Welcome back to A Song of Spiders and Dragons. Last time, Cynder headed to the Upper East Side of Midtown to liberate the local police precinct from a siege by Electro. After destroying the transformers turning the building into one giant electric fence, and taking out the Demons guarding the place, Cynder took off to rejoin Spider-Man in Harlem. Meanwhile, what's Spyro up to on the Upper West Side? Read on to discover...
(Our scene opens up slightly after Cynder arrives at the Upper East Side Precinct, only focusing on Spyro on the Upper West Side, and he gets another call)
Spyro: (Checks the phone) Miles? (Answers the phone, only to discover Cynder's on the line too) Miles? What's going on?
Cynder: (Via the phone call) I had the same question.
Miles Morales: Hey, May told me to call you guys, she's already sent word to Pete but things are not going well in Harlem. Convicts have almost broken down the front doors and we've had to start evacuating people through the basement. Mary Jane, Ember, and Flame are here, but I'm not sure how much longer we can hold out!
Cynder: (Via the phone call) I'm already on my way. And I know Peter is too.
Spyro: I'll be joining you shortly. Hold the line as best you can until we get there!
Miles Morales: Will do!
(And just like that, the phone call disconnects)
Spyro: Stay strong, Miles.
(At this point the situation here becomes clear, Rhino is tearing through police barricades, allowing Ryker's prisoners to get past and open fire on officers)
Spyro: Typical Alexei, brute force everything. Little finesse. (Dials Yuri) Yuri, Rhino's torn through your barricades and former guests of Ryker's are sieging the place. No worries, I'll even the odds.
Yuri: Please, do it. If those barricades fall, the people inside that precinct are done for.
Spyro: Don't worry. I will never allow an innocent to come to harm
(Wasting no time, Spyro hangs up the call and jumps straight into the brawl. After a few moments of dealing with the ground troops despite a hail of bullets from above, Spyro heads up to the rooftops to confront the snipers laying cover fire, and within a few moments, he's got them pretty much down, as the cocky dragon we knew from the original series starts to emerge for a moment in his victory.)
Spyro: That should wrap things up here.
(And of course, just as Spyro says that, Sable troops on freaking jetpacks enter the scene)
Sable Agent: Hold it right there, dragon!
Spyro: Are you kidding me?! THEY CAN FLY NOW TOO?!
(With that, the Sable troops start firing on Spyro. And just to add insult to injury, more prisoners swarm the rooftops. But Spyro's a seasoned combatant, whether he wants to be or not, and soon enough the flying Sable troops are defeated, along with the inmates that swarmed him)
Spyro: That takes care of the flying police. Now to clean up the rest of the inmates.
(Spyro swoops down from the rooftop and starts cleaning house, and soon enough the last of the inmates are taken down as Spyro calls Yuri back)
Spyro: Upper West Side is secure, Yuri. And now I know what it's like to be a priority target for Sable. Definitely not something I recommend.
Yuri: And that's why you don't piss off international mercenaries.
Spyro: Noted. Look I've got to sign off for a moment, call us if anything goes south.
Yuri: Can do. And thanks, to both of you. You've given us a fighting chance. (Hangs up)
Spyro: Here's hoping we can make Harlem in time!
(With no hesitation to his wings, Spyro flies off towards Harlem, and soon we spot Cynder and the web-slinging Spider-Man on the distant horizon, as our tale ends for today)
And that looks like a good spot to wrap up for now. Admittedly, finishing off Rhino on the Upper West Side is far from tricky to depict, though the Sable troops with jetpacks are certainly a strange addition. But enough of that, everybody's heading straight for Harlem. And good timing too, because things are falling apart over there. But will our trio of heroes make it there in time? Or are all of their allies completely doomed? Tune in next time to find out! Same time... same channel!
