Chapter 29. Ina's adventure.
Golden chains bonded the beast as it cried and struggle. They showed no mercy to the one that had killed its masters and aimed to kill its warden. The redhaired warriors performed various hand seals before placing their palms flat on the ground. A glowing Fuinjutsu ran across the ground toward the beast forming a spiral around it.
The beast cried out in pain, but it was already too late. The ground beneath its feet glowed a brilliant white and swallowed it whole. It screamed, what was no doubt a curse as it disappeared. Silence engulfed the lab room in the absence of the beast's screams.
"Quite noisy, wasn't he?" Gisei said, standing up. Her red hair barely touched her shoulder, framing her pale face. Her fierce grey eyes looked around the destroyed lab and dead scientists scattered about before stoping on the girl they came for.
Honoka was older than Gisei's daughter, Karin, but after hearing how she was suffering, she joined the assault team. Like Gisei, Honoka used her abilities inherited from her clan to survive. If Ina did not arrive when she did, they would both be dead right now.
Gisei would like to think she was a good mother. She traveled to the hidden grass village and offered herself up to ensure her daughter's future. Enduring the pain of being bitten by people desperately clinging to life every day to ensure her daughter could eat.
When things got hard, she would remind herself why she was doing this. All she did was for her daughter. She was an outsider with no homeland to return to; she needed to survive. For a while, all was well; until war broke out. There were now more people to heal, and even with her abnormal vitality, she was almost at her limit.
"Mommy?" Her angel and reason for being arrived with a worried face, and Gisei could help but smile. She pulled Karin into her arms despite her fatigue and rocked her to sleep. Her daughter needed her so she would survive this.
Karing cried as she went to work the next day, begging her to stay. Karin's crying was nothing new but something about it made Gisei uneasy. She arrived at the hospital to find a red-haired woman standing in the emergency ward. At first, Gisei thought that she was another Uzumaki seeking refuge in the village; until she noticed the "patients" were all dead. The emergency ward was always full of half-dead shinobi, so it took her a second to realize that wasn't the case.
She screamed and fell back without support from her escort, Zosui. She looked up to see the man had frozen in place.
"I think it's time you left this place before it takes your life." The woman said as she walked towards them.
"Hold it!" Zosui shouted, regaining his senses and attacking the woman. The chains her chains used for sealing was used as a spear to pieced his flesh and end his life. His blood added to the stains on the floor and his body, the pile on the beds.
"What do you think would happen to your daughter if you up and died?" the woman said conversationally. Gisei blinked, wondering what this woman was talking about.
"Th-they promised they would take care of her," she studdered stupidly.
"Oh? What that what they said," the woman said, closing the distance between them. She knelt in front of Gisei, her green eyes blazing. "Are you so stupid as to think they would let her be when she could easily replace you?"
"Karin is only a child!" Gisei yelled. They wouldn't; they couldn't.
Geisei was placed in a genjutsu. The room transformed the patients were alive and writhing in pain. She was confused until she saw Zosui dragging her daughter into the room, kicking and screaming before handing her over to a medical ninja. The medical ninja took the struggling Karin to an injured shinobi offering her hand to the man who bit painfully into her flesh.
"Ahhh!"
Gisei didn't know who screamed as she desperately tried to get to her child. She stood, running to them before the illusion faded, and she slipped on blood falling. She looked around confused before remembering that Zosui and everyone in the room was already dead.
"Wow, you really care for her, huh?" the woman said, astonished. "I heard mothers can't think straight when it came to their children. So it's true, huh."
Gisei glared at the woman.
"Of course, a mother would try to save her child in trouble!" she yelled in anger, tears running down her cheeks. What woman would watch their child suffer?
"… is that right?" the woman looked away, her eyes becoming distant.
The pain in her eyes only lasted a moment before her head snapped in another direction.
"Reinforcement is coming; we need to leave." She said, turning to leave.
Every mother would put their child first. After seeing was might happen to her child, should she die, Gisei wouldn't risk it. She was at her limits and wouldn't last if the war, which showed no signs of stopping, didn't end.
She looked at the back of the one that slaughtered others without a second thought. She could stay and die, leaving her daughter in the hands of monsters, or she could risk it and leave with a psycho.
Gisei remembered the look on her face, and her motherly instinct wouldn't allow her any other choice. She couldn't abandon a suffering child. She stood and chased the broken monster.
Honoka stared at the spot the beast once stood in disbelief. Her black eyes traveled to her saviors to find them all looking at her. There all had red hair women like her and used chains as she did. Honoka had no knowledge of her family, but she sensed there was a connection between them.
