I tried to make a small twist, so that Wesker and Chris have a moment, but I'm not sure I pulled it off.

Even a Monster Deserves Love Chapter 6

February 18th 1997

"Everyone remember. This group is dangerous. At this time, we don't know where they are, expect they are somewhere in this part of the city." Wesker tells his team.

STARS Alpha team was tracking down a gun smuggling ring. They were able to narrow it down to the east side of the city, in a better days neighborhood, but have no idea, where they were. Thus Wesker said, they will be doing reconnaissance for the time being.

"Now, we are only going to locate where they are. Bravo team will be here in a couple of hours, so that there is a better chance at getting them, without casualties. Be it us or with anyone else." Wesker reminds them.

"Must we spilt up?" Brad asks, trying to speak steady.

"It's the quickest way to find them. Again, we are not to engage. One of us finds them, gets back here to base, and reports. They are too dangerous for us to tackle, by ourselves." Wesker tells them all, sternly.

"Yes, sir." the team replies.

They were using an old building nearby the neighborhood, one that they made sure that the gang haven't been using.

"All right. Move out." Wesker orders and they file out. They were heading to buildings that they were to investigate, each one had a set of two buildings, to look through.

Wesker heads to the buildings he was to start searching. He uses his binoculars, to see it he can't see anyone on the roof or the windows. There is no one there. He then moves in on the first building. He stays out of the way of windows, getting closer the door. He makes sure he can't be spotted before heading in.

He quietly moves, listening for any noise, relating to humans and watching his back. He moves along the first floor but finds nothing.

He then creped up the stairs to the second floor, looking around before continuing. He reaches the top step, before looking around.

He doesn't find anything in the first few rooms, but in the last one, he finds beer cans and take out bags, with a tv.

'I need a little more proof.' Wesker continues his search, to make sure that this was the place for the gang and not some homeless person living here.

He heads up the last set of stairs, being just a cautious as before. He doesn't find anyone, but see sleeping bags and a tv in one room. In another room, he finds creates filled with illegal weapons.

'This is the place.' Wesker has the proof he needs, but doesn't touch anything.

'I better leave.' Wesker knew that if they were out, they would be back at anytime. He gets back down to the first floor, straining his ears for human made noise as he moves.

Just as he gets to the first floor, there was a noise coming from the back. Wesker quickly hides in a closet as footsteps come closer.

".. yeah, I know." a man said.

"Don't tell me 'I know'." another says, "We have to move by tomorrow. Word on the street is, that the cops are closing in on us."

"He's right. The truck will be here first thing in the morning. Along with the rest of the gang." another said, as they go past the closet where Wesker is.

"All right, all right. I'll have everything picked up, but you need to help me with the weapon boxes." the first voice speaks.

"Of course.." the voices trail off as they head upstairs.

Wesker strains to hear them, he wants them to be as far away as possible. After a moment, he is sure they are on either the first of second floor.

He opens the door quietly and heads out the same way he came in. Back outside, he dodges the windows, just in case they were watching, before reaching the line of safety.

'Back to-' Wesker never finished his thought, before a voice speaks, "Stop."

Wesker turns but was too late as an object hits him in the head, knocking him out.

Wesker groans as he wakes up, feeling a headache. He tries to move his arms but can't. He then realizes they were tied.

Immediately, though his head pounded, he remembers what happened. Someone stopped him and hit him, on his temple.

He opens his eyes and sees his sunglasses were missing. 'I'll have to replace them.'

He looks down to see he's in a chair, his hands were tied behind him, the ropes were weaved with the back post. He tries to move his legs but finds they are tied to the leg posts.

"Hey, he's awake." someone said, making him look up. He sees five men in the room with him.

"I am Captain Albert Wesker of the STARS. My team is already on the way here." Wesker said. '..Something feels off. I was sure there were only three men as I left the building. Even if they saw me, they would have to come down the stairs.. was one of them still outside?'

