Welcome back to A Song of Spiders and Dragons! Last time, Spider-Man, Spyro, and Cynder arrived in The Bowery just as Dr. Morgan Michaels was about to be moved. But just as the doctor was put into a car, the Demons attacked in the APC that Tombstone was working on, with Mister Negative himself at the helm. They managed to barrel past the Sable Guards and grabbed Dr. Michaels just as Spyro and Cynder were getting involved. Now the chase is on to rescue not only Dr. Michaels, but stop Mister Negative from getting his hands on Devil's Breath. So, will our terrific trio succeed? Read on to discover...
(We pick up the story already in action as Spider-Man runs across the rooftops of New York City, following the Demons' APC, with Spyro and Cynder flying right after him. As the contact gets going, Spider-Man puts a call in to Yuri to let her know what's going on right now)
Spider-Man: Yuri, we're in pursuit of Martin Li. He's got Dr. Michaels and the Devil's Breath.
Yuri: So much for staying out of it.
Spyro: Now's really not the time for this, Captain!
Yuri: Got it. More units are on the way.
Spider-Man: Good news though, he took Dr. Michaels alive.
Cynder: Probably to force him to manufacture Devil's Breath en masse.
Spider-Man: We've got to stop that... whatever it is!
(Soon as he says that, Spider-Man hangs up the call and after a few minutes of swinging across the city, the trio lands on the back of the APC and start taking out Demon foot soldiers just as Silver Sable comes over the radio frequency from a nearby helicopter)
Silver Sable: Attention hostiles, this is Sable International. We have authorization for deadly force. There will be no further warnings.
Cynder: Silver, hold up! There's a biological weapon onboard! We're working to secure it!
Silver Sable: All units open fire!
(And soon enough a barrage of rockets comes at the truck, though apparently Sable International went cheap on rockets, since nothing even dents the APC)
Spider-Man: Okay, seriously. WHERE IS EVERYBODY GETTING ROCKETS FROM THESE DAYS?!
Spyro: No idea!
(Just as a bunch of Sable agents start pursuing the car, the Demons run interference and take them out before starting to shoot at our heroes up front on the APC)
Spider-Man: We need to take out those guys in the trucks! Then, we go after Li!
Spyro: Leave that to us, you get after Li.
(With that, Spyro and Cynder take flight from the back of the APC and head straight at the Demons pursuing them. It doesn't take very long, but soon enough Spyro and Cynder have taken out the two trucks and fly back up to the APC to rejoin Spider-Man who is taking out the Demons left and right as Sable keeps firing)
Spider-Man: Cynder, tell your friend to stop shooting at us!
Cynder: (Hopping back on the Sable frequency) Silver, cease fire! There is a potential plague onboard that vehicle, if that container ruptures, it could mean the end of the world!
Silver Sable: We are both trying to secure it, last I checked!
Cynder: Come on, Silver, just tone it down with the rockets at least!
Silver Sable: That... we can probably do. (Into her comm system) All units, cease heavy fire, focus on the vehicle's windows and take out the driver.
Cynder: Thanks, Silver. I owe you one. (Hops off the frequency) Let's get Li.
(As the trio makes their way to the front, the APC almost runs over one of those crazy soapbox street preachers, and after barely dodging a construction site, they land on the front of the APC and confront Mister Negative)
Spyro: This ends here, Martin!
(But Mister Negative clearly does not mean for this to be the end, as he pulls out a gun and starts shooting through the windshield, shattering it. Thankfully, our trio of heroes dodge the shots before trying to go at him from the side door, only for Mister Negative to kick the door off. Our trio of heroes manages to ride it to safety under the vehicle, accidentally taking out the brakes then end up right behind it again just as Yuri calls)
Yuri: Spider-Man, what's your status? Have you apprehended Li?
Spider-Man: Still working on it!
Spyro: Is it just me, or is this guy's driving getting more and more erratic?
Cynder: No wonder, that little door kick ended with us taking out the brakes! They can't stop!
(With some thorough web-work, the trio ends up back at Martin Li's side of the vehicle)
Spyro: (Attempting to grab the Devil's Breath briefcase) We'll be taking that!
(But just as each member of the trio attempts to grab the briefcase, Mister Negative channels his strange power through them, causing immense pain)
Cynder: Not again!
Spyro: (To Mister Negative) What are you doing?!
Mister Negative: Giving you three a new perspective!
(And just as the flash from Mister Negative's powers consumes the screen, our tale ends for today)
And that looks like a good spot to wrap up for now. A bit of a cliffhanger, but I think that works well. Next time, Mister Negative's powers will be unveiled from the inside.
