Chapter 93. Birth of a god.

I was a small fox running through the world with curious eyes. I was the first-born son of the Uchiha leader; it was my duty to lead my clan. I was the first-born son of the Senju clan leader; I would support my family. I was an orphan looking up at the Hokage mountain; I would become one of them. I was a small child gazing up at the Hokage mountain, realizing where I was and what I must do.

I must protect.

The smell of blood filled my nose as I stood on the battlefield. I was tired, my eyes heavy. How much longer must I suffer for a family that abandoned me? I didn't want to fight anymore. Just then, a man appeared before me. He dressed in traditional clothes and had an odd appearance. Though unusual, he looked human enough for me to conclude he was an old man. He walked with a staff that jiggled as he moved closer. He was a priest of some kind. I turned to him, pulling my blade from the corpse and pointing its stained tip at him.

He smiled at me, kind and warm. I was instantly on alert.

"You need not fear me," he said with a chuckle. "I need your help, warrior."

"Oh?" this guy must think I'm stupid. "Pray tell Sage, what service can I provide."

"My sons are in a constant war with each other. It pains me to see them in an endless cycle of hate," he confessed. "I besieged thee. Please save my children."

"Sounds interesting."

Sakura!

The bud trembled from the shock of the attack, and then it opened. Like a flower blooming, the petals separated, revealing the woman inside. Her pale hair draped on the ground as she sat, her exposed skin smooth and pale. Atop her forehead were two horns; red and sharp, protruding from her skin. Her eyelids were red, with two dots above her brow that matched Kimimaru's. She looked like a doll until she moved, standing from her lotus, her hair pale white, dragging on the ground behind her.

With closed eyes, she reached forward. The Uzumaki flinched, jumping back to create some distance. Pink petals that all knew were deadly summons rushed from their perch in celebration, embracing the woman and clothing her.

She stepped out of the swarm wearing new clothes that glistened like pink diamonds. With pink qipao lined with gems and black tights, her heels clicked dangerously on the wooden surface.

Click.

Power radiated from her, scorching the air and making it suffocating. Fear was the only emotion they could process.

Fear of their death.

Kisame moved, rushing forward to retrieve his sword. He reached Sasuke's body and gripped the handle but found himself slamming into the sharp petals of the tree. He coughed blood and fell to the branch below. It happened in a flash. One moment, Kisame was beside Sasuke; the next, he was gone.

"Fast," Ina thought, looking over at Kisame's body. "This is bad," she admitted, summoning her chains to bind the woman. Chains that could hold a tailed beast shattered upon touching her. Ina paled. She gritted her teeth and summoned five kunai. Beating her as she is now wasn't an option; sealing her away was their only path.

"Five elemental seal!" Ina announced. Calling on the elements to hold the girl, the infused Kunais glowed. Chains of the five elements ensnared her body, holding her still. The only way to seal a God was to separate their body from their soul, as they did with Kaguya and Moryo. Before she gained control and "Awakened," Ina needed to seal her. If only to stop the disaster Miroku witnessed. She promised to unseal her when the time was right as she began to chant.

The priestess's seal formed below them as she weaved through hand seals. Ironically, she was interrupted as Shion was before her.

She was pushed back. That was the only way to describe the feeling. Ina was pushed through the sharp petals and expelled from the tree altogether. She had time to gasp before receiving five pink swords in the stomach. She coughed blood as she plummeted to the ground. Ina forgot about that. Those eyes she has, the ones only "gods" possessed.

The Rinnegan was really a pain.

In the Sakura tree, Kisame groaned as he struggled to stand. He was hit once, and yet he felt like a broken vase. He came along to He didn't expect it to be this bad. He glanced at the sword still embedded in the boy's body and grimaced. He was regretting letting go of it now. His eyes traveled to the girl, and his heart stopped. She was looking his way.

Delicate lashes fluttered as her eyes opened, revealing pale eyes.

Pale eyes of the Byakugan.

Kisame cursed. He looked at the blade one last time before he body flickered away. He would retrieve Samehada later.

Sakura watched them go uninterested. She waved a hand, causing healing chakra to envelop Sasuke's limp body. She turned fully to the boy when the sword pinning him down ate the chakra. Information flashed through her mind about the blade and what it could do. The snort that came from her was uncharacteristic of her stoic, dolllike face.

