12: kidnapped
Jasmine, Luna, Susan, and Daphne all come to in the secret room under the grate hall. As soon as all of them are recognize there surroundings, 3 of them break into wide smiles.
Luna looks up to Jasmine. "He made it!"
Jasmine smiles in releaf. "Yes he did. Now we know not everyone that has faught against the Eternal Darkness died from their fight."
Susan looked over at Luna. "How did you help Lindsey in those trapped hallways?"
Luna blinks. "I don't really know. I just wanted to make sure he wasn't harmed by the possible traps, and just waved my hand in frustration."
Jasmine smiles. "I wonder if this means we can help others as well?"
Daphne frowns, before turning to Jasmine. "If your grandfather's mansion is in the colonies, then why is this room here?"
Jasmine pauses. "I don't know". She gets a strange look. "It makes me wonder if anything else was moved here."
Luna tiltes her head. "We might as well check the library."
The other girls give her a look.
Luna Shrugs. "Mr. Roivas placed that sealed jar in his library. With everything else here it's safe to check if the jar was moved as well."
Nodding at Luna's logic, Jasmine led the other girls out of the secret room.

Jasmine and the girls had been searching the library for a couple of hours. So far they had found nothing. Jasmine was beginning to worry that if Mantorok's essence was here, someone else had found it long ago.
Daphne frowned after checking another shelf. "If it is here, this library is too large for us to search in a timely manner."
Jasmine nodded. "I agree. Let's each take a different section and see what we can find. We'll return to the front desk of the library after 20 minutes, or if we happen to find the essence."
The others nodded, before separating to search different sections.
Luna searched through the magical creatures section. Given the fact that Jasmine's grand father had hidden the jar behind a book titled "The Demon of the Khmer", she suspected the essence of Mantorok was hidden in this section. However, after searching for 20 minutes she had found nothing, so she returned to the front of the library.
Susan decided to try searching through the section on dada. Her reasoning was since they were fighting against a powerful enemy, the book would be hidden in the section about defending one's self. However, she couldn't find a single sign of the book they girls had seen at the end of the last chapter. Nor could she find any sign of the essence. After 20 minutes she gave up and returned to the front of the library.
Daphne decided to see if the section on rituals would have any information they could use in fighting the Eternal Darkness. She was under no allusions that anyone other than Jasmine Potter would be able to find the essence of Mantorok. It was obvious to Daphne that Jasmine had been selected to fight the darkness. However, she wasn't sure why she and the others were allowed to see what happened in the past. Didn't mean she wasn't going to try and learn as much as she could before Jasmine took on Pious.
It was there for a great surprise to Daphne when she found the "The Demon of the Khmer", and looking behind it found the jar containing the essence of Mantorok. Hiding the jar in a mokeskin pouch she carried Daphne return to the front of the library.
When she got there she saw Luna and Bones. However, after waiting an additional 5 minutes past the agreed upon time there was still no sign of Jasmine. Daphne looked worried. "Anyone see what section she went to?"
Luna nodded. "I saw her heading into the restricted section."
With a nod, Daphne led the 2 other girls over to the section of the library that was suposed to be for books so dangerous that only sixth and seventh years could look at them with a teacher's permission. As they entered the section they noticed a faint trace of magic in the air.
After Exploring the section for a few minutes, they came across Jasmine's wand lying on the floor. The wand was in bad shape. Part of the hilt was chard. While the end of the wand looked like something slashed it with a blade or claws. Whatever had attacked Jasmine had clearly removed her from the library.
Susan looked distraught. "The darkness got Jasmine", she cried quietly.
Daphne frowned. "Did she have the tome on her?"
Luna shook her head. "Jasmine gave it to me when we left the room earlier."
Daphne and Susan sigh in relief. At least the darkness hadn't gotten their hands on the tome. However, they would need to find Jasmine before trying to locate the next chapter page. Determined to find Jasmine, the 3 girls leave the library.

Three days had passed after Jasmine's kidnapping. In all that time nobody had seen hide nor hair of the girl. Nor did anyone else seem like they cared.
Daphne and luna had still needed to go to class during those 3 days. Susan on the other hand had contacted her aunt Amelia about Jasmine's disappearance.
After learning about Jasmine's rescue of her niece, Amelia had allowed Susan to stay in the hidden room under the grate hall. It came as a shock to the girls that Amelia knew about the secret room and wasn't kicking the girls out of it. Though Amelia had asked the girls to ask Jasmine, when she was found, to come and see her.
It was during dinner in the grate hall that fourth day that Luna mentioned something odd about the Astronomy tower.
Daphne blinked. "You and your class had to take another route to get up to the top of the tower?"
Luna nodded. "It seems the door leading into the Astronomy tower has disappeared."
Susan put down her fork. "Disappeared how?"
Luna shrugged. "I didn't see it myself. I only heard that Professor Sinistra couldn't get into the tower and that the door had somehow disappeared."
Daphne looked excited. "I know the door was there before Jasmine's disappearance. Why don't we see if we can find the door to the tower."
The others nodded, and once they had all finished their food, the 3 of them got up and left the hall.

