Leah awoke to the sun peeking through her blinds and looked at her clock. 7:21 a.m. Even on her days off she wasn't able to sleep in late. She grabbed her phone off the nightstand to check for messages and notifications. She had 2 texts; one from her best friend Sherry and one from her mom. Sherry texted her at 6:00 a.m. to ask her if their plans were still on for today and a good morning text from her mom, like she sends every morning. She and Sherry had plans to go out to lunch and catch up. Saturday was usually Sherry's only day off, she was busy working at the vet clinic as a veterinarian with her father and she had 2 kids to keep up with. Sherry was Leah's best friend since high school. Even after they went off to college they always kept in touch and Leah was thrilled when Sherry decided to work at her fathers vet clinic after graduation. Leah replied to Sherry's text and told her yes, she would see her at noon and she texted her mother back good morning. She couldn't wait to catch up with Sherry and tell her about Ethan's letter. But first, she had plans with her mom to go shopping. Roberta was going on a cruise with her husband in a week and wanted Leah to come help her pick out some dresses. Leah showered, put on her makeup, jeans and a t-shirt and walked out the door to meet her mother.

Leah met her mother at the mall and they shopped for 2 hours. They finished up and Leah told her mom that she had to go meet Sherry for lunch. They parted ways and Leah made her way to the restaurant they picked. She saw Sherry's car in the parking lot and parked beside her. Sherry hopped out her car and said hey to her friend and gave her a huge hug. They walked into the restaurant and were seated into a booth. "So, what's new with you, girl, besides work?" Sherry asked. Leah replied, "same ol, same ol. Work, home, bed and repeat. I've been busy picking up all this time I've been working 60 plus hours a week sometimes." "All work and no play makes Leah a dull girl", Sherry teased. "I know, I know." Leah replied. The waitress came by and took their drink and food orders. "So, you'll never guess who I got a letter from last night." Leah told her friend. "Who?" Sherry replied. "Ethan." said Leah Sherry's jaw dropped and she replied "NO? Oh my God?" "Yes." Leah said, pulling the envelope out of her purse. She handed it to Sherry to read. Sherry read it and said "Well, that's confusing. Wonder what's going on?" Then Sherry added "Do you think something happened with his wife? Like divorce or death? I mean they don't divorce in that culture, do they?" Leah replied "They don't divorce unless something really serious happens, they won't even split up if one partner cheats. They have to go in front of the entire church and confess it and stay together." Sherry replied, "really? That has to be so embarrassing for the person who was cheated on." Leah replied, "Yes, even if the guy gets another woman pregnant out of wedlock, they just have to admit it to the church and I think stay together or just shunned altogether." The waitress came with their meals and interrupted their conversation. Sherry took a bite of a French fry, "Do you think he's single now?" Leah replied, "it's a mystery. Should I write him back?" Sherry replied as she nibbled her food, "uh, yeah girl! Don't you want to know? But you know me, I am nosy and I have to know every little detail." Leah replied, "I don't even know what to say. What do you say after 2 decades after things ended the way they did?" "Honestly? Speak from your heart. Tell him how you feel." Leah didn't say anything and took a bite of her chicken sandwich. "I just had a thought. What if he wants to see you?" Sherry said. "I don't even know. Hell, Sherry what would I even say to him if we were face to face?" The two women finished up their lunch and walked to the parking lot. Sherry gave Leah a huge hug and told her to keep her updated and that she should totally write him today. They got into their separate cars and parted ways.

Leah pulled into her driveway later that evening after running errands all afternoon. She walked into her house and flipped on the lights and drew herself a bubble bath. She was all alone now and unwinding and her mind was unoccupied and wandering again. She scrolled through social media on her phone as she soaked in the bath. She couldn't help but roll her eyes when she scrolled past a post of her ex-husband and his flavor of the week. They had been divorced for well over a year now her ex-husband Michael never had trouble moving on. Michael Kameron was a doctor Leah met while she was still in nursing school. He owned a family practice and Leah thought he was her forever. He had other ideas. He always worked long hours, or so he said. He didn't cover his tracks very well & Leah found out about his unfaithfulness and initiated the separation the next day. He was the only other man she'd ever loved besides Ethan. Leah started dating a few months after the divorce but she never felt a spark with anyone. Leah got out of the bath and put on pajamas and her fluffy bathrobe. She walked into her home office and sat down at her desk. She grabbed her stationary and a pen and froze. She didn't know what to say. "Maybe I should sleep on it." she said to herself. She got up and turned the lights off and walked out her office upstairs to her bedroom. She climbed into bed & turned the on the tv and flipped through channels until she found a Lifetime movie to watch. She relaxed into her pillows & barely watched 20 minutes of the movie before she drifted off to sleep.