Gripping the sword handle, she pulled it from Sasuke's body, watching blankly as the wound healed. The sword wiggled in her grasp and retaliated, sporting spikes from its handle. Sakura looked down at its pathetic attempts to hurt her. Its attacks couldn't pierce her scales. She tossed the sword and returned her attention to the Uchiha. Smooth skin greeted her; his restoration was complete. She picked him up and placed him in her flower bud; it would be safe there. She closed the bud and turned to leave.

"Sakura."

She paused, looking back at the bud. There was a debate, and then she turned and left, pink petals making way for her. There was no time. The tree shocked violently; perhaps this place wasn't as safe as she assumed.

A giant snake wrapped around the tree and climbed to the top. The shinobis watched in horror as it hissed and opened its maw.

It received a slap to the face for its troubles.

The slap reverberated off the dome like thunder and shook the earth, sending the beast falling back to the ground below. The ground shook from the impact, leaving the genins awestruck.

Without warning, three more snakes appeared wearing a red scarf, gigantic in size; they charged toward the tree and its maker. They didn't make it up half the tree.

Wood sprouted from the tree and ensnared the beasts, holding them in a vise grip. The snakes hissed in anger, and the riders leapt from their heads.

Webs formed below the floated Sakura, and four shinobis surrounded her.

"Sound Four," she recognized, though they looked "different" somehow. One with Four arms, Kidomaru released a net of webs to trap her. Tayuya, the red-haired woman and possibly Uzumaki, began to play her flute while Jirobo, the big guy, and Sakon and Ukon, the twins, attacked from above. If the webs didn't trap her, the music would, and the two above would be her end. This formation was one of their team attacks and never failed.

Then again, they never used it against a god.

It happened all at once. The webs burned as a wave of water swept Tayuya away. It was too late for the two above to stop, and Sakura grabbed their wrist before throwing them into Kidomaru. The web flooring burned, and the four fell back to the ground, though landing gracefully.

Following the Sound Four's example, the remaining reanimated corpses called upon their contracted summons. The battlefield was suddenly crawling with all sorts of beasts. She would have trouble defeating them all, they were sure.

Sakura floated above them all and pointed a finger to the sky. On her command, her own summons gathered above her. The sky turned pink as flower petals gathered above her. The pink petals turned into swords, sharp and numerous; they covered the sky. Suddenly, the army of summons didn't seem so threatening.

Someone screamed retreat, but there was nowhere to run; nevertheless, they fled, seeking shelter from the storm that was coming. Sakura pointed down and sentenced them to death.

It was like rain. Pink, deathly rain. The blades fell upon Sakura's enemies and showered them with pain. Those seeking shelter under rocks, were buried, and those foolish enough to fight, were impaled.

Shinobis of the five nations watch in horror as the enemies around them are whipped out. The Jinchurikis, too, looked up with a hint of fear as the woman rained death upon the land. The shinobis were left unharmed; only the uninvited guest faced Sakura's wrath.

After five long minutes, the chaos ended. The sky was tinted gold, and the ground now colored pink. It was a graveyard of swords, and the shinobis were too scared to move. Even the undead did not raise after facing that attack. The immortal beings knew death for the final time.

Kakashi looked up at his student from his stance on the side of the tree. They were climbing it when everything went to hell, and people started dying. Kastashi looked over at the corpse that turned into a puppet and went limp.

Asuma sighed. "And here I thought this was a rescue mission."

"It can't be helped if Kakashi creates monsters," Kurenai said.

"She's so youthful!" Guy exclaimed. "Though this is starting to remind me of the Uchiha incident. She won't fall again, will she?"

Kakashi narrowed his eyes on Sakura; something wasn't right.

"We should head to the top," Sakura's puppet said.

"Is there really a need anymore?" Kakashi asked.

"We need to retrieve Sasuke," she said.

Kakashi looked up at the crown and frowned.

"Maa, Maa. Can't be helped," he said, biting his thumb. "Summoning jutsu!"

"Kakashi," Inugami growled.

"Couldn't you have done that before," Asuma complained.

Sakura's puppet jumped onto the beast's back, and Kakashi went behind her.

"You guys head back down, we'll be right back," Kakashi said as he rode off.

"Famous last words," Asuma said and Kurenai slapped him on the back of the head.

Those beneath the dome that was a threat were eliminated. Sakura observed the situation and was satisfied. Now, she just needed to complete the final act. She looked up in time to see a man with long black hair diving towards her. She raised her hand, intent on delivering the same attack, when a formation formed on the dome above; the man went through the Formation, which flashed purple.

