Standard Disclaimer: I own nothing in regards to Harry Potter, Star Wars, or Mass Effect. All properties therein are those of their creators. I am only a writer working on my skills with worlds and characters that I love.
Note: I am amazed by the overwhelmingly positive response to this new story of mine. Thank you all for the amazing reviews.
Note: According to my research, Darth Vader's Executer was 19,000 meters long. In other words, eleven miles. Seems like something Harry would insist on too.
Note: I've had a few concerned messages asking if this will be a story primarily told from Lily's point of view. It is not. I'm planning to use both her and Harry as POV characters throughout.
Chapter Two - Meeting The Emperor
Harry woke in the morning as he did every morning before, extremely warm and happy. Everywhere he could see and feel his women were curled around him. On his arms, laying on his chest, and even curled over his feet. Had any man ever had such bliss in his life as he was currently experiencing? He thought not.
For the next twenty minutes he continued to bask in their love and presence both physically and in the Force, and then, regrettably, he started to stir. None of his wives were early risers, so there was plenty of grumbling and disagreeable pouting as he extricated himself from the sheets and stumbled over to the refresher to shower and prepare for the day.
Once he'd scrubbed himself clean he brushed his teeth and took a moment to examine his features in the mirror. Pretty much from the moment he'd assumed direct control of the galaxy he'd had his scientists researching advanced forms of medicine, and one of their discoveries had been a serum that drastically slowed the aging process. By Earth standards he'd be middle aged by now, but he didn't look a day over twenty-six, and according to his medical staff it would take a few decades to look any older than that. His wives had all received the same treatment. None were in any hurry to let time end their lives together, and they wanted to maintain their original bodies as long as they could before cloning new ones to transfer over to.
As the steam from his shower finally left the mirror's visage, his features came to light. His hair was a bit longer, and his beard had grown into a fine point. On the whole, the emperor was a man in his prime, a fact that caused the trillions of subjects under his command to rejoice. His rule was stability incarnate, and he worked hard to maintain it.
Smirking into the reflection of his face, his golden eyes began to glow with his compressed power as he branched his awareness out to touch the minds of his wives. He loved the calm thoughts that circulated their minds this early in the morning. Then he pulled back into himself and exited the refresher to get dressed. The girls could stay and be lazy but he had some ruling to do.
He had long ago renovated the hallways of the residential floor in the imperial palace to have open window plans. As such, the walk from his rooms to his office contained a clear view down at his capital city on Zygerria. He liked to be able to see his people moving about happily under his aegis as he went about his business. It kept what he worked to protect in perspective.
Of course, Thrawn was waiting for home when he opened his office door and took his customary seat behind his desk. The man seemed incapable of not being at some form of attention whenever he was in the palace.
"Thrawn, good to see you, as always. What do we have to discuss today?"
"I have the new economic statistics for the outer rim worlds. We need to go over them and decide which is best suited for the latest trade contracts with the core."
"Excellent. Just let me call Lily in here first. She needs more training in the economic side of the empire. Plus her friend Leia might be able to advocate for Tattoine."
"Excellent idea, my liege. I will make the call right away." Thrawn stepped out to comm Bastila for the princess's current location, and Harry began checking up on emails from his other children. He had so many now, and he loved them all so much. His position as the emperor was important, but his role as a father always came first. Each of his wives had given him at least three children. Four in Shaak's case. He'd been worried that they'd be alone at the top of the social ladder, but the Jedi suddenly bringing back the freedom to marry had led to legions of force sensitive children, and many had become inseparable from his own. The Imperial Academy found itself training a great deal of them along with the Jedi Temple. Normally he'd not have allowed any of his children to become indoctrinated to the ways of the Jedi Order, but Yoda had instituted a staggering number of changes to their ways, and chief amongst them was a new code to understand the Force that emphasized the need for balance between both light and dark instead of choosing one over the other. Harry found he could easily deal with his kids learning that if they wanted.
It was the emails from those children gone away to train at those two institutions that he was reading now. Oh but the kiddies were growing up so fast. Soon they'd be wanting to make their way in the galaxy just like his precious Lily. It was a thought that made him both proud and sad. He supposed all parents felt that way sometimes.
