In a dark cave was several people lead by someone watching in. They are enemies made to fight against Duel Academy, and obtain a sacred power from below Duel Academy, the Sacred Beasts. Now it looked as though the time has finally come due to all of the trials that came before the students over. "Our enemies has been tested, the time is upon us."
"Then I'll be the first to go." mentioned a masked young man.
"Very well Nightshroud, I expect quite a bit from you." the old man stated.
"Of course, the prize of Duel Academy will be our's." the teen Nightshroud smirked before walking off to start off.
Meanwhile with Chancellor Sheppard he is staring off out of the window seeing a coming storm. Then he notices something flying in which he frowned over. "So it's now beginning... Time for the War of the Sacred Beasts to begin." That's when a screen appeared next to his desk before a shadowy figure appeared on it.
He turned over from this as the figure from it spoke over. "Things will end differently this time."
"So the time of the Shadow Games starts here."
"It has, but our allies have grown in number. You have no hope of surviving. The Sacred Beasts will soon be mine. It's simply a matter of time."
"We will see. Just your Shadow Riders grow stronger so does the determination, and power of my students." Sheppard said to person speaking over more then determined to defend the Sacred Beasts from whoever this is.
"We shall see." the figure stated as the screen turned off.
Chancellor Sheppard stared on before looking back outside waiting for the battle to begin.
Meanwhile...
Blair suddenly wakes up to feeling a shuddering. "H-Huh?" She looks over groggy at what's shivering against her. She saw Emily was trembling in her sleep.
"Huh? Emily, Emily!" Blair starts to shake her awake.
She was shaking badly and wasn't waking up. Frowning from this Blair knew she has to do this. "I'm sorry." She smacked Emily to wake her awake.
"AAAHHH!" Emily cried shooting up before gasping. "Huh, what... Blair?"
She immediately started trembling as she embraced her tightly, clearly scared of something.
"Hey..." Blair hugs her back worried for her girlfriend seeing this was pure fear. "What's the matter?"
"I... I don't know... something bad is going to happen... something really bad." Emily shuddered.
"Something just came to the island." Ni-Ni spoken up appearing beside her with Blair able to see her too as she has a bond with Maiden in Love. "Something evil, and dark..."
Emily shuddered in fear. "No... that's impossible it can't be her... it can't!"
Unknown to them at that exact moment in the Slifer Red Dorm...
Syrus and Chumley were both shuddering in fear from the storm while Jaden was happily snoring not noticing that the half of the medallion that Jaden got from the Gravekeeper's Chief had started to glow.
The next day...
Things are a little tense this morning. Otherside from the storm, and what Emily's monsters had sensed, it seemed like something weird is going on. Right now some students are settled in Professor Banner's class while Jaden is about to dine into a lunchbox bento Emily prepared for him a little bit ago before a intercom was heard, and Chancellor Sheppard's face appeared on the viewing screen in the class.
"Excuse me would the students Jaden Yuki, Chazz Princeton, Bastion Misawa, and Alexis Rhodes please come to my office with Professor Banner?" Chancellor Sheppard announced over on the screen before it turned itself off.
They all looked confused before walking off.
In another classroom Dr. Crowler was high knees in a lesson over before Chancellor Sheppard's face appeared on the screen for an announcement. "Excuse me would the students Emily Yuki, Zane Truesdale, Makoto Inotsume, and Blair Flannigan please come to my office with Dr. Crowler?" The TV announcement ended with the video cutting off.
Emily shuddered hearing that as Dr. Crowler blinked. "Well… class dismissed."
With that said everyone blinked before said people headed off following Dr. Crowler ahead. Blair softly takes her hand while she walked beside Emily, and behind Zane, and Makoto. "What do you think Chancellor Sheppard wants to talk to us about?"
"I don't know... but... I'm really worried it's going to be bad." Emily admitted as they walked only to notice the others.
"Huh, hey Ems." Jaden smiled seeing her. "You guys were called too, I guess it means we're not in trouble right?"
"Well we hardly know what is it we're being called for." Zane answered before then saying. "Well let's not keep the Chancellor waiting." They all nodded walking inside all together where Chancellor Sheppard was staring at the window his back turned to them, and hands together behind him. Hearing the door opening he turned over his face looking grim.
