"ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND!?"
That was the voice of Dr. Crowler in a big meeting with Chancellor Sheppard, and the other staff alongside Zane. Chancellor Sheppard had called them all here to talk about who can represent Duel Academy this year for a big school duel against North Academy. Most of the teachers figured Zane would represent them again however Sheppard had gotten wind by Foster, the Chancellor of North Academy, that he will pick a Freshman to Duel for North Academy, so to make things fair Sheppard suggested they also pick a Freshman. Needless to say that didn't set right with the good doctor.
"The School Duel is the biggest duel of the year," Dr. Crowler continued protesting loudly against this decision. "we can take no chances! It is clear that Zane must be our rep!" He is determined that a powerful Obelisk like Zane to be the representative of Duel Academy, and not some wimpy first year.
"I would agree under normal circumstances, however North Academy has decided they'll have a freshman represent them this year." Chancellor Sheppard explained. "So it's only fair we do the same."
"Why would they do that?" A fair question to ask why North Academy would pick a Freshman to represent them.
"Who knows?" While Chancellor Sheppard doesn't know why, he is a fair man, and figured Foster knows what he's doing. "But I am one thing, and that's being fair. Is that okay with you Zane?" He turned over for Zane's input who was originally the representative but Sheppard called him over so that he can hear he's being changed from North Academy's sudden decision.
"It's fine with me, the freshman this year are definitely talented." Zane nodded. "Though the question is who would be the best representative for the school?"
"Yes that is the big question." the Ra Yellow Headmaster, Sartyr, admitted cupping his chin in thought as they all thought about it.
Soon Fonda gets an idea bringing up. "Oh I think I know. Emily Yuki." Dr. Crowler paled from hearing the name of the female Yuki while Chancellor Sheppard raised an eyebrow. "Correct me if I'm wrong but she defeated Zane in the Promotion Exams. Even if he did held back it was still impressive she managed to do it."
"She got lucky! We can't risk losing to North Academy, Chancellor you know that." Dr. Crowler argued.
"Well even if she did, I can see she does have a chance." Chancellor Sheppard voiced over at that. "She also beaten Ryou Bakura unless you forgot that Crowler."
"That... what about Bastion Misawa? His grades are the highest correct Professor Sartyr?" Dr. Crowler asked.
"Ah yes Bastion has the highest score among all freshman of the year. Bastion is indeed a strong duelist too with Makoto close behind." Sartyr admitted over from that.
"Then let one of them represent us... they're both incredibly skilled duelists." Dr. Crowler mentioned.
"Hm..."
"If I may offer an opinion myself?" Banner rose a hand himself that Fonda, Dr. Crowler, and Sartry spoke up before Chancellor Sheppard can make a decision.
"Of course." Fonda nodded.
"I would also like the suggest Jaden Yuki." Dr. Crowler paled further from the other Yuki Sibling being suggested. "He has a good record on his shoulders, and was shown to be a capable duelist. Both he, and Emily worked well together, and we have yet to see what it be like if there against each other."
"Hmm I see." Chancellor Sheppard closed his eyes. "So the suggestions are as followed. Jaden Yuki of Slifer Red, Bastion Misawa, and Makoto Inotsume of Ra Yellow, and Emily Yuki of Obelisk Blue. Is that all the suggested freshman, I have gathered?"
Dr. Crowler looked nervous before pausing. "Wait... wait, there's one other student we should consider."
"Hm? Yes Crowler?" Chancellor Sheppard turned over to him hearing that.
"Well, what about Alexis Rhodes?" Dr. Crowler asked turning to Zane. "We can't deny her skill is admirable."
"Hm indeed." Zane admitted hearing that. "Alexis is indeed a skilled duelist."
"So we added Alexis Rhodes to the Obelisk Blue line. Anyone have any other suggestions?" Chancellor Sheppard wrote down Alexis' name on the names of the chosen candidates.
"I think those five are the best candidates we have." Sartyr nodded.
"Very well. Then why not we hold a battle royale to decide who gets to represent Duel Academy?" Chancellor Sheppard suggested with a smile. "All five of them against each other?"
"A five duelist Battle Royale?" Professor Banner inquired. "That would be an interesting idea and it would certainly be the most fair method."
"So are we all in agreement? A five way battle to decide?" Sartyr asked having no objections with a smile.