She lived on the island for most of her life on this godforsaken island, placed in charge of restraining the beast they made. Now that she lost her purpose, she had nowhere to go. Looking around the ruined lab, she noted that no one had survived the disaster. She was at a loss at what to do.
"It's okay now."
Honoka looked up to see the green-eyed presumed leader smiling down at her. "We are here for you now." She reached out a hand while wearing a bright smile. Honoka took the hand offered and got pulled into a hug where she presided to bawl her eyes out. She was free; she was finally free.
Saara smiled at the heartwarming in front of her; it was times like these that made her wonder who was the mother in the group. Ina arrived at her war-torn city and rescued her and her citizens. Her daughter had a future now because of this woman. She gripped the charka blade she received from her savior a decade before.
Ryumyaku was an ancient source of chakra that flowed deep under Roran, that granted infinite power to those who harness it. Only the blood heirs of the kingdom can open or close the flow but once open it could be used by anyone.
Sara's mother was manipulated by an evil shinobi that craved the power of Ryumyaki. The shinobi killed her mother and turned Sara into a puppet queen. Her civilians were left to suffer until she received a dream warning her about the shinobi's deceit and a chakra blade. She used the blade to seal stop the flow of Ryumyaki and stopped the shinobi's evil plans.
However, even as she saved her kingdom and people, peace was short-lived as foreign nations attacked seeking the power of Ryumaki. It was during one of these attacks did a demon appear before them offering them salvation.
It was so much like what the evil shinobi had done before that Sara was hesitant to take the hand offered. Then the demon spoke, and word of assurance came from it. They would protect her people giving them a new place to live as appose to them becoming nomads.
Her people wavered.
They were tired from the drown out battle with invaders and desperately wanted a future for their loved ones, even if it meant becoming a slave again. Sara too wanted what was best for her daughter; but she couldn't allow her people to be used again.
"I have no need for the strength of your people." The demon said. "I can kill a thousand men on my own."
"Prove it!" one of her advisers dared to say.
"Very well."
That day, Sara saw what true power was.
The evil shinobi was a terrible foe, but he relied on the ley lines which she had control over. This beast did not draw strength from the infinite chakra source, yet, as they said, they massacred a thousand of the invaders and scattered the rest.
They could not defeat her; the demon called, Ina. She was
When asked why she was there if not for the infinite chakra source. She pointed to Sara and said,
"You"
They were surprised, Sara had no other power than control over the ley lines. If Ina didn't want the power the city held, what could she want with Sara? When asked they were told Sara was a member of Ina's clan. An Uzumaki.
She revealed their true heritage as people from the Uzumaki clan, and the sealing of Ryumyaki was proof of that. Their family was tasked with protecting the Ryumaki before the fall of Uzushiogakure.
They didn't believe her until she song their family song bring attention the "…the light flowing in sprials to the garden where the dragon claws end shadows of the olden days." The spiral was the symbol of the Uzumaki clan and there were indeed matching spirals on the ruin pillared around the Ryumyaki chamber.
And then Ina revealed that the man who warned her and gave her the chakra blade was also an Uzumaki. Sara had never told anyone about her dream, not even her own daughter.
"I'm here to help." The demon said with a sly smile. "You may also see him again if you come with me."
Sara decided to go with the demon. It was for the sake of her people and most definitely not because she wanted to see her savior again.
"Alright, everyone," Ina said, rolling up her sleeve. The seals there glowed and a pattern formed on the ground. A blinding light engulfed them, and they disappeared.
The group reappeared on a platformed coved with fuinjutsu. The landing site, as Ina had dubbed it, was a platform made to receive those summoned the the "Village."
Using the reveal summoning and the fuinjutsu, the Uzumaki's she found, knew. She could teleport people to the place marked to receive them. The distance was irrelevant; one need only be marked or in contact with a marked person to teleport. Powered by natural chakra, the portal would always be open.
"Momma!" two redheaded children ran up the newly arrived group and hugged the legs of Sara and Gisei. Karain and Serruma, Sara's daughter, were only two years apart. As their mothers were often together, the two girls became fast friends.
Ina smiled as the girls pulled their mothers away, barely pausing to say hello to Ina and welcome to Honoka. Ina waved while muttering about getting no respect.
"You're the same age as them; why would they respect you.?"
Ina groaned as she turned to see the Uchiha clan head Fugaku looking down on her as usual. He looked after his daughter, Ume, was born. Ina took great pleasure in reminding him just how stressful it was to raise a girl. He had a few grey hairs despite being so young.