"I'm glad you all came here quickly." Sheppard started over to them.
"Is something wrong?" Alexis asked seeing that.
"I brought you all today but it doesn't concern your school work. It's something much, MUCH, more serious." Sheppard answered to them to let them know this is something really important. "Where to begin...? I'll just say this here, this island, and potentially the whole world are in danger from the power of the Sacred Beasts."
"Sacred Beasts?" Blair asked. "What are those?"
"I've certainly never heard of them before." Bastion admitted.
"If you remember the Egyptian Gods think of the Sacred Beasts as a lesser version of them." Sheppard explained over towards them to know how powerful they are. "If they are ever released, there power will engulf the world, cities with crumble, souls will lost, the whole world will become a desolate wasteland."
"If they're that dangerous why tell us? Why not tell Yugi Muto or Seto Kaiba?" Chazz questioned.
"This Academy was made to keep them sealed underground. They are right below us." Sheppard answered over which made everyone look below them. "Underneath us are a set of 8 Spirit Gates that keep them sealed away. They stayed safely guarded by the gates that keep there awesome power in check, and ensure they never get released." He then frowned over to them. "However, that may not be the case anytime soon."
"What do you mean?" Zane asked him.
"Last night amiss the storm, a member of Shadow Duelists known as the Shadow Riders who seek to use there power had arrived on the island." Sheppard explained revealing what it was that Emily's monsters had sensed last night.
Emily gasped hearing that and started shivering slightly.
"Shadow Riders? And they're trying to get the Sacred Beasts?" Alexis realized.
"Well we won't let that happen." Jaden mentioned confidently.
"I called you all here as you are the best duelists of the Academy." Sheppard reached down pulling out a box, and opened it revealing 8 different charms of different writings together as a square like shape for them to see.
"What are those?" Blair asked seeing them.
"These are the eight Spirit Keys. They are capable of opening the Spirit Gates, and unlock the seal that is keeping the Sacred Beasts underground." Sheppard explained over towards them. "That is how you can protect the cards by protecting the Spirit Keys."
"So we're just supposed to keep these keys, what if these Shadow Riders steal them?" Alexis asked.
"Fortunately we're safe on that end. An ancient rule commands that the keys can only be won through a duel." Sheppard explained over the good side of things. "They try stealing or taking the keys by force then the Spirit Gates will not open. That is why I am trusting you all with guarding them as the best duelists of the school to protect them."
"Then you chose the right person for the job." Chazz smirked taking one as Alexis, Zane, Jaden, Bastion, Makoto, and Blair took the other six.
"Oh sorry young lady..." Sheppard apologized over towards Blair who blinked. "I'm afraid your not among them. Don't get me wrong your skill isn't being questioned I mostly just called you over for Emily's sake as she needs you to be there to listen to the story."
"Excuse me?" Blair questioned hearing that.
"Hey Chancellor, I think it be a good idea if Blair is also one of us." Jaden said to him which Sheppard looked over at him. "Blair's an awesome duelist, and we seen how she did that one time. Right guys?" He looked to Makoto, Bastion, Zane, and Alexis for there input as from the Deck Theft from Dimitri must be kept secret in gratitude for seeing Yugi's Deck in action lest he be expelled.
"True, she's definitely more than qualified." Zane admitted.
"I agree completely, she's a strong duelist." Alexis nodded.
Makoto nodded over silently with crossed arms before Bastion smiled over. "I have to agree also. She knows her stuff despite being younger."
Chazz himself didn't say anything but didn't argue about it no objections in mind.
"Well... not exactly what I had in mind but I suppose if you six can vouch for her, then I suppose I don't have any say in it." Sheppard admitted over feeling it's wrong for someone as young as Blair to get involved but if they can agree unanimously that Blair be a welcomed addition it's not for him to decide. "But it's only five of you." At that they all looked at Emily, the last one who hasn't got a key or said anything. "What about you Miss Yuki? What do you say about both the Key, and Blair having one herself?"
Emily looked and smiled. "Blair is one of the two people I think should have them the most."
Blair smiled over before then telling her. "Well Emily... your key awaits." She gestured for Emily to take the last one who stares at it.
