Welcome back to A Song of Spiders and Dragons! Last time, MJ, Ember, and Flame snuck into Sable's Central Park Compound and even though the intervention of Spider-Man, Spyro, and Cynder caused things to go awry, all six of them did manage to get some information out of Charles Standish, revealing Dr. Morgan Michaels is hidden somewhere in The Bowery, and that Grand Central Terminal is somehow involved in Mister Negative's plans. So, what will our heroes do with this new information? Read on to discover...
(The scene opens up with the entire party of six dropping off at MJ's apartment.)
Spyro: Got to say, that had to be the most awkward swing back here we've had yet.
Spider-Man: Good to see I wasn't the only one thinking that.
MJ: Yeah. But before anything else, did you really say "Sorry Charlie"? What kind of low hanging quip was that? You almost ruin our background research and a bad joke is all you've got?
Cynder: It was a tension breaker, okay? We knew we screwed up. I'm sure Parker here was thinking the same thing!
Spider-Man: I won't lie, I actually was. I was really glad Cynder said it first.
Flame: And to top all this off, why were you three even there? We had this covered!
Spyro: Are we really having this conversation right now?
Cynder: The three of you broke into a heavily armed military facility! That was probably the dumbest risk you could have taken!
Ember: This is exactly why we stopped being friends. Flame and I may not have destiny-based superpowers, but we're not made of glass!
MJ: Now that's a sentiment I can relate to. (Eyes Spider-Man)
(Spider-Man doesn't even need to say anything, he knows exactly that's why he and MJ broke up.)
Spider-Man: Look, before tonight gets too heated between you four, we did manage to get some information out of Standish. Dr. Michaels is in the Bowery and he's being moved tomorrow at noon. So we've got about 12 hours to find him.
Spyro: And there's something about Grand Central Terminal.
Ember: I'm sure it's nothing. Probably a potential target
Cynder: He distinctly said Grand Central, and I think he said they needed to get something there.
Flame: (Lying) I didn't hear anything about that, did you Ember?
Ember: (Joining in the lie) No, not that I heard.
(At this point, MJ is looking surprised. She definitely heard something about picking something up at Grand Central, but then she realizes why they're lying, to give her and the two of them an edge in this investigation after Spider-Man and co bungled this one)
MJ: Look, before tonight gets any further, we've got to go. Filing deadline in 6 hours and all that. (To Spider-Man) Talk to you later, Peter.
(And with that, MJ ushers Ember and Flame into her apartment, leaving the other three to reflect on all this on the roof)
Spider-Man: Peter. That's how you know she's still mad. Nice going Mr. Superhero.
Spyro: Trust me, Spidey. We're all in the same boat right now.
Cynder: I just wish Ember and Flame understood we were trying to protect them.
Spider-Man: Guys, this is something I learned the hard way with MJ. You're doing it too much. I'm just as guilty as you are. (Sighs) Let's just take a patrol break to clear our heads.
(With that, Spider-Man slings off just as Spyro's phone rings, independently of the shared line.)
Spyro: Hey, it's Rio. (Answers the phone) What's up, Rio? You're on speaker.
Rio Morales: Hey you two, I just wanted to thank you for getting Miles that job at the F.E.A.S.T. center.
Cynder: We can't take all the credit for that one, Rio. That was Peter's idea mostly.
Rio Morales: Well please forward my thanks to him. (Sighs) I will admit, Miles still has reservations about this. So gave him a choice: This or more therapy. He needs this, he just hates to feel pitied or like a victim.
Cynder: Trust me, Rio. We both understand that feeling.
Spyro: Agreed. We'll get word out to Peter and May and make sure all four of us are there for his first day.
Rio Morales: Thank you again, all of you. This means a lot to the both of us. (Hangs up)
Cynder: At least there's a good ending to today. (Checks the time via the stars) We'll need to head to Doc's office in a few hours. Better catch Peter up on what's going on.
Spyro: Agreed.
(And with that, the duo takes flight from MJ's apartment building rooftop, ending our scene for today)
And that looks like a good place to end for today. So, looks like our team of six has hit a rough patch, and Flame and Ember are starting to rebel against the partnership a bit, with MJ maybe trying to help them. This might not bode well as things go on. But anyways, there's other things to focus on, like finding where Dr. Morgan Michaels is being held in the next 12 hours. But before that, a stop at Octavius Industries for a long overdue face to face with Otto Octavius. So how's that going to go? Tune in next time to find out! Same time... same channel!
