"…So soft."

Emerald muttered to herself, gliding her hand across the smooth quilt of a double bed. In one the six, six! bedrooms in Daiki's home left to him by his parents.

He'd told her to pick whatever one she wanted, it was hers now. Her own room. It felt almost surreal.

Even after everything Daiki revealed to her, even after he kissed her! It still felt like a dream.

The room was huge. A double bed with a real proper and not all ratty mattress, a wardrobe, a bed side table, even a television mounted on the wall!

Even if she wanted to, she could never own her own apartment or house legitimately, she didn't have any legal ID. She was just some street rat dumped by her bum parents that she couldn't even remember at this point.

The most luxurious place she'd stayed in was the apartment of her 'ex', which was completely decrepit and the building had to be taken down not long ago because it was a building hazard. The mattress then had springs sticking out of it, and the walls were mouldy, the tap water was literally brown.

…Nothing that compared to this at all.

She was warm, her belly was full.

And she felt so clean. She'd had a bath. A full on legit, warm relaxing bath. Not wiping herself down in a public bathroom sink.

She was even wearing comfier clothes than the ragged gear she'd had on before. Albeit, it was just a large grey tank top and a pair of shorts lent to her by Daiki that would have fallen down already if she hadn't tied them as tightly as they could go.

"You know, you look pretty good in my clothes, it's kinda sexy." a voice spoke up from behind her.

Looking over her shoulder, Emerald found Daiki leaning on the entrance of the room, a scroll held in his grab and a big smile on his face, "How's the room?" he asked.

She smiled back almost instinctively, her heart jumping in her chest happily, "It's amazing, it almost feels like a dream." Emerald replied.

"Well, that's good," he chuckled and pushed off the door frame and walked over to her, "But don't settle for just this, like I said before, in the future I'll be stinking rich, so I'll let you enjoy the most luxurious places in the world all you want then."

…She'd be perfectly happy with just this, and him, but if that was what he wanted. "Alright," Emerald shrugged, before blinking as he held the scroll in his hand up to her, "What's this for?"

"You don't have a scroll right?" Daiki raised an eyebrow, and when she nodded he continued, "This is my moms old one, it's an older model for now but it'll work fine until we can get you a better one. I've scrubbed all her data so you can set it all up for yourself and do whatever you want with it."

"Wait…really?" Emerald's eyes went wide and she gasped, "For me?" she bit her lip as she felt moistness burn at the side of her eyes, before blinking it away.

"Yeah, of course, you'll need one so we can communicate, my number is already in it by the way," he nodded, "Also, the details for my bank account. You can go online and order clothes and stuff for yourself, I'd just take you shopping but I'm probably gonna be busy for the next few days."

On top of everything else, on top of giving her a place of her own, a scroll of her own, he was even letting her use his money to buy clothes? "Wait," she blinked, "What do you mean busy for the next few days?"

That was more important than her sappy emotions because he was spoiling her.

"I'm going to see about doing a mission or two to earn some extra cash, so I'll be gone for a few days," Daiki told her, "You can relax here while I'm away, and chill out for a bit."

No that was wrong.

"Aren't I supposed to help you?" she asked, eyebrows rising into her hairline, "That's my whole point of being here right? I can come, I can fight grimm."

She didn't doubt he would be fine on his own. Especially after he told her exactly what his Semblance could really do, and his plans with it, which were absolutely mind boggling…just like everything else about him.

But her place was to be at his side now, right?

"I don't doubt it," Daiki smiled at her, "But I don't think my clothes will do you well for going out to fight grimm." he said, amused, eyes taking her in form.

And his eyes lingering on the cleavage she was displaying in the gap at the top of the tank top.

"…I can just use my other stuff." she pointed out.

And she wasn't pouting.

"I tossed those rags out," Daiki snorted, "You deserve way better clothes than that, which is why you should stay here and order whatever you want to wear from this point on, you can spend up to a thousand lien."