"Hah! Yeah, right! My buddy saw you come out of the building where those guys selling underground weapons are hiding. If they are on the way, it would be there." the man, clearly the leader, said.

'These men aren't of the gun smugglers.' Wesker realizes, they are a different group.

"If you aren't apart of them, then why have you kidnapped me?" he demands.

The one closet to him, punches him, in the cheek. Wesker gives him a silent snarl. "You better watch yourself. We're the ones in charge." the one who punched him said.

"As to your question." the leader states, ignoring what happened, "We took you, so that you're team will back off."

"From the illegal weapons? You must be joking." Wesker said, unimpressed. The leader nods to the man closet to him and he is punched again.

Wesker holds back a grunt of pain. He glares at the leader, who smirks. "Best watch you're tongue. We want STARS to back off, not just for them, but for us. Surely you're aware of the heroin drug at Raccoon City University?" he asks.

Wesker heard of that case, the police in the west office were working on. A student had gone to the hospital after having too heroin in his system. He reported he found it in his friends' bag and assumed it was cocaine.

The other student was brought in and was interrogated. He confessed he bought the heroin off a group who had been approaching students off campus.

If the drug dealers are nearby, then to make sure they have all the gun smuggling gang, the police would help search the area.

'That's why they want STARS to back off.' Wesker knew that if all the gun smuggling gang wasn't all caught, then they and the police might find the drug dealers or the drugs, as they were searching.

"Now here." the leader said, holding his radio, "You are going to tell your group, that you've found nothing. Then as they report in, you tell them that the info was wrong and to return to the station. Don't worry about yourself, we don't want a man hunt on us by killing you. We'll release you somewhere in town, after we get our drugs out of here."

"I will not." Wesker says, looking around with his eyes. He was trying to find something.

'There. That building.' Wesker then sees an abandoned store, with a moon symbol on it in the background. He is punched again, by the man next to him.

"Yes, you will or.." the man said, bringing out his knife.

"Fine." Wesker holds back a snarl. The leader comes up to him and turns on the radio, where a voice is heard, "Captain Wesker?! Where are you?! Over!"

"Calm yourself Christine. I apologize for not getting in touch sooner, but I had wanted to check on something. Over." Wesker says, calmly.

"But, you said as soon as we were done with our search, we were to report in. That was three hours ago. Over." Chris said.

"I know, but I had to check on something. Anyways, I haven't found anything. Did you find anything as to where the criminals are hiding? Over." Wesker asks.

".. No, sir. None of us found anything in the buildings we searched. Did you find anything?" Chris asks.

"No. It would appear that the information was incorrect. The smugglers are not in this part if town. Take our gear and the van, back to the police department." Wesker instructs her.

"What about you?" she asks.

"I'll meet up with you at the station, by the time the moon comes out." Wesker said.

"Can you be more specific? What are we to tell Irons?" she asks.

"Tell him I'll be in, when the moon is three quarters full." he said.

"All right, sir. See you tonight." Chris said, before she disconnects.

"Good." the leader says, taking the radio away.

'They better figure it out.' Wesker waits as to what will happen.

As Chris disconnects the radio, she turns to the others. "Something is wrong." she said, and the others nod.

"Yeah. He used the word 'anyways'. That doesn't sound like a word he uses." Joseph said.

"It's not. His way of talking, is with clip and often elaborate words or speech." Jill said.

"Maybe he got captured." Brad says, "He discarded protocol, which is not like him. And he gave an odd time, in which he'll be back at the station."

"I don't think it's time." Jill says, "The moon tonight will be at a little over a half quarter, not enough to be three quarters."

"Wesker would know the phases of the moon... what if it's not the moon? The planet one?" Chris asks.

"If I remember right, I saw a shop with a moon on it. It had the phase of the moon that Wesker said." Barry said.

"Barry, we have to-" Chris tries to speak, but he interrupts her.