"Agreed, we can inform them and have the duel in two days?" Sheppard inquired.
Everyone nodded over while Dr. Crowler smirked thinking the Yuki Siblings don't have a chance to compete against these kinds of powerful opponents.
A few minutes later...
The teachers, and Zane were in the Chancellor's office with the five selected students as they were confused why they were called up.
"Alright, sorry to bring you here out of class." Chancellor Sheppard started by apologizing for any inconveniences him calling them over brought.
"What's going on?" Makoto inquired.
"Well I'm sure you five have been informed of the upcoming School Duel?" Sheppard watched as they all nodded letting him know they do indeed know about it. "Well it's about the choice of representative. Originally we were gonna pick Zane for a third year in a row. However, Foster the Chancellor of our opponent Academy, North Academy, had let me know that he had selected a freshman to represent him. I decided to make things fair by also having a freshman represent us, that's where you five come in."
"The five of us?" Alexis asked. "Chancellor, what's going on?"
"We all have been discussing which Freshman should represent us. Among our votes you five were suggested over." Sheppard answered to them. "We decided to pick the representative in a fair way which is why in 2 days all five of you will be in a five-way free-for-all to decide who gets to represent Duel Academy for the School Duel."
"A free-for all duel between all five of us?" Alexis asked hearing that.
"Yes of course. Miss Alexis Rhodes, and Emily Yuki from Obelisk, Mr. Bastion Misawa, and Makoto Inotsume from Ra Yellow, and Mr. Jaden Yuki from Slifer Red." Chancellor Sheppard confirmed with a side. "In two days all five of you will be in a Battle Royale to decide who's the representative. Please prepare your Decks by the time it's ready."
"A five-person duel?" Emily asked nervously.
"Okay then, you have any questions or anything please tell me or the staff. You all are excused from classes to prepare. Good luck." Sheppard smiled to them.
"This sounds awesome." Jaden grinned happily.
All five exited the Chancellor's Office from that all high in spirits. All except for Emily of course, she wasn't sure if she was gonna be picked but she was wrong she was. And now against her brother, one of the best female duelists, a smart Ra Yellow, and a user of the Jinzo Style? Is she nervous? No. She was terrified.
"H-Hey Em?" Jaden asked surprised from her moving so fast.
She walked by herself looking around. Eventually she manages to find Blair exiting a card shack wearing a Obelisk Blue Blazer her size. They went clean to Fonda about Blair being younger, and a girl, and while they received a scolding Fonda lets her stay. They also discussed to her parents, and allowed her to stay as long as she's careful.
Emily froze seeing her and blushed before shaking her head. "Um... Blair, are you busy?"
Hearing her Blair looked over. "Emily?" She then widen her eyes. "Emily are you okay? Why do you look so scared?"
"I... I'm going to be in a battle royale with some of the strongest duelists here." Emily shuddered.
"A battle royale? Why?" Blair asked surprised.
"We're going to have a school duel with North Academy and... I'm supposed to duel Jaden, Alexis, Bastion, and Makoto in a battle royale to pick the representative." Emily explained. "I don't stand a chance."
"Oh wow you been selected to be Duel Academy's representative in the School Duel! Oh I'm proud of you!" Blair called with a smile.
"Blair... I can't go through with it." Emily shuddered fearfully.
"Hey Emily." She feels her girlfriend taking her hands.
Emily looked at Blair and nervously squeezed her hands.
Blair looked at her stern. "You can go through with it. You know why? Cause I know you can, your an amazing duelist! I know you can beat those duelists!"
"Blair?" Emily asked in shock hearing that. "You... you really think so?"
"Of course. You are the sweetest girl I know, and you are super strong!" Blair grinned with a nod. "So I do know you can do it, and if I swear, I would eat my Deck to show you how much I know you can!"
Blair smiled before kissing her. Emily froze and turned red at that but was smiling. "Love Blair... I you."
Blair couldn't help but giggle hearing that before playfully teasing. "Love Emily I you."
Emily blinked before pausing and blushing a bit. "I meant... I love you Blair."
"I know." Blair giggled again.
Meanwhile at the Slifer Red Dorm...
"Whoa your gonna duel to be chosen as representative?" Syrus asked shocked at Jaden.
"No Slifer ever had the honor," Chumley agreed just as shocked. "you'd be making history!"