"If your not feeling for it Emily, I understand." Sheppard lets her know she has a choice, and can understand if she says no.
Emily in all honesty is scared, and wants to try saying no to this... but if she does then all of what Mindy, and Jasmine are doing to help her get pass her weaknesses would be pointless. And that Blair is with her to see if she's ready to take the big step. So kinda hard to decide...
Feeling a hand Emily looks to see Blair smiling over. "Whatever choice you make Emily... I'll be proud either way."
Emily looked nervously at the key.
"Well, as an instructor I should certainly take the lead in protecting these gates." Dr. Crowler stated suddenly getting everyone's attention as he took the last key. "Someone needs to lead these students and ensure they remain safe at all times of course."
"Hey that's hers!" Jaden snatched the key from his hand. "It clearly has Emily's name on it, and my sis is amazing." He walked over placing the key in her hand. "Here you are Ems. I know that we can do this. Like old times sake when we used to be superheroes together." He winked over with a grin to her reminding her they use to play heroes together, and since Emily hasn't refused yet, Dr. Crowler doesn't have any right to take the key yet so Jaden pretty much sets the choice clear for her now.
Emily blushed a bit in embarrassment of him saying that as she looked at the key only to shudder. "What... what happens to us if we lose? Do we just hand the key over or... does something worse happen?"
"I'm afraid that's for the Shadow Riders to decide. They play... for keeps." Sheppard admitted over towards her at that as he was also disappointed in Dr. Crowler forcing his choice, and glad Jaden took action for his sister. "But from the talent you displayed through the year Emily despite your shortcomings, I believe that you be a great protector of the Spirit Gates.
Emily looked uncertain but nodded.
"So when do these Shadow Rider creeps show up?" Chazz questioned. "I'm ready to Chazz it up and knock them down."
"I'm afraid I don't know, they can show up at anytime. One of them is already at the island so the only thing we can do is wait for them to make there move." Sheppard admitted to them. "So be on guard, and stand ready when they do. And I trust you two with keeping them safe in case they do." He spoke that bit to Dr. Crowler, and Professor Banner which is the reason he told them about it.
"Of course." Professor Banner nodded at that.
So they all walked out to ready themselves whenever they strike over.
Later that night...
"...And that's pretty much the story." Alexis finished over towards Jasmine, and Mindy telling them the story of the Shadow Riders, and Spirit Gates while she, Emily, and Blair show there keys to them.
After arriving back at the dorm, the three told Jasmine, and Mindy they needed to tell them something so after fixing some snacks over, they all explained to them what is going on to them, and why there were called away like that.
"That's crazy!" Jasmine cried in shock.
"Yeah no joke! Three cards that are close in power to the Egyptian Gods, and you three girls with some others need to guard them?" Mindy also expressed shock from this that there entrusted with something so important.
"Yeah seriously." Blair nodded over as she looked at her key that she secured in place of her Happy Lover hairpin. "But now all we need to do is wait for them to make there move."
"Boy that be the hardest part, you ain't never gonna know WHEN they pop up." Jasmine frowned over before then grinning. "Hey... reminds ya of good ol' horror flicks doesn't it girls?"
"Let's not talk about horror right now." Alexis frowned.
"Yeah cause I think we're all IN one right now, and I'd prefer not to think about what might happen." Mindy agreed over that Jasmine paused before nodding now thinking that's probably not the right thing to say before the black haired girl then turned over. "So the keys can't be stolen, and only won in a duel... you three are okay with dueling to protect them?"
"Of course." Blair nodded.
"No complaints here." Alexis agreed nodding before patting Emily's back. "Emily's... not really as confident though."
"Well not to worry Ems, I think your new-er... real Deck should be something that they aren't expecting." Jasmine assured the girl with a grin. "We haven't seen it in action yet, so that's one advantage you have over them."
"I haven't used it in years… I barely remember the names of my cards let alone how to play them." she frowned. "Hopefully I'm not first."
"Why don't you get some air? It might clear your head to focus more." Blair suggested to her. "I'll go with you."
"Ok, thanks." Emily smiled at that.