"Chris, I'm sorry, but we can't go after him now." Barry said.

Chris looked about to argue, Barry speaks again, "Chris, yes he's our comrade and captain. Unfortunately, we only have a vague idea where he is. There are buildings nearby the place, but we'll be spotted for sure, if it takes too long. Not to mention, the smugglers, may become aware we're here. As far as we know, they don't know that we found them."

"Barry's right. Bravo team will be here at any time, then we'll talk to Enrico, about the situation." Jill puts her hand on Chris' shoulders.

Chris was not happy, but nods her head.

Bravo team shows up fifteen minutes later and they quickly explain to Enrico what happened. After they tell him, Chris speaks, "Enrico, please let us go rescue him."

Enrico was thinking over everything they had told him. "We can't have all of you going. If a big group moves, then the criminals will become aware something is amiss. We may have the gun smugglers location, but we don't know where Wesker is being held." he said.

"Then let me go after him." Chris pleads.

"Chris, we need to plan this carefully." Enrico said.

"One person will have a better chance at not being spotted right? Those people have to believe, we have pulled out. They won't have their guards up. Let me go." Chris asks him again.

Enrico sighs as he sees how determined Chris was about this. 'If I don't, she'll probably just go after him, regardless... We can't leave Wesker, but I need every hand we got for the gunmen.'

A knock comes from the door, and everyone looks as Marvin comes in. "Reinforcements are nearby. Where's Wesker?" he asks, looking around.

"A third party of some kind is nearby. They captured him." Enrico tells him. 'Wait.. This can work.'

"Branagh, who is the best shot, that came with you?" Enrico then asks.

Marvin answers, "Kevin Ryman is the best shot of the police. He's waiting with the reinforcements."

"Go get him. I would like you two to accompany Chris to save Wesker... Grab two more of your boys and be discreet." Enrico said.

"Um.." Brad said, gaining attention, "She's gone."

They look and see he's right. "Damn it! Branagh, go get him before trouble starts!" Enrico orders. Marvin quickly left to get Kevin.

With Chris, she had left for she was tired of waiting for a plan, when her angel was in trouble. She finds the old store with the moon symbol after a few minutes of searching.

'If Wesker saw that, he had to have seen it from somewhere.' Chris looks up at the building, staying out of sight of the buildings.

She then stares at the building that was right across from the shop. 'There. I got a hunch that's where they are. The window is on the second floor. That has to be where he is.'

She then moves stealthy to the door, removing her gun from her holster. She moves in quietly, listening for the group that captured Wesker. She hears something upstairs and moves in that direction.

She climbs the stairs as someone yells, "Keep you're yap shut!"

She then hears a punch, moving a little more faster to where it was coming from. She comes up to a door, where behind it, the noise is.

Another punch is heard before she slowly opens the door. "You have a big mouth on you. Anyone tell you that?" a man, angrily asks.

"Coming from the one who started beating on a tied up man." Wesker growls.

"I hate cops. I won't kill you, I'm not that desperate for a man hunt." the man said.

"So, you're just taking frustrations out on me? Because I'm a cop?" Wesker asks, rhetorically.

The man punches Wesker again, not noticing Chris was coming from behind him. "You better shut up, before I actu-" the man never finished his sentence as he felt a gun against his back.

"Back off, bastard." Chris growls at him.

"Christine?" Wesker asks, sounding low and in pain.

"I'm here captain." Chris says. She brings out her hand cuffs and grabs the man's hands.

"You're under arrest." she said, bringing the man over to a table and cuffing his hand there. She makes sure he has no weapons before getting back to Wesker.

"Are you all right?" Chris asks as she unties him.

"I've been better... Did you come alone?" Wesker asks, as she unties his legs.

"Yes." Chris said, making Wesker give her a look. As much as he could. His left eye was swollen.

"Christine.. You left before permission was granted, Marini would not have let you go by yourself." Wesker said, sternly. 'She still doesn't follow all orders.'