….A thousand lien!? She'd never even held more than two hundred lien in her own two hands.

Her jaw dropped.

"…You're just trusting me to stay in this place alone, and giving me access to that money? While you go off alone?" Emerald couldn't help but ask.

"Well I wouldn't do it for just anyone, but you're the partner I chose for myself," Daiki told her straight up, "Every huntsman student at the main academies usually gets a partner of their own when they start there. I just picked my own in advance."

Her legs almost felt shaky. He was dropping too much bombs on her, she needed to get herself under control.

Her emotions were a whirl. She couldn't suppress a smile that split her face, and she was warm, and her heart was beating fast and tingly butterflies fluttered in her stomach.

…This kid…!

'His partner, huh?'

Emerald forced herself to swallow heavily, "…Okay," she agreed, and forced a smirk on her face, "So…ordering clothes huh? I suppose that maid uniform will be part of what I'm supposed to get?"

"Definitely," Daiki snorted in agreement, eagerly nodding his head and his gleaming with excitement, "That, and you should get yourself some gear that'll do in combat too if you wanna follow me into a fight later."

"…Still feels weird that you're just letting me stay here while you're away, but alright, if that's what you want," Emerald sighed in defeat, then gave him a little grin, "So maid outfit then? I know you said thigh thighs and pleated skirt, but anything else you want?"

She wasn't an idiot and knew full well what was going to happening going forward. Especially when she got that maid outfit. He was going to fuck her. A lot.

She wasn't at all averse to it.

In fact, part of Emerald wished instead of heading out, he would stay and take her right here and now. Fuck her until her eyes rolled up into the back of her head and she cried his name to the skies above.

…And then, maybe even cuddle with her? She'd never been properly cuddled before. She could almost still feel it, the warmth of his hand on her chin, his lips against hers.

She had no idea she could even feel like this, but Emerald found herself wanting it. To be bedded silly by this kid, no Daiki and then all asleep in his strong, warm arms.

"Make it lacy?" he suggested, and then his grin returned, "Actually get yourself a nice little bikini while you're at it."

…Well she'd obviously need to get underwear as well, she didn't have any. So, she could get that then as well.

"Alright," Emerald agreed with a smile, "Anything else? Maybe want me to call you master?"

"Maybe once you get the maid outfit," he fired back, before pausing and tapping his chin, "Actually, there is one thing, Do you know anybody that would be able to get me a ton of used up lightning dust crystals? Or know anybody that wants to buy them for cheaper prices?"

Something for her to do for him?

"I can think of a few that might, and if they don't I'll find out any others." Emerald promised, jumping on board immediately.

Off the top of her head she knew there was a junkyard where a lot of people went to dump used up dust crystals, amongst other trash.

"If you can, that'll be great! It'll speed things up massively!" he beamed, before suddenly sweeping her up into a massive hug.

"Daiki!" Emerald gasped, before giggling.

So…warm.

Yeah, this was where she belonged now.

'You're fucked Cinder.'

And not in the good way.

There was a massive smug grin on Daiki's face as he walked down the streets of Vale, twenty minutes after leaving his home behind.

He had really played with fire there…but it definitely worked out. In fact, it had worked out better than he could have ever even imagined.

Was it manipulative and scummy of him using his knowledge of Emerald and her desperation and longing for someone to care for her? A place to belong? Someone to love her?

Definitely.

But he was okay with that, and he was sure Emerald would be too. Even if her gobsmacked, and undeniable pure happiness at everything he dropped on her for a bit there was so radiant she couldn't hide it.

It had been a calculated move. Revealing not only his plans, but dark shit he wanted to accomplish in regards to Adam. Emerald had a thing against goody goodies who'd never had it rough. Revealing what he'd went through and the deaths of his parents, showed he wasn't like that, and his plans for Adam, told her he wasn't some naive hero wannabe like Ruby.

Or an idiot like Xiao Long.