He'd just finished up his replies when the door opened once again and Thrawn returned, a worried frown on his face. "Emperor Rache, I've got some disturbing news." Knowing exactly how badly this was likely to go over, the Grand Admiral internally groaned and said, "Princess Lily is…. missing."
The formerly bright room grew dark in an instant as a veritable dark tide of energy began to steam off the Emperor's shoulders and his eyes hardened. "Repeat that, Thrawn, and be very clear."
Thrawn steeled himself against the pure malevolence emanating from his liege. "She is not in her rooms and her biosignature is not showing up anywhere in the palace. I tried contacting Bastila and the other Nightsisters but none answered."
By now the air was growing chilled as well and as he spoke, Harry's breath misted with frost before his lips. "I'm assuming you have theories."
"Yes. The experimental cruiser, Servitor, was just reported stolen from R and D. As you know it was created to travel via the mass relay. Lily has always sought to establish her own legend, so I believe she intends to use it and go down in history as the woman who first discovered a new galaxy."
Snapping to action at once, Harry ordered, "Then contact the orbital sentries and blockade the relay! That thing hasn't been tested near enough to be considered safe for her."
Thrawn's wrist terminal lit up at his words, and as the Chiss examined its readings he frowned and said, "It appears we are too late. Our scanners picked up the relay's activation mere moments ago. The princess is gone."
For a couple seconds all the emperor did was stew in his chair, but then the very walls began to creak and groan with the pressure of his wrath and worry. "Thrawn, we don't know what is on the other side of that relay."
"No, sir, we do not."
"We don't know if Lily will be in danger over there."
"Indeed."
Harry's eyes sought Thrawn's own and the tactician was suddenly absorbed in a gaze of golden intensity. "Ready the Eastern fleet."
"My liege?" Thrawn questioned.
"Lily has gone into a potentially hostile area of space alone and we will be going to her aid."
"My liege, Harry, bringing a force that large into a foreign territory will be seen as an act of war."
"I. Don't. Care." Harry snarled. "I will not allow my little girl to be lost and alone! Now do as I say and get the fleet ready. You have enough Mass Effect field generators for the Star Destroyers right?"
"Yes, and they can generate enough synthetic eezo to cover the support ships in their vicinity. We will need at least three hours to transport them from R and D and install them however."
"Get it done." The oppressive atmosphere of the room didn't disappear when the emperor stood up, it was more like it coalesced and concentrated back into his body. "I'll inform my wives. Be prepared to leave the moment the ships are ready."
Thrawn slammed a fist to his chest in salute. "It will be done."
Like a thunder cloud a short time later Harry marched back into his bedroom and wrenched open the doors to his combat closet. The action of course woke his wives from their idle snoozing and brought them rapidly to his side.
"My love, what is it?" Shaak Ti asked, sensing his controlled rage and worry.
Throwing on his black battle robes, beskar chest plate, royal greaves, and cloak, Harry answered, "It seems our daughter has gone and run off through the Mass Effect Relay."
Nothing else needed to be said as Shaak immediately went to her own dresser to get ready, and so great was Harry's focus that he didn't even consider turning to admire her naked form as she did so.
"You know," Asajj added as she too began to don her robes, "we really should have seen this coming. That girl is far too focused on meeting your legend to not do something so far off the rails."
"Not the time, Asajj." Bo-Katan muttered as she started to slip on her armor. "Focus on the present. Do you think our husband will be able to focus on literally anything at all while she's missing?"
The veritable storm cloud of dark side energy surrounding their man's body was answer enough.
Finally finished dressing, Harry attached his lightsaber horizontally to a clip on the small of his back and addressed the last of his wives. "Hermione, Zannah, I need you to stay here and look after the Empire and the little ones while I am gone."
They didn't like it, but by far they were the two with the most governmental experience, and it was their children who were still small enough to live at home, so they agreed readily enough and left to take his former place in the Emperor's office. From there they'd be able to take direct control of the management of the many worlds under his aegis while he was gone. None would have tried to convince him to stay in the state he was in.