When the blinding light cleared, the man now sported dragon wings as he flew towards her. The people below screamed and scattered, recognizing him as the dragon from before. Sakura wasn't disturbed. She formed wings on her back and met the opponent head-on. Their clash shook the heavens like thunder, the gust of wind like a storm.

Sakura kicked the man higher into the sky and flew after him. With more room to fight, the two were merciless in their assault.

The man roared like a dragon as Sakura took a graceful pose. Moryo glared at the woman before him, no, a child, really. Even with her long hair and graceful posture, there was no hiding the youth in those pale eyes. Were it not for those wicked red horns protruding from her head, one could be fooled into thinking she was a small child. He remembered Shion then and steeled his heart. If he let this beast out into the world, there would be no place for Shion to grow up. He didn't want to lose another of his homes!

Moryo summoned seal formations in the air before him and displayed his power. Dragons made of chakra rushed from the seal formation and changed at Sakura, their jaws wide. Sakura's wings fluttered, and she flew around the attacking Dragons, cutting them open as she passed their forms. She spun, cutting the dragons further before pointing her blade towards him.

Her blade did not reach him; more dragons attacked, pushing her back. If his attacks were too weak, he would overwhelm her.

Death by a thousand papercuts.

The dragons encircled her until there was nothing but a sea of purple. It wasn't just the maws that Moryo's enemies had to fear. His chakra was poisonous; touching his dragons was a death sentence. He glared as the girl disappeared from view. This was the end.

Drip.

Like a stone falling into the water, waves of chakra bust from the swarm of dragons. Moryo fluttered back from the force, his eyes wide as his dragons evaporated into chakra before being absorbed into the girl. Dark chakra formed into a small dark ball that fit into Sakura's hands. She looked at the ball of chakra with disinterest before swallowing the object.

Moryo was horrid; he'd forgotten. The Ogre's most powerful ability. Chakra absorption.

Moryo clicked his tongue. It's been a while, but he wouldn't shy away from swordplay. He summoned a sword of black steel and stood ready. He usually left the fighting for his soldiers, choosing instead to observe. He had no choice now.

Sakura licked her lips, and unpleasant memories returned to him. He was thankful for her blank eyes; were they amused even a little, he might have lost his composure long ago.

They both took a kenjutsu stance and charged.

Thunder clapped as their swords clashed, the impact causing a storm around them. The dome above them cracked and trembled, unable to withstand the force. Sparks flew as their blades met, the metal heating from the action. Moryo glared, but Sakura's eyes were blank. There was a flash of red in those pale eyes, and her fighting style changed.

The once graceful style was replaced by force and speed. The blade moved to kill, aiming for vital areas. Moryo flew back from the force, and summoned more swords to stop her from advancing. The sword attack bought him enough time to right himself before he faced another brutal attack.

"Heavy," he thought before he was thrown downwards. He right himself hastily flapped his wings to stop his fall. He looked up in time to see a rain of blades heading his way. Quickly, he flew away and dodged the attack while flying towards her at great speed.

Chakra-based attacks did not work on her, so he had to get creative. He took a deep breath and blew black smoke. As the smoke cleared, his ghost army, now sporting wings like a Tengu, flew around her. Moryo gave the command, and the soldiers flew towards her. Predictably, they fell easily, since they weren't meant to fly.

Moryo watched as the stone forms crumbled and fell to the ground. Sakura locked on him, and she readied her sword. She vanished then. Moryo's eyes widened, and he frantically searched for her, only to be attacked from above. He retaliated, but she disappeared once more. The wind carried flower petals, and he noticed the seal on those petals.

He could only curse as Sakura teleported to each petal, cutting him as he went. Moryo bore the pain as more cuts appeared on his body. He couldn't track her with his eyes or his senses. Sakura appeared and disappeared in a flash. Suddenly, the wind changed, and Moryo was in the sender of a swirling ball.

The air thinned, and he struggled to breathe; only now noticing Sakura stop attacking. He honestly wished she hadn't.

The swirling ball caught fire and became an inferno of flames. He could only scream as the ball exploded.

Sakura watched as the man fell from the sky, his robes charred. He wouldn't die from just that, so she summoned more blades and rained them on his body. Moryo looked at the swords, and they mercilessly approached him. He closed his eyes in acceptance.

His life flashed before his eyes, his memories settling on one of a pouting Miroku and a confused Shion.

The jingle of a bell rang in his ear.

His eyes snapped open. He won't die like this. Not to an Ogre wannabe!

