Welcome back to A Song of Spiders and Dragons. Last time, our terrific trio of Spyro, Cynder, and Spider-Man found their way into Oscorp and broke into Norman Osborn's private office. While there, they finally leanred what Devil's Breath is. It started as a potential cure for genetic diseases, but spiraled out of control into an unintentional but hyper deadly bioweapon. And if this ends up in Mister Negative's hands, who knows the destruction it could wreak. This steels the trio's resolve to stop that from happening. So, what happens next? Read on to discover... (Fair warning, today's chapter will be a tiny bit shorter than usual)

(Our scene resumes outside Oscorp headquarters, where Spider-Man, Spyro, and Cynder are making a call to MJ)

MJ: (Quietly) Hey Pete.

Spider-Man: MJ, get this. Devil's Breath wasn't initially a weapon.

Spyro: It was meant to be a treatment for genetic disorders.

Cynder: But in typical Oscorp fashion, they screwed it up. The current form is wildly off the mark. Instead of curing the body, it rips it to shreds!

Spider-Man: All of that said, we need to find Dr. Michaels, fast. I don't think any of us can trust Sable to contain this thing.

MJ: (Quietly) I may have a lead on that. Charles Standish is being held at Sable's Central Park Compound. If anybody's going to know where Michaels is, it's the CFO. Ember, Flame, and I are trying to reach him now.

Spyro: Wait, "reach him"? That place has to be crawling with guards! How are you three...?

(Just as it dawns on Spyro, Cynder has had the same realization)

Cynder: You three are already in there, aren't you?

MJ: (Quietly) Yeah, and we're trying not to get detected. Call you back later.

(And with that, MJ hangs up)

Spider-Man: Sneaking into a Sable compound. That is not going to go well.

Spyro: Not even remotely.

Cynder: Then let's go make sure they don't kill themselves.

(As the trio takes off towards Central Park, Spider-Man notices something)

Spider-Man: Hey, it looks like Doc called.

Spyro: How do we keep missing these messages?

Cynder: No idea. Let's see what he has to say.

(With that, Spider-Man plays the message from Doctor Octavius)

Octavius: Peter, everybody, I just had an epiphany. It's all about the mind. Not to brag but take me for an example: a mind of unlimited potential shackled to a tired old body. Think of what that mind could achieve if freed from these shackles! When developing the neural interface, we need to think beyond replicating the tired puttering of the physical form. We instead need to reach into imagination and possibility. Reach for the raw mind behind the curtain so to speak.

(And with that the message ends just as the trio enters Central Park)

Spider-Man: I've never heard Doc this excited about a project!

Spyro: It sounds like he's getting a little over-eager, if you ask me.

Cynder: True, it really does. Let's just hope the good doctor can keep himself contained.

Spider-Man: We'll figure that out later, the Central Park Compound is just ahead.

(With that, the trio sneaks around and into the facility, unseen as our scene ends for today)

And that looks like a good spot to end for today. Yes, this chapter's going to be a little shorter than the last few have been, but if I'm being honest, this mission is one I was not looking forward to writing, mostly for the timing. Since Spider-Man arrives right at the end of the MJ mission. And that was honestly the part that got me iffy about adapting the MJ missions at all. I had a rough idea when I decided to adapt the first MJ mission back at the auction house, though I was never sure if it would work throughout all the writing to get to this point. But, thankfully, I think I've figured it out and am confident that this will work once we get back into he game. So, how did I pull this awkward piece of timing off? Tune in next time to find out! Same time... same channel!