So it was that the four heavily armed and armored rulers made their way through the palace halls earning the shocked whispers of countless servants and courtiers with every passing step until they reached the very top of the tallest tower on the structure where their flagship, The Rancor, was moored, floating in the sky. Over the years it had been upgraded to the Imperial Star Destroyer specifications and now measured an entire 19,000 meters in length. Thousands of people worked on its crew and it was kept at a constant state of readiness by the orbital defense force. The dark lord stalked through endless lines of salutes and shouts of 'Praise to the Emperor' until he reached the throne room on his bridge. It didn't take long for the craft to raise into orbit and jet off to the relay where the rest of his fleet was building up its presence.
In hundreds and thousands they arrived. An entire fourth of his naval might, the Spear of the Empire, and each one was ready to bring down hellfire in his name. Since the clones had elected to become his interplanetary police force, the navy was built up of volunteers and career soldiers, and each one was heavily trained and knowledgeable about their jobs. It seemed that after the mess of a galactic civil war, the populace was very interested in making sure it never happened again. Having a military so large and powerful that no one wanted to fuck with it was kind of a big part of that.
He was still staring out the wall length viewport with his hands clasped behind his back when Thrawn finally came to him to announce the fleet was ready to head out. Asajj, Shaak, and Bo were standing vigilant beside him. They understood he wouldn't want to talk much in a time like this. He'd always been incredibly protective of his first daughter, and became very worried whenever she was far from his sight. They had had to keep him incredibly busy during her time away at the academy.
"How are the mass effect generators reading on the energy transfer?"
"Stable across the board. All we need is your order to activate."
"Do it."
Thrawn saluted and transmitted the order across his comm. Nearly an instant later every ship in sight lurched forward before being absorbed in an azure tube of compressed spatial energy.
"Well, this is certainly interesting." Shaak noted from the depths of her hood. "It's somewhat similar to lightspeed."
"Except it seems to travel farther distances." Bo-Katan said.
Asajj just shook her head, "This is too weird. What was wrong with our usual method of travel? It seems like we're only opening a bag of crypta-worms here by using this relay."
Shaak frowned, "Well that troublesome daughter of mine has just taken the matter out of our hands. We can't 'not' use the relay now. Ugh, I love her to death but she's just…."
"Strong willed?" Asajj answered. "By the Force I love that about our little girl."
Speaking up for the first time, Harry growled, "That 'little girl' forced us to mobilize the Eastern Fleet and charge into the unknown to rescue her ass. I swear when I find her she's going to get a serious talking to."
To his side, all of his wives were working masterfully to smother their gasps of hilarious laughter. Not a one believed for a single second that he'd be that strict with Lily. He'd not given her a serious talking to or even raised his voice in her presence a single time in her life. The younger Togruta was definitely a daddy's girl, and she had her father absolutely wrapped around her finger. Which was why it often fell to them to be the disciplinarians in their household.
For the next two and a half hours they traveled the distance of the new mode of travel before coming out into open space once more.
"Hm. I don't see the Servitor anywhere. Thrawn, pull up the tracker." Harry ordered.
The Chiss swiped a few buttons on his personal terminal and read over the readings. "Well, my liege, I have good news and bad news. The good news is that Lily is most assuredly in this galaxy. The bad news is that she's quite a ways away. I read her ship twelve parsecs away."
The emperor's eyes narrowed on the nearest star. "Which direction?"
Thrawn raised a solitary finger and pointed into the distance.
"Do not disturb me." Harry focused his will and slowly rose into the air, crossing his legs and folding his hands into his lap in a meditative stance. His eyes slowly folded closed and consciousness exploded from his body out into the greater galaxy. He saw thousands of stars, worlds inhabited with all kinds of life big and small, and finally a massive structure floating regally with tens of thousands of beings calling it home. That had to be it.
