It was now Winter Break on there first year at Duel Academy. Right now in the Slifer dorm, Jaden was dueling Syrus with Emily, Chumley, and Makoto were with Professor Banner on cooking, and eating Marshmallows while watching the duel.
"Remind me again why I have to stay here over winter break again?" Makoto frowned turning to Professor Banner.
"All of your Ra Yellow classmates all left, and you have no-where else to head into." Professor Banner answered.
Makoto sighed at that before turning to the duel. "Who's winning anyway?"
"Okay Jaden my draw." Syrus drew looking "And I will-"
CRASH!
"Huh you alright?" Emily asked worried as they all headed over.
As the Obelisk Blue gotten up seeing him really pale Jaden remarked, "You look like you've seen a ghost."
"I have!" the Obelisk Blue told them.
"Wait I recognize you, you're Torrey you were in my para-dueling class." Professor Banner realized.
"Yes, that's right Professor Banner!" Torrey cried to him frightened while grabbing his shirts looking terrified, "And everything you said was right! About Duel Spirits being real, it's all true!"
Banner knelled to him, "Hey calm down. Take a deep breath, and tell us what's going on."
Torrey nodded before taking a deep breath as he explained, "A while back, I told some of my friends about your classes that under certain conditions Duel Spirits can come to life. Well we started trying to create those conditions... Even though we knew the Academy forbids it."
"Torrey, what did you do?" Banner asked him.
"We try to do it a couple of times, and nothing ever happened, until yesterday. Maybe it's because we use our bed-sheets as cloaks or took Dr. Crowler's Bath Candles." Torrey answered, "But this time something was different. See we all put our hands on a mystic box, and said the chant, and it happened! Then the mystic box spelled out: 'Give me three, and I'll be free'. We thought he meant cards."
"Oh dear me no. A Duel Monster's appetite will never be instantiated by mere cards." Banner said now worried, "This is just awful."
"What Duel Spirit are you talking about?" Chumley asked confused.
Torrey answered by saying 1 name:
"Jinzo."
Makoto's eyes widened. "What did you just say?"
"Jinzo! That's the name of who's looking for me right now!" Torrey answered frightened to the bone.
"Torrey, what happened to your friends? Are you sure they didn't just go home for the break?" Banner inquired.
"No. I looked everywhere, but it's liked they vanished into thin air. I called their parents, and they didn't know where they were." Torrey answered, "Before we knew better we agreed, and their gone. There is 1, then 2, and I know it's just going to be me next! I doubt they could make it anyway. I tried to leave the island, but couldn't you see once I got to the ferry... There HE was waiting for me! There's no escape!"
The moment he said that the lights cut out.
"A blackout?" Syrus panicked.
"Easy Syrus. It was probably just a fuse." Banner told him.
"Or maybe a dead bulb." Chumley added.
"Or maybe... It was me!"
Hearing a hollow raspy voice everyone turned to see a cloaked man covering his entire body was holding Torrey's unconscious form with one arm, and has goggles under his hat.
"Torrey, give him back!" Jaden cried.
"We have a deal." the man they know is Jinzo told him as he began to run into the forest with Torrey.
"Get back here!" Jaden cried running after him as the others all followed them.
They ran off following Jinzo chasing him in the forest before they stopped looking around losing him.
"Darn it, where is he?" Jaden questioned looking around.
"He's a spirit and faster than we are Jaden, it would take a miracle to find him now." Professor Banner frowned only for Emily's eyes to widen.
"Wheeler? Wheeler can you hear me?" she called.
"Emily?" Makoto asked hearing that.
Hearing a rustling they geared before what popped out was Wheeler who made monkey noises jumping on Emily's back. Emily blinked before smiling only to frown. "Wheeler, did you see a scary man carrying someone through the forest?"
Wheeler at that said from his helmet, "Scary disturbance. That way." From her back, Wheeler pointed to a location at there right.
"That must be him, come on." Jaden mentioned running to the location Wheeler pointed.
They ran to follow him as Chumley groaned, "Oh why does Spirits always go where it's spookiest?"
They arrived at what looks like an electrical power plant as they see Torrey's body a few feet away from them.
"There he is!" Syrus cried.
"Don't worry, we're coming." Jaden said quickly.
"Jaden hold on!" Chumley cried as Jaden ran over only to be stopped by a spark of lightning near him where he stood back as something starts to materialized in front of them.
When it finished who laughed was Jinzo in all his glory with the electricity maintaining a white transparent physical form.
"Jinzo." Makoto whispered in awe seeing him.
"None of you are safe!"
Syrus stepped back scared from seeing Jinzo for real in front of them. "Professor Banner how's Jinzo appearing like that?"
"The electricity! He's using it to power himself up! He's a clever one." was the teacher's worried answer.
"Let Torrey go Jinzo! If you need a third sacrifice so bad then..." Jaden started before then declaring, "Then just take me instead! You hear that Jinzo!? Take me!"
"Jaden!" Emily cried in horror.
"You do emit more mortality then this human." Jinzo admitted feeling Jaden is special then he realizes. "I'll take you up on your offer."
"Fine on one condition though." Jaden set a term for Jinzo before then. "You, and I duel! If you win you take my Life Energy! And I win you give back the other two you took!"
"A Duel? Very well. I should be able to sustain by this electrical loop long enough for a match." Jinzo agrees as lightning crackled around them before smirking maliciously, "First I beat you, then consume you!"
"Hold it right there." Makoto told them stepping in front of Jaden. "Take his life force if you want but I'm the one who's going to duel you Jinzo."
"Hey Makoto!" Jaden said surprised from the Ra Yellow in front of him.
"You..." Jinzo recognizes him quite easily. "Makoto Inotsume, the last remaining member of the Jinzo Art."
"You know me?" Makoto asked hearing that. "Then you understand why I need to be the one to duel against you."
"Well this should be interesting, the student going up against the namesake monster of the Dueling Style. But let me warn you, that I don't exactly follow the same rules your Style does." Jinzo said to him with a smirk.
Makoto blinked hearing that before nodding. "I understand."
"Hey you guys think Makoto can handle Jinzo?" Chumley asked. He then said to them, "Well, I mean, Makoto knows the ins, and outs of Jinzo, but Jinzo himself pretty much knows that, and will know what to do."
"We just have to trust him on this." Professor Banner told them.
With that the night duel between Duel Spirit, and Jinzo student started.
"DUEL!"