"I have told you before I am not a child, old man," Ina said. After separating from sakura, Ina took the memories of her past life with her. The hope was that "Sakura" would become her own person without the burden of their past memory.
Unfortunately, those of the Uchiha clan still saw her as Sakura, the child with the crazy plan to save them. She went through all that trouble to make her body a body that resembled Marinette's, but it was in vain.
"You…" Fugaku growled.
If looks could kill.
How are the perorations proceeding?" Ina said, changing the subject.
"The preparations are going smoothly; we will be able to fly in two years at the minimum," Fugaku informed her, willing to overlook her insult. "the power source is still a concern, however. I understand the plan to use chakra, and the chakra receivers you brought from the land of snow are fully operational, but…"
"Don't worry," I said, waving him off. "I am expecting a guest today."
She turned to Honoka, who have been ignored until now, and pushed her towards Fugaku.
"Put her with the others." She said ominously, making Honoka nervous.
As she turned to leave, a little boy called out to her.
"Ina-san!"
She turned to see a blond boy that most definitely wasn't Naruto running towards her. He crashed into her legs, hugging them. Green eyes looked up at her, sparkling with joy. Ina brushed a hand through his light blond hair.
Temujin, the sole survivor of the royal family of Gelel. Ina had to cross the sea to another continent to find this little gem, but it was worth it.
When Kaguya ate the chakra fruit, she became the only one who could use chakra. When she gave birth to her two sons, the three of them were the only ones who could utilize chakra. However aside from the chakra granted by the god tree, there was the natural energy of the world, natural chakra. The animals of this world were affected by this chakra, and though that lived long enough became sages.
After Kaguya was defeated and sealed away, her sons passed on their chakra to the people of their nation, and the eastern continent became the five great nations. The eastern continent became the center of the world and where all those that survived Kaguya's rule resided; until they crossed the great seas. They traveled west and formed new nations that strongly resembled Europe from Earth.
They didn't rely on chakra and knowledge of the magical force was lost to time. As such, the west was more advance in technology than the east. Though one could not say, they were more powerful than the five great nations. Their technology would surprise at first, but ninjas were crafty and could find the weakness in everything. The fact that ninjas could walk on water and easily cause earthquakes and thunderstorms was not something to take lightly.
Thankfully a war of east and west never occur as both continents were busy infighting. On such war left Temujin an orphan, without a homeland. It was all a plot by a power-hungry man to get the stones of Gelel.
Ina traveled to the west for the same purpose as the warlord, Haido. She found him before she found Temujin and used him to locate the village Temujin resided. Like the original story, he ransacked Temujin's home in search of the book of Gelel.
Unlike the original tale, a goddess with red hair searched franticly for a survivor and found the scared boy hidden behind a collapsed bookshelf. With a relieved smile, she reached out a hand which he took.
She was worried she was too late, and Temujin was already brainwashed but was relieved to see that he was still at the house. She gathered the children all in one place and teleported them to Uchiha village; before returning west.
Haido couldn't be allowed to live, and she could use those engineers he had on his payroll. As she suspected, he was frantically searching for Temujin and the children of the village. The children he used as soldiers came from the village, as they were now gone; he was frustrated.
Ina appeared when he went to make more orphans. He had nothing to offer her, so she ended him quickly and took those he fooled into thinking he would create world peace.
Rescuing Temujin had been the plan, but after getting her hands on the technology of the warlord Haido, she couldn't resist. She gathered the Uzumakis and built a new home for the Uchihas, one that would rival Haido's moving castle. She merely needed one more piece.
She picked up Temujin into her arms and walked off the deck into the meeting room. On the way, she listened to Temujin's tales of his training lessons with Kimimaro. Kimimaro Kaguya, the sole survivor of the Kaguya clan, wasn't as hard to find as Ina thought.
Like Temujin, it was a race against time to get to him before Orochimaru. At the end of a blood trail, she found him sitting under a tree, hugging his knee. Without thinking about it, she reached out to him, and he took it. She had forgotten why she was looking for him and took him away with her.
She was happy that he was getting along with Temujin.
Stepping into the meeting room that looked more like a throne room, Ina was pleased to see the final puzzle piece was groveling on the floor surrounded by Uchihas. She walked over to the head chair, her throne, and sat down, Temujin still in her arms.
Amber eyes glared up at her through black hair.
"He must have used his technique to try and escape the Uchiha," Ina grinned, "Fool."
"I've been expecting you, Shinno," she said, looking down on him. "If that is your real name."