Focusing on its populace he began shifting through minds, intentions, and Force presences with the speed of a true master of the Dark Side, and eventually he found it. A clump of Dathomiri women and a lone Togruta. Yes, his daughter was there, but why was she surrounded by a bunch of humans? One theory came to the fore of his mind then. One reason why she would not have returned the moment after reaching the other side and making history. Lily had been kidnapped just as he feared.
Coming back to himself in an instant he descended back to the floor and ordered, "Bring the fleet up to battle ready status and be ready to issue a warning. I'm going to lead us to the people that have taken my daughter and the moment we arrive we'll give them a choice. Give her back, or face the Iron Rain."
After The Ultimatum Was Given
Lily gulped as her ship pulled into the hanger and she was met by the stern glare of her mother at the end of the extending gangway. She ducked her head as she, Shepard, Anderson, and Tevos walked down to meet her, the Nightsisters wisely choosing to follow at a distance.
"Young lady," Shaak demanded when the group finally reached her, "just what in the Force were you thinking?!"
The younger Togruta winced at the tone. "I-I just wanted to make my own name. I wanted to do something to be worthy of dad's throne. I know you all say it doesn't matter, but I want to earn it."
"Running away with a stolen ship is not the way, dear. What would have happened if something went wrong? Your friends' deaths would have been on your hands."
"They knew the risks going in."
"Say that again when they lie bleeding at your feet for actions and paths you sent them on. You went alone to a potentially hostile and unexplored galaxy. Had you come to me with this, or your aunt Asajj, we'd have arranged an escort."
"Y-You would have?"
"Lily, when have we ever limited you? It is the dream of every parent to see their child excel. And yes, we know how overprotective your father is so we'd have arranged to tell him of the journey after you'd returned. This journey could have been your crowning achievement. Now, however, your father has gone off the rails and nearly declared war."
"Oh. How is he?"
"You disappeared and seemed to be kidnapped. How in the Force's name do you think he is?"
"Oh." Lily winced anew, "Has he started crackling with lightning yet?"
"It's even worse than that time you took off to Dathomir with the Nightsisters for a World Communion party."
"Yikes."
The humans had been going back and forth between the conversationalists for a bit, but finally tiring of the wait, the Asari finally pushed her way forward to stand before what was clearly the princess's mother. "I am Tevos, a member of the Council of Citadel Races. Are you who I am to speak to?"
Shaak looked her fellow alien up and down and shook her head. She was not impressed. Not that the woman was hard to look at, but she had a clear impression in the Force of haughtiness and superiority. That wouldn't stand in her husband's presence. "I'm afraid not. I am Shaak Ti, First Empress of the Sith Empire. It is my husband you will be meeting with. Come with me, and Lily, I suggest working on your apology on the way."
The group started following Shaak, and Shepard fell back to talk to her sulking friend. "So that was your mom, then?"
"Yeah."
"She's kind of intense."
Lily scoffed, "If you think she's tough, wait until you meet my dad. He's on a whole other level."
They were led to a central lift that took them up to the bridge, where Grand Admiral Thrawn was waiting before the doors to the throne room in his crisp white uniform. Completely bypassing the expectant Asari diplomat, the Chiss walked through them all to bow before his princess. "Princess Lily, it is a joy to have you back."
With clear fondness, the Togruta answered, "It's good to see you too, Thrawn. Sorry about all this."
"Don't worry about it. It's nice to see our readiness drills kept our forces ready to deploy at the drop of a hat. If nothing else, this was a good training exercise." He gazed out at the view of the Citadel and sighed, "Even if it was an exercise against such primitive foes."
"Primitive!" Tevos barked out, stomping over to the Blue skinned man. "I'll have you know that the Citadel features the most advanced weaponry and ships in the cosmos."
"Then I truly fear for the future of your civilization, Councilwoman." Thrawn answered. "Just think, if a less reasonable empire of similar strength to us were to find you through their mass effect relay, you'd be crushed in a matter of seconds."
"And you think you could defeat us that easily?" She spoke with pride and spite, hardly thinking of the words leaving her mouth.