Maybe that made him no better than Cinder really, taking advantage of her like this. But he didn't care, it was for her own benefit. And it wasn't like he didn't feel anything for the older girl.

Emerald was gorgeous, she was competent, she had a busted semblance, and she was so eager to prove herself. But personality wise, at her base, she was also sassy as fuck and could strut with the best of them.

Emerald was one of his favourites before he ended up here, and only ranked lower than others because of her simping for a piece of trash like Cinder. 'She ain't Cinder's Emerald anymore, she's mine.' he laughed to himself.

She was one of the most valuable existences in this entire world at the moment, and she was his. He might not love her, but that didn't mean he didn't like her or was already quite fond of her.

Or lust like hell after her.

It had taken all his self control not to push anything with her before he left. He could probably get her into bed easily. But no, too fast could spoil trust.

So he forced himself not to.

He'd hold back for now.

'Besides, not only is Cinder fucked without her, it'll be all the more sweet when I get back.' Daiki hummed to himself as he arrived at his destination and stepped into the mission building.

After all, thanks to her aura and her being able to eat as she pleased, Emerald would fill back out and get back to a healthy weight and lose the slight gauntness she had in just a few days.

Aura was amazing like that, and enhanced the rate at which the positive aspects of the body worked. And a bunch of other things.

There was a reason many huntsmen and huntresses and such tended to be very tall around here.

As Daiki's eyes drifted over to the holographic mission boards in the middle of the room, he paused, blinking as his eyes landed on something.

Or rather someone.

A tall scraggly looking blonde dressed in blue jeans, a hoodie and with a set of simple armour over his chest, a blade sheathed at his hip.

'What the fuck is Jaune Arc doing here?' Daiki stopped and stared, bemused.

For a moment, Daiki just stared, bemused. He was not at all expecting to find this guy here. He eyed him up and down, taking in his build, armour and weaponry.

He was naturally tall, and he had somewhat broad shoulders, and he wasn't thin or lanky. A good strong natural build to be perfectly honest, but that wasll. There was little training at all in that build.

His stance, his casual stance was awkward. As if he didn't know his place, shoulders dipped, on the backfoot, fingers threaded as he looked around. Not like Ruby who, while an awkward girl at the best of times, had a sure stance, shoulders back, level headed, sure footed.

Huntsmen and huntresses in general were like that. It was a surety that came with strength. In knowing, that you existed within the top percentage of humanity.

'I could kill him before he even knew what was happening.' Daiki idly mused. Usually, he would not be so murderous. And honestly, it wasn't like he even disliked Jaune Arc at all.

It was just an instinctive thought born of the knowledge he had of the boy, and his semblance.

Aura Amplification.

One of the most overpowered abilities anyone in this world had. In the hands of someone who actually knew what they were doing, like say…himself. Someone could wipe out entire armies of grimm with one swing of a sword.

It didn't just amplify aura. It amplified its effects and semblances. That meant, the healing power of aura, strengthened to full on regeneration able to heal a fatal stab wound to the organ in less than a minute. It meant, that even the recovery rate of aura itself could be amplified, and one could recover their aura from basically zero in seconds.

If Jaune Arc was trained in proper aura manipulation, like forming energy blades with aura, he may as well start screaming Getsuga Tenshou or Excalibur, because that was the kind of absurd destructive ability he could unleash.

And he may as well be called fucking Kenpachi for all the damage people would be able to deal to him if he amplified the shielding properties of aura.

Aura Amplification, was absurdly fucking broken.

'If I took it, considering the scale, I could probably create a city destroying thunder storm.' Daiki thought absently, and considering his control, he could make pin point lightning bolts all over a city, easily capable of wiping out tens of thousands. Hell, with electro magnetism, he could lob sky scrapers as if they were paper weights he was sure.

He stared at the blonde nervously and anxiously looking over the mission boards, before sighing, 'But no, I'm not that kind of guy.' he thought, a little sad he wasn't a murderous cunt like Adam.

It would make things a lot simpler.