With that the two get up walking up onto the balcony to get some air seeing the night sky, and the full moon. Emily started to blush. "Oh wow..."
"Yeah the moon is beautiful isn't it?" Blair smiled as she takes her hand.
"This... is kind of like a romantic movie I saw once... the young couple standing together under the full moon, sharing a tender kiss." Emily blushed. "Then... mom made me turn the movie off."
Blair smiled up to her. "Want to try that?"
Emily blushed and not trusting her voice she just nodded kneeling down a bit. Blair turned before starting to kiss her softly with closed eyes. Emily shuddered kissing her back as they didn't notice Alexis walking away from the dorm.
'I've got to warn Jaden... the Shadow Riders probably go after the weakest link, and as a Slifer they pick him first.' Alexis thought as she walked to warn Jaden.
Unaware to her someone stepped up from the forest staring up at the two girls on the balcony.
"Come on, let's go back inside." Blair mentioned to Emily.
"Yeah, I think... I need to try and relax. Do you want to head to the hot springs before bed?" Emily asked her.
"Yeah." Blair smiled nodding as she turned with Emily to head out to the hot springs.
"You feeling focused now Emily?" Jasmine asked her.
"Still a bit nervous, but a little better." she admitted. "Huh, where's Alexis?"
"She went to talk with Jaden... she mentioned that since he's in Slifer Red he might be the first one those Shadow Rider creeps go after." Mindy explained.
"I don't think the Shadow Riders will go after them cause of rank." Blair frowned over before she shrugged over. "Ah well, me, and Emily need to head somewhere before bed. So good night girls."
"Night." Mindy waved with a smile. "Don't slip or anything!"
"We won't." Blair smiled. "Night you two."
So after they left, the two walked over to the hot springs changing to there bikinis together before entering in together. Emily let out a relaxed sigh. "This is nice... the water is amazing tonight."
"Yeah so warm, and amazing." Blair sighed herself with a smile with her hair down. "Especially if it's with people like you Emily."
Emily smiled only for the room to start glowing purple. "Huh?"
"Hm?" Blair blinked before noticing the glowing too. "What's going on?"
"Emily get out now!" Hu-Li quickly hollered for her. "That thing that came last night is here right now!"
Emily's eyes widened before the glow got brighter before it faded to reveal Emily and Blair were gone.
The two were blinded by the light groaning before the light around them faded revealing there in a new area on a floating platform. Below them was lava, and they see there in there Obelisk Blazers with Duel Disks, Decks, and Spirit Keys with them. Looking up they see the night sky.
"Huh, what just happened?" Emily asked nervously.
"What's happening is it's starting!" Suddenly something burst out of the lava forcing a scream from the two as it flew around landing on the area opposite of them before something formed stepping out revealing himself.
He is a teenage boy with a brown hairstyle looking similar to Alexis', and has on a dark brown/black blazer with sneakers, and black pants. He also has on a black bird's eye mask with a ruby on it. Around his neck was also half of a medallion.
"Wh... who are you?" Emily shuddered as Blair frowned looking at him and moving between this boy and Emily.
"Call me Nightshroud." the boy smirked as the flames died behind him. "And I came here for those two keys, you two have there."
"You're a Shadow Rider." Blair frowned hearing that. "Fine, I'll take you on."
Suddenly the medallion around his neck glowed that they noticed it now that he softly takes it his hand smirking over.
"That... where did you get that?" Emily asked in shock.
"Like it? I got it from some Gravekeeper... of course the Chief must be getting sloppy since I seen the other half with that kid." Nighthsroud answered over smirking at Emily. "After you, I'll go for him."
"Wh... what?" Emily froze. "What did you just say?"
"You heard me as soon as I'm done with you two, I'll go for the one who holds the other half of this medallion."
Emily frowned before taking a breath. "No, you're not. I won't let you hurt Jaden."
"Emily, I can take this Shadow Rider." Blair spoke over to her that she doesn't have to do this.
"I'll duel you both at the same time." Nightshroud smirked.
"No... just me." Emily stood in front of Blair to defend her.
"1, 2 don't make no difference. Shall we begin?" Nightshroud readied his Duel Disk at them with a smirk.