In answer, Thrawn looked out the viewport at the massive naval fleet basically making the Citadel itself their bitch, and the councilor looked away with embarrassment. She was six hundred years old and already had let her temper slip. "Let me put it this way. Your kind still seems to use primarily projectile based weaponry with paltry energy shields. Granted, these are advanced forms of projectile weapons, but our basic rifles could cut through your troops like bantha butter."
"I… don't know what that is."
"A very soft substance. Suffice it to say, we could end your entire race if we chose."
Tevos was very nonplussed by this bit of information and looked away once more as the group moved up around her and the door opened to admit them into the throne room. A woman in strange armor blocked their path for a moment with her hands on a pair of pistol grips, but she soon moved out of the way.
The space they found themselves in was surrounded on all sides by an open view of space, and a large walkway led across an expanse of dark light to a set of stairs that rose into a dais where an elaborately carved throne was waiting. Sitting at an angle on that throne was a slim woman in dark robes with ash colored skin, and standing beside it with his back to them, staring out at the dark void, was a man that could only be the emperor.
This was the first time Shepard would see him, and she was incredibly impressed. His form was tall, wide shouldered and strong, and he was dressed impeccable in a set of dark robes and armor of a design and type she'd never seen a likeness to. Even without looking at the clothing, he radiated a regal air of power and malice. And was that a crackling of electricity arcing over his shoulders?
Leaning over, the redhead asked Lily, "That is your dad?"
"Ugh, yeah." Lily nervously began smoothing down her robes.
"But he's so young?" Even from behind she could tell that much. There was no gray in his hair that she could see.
"Advanced medicine. He's older than he looks. Trust me."
Any further conversation was interrupted by a voice overflowing with authority. "Asajj, I sense my daughter is in the room."
"She is, my love." The now named Asajj remarked.
Continuing in that same steely tone, the emperor continued, "But that can't be right. My daughter is smart, and capable, and she would not run off in a stolen ship to a random new galaxy without at least telling one of us. So this can't be my daughter because Lily should still be at home."
"Maybe it's a clone, Rache."
"No, we have none scheduled to be grown on the books for her for another ten years. She'd not have a need for a backup body for at least that long." (Each member of the royal family had a clone in case of substantial bodily injury for a memory transfer).
"Excuse me, Emperor… Rache, was it?" Tevos strutted forward. This wasn't an advantageous position, but she was a matriarch of the Asari and a Council member to boot. She refused to wait out a family squabble when there was an enemy force threatening an attack. "I am Councilor Tevos and-"
She was cut off by a raised hand from the emperor. Continuing his practice of not looking at the group he pointed at the ground in a very particular place and a second later lighting shot from his fingertips, bounced off the floor, and sent the Asari woman flying back across the polished ground where she lay still, gasping for breath and shuddering with the new current of electricity in her veins.
"Guests should know to wait their turn." Harry ground out, making the humans flinch with worry.
Speaking under her breath to Shepard, Lily noted, "Okay, this is really bad. He's not looking at me."
Responding in the same way, Shepard wondered, "That's what's bad? Not shocking out an emissary?"
"He doesn't like rude people that are full of themselves. That's par for the course."
"Okay then, so why exactly is it bad that he won't look at you exactly?"
"Cause it means he's actively trying to stay mad at me." Lily's green eyes started turning warily back and forth from her father to Asajj, who was staring at her with an expression that clearly said, 'Don't look at me. This is your problem'.
"You know," Harry continued, "I was just so worried about my little girl, lost, alone in the dark, and without me to watch out for her. I still remember when she would crawl into my bed because she had a bad dream and there were monsters in the shadows." Lily cringed and avoided looking at Shepard at those words. "And so when she disappears I go looking, and then I find her surrounded by armed strangers. How else am I supposed to take this but as an aggressive action?"
"D-Dad?" Lily stepped to the front of the group and started climbing the stairs before kneeling behind him. "I-It's fine, really, they just wanted to meet me cause I was a new species."
"I'm sorry, but I thought I just heard something on the wind. But we're in space and there is no wind here, so it must have been my imagination. I could have sworn I heard my disobedient daughter defending her kidnappers."
