Welcome back to A Song of Spiders and Dragons. Last time, the confrontation at Grand Central Terminal began. Spider-Man, Spyro, and Cynder started taking out Demons left and right after talking MJ, Ember, and Flame through defusing the microbe dispersal device. Once that was done, the latter trio handled getting the hostages out while the costumes went to work. The Demons fell quickly, but Mister Negative escaped into a subway train. Thankfully, the trio were right on his tail. Today, the battle awaits. How's that going to go? Read on to discover...
(Our scene picks up exactly where we left it, onboard a subway car, where Spider-Man, Spyro, and Cynder are staring down Mister Negative.)
Mister Negative: Finally.
Spider-Man: Sorry we're late. It's kind of our thing.
(And now, the battle is on. Mister Negative fires blasts of energy down the length of the car, but after a few minutes tires, giving our heroes enough time to start beating him back. This process continues for a while, and the car gets more and more wrecked until eventually, Mister Negative grabs Spyro by the neck)
Spyro: Martin, you're sick! Let us help you!
(But Mister Negative isn't listening, instead he just keeps beating on everyone before taking the fight into literally another train, this one full of people. Thankfully, the civilians manage to evacuate just as the energy waves start again. But after a while, Mister Negative just starts physically beating them down again)
Spider-Man: We don't want to hurt you, Martin!
Mister Negative: Nothing can hurt me! Not anymore!
(At this point, Mister Negative is about to punch through Spider-Man's head when Cynder grabs his wrist, hits him in the face, and tail thwacks him to the front of the train, hitting a circuitry panel, that unknown to them at the moment, stops the train's brakes from working. Spider-Man rushes to check if their opponent is okay, while Spyro and Cynder start to talk for a moment)
Cynder: That hurt me more than it hurt you, Martin.
Spyro: I didn't think you still cared.
Cynder: Of course I still want to help our friend, Martin Li. But that? I still can't see Mister Negative here as him.
Spider-Man: Uh, guys, we've got a bigger problem. That attack took out the brakes and floored the accelerator!
Spyro: Well don't just stand there! We've got to do something!
Spider-Man: Right.
(Harkening back to a previous adventure, Spider-Man rips off the front door of the train and starts swinging webs into the walls before stretching his arms out, attempting to stop the train with just the tension on the web lines, only for them to snap instantly)
Spider-Man: That totally worked last time!
(And now the situation grows worse, as the runaway subway is about to hit another train)
Cynder: I've got an idea. (Dials Yuri) Yuri, please tell me their still doing construction on 42nd and 1st.
Yuri: (Over the phone) Street's closed for another month. Why?
Spider-Man: (Getting the idea and jumping in on the call) Let's just say it's about to get a lot worse.
(Seeing what Cynder's plan is, Spider-Man leaps out of the train and onto the roof of the platform with Spyro and Cynder right behind him, then uses his webbing to pull the very subway tracks out of the ground, sending the train up to the surface right at the intersection of 42nd and 1st. As the train hits the surface, Mister Negative starts to crawl out of the wreckage, only for Spyro, Cynder and Spider-Man to meet him there)
Cynder: It's over, Mister Negative.
Spider-Man: Next stop, prison.
(In this moment, Mister Negative realizes he's beaten and just collapses in exhaustion as our scene ends for today)
And that looks like a good place to end for today. A nice more action centric chapter to wrap up the confrontation with Mister Negative. So it may be a little shorter than usual, but I think after splitting the action in Grand Central Terminal into a few parts that keeping this one shorter was warranted. Anyways, next time, the wrap up to Mister Negative as a threat. Or Is It? Anyone who's played the game knows exactly what I'm getting at here, but no spoilers for anyone else. Even I won't say much about what's to come beyond what I may have said previously. You'll just have to tune in next time to find out what I mean. Same time... same channel!