"So who begins?" Jinzo asked.
"You can take the first turn." Makoto answered.

"Very well." Jinzo said as five cards face-down appeared behind him before one of them materialized in front of him, "First, I summon Malice Doll of Demise in Attack Position."
At that a doll of a boy wielding a large two handed axe rose up from an electrical portal.

'That's not a card in the Jinzo Art, but it could be used as a sacrifice.' Makoto thought. "Alright, a fair start."
"Well it gets interesting with the Continuous Spell, Ectoplasmer." Jinzo added as a Continuous Spell showing a monster with energy exiting it appeared.

From there Malice Doll fell limp as a soul flew out, and charged at Makoto.
Makoto's eyes widened as he was struck.

Makoto drew his card and smirked. "First, since you have more spell and trap cards than I do I'm allowed to summon Psychic Megacyber to my field."

At that what rose up was a copy of Jinzo in a physical state.

Jinzo charged a blast firing it at his transparent counterpart. While Jinzo was transparent he still felt pain as evident by his screaming. (Jinzo: 3400/Hand: 3)
"Now, I sacrifice Jinzo." Makoto smirked holding up a card while Jinzo on his field roared while glowing yellow bright. "In order to call forth the ultimate monster of the Jinzo-Art. I call Jinzo - Lord to the field in Attack Position!"
What rose was Jinzo in a new form in the form of a purple prisoner's jacket same as ones in a mental hospital with the belts flowing around like tentacles.

