Welcome back to A Song of Spiders and Dragons. Last time, the trio of Spider-Man, Spyro, and Cynder finally made it to Octavius Industries to mix up the antidote to Scorpion's poison. Spider-Man's spider genes finally did him a favor allowing him to mix up the antidote while Cynder started hallucinating Doctor Octopus berating her. Thankfully, Cynder put herself through far worse over the years, leading to a hallucination of Scorpion just preparing to kill her. Thankfully, Spider-Man mixed up the antidote and cured everyone. Now with the poison out of their system, the trio's got to get back to work. So, what awaits? Read on to discover...
(Our scene picks up outside of Octavius Industries, where Spyro, Cynder, and Spider-Man are gathered to continue with their quest.)
Spider-Man: How are you guys doing?
Spyro: Head's still a little groggy.
Cynder: There's probably still some poison in our systems. Maybe going on patrol will give us some time to let it process.
Spider-Man: Not a bad idea actually.
(With that, the trio takes off for a patrol, and after stopping a few robberies, the trio takes a seat on the edge of a building, where Spider-Man seems to be chagrin about something.)
Cynder: Penny for your thoughts, Pete?
Spider-Man: Just pondering a murky ethical question.
Spyro: I think we all are.
(At this point, MJ, Ember, and Flame randomly call each of them.)
Cynder: And it sounds like we've got people to discuss it with.
(With that, the trio each splits up and takes their calls)
Ember: Hey, Spyro. What's going on?
Spyro: Good thing you called Ember, I can always count on you to give a straight answer.
Flame: Cynder? Are you feeling okay?
Cynder: Just running over a question. Maybe you'll be able to help me work through it.
MJ: It's a rare day when you can't answer a question, Pete.
Spider-Man: I never was good in philosophy.
MJ: So what's the question.
Spyro, Cynder, and Spider-Man: (On their respective calls) When is it okay to give up on a friend?
MJ: You weren't kidding, Pete. That is a tough one.
Ember: This is about Doctor Octavius isn't it?
Spyro: Pretty much.
Cynder: I mean, can you blame us? If we'd just been a little more forceful about funding the office through the Embassy, we could have stopped this.
Flame: Cynder don't go hating yourself for this again. You just worked through your past completely in the last eight years. But I won't disagree, this is tough.
Ember: The optimistic part of me wants to say never, and that being a true friend means being there even when someone's lost their way.
Flame: But... with what Otto's done, I'm not so sure anymore.
MJ: I guess what you've really got to ask is if the Otto Octavius you all knew is still in there, if he was ever there at all.
Cynder: Yeah...
Spyro: I guess that makes sense.
Spider-Man: Thanks for talking through this, MJ.
MJ: Any time, Pete.
Ember: Call me any time you need to, Spy.
Flame: I mean that, I'm here for you.
(With that the trio hangs up their calls, and each realizes they had the exact same conversation with their respective subjects.)
Spider-Man: I guess we were all working through the same thing.
Spyro: I don't know about you guys, but I still don't feel much better.
Cynder: Why don't we get off the streets for a little to think. Let's check in at F.E.A.S.T. That always clears my mind.
Spyro: Mine too.
Spider-Man: Then it's agreed. Let's go. It's been a while since we checked in on Aunt May.
(And with that, as the trio swings off towards F.E.A.S.T. to see how things are going there, as our tale ends for today)
And that looks like a good spot to end for today. A little shorter, yeah, primarily based in the trio philosophizing about whether Doctor Octavius is still saveable, or whether Doctor Octopus is all there really was. And you know? I genuinely want to hear what you all think about this situation. Let me know what you think here, but don't use information from the sequel material if you know it. Using just the data we have from this game, would Spider-Man be morally right in giving up on Doctor Octavius? Or does he have a moral obligation to try to pull him back out of Doctor Octopus? Anyways, next time, we're back at F.E.A.S.T. So how're things going there? Tune in next time to find out! Same time... same channel!