"Well, it isn't that easy. I need to beat some really tough duelists... including Alexis and Emily." Jaden admitted. "You remember how my last duel with Lex went right Sy?"
"Well yeah but you been through some nasty stuff since then. You got another chance." Syrus answered from that.
"I know, I'm already looking forward to it." Jaden grinned happily.
"You have your sister, and Alexis. The two your familiar with. It's the Ra Yellows to watch over for. You haven't dueled one of them, and Bastion is really smart while Makoto uses Jinzo." Chumley spoke up to Jaden. "Those two will be even more trouble then Alexis, or Emily if they have new skills."
"I know, it'll be an amazing duel." Jaden grinned excitedly.
"Well you better start preparing your Deck, it's two days from now!" Syrus urged him to get ready.
"Right." Jaden agreed.
Meanwhile at the Ra Yellow Dorm...
Makoto, and Bastion were eating together silent in thought from them being chosen to be Duel Academy Representatives. Makoto had come to terms he had to be better after being defeated by Syrus, and while he expected great things he didn't think he be a representative of a School Duel.
"Congratulations on being selected. But I will not go easy." Bastion spoke up with a grin to him.
Makoto blinked looking over at him. "Well, may the best duelist win."
Bastion offers a handshake of sportsmanship. Makoto looked before taking it.
"A battle-royale is different from a normal duel." Makoto pointed out.
"Of course, I know that." Bastion said that he does know it. "But I will work it out."
"We'll see." Makoto smirked.
And lastly...
Meanwhile at the Obelisk Blue Girl's Dorm...
"Whoa-ho way to level up!" Jasmine grinned over to Alexis. Emily, and Blair are still out but Mindy, and Jasmine are congratulating Alexis figuring Blair is doing that to Emily in there stead. "You being a representative to Duel Academy is a big deal!"
"It isn't that simple." Alexis pointed out. "This battle royale won't be easy."
"Yeah your against some powerful opponents. There's Jaden, and Emily. And there's also those two Ra Yellows." Mindy admitted as she remembered the four. "But your powerful Lex so you can show them your strong!"
"I can only do my best against them." Alexis admitted. "The duel's in two days."
"Well get yourself ready Lex." Jasmine smiled over. "We will be here if you need anything."
"Thanks you two." she smiled.
So from that the duelists are having some intense training down in two days. Then two days passed by in a blur.
2 days later...
"Everyone please have a seat!" Chancellor Sheppard announced over to everyone at the Academy while the five Duelists stand in the arena with him, and the Duel Academy Headmasters.
"Oh man, this is going to be a really tough duel." Syrus admitted nervously. "Jaden has a chance right Chumley?"
"I don't know Sy. We know of Jaden, and Emily's time, and that he lost to Alexis. But we don't know anything with the two Ra Yellows." Chumley said over to him.
Syrus frowned hearing that as he nervously turned back to the field.
"Here we are engaging in a five way free for all for us to decide who will be the representative of Duel Academy!" Chancellor Sheppard explained with a smile. "Two Obelisk Blues, two Ra Yellows, and 1 Slifer Red are the choices, and this duel will decide who is lucky enough! Everyone give the chosen duelists a round of applause for being selected!"
Everyone started cheering at that. After that Chancellor Sheppard smiled to the duelists. "Okay you five. The rules for this is simple. All five of you will have 4000 Life Points, and your own field. However none of you can attack on the first turn, and are against each other. Understand?"
"Of course. Chancellor." Bastion nodded.
The others nodded in sync.
"Alright. To decide the turn order, you all pick a monster I had selected. The higher the level is who gets to go first, then second, and so on, and so on." Chancellor Shepperd shows five monsters of levels 1 through 5 before shuffling them, and spread out upside down so they can take one.
Makoto took the fourth card, Emily the first, Jaden the fifth, Alexis the second, and Bastion took the third as they all looked at the cards. Makoto has Zombino a Level 4 monster, Alexis has Clown Zombie a Level 2 monster, Jaden has Sonic Duck a Level 3 monster, Bastion has Goblin Calligrapher a Level 1 monster, and Emily has Cyber-Tech Alligator a Level 5 monster.
"So the turn order will be Emily, Makoto, Jaden, Alexis, and then Bastion." Sheppard noted. "Are you all ready?"
They all nodded shuffling there Decks, and readied themselves on the field.
"Then let the Battle Royale begin!"
"DUEL!" all five declared.