He took a Stone of Gelel from his robes and swallowed it.

Chakra exploded from his form, knocking the swords off course. The sky was light with green energy, and the Shinobis on the ground cowered in fear.

Naruto and Neji

Naruto looked up at the scenery and couldn't help but worry for Sakura. This chakra was familiar to the Uzumaki. Zabuza and Haku exuded this chakra after obtaining gems. The image of Sasuke's cold body in his arms made him shiver.

Neji glared up at Sakura, his byakugan activated, looking distressed. Her chakra was mudded, and Neji couldn't make heads or tails of it.

"I'll be fine," He heard. Looking back, he saw Sakura's puppet and Gaara. The puppet smiled. "I won't lose." Naruto nodded. Gaara's eyes were locked on Sakura's figure; the feeling was stronger now, and the One tail was howling in pleasure.

"Mother," he muttered.

Lee and Tenten

"This is quite something," Yagura said, amused as watched the light show. Things didn't turn out as planned, but he had a feeling they wouldn't. Utakata was silently watching along with Lee and Tenten.

"We should head to the tree," Sakura's puppet announced. "Things are about to be bad."

"How can they get worse?" Tenten sighed.

"You'll see," The puppet guaranteed. "Let's go!" The group traveled after them.

Ino and Shikamaru

"To the tree?" Yugito Nii, the two tailed beast's host, asked with a fold of her hands. "Are you crazy? You want to get closer to that thing?"

"You're sanity in question; you shouldn't be in this profession, baby." Killer B rapped.

Ino was over these two while Shikamaru toned out when Killer B started "Talking."

"By that thing I'm sure you don't mean me?" The puppet's smile was deadly, and seeing as the original was above them, Yugito didn't dare say more.

"Listen, She knows what she's doing," Shikamaru said. "It's dangerous for you guys, so we need to get you to safety."

"I'm not so weak that I need your help," Yugito rejected.

"Can you face off against that?" Ino pointed at the ball of light in the sky, and Yugito frowned.

"Didn't think so; let's get going before Sakura level's this place."

"Is she a friend of Foe? I got to know," Killer B rapped.

"Hell, if I know," Ino and Shikamaru said in unison.

The two cloud jinchuriki exchanged looks.

Shino and Choji

The trip was quiet as the group leaped through the trees towards the Sakura tree. It surprisingly didn't take much convincing to get the two to cooperate. Their Kage was still missing, and the two weren't fond of their village to begin with.

"You're friends with that sage, right?" Han, the five tailed host, asked.

"Sage?" Choji wondered. "Yeah, we're friends with Sakura. She sent us here to protect you guys."

Roshi nodded at his companion, and they two followed them to the tree.

Sakura's puppet looked worriedly at the ball of green energy.

"Gelel she muttered.

Hinata and Kiba

"This is a terrible idea," Fu, the seven tail host, yelled. "Why are we heading towards the battle; we should be going in the opposite direction!"'

"There's a dome around us, idiot; where are you planning to run to?" Kiba shot back in annoyance. Even as she complained, fu followed behind them faithfully. Sakura's puppet said nothing in this exchange. As long as Fu followed, what did it matter if she complained the whole way?

"Who are you calling an idiot, Dog breath!"

"Sakura?" Hinata called hesitantly, unsure if this puppet could be referred to as Sakura.

The puppet looked back. Filled with confidence, Hinata continued. "Do we have to bring her back in "one-piece?"

"Why Jinchuriki can heal; I'd rather not give her more reason to run her mouth."

"What did you say!?" Fu exclaimed.

"Perhaps we could knock her unconscious?"

"It's too much of a bother to carry a corpse."

"Who are you calling a corpse!?" Fu frowned. "If Chomei didn't say I should follow you, I'd be long gone by now!"

"Good to know at least someone has a brain in that body of yours," Kiba complained.

"What'd you say!"

The girls sighed.

The green ball of energy grew brighter and larger, forcing those facing to cover their eyes. As their eyes shut, they heard the roar of a mighty beast.

Like a serpent from his hole, the beast flew from the ball of light ascending into the sky.

A majestic dragon with green glowing eyes and purple scales glared down at Sakura, its body the size of a tailed beast, and long enough to wrap around the Leaf village.

Sakura hmphed. It's been a while since she slayed a dragon.

Hmm? Sakura slayed dragons? Oh yeah lots of times. I mean one of the gods of shinobis must have at one time. Right?
