Welcome back to A Song of Spiders and Dragons. Last time, we got a glimpse into how Spider-Man is taking all of this while Cynder looks around for synthetic atropine. And needless to say, in typical Parker fashion, he's not taking the whole Doctor Octopus thing well. Thankfully Cynder found the necessary component and took off with everybody towards Octavius Industries so they could mix up the antidote. But along the way, Cynder discovered a dreadful situation. The enhanced resistance provided by the Poison Element is starting to get overtaxed and she's starting to feel the effects too. Will they make it to the lab in time? Read on to discover...
(Our scene opens back up in the NYC skyline, where Cynder continues to fly the poisoned Spyro and Spider-Man towards Octavius Industries while fighting off the poison herself. Thankfully, she makes it to the rooftop entrance and makes her way in.)
Cynder: Finally, we made it.
Spider-Man: And good timing, because we're running out of time...
Spyro: Some of us faster than others...
Cynder: Just give me the components and I can hopefully mix this up.
Spider-Man: Spider genes are doing me some favors. I can help.
Cynder: Good to know, Pete. Because I flunked chemistry. Twice.
(As Cynder lays Spyro down on a bench, she and Spider-Man are about to set to work, when Cynder is gripped by the effects of the poison and straight up collapses as Spider-Man manages to stumble towards a work station. But as Spider-Man sets to work, we focus into Cynder's mind, where she's confronted not by Octavius, but by Doctor Octopus)
Doctor Octopus: I think not, Cynder! You're just like Osborn, trying to steal my genius! You saw through him as early as I did, yet you did nothing to stop this! Everything that happens at this point is on your head! I could hear you all you know, laughing at me behind me back! You'll beg me for salvation by the time I'm done with you!
(But Cynder, she's having none of this and straight up tackles Doctor Octopus into an imaginary wall)
Cynder: Mind games aren't the way to get at me. Everything you can think of, I've given myself worse.
(At this point, Doctor Octopus morphs into Scorpion and throws Cynder off of him)
Scorpion: Good to know, I'll just be direct then!
(With that, the battle rages, Cynder vs Scorpion for the fate of her own mind.)
Scorpion: Just so you know, if I kill you here, you're brain dead in the best case scenario.
Cynder: Quit beating your gong and fight, Gargan!
(Cynder takes out the illusory version of Scorpion, only for it to split into two upon it's defeat. And every time she bests one, it does the same thing. Soon Cynder's surrounded by about 16 Scorpions)
Cynder: Thankfully you've all got a glass jaw.
(Cynder continues to fight off the illusory Scorpions, careful not to actually destroy them in case they replicate again. But just as she appears to be winning, a beeping can be heard as we transition back to the real lab where Spider-Man has finished mixing up the antidote)
Spider-Man: I think I've got it! (Picks up the three samples) Only one way to find out.
(Wasting no time, Spider-Man injects himself with one sample of the antidote, and finding he's slowly starting to feel better, gives Cynder another dose, and gives the third one to Spyro, who unfortunately seems to be hallucinating the most, as he's seeing Spider-Man in just mask and boxer shorts)
Spyro: (Completely confused) You know what? I don't even want to know.
(And with that, Spyro falls unconscious for a few moments, joined by Cynder and Spider-Man as the antidote takes effect. But in a few minutes, everybody's back to a groggy state of consciousness.)
Spider-Man: Everybody okay?
Spyro: My head's pounding like I just downed three kegs. But at least I'm not hallucinating you in your underwear anymore.
Spider-Man: (Rubbing his head awkwardly) That... was not a hallucination. My poison addled brain apparently took decontamination a little too far.
Cynder: I propose we never discuss that again.
Spyro and Spider-Man: Agreed.
Cynder: (Noting something is off) Wait, what happened to my vest?
Spyro: (Noticing his is gone too) Yeah, mine's gone too!
Spider-Man: Yeah, neither of them survived Scorpion's sting. If you want, I can get them fixed pretty easily.
Spyro: Maybe another time.
Cynder: We'll just rock the classic look until Otto is beaten.
Spider-Man: Then let's get back to it.
(And as the trio head back outside, our tale ends for today)
And that looks like a good place to end for now. Yeah, I kind of decided to get rid of the vests from the start of the story because I never actually used them. But, I'll go ahead and spoil this, they will return before this story is done. And if you've played the game or seen the cutscenes, I think you'll know when they come back. But anyways, the saga of Scorpion's poison is over with and everybody is back and ready for action. So, what awaits next? Tune in next time to find out. Same time... same channel!
