Welcome back A Song of Spiders and Dragons. Last time, Spyro, Cynder, and Spider-Man started to chase Mister Negative's APC through the streets of NYC, trying to recover Dr. Morgan Michaels and the Devil's Breath. But just as it looked like they were about to, Mister Negative grabbed a hold of them and started using his powers to, and I'm quoting here, "give them a new perspective". What exactly is that supposed to mean? Read on to discover...

(Our story picks up within our trio's minds, where each is confronted with a different scene. Spider-Man is back at the terrorist attack on City Hall, Spyro stands outside of the Swamp Temple, and Cynder is at her old lair in Concurrent Skies, and none of them are aware of what the others are going through. )

Spider-Man: What the hell?

Spyro: How did he...?

Cynder: Not this place again...

(Suddenly, Mister Negative appears before each of the three heroes, independently)

Mister Negative: I must be honest, I was hoping to bring you here. My abilities lend me a certain, persuasiveness...

(Not seeing many other options, each of the trio progresses carefully through this illusion)

Mister Negative: I've been watching you, all of you. I was waiting for you to spring into action at City Hall, yet you never did. I know for a fact two of you were there.

Spider-Man: Is this real...?

Spyro: This better not be real...

Cynder: Any image you can dream up, I've been through worse.

Mister Negative: It's a shame so many had to die with no hero to save them. That officer saved all of your lives, didn't he? He was at City Hall that day because of you three. Norman wanted to use him you know, a futile gesture. (To Spyro specifically) Ignitus could have saved all of them, but he instead chose to save only you. Have you ever wondered why? (To Cynder) Or have you wondered why he hid out all those years rather than face you? (To all three) Norman, Ignitus, all of them just slunk away like cowards. They knew what was going to happen, and they fled, they hid.

Spyro: You don't get to talk about Ignitus like that, Li!

Mister Negative: Despite what you may believe, I still hold respect for Ignitus, but not for Norman Osborn. He's a cancer on this world that must be excised, so no trace of his corruption remains! But even I know I can't do it alone. The four of us together, though? We'd be invincible!

(With that, Mister Negative summons a Demon mask in front of each of the trio.)

Mister Negative: I can give you the power to stop this madness. Break apart the mask of lies people like Norman hide behind and drag them into the light! Put on the mask, become one of us!

(Despite none of the trio knowing what the rest are going through, each of them comes to the same conclusion. There's no way in hell they're joining Mister Negative)

Spider-Man: Thanks but no thanks!

Spyro: Like hell I'd ever join you!

Cynder: I've been evil's puppet before. Never again!

(Each takes the mask and throws it straight at Mister Negative, and clearly this pisses him off)

Mister Negative: One way or another, you will ALL join me!

(Now the battle commences, with Mister Negative summoning shadows to fight his battle)

Mister Negative: All the souls you've lost! All the innocent victims you couldn't save!

Spyro: Don't try to guilt trip me!

Cynder: Their blood is on YOUR hands, Martin!

Mister Negative: You all have the strength to take down Osborn, I can give you the will!

(Now Mister Negative himself enters the fray, wielding a sword. But each individually takes him down)

Mister Negative: (As he starts levitating over each scene) The shadows are sworn to me, and I will give them strength!

(Behind Mister Negative forms a giant Demon mask, which each of our terrific trio realizes individually must be the source of his power)

Spider-Man: The mask, got to destroy the mask!

(Throwing a few of Mister Negative's attacks back at him starts to break the individual masks)

Spider-Man: I refuse to leave you in the darkness, Martin! You can still come back to the light!

Mister Negative: I will break each of you and leave you brain dead!

(At this point, even Spider-Man is losing hope in pulling Martin Li back out of Mister Negative, but ultimately, the battle ends as each of the individual masks is destroyed, breaking the illusion in a flash of light as our tale ends for today)

And that looks like a good spot to wrap up for now. Admittedly, this was a weird scene to write, mostly because I was conflicted between putting all three of the good guys at City Hall, or to try and split the scene in threes. Ultimately I went with the latter, hence the random comments about Ignitus alongside Jefferson Davis. So if this one seems confusing, blame that. Anyways, next time, back to reality. Will all end well? Tune in next time to find out! Same time... same channel!
