.
(The trio runs over to Standish's little closed off office area, and soon enough realize he's been locked in there. Not wasting a moment, Spyro and Cynder start trying to pry open the door, a Demon with a sword bursts into the room.)
Spider-Man: Just when I thought this couldn't get worse!
(This new foe is swifter than expected, and does manage to get a good slice on Spyro before the trio figures out how to beat him, but ultimately he falls like the Demons who came before him. And so do the reinforcements he calls in, just for good measure.)
Spider-Man: Now, should we try that rescue again?
Spyro: Let's.
(With the enemy bested, Spyro and Cynder pry open the door to Charles Standish's office to find him cowering under his desk.)
Cynder: You're safe now.
Charles Standish: Thank goodness.
Spider-Man: What did they take?
Charles Standish: Just... financial records.
Spyro: Going to guess they're connected to Devil's Breath.
Charles Standish: (Agog and aghast) How do you know about that?!
Cynder: Forget that for a moment. What even is Devil's Breath, and why do they want it?
Charles Standish: That's the thing, I don't know! Mr. Osborn's been funneling money into it for years, but he keeps the whole project secret. I'm the only one with access to the records outside of him!
Spider-Man: Looks like there's a few more people who know now.
Spyro: (Checks the computer screen) They copied some files to a secure server. Looks like payroll records, and one name keeps popping up.
Cynder: Doctor Isaac Delaney. Who is that?
Charles Standish: Don't ask me! I honestly have...
(But before Charles Standish can even finish that sentence, the sounds of a helicopter can be heard, and Spyro's the first to spot it.)
Spyro: Get down!
(Spyro tackles Charles Standish to the ground, prompting Cynder and Spider-Man to duck as the helicopter starts firing in on the room. While the chopper reloads, our terrific trio and Charles Standish rush out of there. Charles Standish rushes to call the elevator for some idiotic reason. Seeing this, Cynder rushes to stop him)
Cynder: Wait, don't! The elevator's...
(But it doesn't work, the door opens revealing there is no elevator anymore, just as an RPG gets fired into the penthouse, causing an explosion that forces everyone down the elevator shaft. While the dragons regain their bearings in flight, Spider-Man is web-slinging down and eventually catches up with and just catches Charles Standish as Spyro and Cynder get back on their wings)
Spider-Man: You okay?
Charles Standish: (With adrenaline still pumping) Yeah.
Spider-Man: You know, as far as elevator shafts go, this place is pretty nice. Believe me, I've seen enough of them to know.
Spyro: You two ready to hit the ground? Or are we content to hang around in a flaming elevator shaft?
Spider-Man: Yeah, let's get out of here.
Cynder: We'll take him down.
(As Cynder grabs hold of Charles Standish and flies him down with the boys in tow, our tale ends for today)
And that looks like a good spot to wrap up for today. Yeah, a little shorter than usual, but still a lot to go through story wise. So the Demons now know to look for someone named Isaac Delaney in order to further their plans for Devil's Breath. But now our trio of heroes knows about him too. So who is Isaac Delaney? And what is his connection to Devil's Breath? Tune in next time to start finding out! Same time... same channel!