Jasmine Potter stretched for the 20th time since waking from her latest nap. She couldn't believe she had been kidnapped, right out of the Hogwarts library.
When she and the girls had split up, Jasmine had headed for the restricted section. She reasoned that Edward her grandfather would not want just anyone finding Mantorok's essence. So he would have hidden the jar in a place where most students couldn't go. Fortunately, that wasn't a problem for Jasmine.
Unfortunately, she wasn't able to search for very long. 5 minutes after entering the Restricted section, she was attacked by a Bonethief. Since she had given the tome to Luna, Jasmine was unable to fight off the minion of darkness. She even lost her wand in the struggle.
Now here she sat, in a room in the Astronomy tower. She had at least been able to study, since her kidnapper had not taken her school bab.
On her 4th night in the tower, Jasmine had grown board. So she decided to explore the tower and try to figure out why she had been brought here. After all, wouldn't the castle dungeons have been a better place to hold a prisoner?
As Jasmine examined 1 of the tower walls, she was surprised to find a sliding panel. When she slid it to 1 side she discovered a red barrier covering the entrance to a secret balcany. Since Jasmine didn't have the Tome of Eternal Darkness on her person, she couldn't dispell the barrier. So she slid the panel back into place.
As she returned to the only chair she was able to sit in, she heard approaching footsteps and voices.

Luna, Dapne, and Susan had made their way up to the Astronomy tower. All 3 of them were hopeful that Jasmine was actually in the tower. After all if she was not here, who knew where else they would have to look to find their leader.
Luna knew that Jasmine didn't think of herself as the leader of the group. However, Jasmine had been the 1 to bring them all together. She had saved Luna and Susan from being attacked. And she still needed to help Daphne with her house maits.
Luna led the other girls to where the door to the inner tower should be. Examining the wall the girls spot a red sigil on the wall. Right next to where the door should appear.
Daphne frowns. "Why is the sigil red?"
Luna looks up from examining the sigil. "I guess this proves it."
Susan looks at Luna. "Proves what Luna?"
Luna doesn't look up from her examination. "After you, Jasmine, and I finished reading the third chapter Dobby told us about a master of the tome." Susan nodded. "From what we have been able to determine, Jasmine is the opposite of Chattur'gha, I am the opposite of Ulyaoth, and Daphne is the opposite of Xel'lotath. Luna points to the sigil on the wall. "This sigil is for Chattur'gha, so it is the opposite of Jasmine. Since we are not in the tome itself, and since I am the 1 carrying the tome, this must mean that Jasmine is the master that Dobby mentioned."
While Susan and Daphne puzzle out what Luna said, Luna herself opens the tome and turns to the spells section. Locating the "Reveal Invisible" spell, Luna taps the spell. Just as with Max, the triangle lights up, as do the absorb and area runes. Looking at the alignment runes, Luna taps the Ulyaoth rune. As the tome zooms out Luna points to the sigil on the wall. This causes a blue flash, causing the sigil to disappear, and the door to the Astronomy tower to reappear.

Jasmine stood to her feet as the door to the tower swung open. First through the door is Luna, who runs across the room and jumps into Jasmine's arms. Right behind her are Susan and Daphne, who look relieved that Jasmine is safe.
Luna clings to Jasmine. "Jasmine, are you ok? Who locked you up here?"
Jasmine pats Luna's back while hugging her. "I think it was a Bonethief that attacked and knocked me out. However, I don't know who brought me up here."
After scanning the room Daphne turns to Jasmine. "We should probbably get you out of here. Before who ever it was comes back."
Jasmine gentlly pulls free from Luna's grip, While Taking the tome from Luna. "Before leaving, I found something we need to check out."
The girls follow Jasmine as she walks over to the wall farthest from the door. Their eyes open wide as Jasmine slides a panel aside, revealing the same purple barrier they all saw in Lindsey's chapter.
Flipping open the tome, Jasmine searches for the "Dispel Magic" spell. Upon finding it she taps the spell. The triangle lights up, along with the Dispel and Area runes. Glancing at the rune next to the barrier, she taps the Ulyaoth alignment rune. After the tome zooms out, Jasmine points to the rune next to the barrier. With a flash the Chattur'gha rune fades away, causing the barrier to disappear.
Beyond the barrier is a hidden balcany. As the girls explore Susan finds an old cabinet. Opening it she crys out in surprise.
The other girls come running to see what Susan has found. They gather around Susan and are surprised at her discovery. For sitting in the cabinet is the next chapter page.

An: and that is it for now. This entire chapter breaks away from the Eternal Darkness game. In the game, you use the Dispel Magic on a stained-glass window on the second floor to find the chapter page. Since that is not possible at Hogwarts, I had the page placed on a balcony of the Astronomy tower. However, I thought it was time for Jasmine to rely on someone else. So I had her kidnapped at the start of the chapter.
Next time we and the girls head into chapter 7.
As always if you have a comment or questions leave me a review, or send me a PM. I hope you are enjoying the story, and I'll see you all next time.