Makoto then smirked over. "Why thank you Jaden." Jaden blinked before Makoto activated his face-down. "I use my Trap Card! Imperial Order!" His face-down was flipped.

Bastion looked over before he then nodded. "I'll start this off by summoning Hydrogeddon from my hand!" Hydrogeddon rose up roaring loud.

"As Hydrogeddon destroyed a monster in battle, I can summon a second Hydrogeddon!" Bastion added as a second monster rose up.

"And now my second Hydrogeddon attacks Psychic Megacyber!" Bastion called as the Hydrogeddon fired a second muddy blast destroying Makoto's other monster while he tched. "And let's hit the rewind button shall we!?" With that a third Hydrogeddon roses up.

"Three monsters, you're not holding anything back are you Bastion?" Jaden grinned.
"I wouldn't be. Smart move would be attacking Makoto but I got a better move." Bastion grinned before moving. "My third Hydrogeddon attacks Alexis!" The third one fired a blast at Alexis.

"And next, I activate my face-down, Tyrant's Temper!" Bastion called as one Hydrogeddon vanished.

Emily looked at the field before nodding. "I attack Hydrogeddon with Elemental HERO Core!"
Core nodded charging in order only for Bastion to call over. "Not so fast before your attack I activate Half or Nothing!"

Emily's eyes widened as she looked at Core who nodded. "I'll continue my attack!"

"But now Hydrogeddon is too strong against Core." Bastion grinned over. "So you either attack Makoto or Alexis."
"I'm attacking Sparkman!" Emily called.
Core turned over to Sparkman which caught them all off guard.
"What? Why she is attacking Sparkman?" Makoto asked as Core charged in at Sparkman who readied an attack over.
Jaden is tempted to use Hero Barrier to block it but isn't sure what to do. So he doesn't activate the trap just watching what Emily is doing.
Emily braced herself as Core shattered.

"I set all three cards, and end my turn." Emily mentioned. 'I'm betting it all on this move.'

Makoto frowned before he drew. "My turn. Since I can't pay the cost anymore, Imperial Order's destroyed." Imperial Order shattered on his field.
"That frees us all to use spell cards again." Bastion noted.
"Which should include this! Change of Heart!" Makoto shows a spell.

Makoto frowned more. "I end my turn." The substance faded on Jinzo - Lord.

"Sparking Vigilante! Take the mask of the Indian HERO, and become one with the Armored HERO to become wild! Fusion Summon! Come on, Elemental HERO Wildedge!" Raising up was Wildheart wearing armor based on Bladedge with a large sword.

"And he's not done." Emily pointed out. "Wildedge can attack every opposing monster."
"Yeah! Which means it's your turn Bastion!" Bastion widen his eyes as Wildedge charged in slashing away Hydrogeddon destroying it too while Bastion knelled taking out both Ra Yellows just like that. (Bastion: 0000/Hand: 1)
"Fortunately Emily and I don't have monsters so Wildedge can't attack us." Alexis pointed out.
Dr. Crowler was gaping loud. 'That slacker... took out both Ra Yellows!? Alexis get rid of these slackers!'
"Okay that's my turn." Jaden grinned.

'Yes Alexis very good!' Dr. Crowler smirked over from this. One slacker down, one too go. Emily doesn't have anything capable enough to stop Alexis is he what thinks.
Emily turned to her. "Anything else Alexis?"

Terra Firma formed swords of magma that absorbed Stratos as he powered up.

Terra Firma charged over as Dakini moved to retaliate but Terra Fima was struck by the attack while Alexis grunted over. (Alexis: 0200/Hand: 2)
"Now I'll..." Emily started before her eyes widened.
"Sorry Emily, but by banishing Machine Angel Ritual Dakini isn't destroyed." Alexis revealed.
"I... I end my turn." Emily frowned as Terra Firma's points returned to normal.

"What?" Alexis questioned seeing that.
"Sorry Alexis." She looked where Emily is smiling. "I have this." She shows a trap.

Alexis's eyes widened seeing that as the light struck her and she shielded herself as her life points dropped down to zero.

Everyone stared in silence shocked about this while Emily is also shocked before she gotten tackled down by something.
"I knew you could do it." Blair smiled hugging her.
Emily looked before smiling hugging Blair. Looking up she sees Alexis looking at her before softly smiling. "You really beat me... but only cause Bastion weakened me earlier. We're gonna have a real match sometime soon. Remember that."
"It's more than that, Favorite Hero has another effect." Emily admitted turning to Jaden. "By sending it to the graveyard Jaden could have beaten either one of us with one more direct attack."
"Well yeah, but Makoto kind of forced us to work together to get past his cards... one-on-one he probably would have beaten most of us." Jaden agreed.
"True, we all have reasons to duel each other again." Bastion smiled. "Though right now you won fair and square Emily, it was a fantastic duel and given me quite a bit to analyze for our rematch."
"It's more than that, Favorite Hero has another effect." Emily admitted turning to Jaden. "By sending it to the graveyard Jaden could have beaten either one of us with one more direct attack."
"Well yeah, but Makoto kind of forced us to work together to get past his cards... one-on-one he probably would have beaten most of us." Jaden agreed.
"True, we all have reasons to duel each other again." Bastion smiled. "Though right now you won fair and square Emily, it was a fantastic duel and given me quite a bit to analyze for our rematch."
"And much more." They looked where Chancellor Sheppard walked over with a proud smile. "By winning that duel, Miss Emily Yuki you've earned the right as the representative of Duel Academy in the School Duel!"
Emily blushed hearing that before nodding. "I... I'll do my best."
Ulrich362: Well, quite the intense free-for-all but it ends with Emily's victory... though maybe we'll see more duels between these five and some of the other students?