"Fine, you can go first." Emily mentioned as she readied herself over. 'I need the time to check my cards anyway, and he won't be able to attack on the first turn.'

"Whoa Red-Eyes Black Dragon." Blair widen her eyes in awe at seeing the legendary creature one of the most well known cards in the game! Joey uses it after winning it from it's original user, Rex Raptor at Duelist Kingdom.
"Scared?" Nightshroud smirked over towards Emily with the powerful dragon at his side which growled lightly at Emily.
"N... no..." Emily answered while trembling.
"Well you should be. Now tell me, you think cause it's the first turn, your safe from Red-Eyes' attack?" Nightshroud smirked over while taking a card from his hand. "Well you couldn't be anymore wrong."
"Huh?" Emily asked nervously hearing that. "Wh... what do you mean?"
"I mean that his attack is an actual card!" Nightshroud reveals a spell of Red-Eyes attacking with it's signature attack.

At that Red-Eyes reared it's head back charging it's attack before firing it over at Emily.
"Watch out!" Blair yelled out for her knowing as this is a Shadow Game like what they seen with Mindy against the Gravekeeper's Chief will hurt who takes damage.
"Emily!" Blair ran over grabbing her hand, and starting to pull her up.
Nightshroud watched over with a smirk at them before gloating. "Hahaha! Like it? Inferno Fire Blast deals damage equal to the attack points of a Red-Eyes Black Dragon on my field. So it doesn't matter who takes first turn, it's itching to deal damage either way!"
Emily was shaking as it was clear what little confidence she had was shaken badly by the blast.
"Are you okay?" Blair asked looking over if she's alright as the blast looked like it dealt real damage to her.
"I... no, I'm not." Emily shivered fearfully as she looked more scared than when she played Elemental HERO cards like Jaden.
"Well get your head in gear, it's your turn now." Nightshroud sets a card ending his turn.
"Okay Emily, I know it's scary here but you can do this." Blair told her gently squeezing her hand to give her strength.

"Alright, it's been a while Ems... but we can take this creep." Hu-Li spoke towards Emily before grinning. "And we have a new friend over that can help with that!"
Emily didn't seem to hear her but she was shaking a bit looking at her hand as she drew her card before pausing. 'Huh, wait this is... maybe if I...'
"Ok, I'll start with the effect of Ohime the Manifested Mikanko in my hand."
She revealed a Ritual Monster as she said that.
"I can reveal her to add a Mikanko card to my hand then I discard one card so I'll add... Mikanko Fire Dance and send this card to the graveyard."
Nightshroud looked a bit surprised. 'Mikanko? Didn't Camula said she uses Elemental HEROs like her brother...?' He then shrugged to himself. 'Oh well no different she said she's the weakest link so it doesn't make much difference.' He watches as she adds a card before discarding one.
"Ok... now I'll activate my field spell Heavenly Gate of the Mikanko." Emily continued.

"Wait a second Ha-Re, your ability activates since you were equipped." Emily mentioned. "I can add Mikanko Reflection Rondo to my hand and I'll equip it to Black Dragon's Chick."

"Not at all!" Ha-Re charged up a fireball with a smirk charging up. "Eat this dragon!" She fired it over as the dragon growled before charging Inferno Fire Blast firing over that dispelled the fireball.
"Now what you up too, your letting your monster get destroyed?" Nightshroud questioned only to notice Ha-Re trapping the Inferno Fire Blast in her hands moving her hands that started to change the attack with Tai-Chi moves. "What?"
"When Ha-Re the Sword Mikanko is equipped with a spell card she isn't destroyed and you take all the battle damage." Emily explained to Nightshroud.
"Take this!" Ha-Re called as she redirected the Inferno Fire Blast back at Nightshroud.
Nightshroud flinched before it braced himself from the attack directed back at him but looks over indifferent. (Nightshroud: 1600/Hand: 0)
"What? No twitch or anything?"
"Sorry but I leave that for my opponents." Nightshroud smirked over towards Blair. "Now girl interesting effect but unfortunately for you Black Dragon's Chick doesn't have that effect. So you done?"