Chris unties his arms. "I know I'll get the book for this, but I couldn't leave you!" she said, defending herself.

Wesker is freed from the chair, he slowly gets up. "Christine, while I'm grateful that you came to help, orders are to be followed. You had better hope that the gun smugglers didn't see you." he said.

"I took a route that was away from where they were hiding." Chris assures him.

A noise is heard from downstairs, startling the three people in the room. "Hey! Get up here!" the man who Chris arrested shouts.

Footsteps are heard. Both Wesker and Chris get to the man's side as the door is flung open. "What's-The hell?!" a man shouts upon seeing Chris and Wesker free.

They whip out their guns and point them at them, who in turn points their guns on them. "You're with STARS?! I thought you pulled out!" the man who was the leader said.

"We did, but I thought it was strange Wesker didn't come back. So, I went looking for him." Chris said, calmly.

"Well, listen here bitch. You're leader is down, he is barely holding unto his gun. Since you've come alone, we'll give you a chance to surrender." the leader said.

"We have you're friend." Chris said, knowing that the man was right about Wesker. She had seen him stumble over to the man she captured.

"We have you outnumbered. Look, we won't kill you if we don't have to. Manhunts are a pain to avoid, but we will kill you and you're captain, if you resist us." the leader says.

'Maybe I should've waited for Enrico to come up with something.' Chris thinks. She knew that Wesker was barely staying awake, due to the pounding the man gave him.

Then a voice speaks, from behind the group of men, "Drop your weapons. Hand up."

The men who were free, freeze. "Branagh!" Chris said, happily.

"I suggest you surrender. We now have you out numbered." Branagh said, holding his gun. He had brought Kevin and a couple of others, after Chris took off.

The men put down their guns, they are put in cuffs and are given their rights. Wesker then feels what energy he had disappear.

He falls, Chris turns in time to catch him. "Christine.." Wesker gets out. 'I don't want to be seen like this.'

"It's ok Wesker. You've done enough. STARS will take care of the rest." Chris encourages him to rest.

Wesker's eyes darken until he knew no more.

When Wesker awakens, he finds himself in a hospital. 'Great.' he thinks, not happy.

Feeling a weight on the bed, he turns to find Christine sleeping. Her face was buried in her arms as she leans on the bed. He then looks out the window and sees stars iin the night sky.

A nurse then walks in, gaining his attention. "I see you are awake, Mr. Wesker." she said, checking his iv.

"Yes, when am I allowed to leave?" he asks, already wanting to leave.

"Mr. Wesker, calm yourself. The doctor will have to look you over, before that can be determined." she said, reminding him of hospital protocols.

She then checks his face. 'She's right. I may not want to be here, but they have their own duties.' he thinks unhappily.

"Any irritation?" his nurse asks.

"A little, but that should be expected." he said.

"Yes, by the way, this young woman here, is a wonderful person." she then talks about Christine, after she was done checking him.

"What did she do?" he asks, curious.

"She was looking you over constantly. Making sure you were all right, asking you're doctor for updates, making sure you were comfortable. She insisted on bringing in real food and did so, the bag is over there, in the chair." the nurse said.

He looks over at the chair by Christine and sees the bag of food.

"She even insisted on staying the night, just in case you needed something. From what I over heard, she saved your life. Be sure to thank her in the morning." the nurse said, updating his chart.

"I will..." Wesker tails off. The nurse finishes with him, before leaving. He then looks back at Christine.

She moves a bit, and she murmurs, "Angel.."

'Angel.. Christine, if you only knew... though considering what happened, I wonder if you're my angel?... She means nothing.' Wesker reminds himself.

'I'll call Will in the morning.' Wesker thinks before he goes back to sleep.

Tell me what you think.

To artists, if you're not going to review, then don't bother. I've had enough of you marketing yourselves in reviews. An actual review is better.

Not to mention, I'm not doing commissions or anything of the sort, at this time.