He shook his head, 'I'll get there anyway.' he dismissed it. If what he predicted about him absorbing a grimm was right, he wouldn't need to worry about amplifying his aura.

He'd have plenty in the future.

….Though.

That didn't mean he could go and endear himself to someone with such a powerful semblance in the making. 'It's always good to have friends.' Daiki grinned, making his way over to the nervous out of place blonde, "Hey there, you're looking a bit out of place."

Jaune jumped, eyes widened as he was startled, and would have flopped over a chair beside him, if Daiki didn't reach out and steady him, "Who me?" Jaune forcefully laughed and puffed his chest out, "Nah, course not I'm right at home here and…"

He trailed off, faltering as he noticed Daiki just giving him a raised brow. The taller blonde's shoulders slumped, "That obvious huh?" he asked with a sigh of defeat.

"Yeah," Daiki let him go, before tapping his chest plate armour with the back of his knuckles, "Your doesn't cover enough for how restrictive it is. It's civilian tier armour, and anyone properly trained as a huntsman could tell by looking at you…that well, you're not huntsman trained." he trailed off a little himself trying to not insult him, but he only succeeded in making the blonde slump a little more.

"You guys can tell at just a glance?" he whined, pouting, "That's totally cheating. How the heck am I gonna get into beacon?"

Hey there tiger, better watch what you say, you are blurting a little too much there.

"Train your ass off?" Daiki offered. He glanced at the holographic mission board, finding an easy one. A small group of beowolf hounding a village, that had already picked off a few people. He pointed at it, "You've got a decent build, and as long as you have your aura unlocked dealing with a small group of beowolves shouldn't be a too hard even for somebody untrained. Take some missions like this over the next few months before the entrance exams, get used to fighting grimm and abuse your aura at a gym every day and just focus on building up your body as much as possible. You're not gonna get to the point where you'll be top of the class or anything from that, but as long as you aren't a pussy, you should be able to pass the entrance exam."

"Huh?" Jaune stared at him like he grew a second head, "Aura? Entrance exam? There's a beacon entrance exam? I thought you could only get in through going to a combat school or stuff like that."

'Then how did you think you were going to get in at all?' Daiki resisted the urge to roll his eyes and point out. He already knew after all.

Daiki just gave the boy a put upon bemused look, and held his hand up. The glow of his aura crackled into existence around his arm, "This is aura, you know the power all huntsman have? That you need to have unlocked to become a huntsman?" he explained, wiggling his glowing arm, "The power of our soul. It shields us from damage and heals us?"

Jaune's jaw dropped, "Huntsmen have force fields?!"

"Dude…don't tell me you were trying to be a huntsman without aura, you'd get slaughtered," he made a show of shaking his head, and then pressed his palm flat against his armoured chest, "I'm gonna do you a real favour and unlock your aura alright?"

"Huh? You are?" poor Jaune looked lost.

Well, Daiki was speed running his route in the place of Pyrrha. He had things to do, places to be, money to make after all.

He spread his aura out through his fingers, pushing it into Jaune's body, reaching deep into his essence, "For it is in passing that we achieve immortality. Through this, we become a paragon of virtue and glory to rise above all. Infinite in distance and unbound by death, I release your soul, and by my shoulder, protect thee!" he chanted, and as he finished, he turned the key metaphorically in the door to Jaune's aura, and his eyes widened as blinding white rushed forth.

'Damn.' Daiki resisted the urge to whistle as he pulled back, and looked at Jaune, who was staring at himself in a stupefied awe, and the bright white glow surrounding his body.

As expected of the paladin build.

…Still.

'Holy shit, he has more than ten times the amount of aura I do.' he thought. Talk about stupid fucking good genes. With that amount of aura and aura amplification as a semblance, Daiki thought he would have literally been unstoppable at this point.

Seriously, this dude had more than ten times the amount of aura Daiki did, without ever training it. That was the amount he was born with then.