"You did, my love." Asajj came back, crossing one leg over the other and reclining further into the throne to enjoy the show. She absolutely loved it when her mate went full Sith. He was always incredibly passionate in bed afterwords. She made a note to remind herself to ready his favorite restraints for her later.
"Look," Lily tried again, "maybe I handled this the wrong way, but I wanted to do something unique, and daring, and, well, I did. And it wasn't all bad. I discovered a new planet, a new galaxy, and this one has Earth!"
Her father grew still. "What did you say?"
"Earth, your homeland, it is here, in this galaxy."
From the slight lessening of oppression in the atmosphere of the chamber, Lily knew that news pleased her father greatly, but he still did not turn around.
"That doesn't excuse what you did, Lily."
"I know, but, daddy…" She said the last with her softest voice, his shoulders locked, and the Togruta knew she had him, "I only wanted to make you proud."
He sighed, "I am proud of you, Honey. I am always proud of you. But this… you scared me. Do you even understand how much?"
"I do, and I'm sorry."
"You swear to me that you came here of your own accord and that these people were not holding you against your will?"
"It's the truth."
"What about the tentacle bitch with the bad attitude?"
"She's one of three who rule this galaxy. They're all assholes."
"And these humans?"
"They're all from Earth, and they're hunting a fugitive named Saren. He's the worst person I've met in this galaxy. He actually called me a filthy alien."
The former oppression came back with a vengeance at those words. "Come again?"
A bit shocked by this reaction she said, "He called me a filthy alien?"
Lightning was beginning to crawl over the Sith Lord's shoulder's once more as he exclaimed, "That raging piece of shit had the nerve to call my perfect, beautiful, talented, and amazing daughter such a derogatory thing!" In a blink he apparated from the viewport and reappeared directly in front of his daughter, staring into her eyes, "Show me his face."
Lily gulped anew and opened her mental defenses, letting her father into her memories of her meeting with the Council."
He pulled out a second later and acknowledged, "This Saren is a dead man." Then his eyes scanned over the younger Togruta's face and all darkness, oppressive Dark Side energy, and lightning disappeared at once as a massive smile lit his features and he swept his daughter into his arms spinning her around and rubbing his cheek against hers affectionately.
"Oh, Lily, I was so, so, worried about you!" He set her down and began examining her for any signs of injury. "Are you hurt, dehydrated, have you been eating your snacks like the doctor's ordered? Your metabolism is a lot higher than ours you know."
Behind them, Shepard leaned over to Anderson and said, "Something tells me this is what Lily meant when she said he wasn't looking at her cause he was trying to stay angry."
In return, the admiral mentioned, "I've seen fathers with soft spots for their kids before, but this is ridiculous."
Meanwhile Asajj was groaning in disappointment. There went her sexy outraged Sith. Aw well, time to be an aunt. She hopped off the throne, pushed her man away, and wrapped her niece in her own arms. "Little one, you don't just go running off without at least letting your godmother know."
"Sorry, Aunt Asajj. I had Bastila and the others with me, though."
"Well there is at least that."
"Wait, wait, wait," Admiral Anderson couldn't take it anymore, "you waltz in here with a giant fleet, threaten us with annihilation, and curb shock a Councilor, only to just make up like it's nothing?"
Harry stared the military man down. "We're family, Anderson. What do you expect?"
"You know my name?"
"I have seen my daughter's memories." His eyes traveled to Shepard and the Commander felt the full presence and might of his power pressing down on her in an instant. "And I have seen her regard for you." He growled. "I will be keeping an eye on you."
Shepard physically shivered under that look. She'd stared down the teeth of a thresher maw and even that had not made her as scared as this man's cold regard.
"Come." The Emperor turned on his heel and marched down the walkway back toward the bridge. "We will have dinner and discuss what has happened and what will happen." Behind him, Asajj followed with a raised hand directing the floating and unconscious form of Tevos after her man.
"What do you mean 'what will happen'?" Anderson wanted to know.
"Exactly what I said. Saren is a dead man. He has insulted my little Lily and thus has given up any right he had to live. It is up to us to decide how that is to be best brought about."