Shinno, a shinobi from the land of the sky and an exceptional medical ninja. In search of a scroll to unlock the powers of the zero tails, he entered a village in the land of fire disguised as a shinobi turn doctor. Somewhere along the line, he taught Orochimaru several forbidden regeneration jutsus.
Like every bad guy, he wanted world domination, and Ina couldn't have that. It was decided that he wasn't necessary for Naruto's growth and thus, could be eliminated; after he fulfilled his role of course.
"What is it you want from me?" he snarled. The Uchiha's surrounding him activated their Sharingan in irritation. Ina chuckled.
"Oh, nothing much," she said playfully, "just your village's secrets." His eyes narrowed. "I want to fly, you see, and I thought I should ask the experts how it's done." His eyes widen with realization.
"That's right I know exactly who you are."
Killing intent leaked from Ina and spread through the room.
"Don't think your life is very valuable, however," she said. "You're not the only one I have prepared."
Her eyes glowed with murderous intent that made the Uchihas shiver. The image surrounding Ina was a loving motherly figure to the children, a child playing dress-up to the Uchihas, and a murderous psychopath to outsiders, though the Uchihas were beginning to wonder if she really was bloodthirsty.
"As if I would subjugate myself to you!" Shinno yelled defiantly.
"Very well~."
Chains extended from her back and pierced his flesh. His eyes trembled as he looked upon the monster disguised as a goddess.
"See Temujin, you should never put all your eggs in one basket," she whispered, stroking his hair to calm him. "When making a plan, always have backups, 'kay." She retracted her chains, and Shinno doubled over coughing blood. His body began to heal, however, so he wouldn't die with that alone.
"In this form," she said, "I am invincible!"
"Oh my," Ina said cheerfully. "It seems I've found a training dummy!" she sounded excited. "Just to be sure, you will always heal, right?"
His eyes widen in horror at the pure joy on her face.
"… what?" he crocked.
"Take him to the dungeon with the others."
"Yes, ma'am."
The Uchihas, that stood and watched, moved to the fool with the big mouth that was now gapping.
"You can't do this!" he yelled, struggling.
Suddenly, a seal appeared on his body, courtesy of the hidden grass village, that sealed his powers away, and he became an old man again. The Uchihas dragged him out as another group dragged another sky ninja in.
The two shared a moment of looking in each other's eyes with dread and the mutual understanding that; they were screwed.
They say third times the charm, but it took more than that to break the sky shinobis. They simply refused to give in. It was a good lesson for Temujin, if nothing else.
"Why did they resist?" He asked. "Don't they know this is for the greater good?"
"Humans are inherently selfish," was her reply. "They think only of themselves and how others can help them, rather than how to help others." She looked down into his green eyes and smiled softly. "You must always be aware of others around you, Temujin. You must never be narrow-sighted that you miss the pain you cause to those around you."
"But you hurt others too," he said, looking at her in confusion.
"That is correct," she confirmed. "I hurt very bad people in other to save those unable to save themselves." She looked out the window at the golden sunset. "Sometimes, you have to remove dead branches to ensure the tree's survival. Do you understand, Temujin?"
"I think so," his voice was small. "Sacrifices must be made for the greater good?" He looked up at her, seeking confirmation when she frowned.
"Who said those words to you?"
"Uchiha-san"
"I'm gonna punch him."
"Eh!?"
"Send Amaru to the medic bay to be treated," Ina said as she walked out of the meeting room.
"Yes, ma'am."
"And tell Kimimaro there an Uchiha that needs beating."
"Right away, ma'am."
"Wait! Hold on a second," Temujin pealed uselessly.
"You called, mother?" Kimimaro appeared from thin air moments later like the ninja he was.
"We are going to punish you, teacher, for teaching Temujin useless things." She explained.
"Okay," was all Kimimaro said on the matter.
"Don't agree so readily, brother!" Temujin chastised Kimimaro.
"Sacrifices must be made for the greater good, who teaches children that nonsense," Ina muttered, power walking to the training ground.
"Mom!"
A child's futile cries could be heard beyond the steel walls of the castle. Modeled after samurai castles, it sat on a hill of gray stone. Though the main castle was still under construction, the surrounding area was a lively village. The Uchiha and the Uzumakis mingled and bonded over losing their homeland, as did the westerners and others Ina had taken in. It was a land of nomads coming together to form a new nation.
However, they were living on borrowed lands, which was why Ina needed the technology that would allow her to have her very own, Castle in the sky.
Time skip!