Jinzo - Lord charged a large purple orb before firing it at Jinzo's regular form which made him cry out. (Jinzo: 0800/Hand: 3) Shaking his head undeterred from the attack Jinzo made a statement to him. "That's not enough to stop me!"
"I end my turn." Makoto stated simply as Jinzo - Lord's soul exited its body and fired another blast.
Realizing about Ectoplasmer, Jinzo gasped, and screamed, "NO!" He screamed as the blast hit him resulting in a large bright light.

Makoto stared at where Jinzo had been standing before frowning and walking off.
"Whoa hey where ya going?" Jaden asked once his vision is cleared.
"Back to my dorm... to rethink things." Makoto answered without stopping.
They stared before Wheeler called on Emily's back, "Humans! Humans!"
They looked over seeing two unconscious Obelisks with Torrey's body. Emily's eyes widened seeing them. "Come on, we need to get them to Nurse Fontaine."
They walked with only Syrus there before turning back over to where Makoto walked off.
"Syrus?" Chumley asked seeing that while shifting Torrey on his back. "What is it?"
"Sorry guys. I'll be back at the Slifer Dorm later." Syrus said to them before running off.
"Is he going to be ok?" Emily asked Jaden.
"I don't know... If I had to guess, I think he's going to talk to Makoto." Jaden admitted to his sister.
She nodded looking off thoughtfully. With Syrus he continued running after Makoto to find him. Eventually he found Makoto outside the Ra Yellow dorm looking up in thought.
"Makoto?" He heard Syrus' voice.
He turned to him. "You're Syrus, what is it?"
"Is everything alright?" Syrus asked him.
"Everything's fine." he answered only to frown. 'That… is Jinzo really so weak? Is that why we were wiped out by the Cyber-Style?'
"You don't look fine." Syrus told him.
"Why do you care, Torrey and his friends are safe." Makoto pointed out.
"But something is bothering you." Syrus pointed out himself.
"Fine, if you must know... I just learned why the Jinzo-Art is nearly completely gone." Makoto snapped turning to him. "I just dueled Jinzo, the monster my entire life was devoted to mastering and it was the easiest match of my life. I barely had to try, it's no wonder the Cyber-Style nearly wiped out the Jinzo-Style... it should just die with me."
"How could you possibly know that?" Makoto questioned.
"My older brother... he's the best student of the Cyber Style, Zane Truesdale." Syrus said to him.
Makoto's eyes shot open. "What?"
"The reason why the Jinzo-Art is fading is cause the Cyber-Style is more influential, not because Jinzo is weak." Syrus said to him.
Makoto flinched at that not having a response.
"And besides I know why your here. It's to only prove that the Jinzo-Style is better then the Cyber-Style but it's to beat my brother isn't it?" Syrus asked him.
"So what if it is?" Makoto questioned.
"Well I'm not as strong as my brother or have the Cyber-Style, but I do what it takes to defend him." Syrus said to Makoto.
"You're challenging me to a match?" Makoto questioned.
"Yes." Syrus said activating his Duel Disk. "After seeing Emily's match with Zane... I feel I could get better by getting involved against powerful foes like you."
Makoto turned to him. "Not today, we'll duel tomorrow after class."
Syrus stared at him before nodding deactivating his Duel Disk before saying, "Find me tomorrow at the beach near here."
"Right." Makoto nodded before walking into the Ra Yellow dorm.
Syrus walked by himself deep in thought before arriving at the Slifer Dorm walking in where everyone after bringing Torrey, and his friends to Nurse Fontaine were in the cafeteria.
"Oh hey Sy." Jaden waved to him.
Syrus waved back before Chumley asked him, "Where did you go?"
"I... had a chat with Makoto." Syrus answered.
"I see, is he alright?" Professor Banner inquired.
"No. He defeated the monster he grown up mastering really easily, and thought the reason the Jinzo Art is fading is cause of that. I just told him it's cause the Cyber Style being more influential then it." Syrus answered.
"Really, until we got the island I'd never heard of either style." Jaden admitted.
"Well I told you about that when we got our Blazers." Syrus told him.
"Oh yeah, well he looked really skilled to me." Jaden smiled. "I might challenge him myself."
"Well you'll have to wait your turn." Syrus said to him at that.
Jaden blinked before grinning. "Deal."