"I use the other effect of Heavenly Gate of the Mikanko, when a Mikanko monster battles I can send an equip spell to the graveyard to let that monster attack again, so I'll send Mikanko Reflection Rondo to the graveyard." Emily explained as the spell on Black Dragon's Chick shattered and the dragon flew back to Nightshroud's field. "Now Ha-Re attack Red-Eyes Black Dragon again."
"Gladly." Ha-Re grinned forming a second fireball before throwing it at Red-Eyes again.
"What?" Nightshroud blinked before attempting to use his face-down. "I activate Negate Atta-!"
"You can't, when a Mikanko Monster battles you're not allowed to use cards or effects until the end of the damage step." Emily revealed.
"What!?" This easily!? THIS easily!?
The attack hit again that Red-Eyes charged an Inferno Fire Blast firing over at Ha-Re, and her focus was thrown for a minute when she heard a voice from the attack. "Thank you...!"
"Huh?" Ha-Re blinked.
"What's wrong Ha-Re?"
The monster shook her head looking at Emily grinning. "Sorry Emily, thought I heard something!" She charged over the same moves before smirking at the stepping back Nightshroud. "Eat THIS!" She fired over blasting him which he started screaming holding his head.

The moment he started screaming the platform there on started to disappear.
"Huh? Wait we're over lava!" Emily cried.
"Hold on tight!" Looking then see Red-Eyes charging over grabbing both girls with it's talons before the Chick grabbed the unconscious Nightshroud to fly off the volcano just as the platform vanished, and Ha-Re flying behind them.
"That was close, thank you." Emily told Red-Eyes.
Red-Eyes growled nodding before he, and Black Chick vanished leaving Nightshroud's unconscious form as Blair sees a card taking it seeing Nightshroud's mask on it with chains.
Seeing that she blinked walking over to the boy only to gasp. "Huh!?"
"What's up Blair?" Ha-Re turned over to her while checking over Emily.
"He... he looks like Alexis. Ha-Re I think... I think this is her brother!" Emily cried as she sent a message telling Alexis to head to the volcano right away.
Meanwhile in the cave...
"What was that Camula? You weren't just wrong, you cost Nightshroud everything with your incompetence!" glared a shadowy figure.
"She never used a Deck like that before." a green haired woman with a Victorian Accent defended herself with her eyes glowing over. "All the matches I seen her hesitation is her greatest weakness, and I seen her only using those HERO cards like her brother. My bats never detected her using another Deck like that."
"Enough both of you, so Nightshroud fell... we've learned valuable information about her new deck... and the others will fall in time." a calm male voice told them.
"So Camula... if you believe you can do better why not you go next?" a female voice of a woman with a large ponytail suggested over towards Camula.
"Very well." she nodded calmly. "Unlike that childish fool I will gather the Spirit Keys."
"You do be careful Camula." one other voice told her, another female one.
She nodded as she walked out of the cave.
Back at the volcano...
The girls were waiting over with Nightshroud's body sitting against a tree before hearing some running where Alexis with Jaden, Syrus, and Chumley ran together over having got the message.
"What? What is it!?" Alexis asked over concerned to Emily. "Did a Shadow Rider come up!?"
"Yeah, and Emily wiped the floor with him." Blair praised causing Emily to blush before shaking her head.
"I... I think he was being controlled by some kind of evil mask, it ended up in this card when I beat him." Emily mentioned showing the card with Nightshroud's mask. "But... Alexis... I think he looks like you."
"Looks like me?" Alexis turned to Nightshroud's body looking over. When she sees his face she gasped her eyes widening dumbfounded before she started crying heavily hugging him close to her.
"Alexis?" Jaden asked seeing that.
"Jaden... guys..." Alexis turned to them with happy tears in her eyes showing the boy to them. "It's him... It's Atticus, my brother!"
"Your brother?" Jaden asked before swallowing nervously only to pause. "Huh, it's the other half of that medallion Mindy won."
"So Atticus was who that chief mentioned?" Syrus asked shocked from it.
"Emily... thank you." Alexis sobbed over to her really grateful.
Emily just hugged one of her best friends closely.

bopdog111: Yeah it is. Mikanko is a Deck befitting for Emily here as shown by how she used it.
Ulrich362: True, but it has some weaknesses and Camula saw the deck firsthand.