If he was trained with it from a young age in the same vein as Daiki himself, Jaune would most likely have easily fifty times the amount of aura Daiki himself had.

…Or would at least if he was trained in the same vein as Daiki himself. So maybe not, cuz Daiki loved the grind and the grind loved him.

"Damn dude, that's a shit ton of aura," Daiki laughed aloud, before nodding, "Yeah, you can definitely pass the beacon entrance exam if you get some experience fighting grimm and bust your ass hard at the gym. With that amount of aura, you could probably tank your way through it right now actually."

"Wow…so this is aura…" Jaune uttered in awe, before looking at Daiki, "Thank you…" he trailed off, "Ah…you just did so much for me, and I don't even know your name."

"It's Daiki," he introduced himself, patting him on the shoulder, "And don't worry about it. What kind of huntsmen in training would I be, if I wasn't hilling to help others?"

Jaune grinned, "You're cool," he blurted, "I'm Jaune, Jaune Arc. It's short, sweet and the ladies love it."

"Pretty sure the ladies prefer long and thick actually." Daiki responded, making the blonde burst out laughing.

"So Daiki, will I be seeing you at Beacon then?" he asked, "and what did you mean by an entrance exam?"

"Just apply on Beacon's website, there should be an option for those that didn't go to combat schools," Daiki explained, "The entrance exam is simple, you just have to prove your fighting ability by fighting a few combat droid, three of them at once. They're Atlesian Knight 130's. Strong enough to handle a small group of beowolves, but with that absurd amount of aura, you could handle it I'm sure."

"….Huh…" Jaune stared at him, mouth dropping. Daiki wasn't sure what was going on in his head right now, but he bet it changed how he approached things going forward.

Beacon's standards honestly, weren't all that high. He could have passed their entrance exam when he was ten. Cardin Winchester and his entire team in the original timeline, couldn't handle a single Ursa Major together after a good month into their tenure at Beacon Academy and fled.

Sure, one of them in his experience, could handle over ten normal beowolves at once, but still.

"As for seeing me there, unlikely," Daiki continued, "I could easily pass the entrance exam for sure if I was allowed, but I'm only fourteen."

And honestly, he wasn't sure he would even want to go even if he was invited early like Ruby had been in the original timeline. The plot centred around Beacon yeah, but he could do so much more outside of it.

He'd rather shore up his trump cards and let Beacon fall, than weaken his position by wasting time there.

"Wait, you're only fourteen?!" Jaune's eyes, taking in Daiki's height, only a few inches shorter than Jaune himself who was if Daiki remembered right, six foot, two inches tall, and his much broader build, "I thought you were my age or maybe an upper classman!"

"i'll take that as a compliment, but no," Daiki pat his shoulder, "Anyway, nice meeting you Jaune, try and take my advice. I need to get a move on, I've got missions to take myself, gotta make a living somehow right?"

"…At fourteen?" Jaune gave him an odd look and shrugging, "Well, thanks a lot Daiki, for everything you've no idea how grateful I am."

"Don't worry about it." Daiki waved him off.

He picked out a mission from the same board as Jaune was looking at, or rather four in the same general vicinity, and left absurdly cool and mysterious like.

Like the uber badass he was.

He had a bullhead to catch. There was a dedicated bullhead service open to those taking missions here, and for a small cut, you could be flown to the general area and picked up.

'These should only take a few days.' he mused. A horde of creep that had infested a power plant station, which would net him eight hundred lien. A large group of beowolf that had overrun and destroyed a small village that would see him a further one thousand, four hundred lien. And the last, surprise surprise, a group of Ursa led by an Ursa Major roaming Forever Fall forest that was impeding a local Vale brewery that refined the saps from the trees into alcohol.

He never noticed as he left, a tall woman sitting a bit behind where he and Jaune had been, completely hidden by a thick hoodie with the hood up, and sunglasses, most of her face hidden, beyond a vibrant strand of red hair dangling from her forehead.
