Standard Disclaimer: I own nothing in regards to Harry Potter, Mass Effect, or Star Wars. All properties therein are those of their creators. I am only a writer working on my skills with worlds and characters that I love.
Note: A few people have mentioned this and I will clarify. Yes, the cover image is what Harry looks like now, and when he is in his Emperor Mode he is basically a younger Emperor Vitiate incarnate.
Note: I have a couple of new stories in the works that I think you are all going to enjoy. The first is a Harry Potter / Tokyo Ghoul crossover that should either have the first chapter posted tonight or tomorrow. Another is a Harry Potter / Invincible Crossover that should be posted within the next couple days.
Note: I've had a few more comments about the number of stories on my page so I find myself once more needing to say this:
-I do not have a set schedule for when stories get updated. I write when I have time with my schedule and editing takes even longer.
-I write what I want when I want. This is a hobby for me and I write what pops into my head and what makes me happy. When I force myself to focus on only one thing and crank out chapters it leads to stress, work that isn't up to my usual level, and annoyance with a hobby usually makes me smile.
-As seen with a couple of my other recent updates, none of my stories are dead or abandoned. Sometimes fresh ideas take a while or I have temporary writer's block. It happens and I deal with it.
Chapter Three - Picking A Fight
Harry led his impromptu retinue out through the bridge and down three elevators to a grand dining room. It was amazing what all you could fit into a ship of the Rancor's size. Especially when one had access to space expansion runes. He sat Lily at his right hand with Shaak next to her, Asajj at his left with Bo, and he pretty much allowed everyone else to choose whatever seats they wanted at the round dining table. He was a bit annoyed that Shepard ended up directly across from his daughter, but there wasn't much to do about that. Tevos he just left lying on the floor.
"So tell me, who is this Saren?"
Admiral Anderson cleared his throat, looked nervously to the fallen Councilor, and answered, "A SPECTRE of the Council is a man or woman given immunity by law and unlimited means to carry out the Council's will. Saren is one of the worst. His brutality is legendary, as is his xenophobia and hatred of humanity in particular. I…. I was once a SPECTRE candidate myself, and he made sure I failed my test mission from the start."
"Sounds like a Grade-A asshole. If he's remained on the job after all of that I imagine he is quite effective. An interesting quarry to be sure." He looked to the Dathomiri, "Looking forward to the hunt, Asajj?"
"Oh, of course. It's been ages since we brought down a quarry together."
Shaak agreed as well. "I still have the spears ready. Should we impale him when we catch him?"
"Mooooom." Lily complained, "You promised I could kill the next enemy of the state."
Shepard was aghast listening to this casual conversation. "You realize you are talking about hunting down and murdering a SPECTRE? If one of us did that it would be tantamount to treason. You doing it will be seen as an act of war."
Harry moved his golden gaze around the table of his women, and then casually around the expanse of the room itself. "Does it look like I or any of mine care about the prospect of war with your Council? I can almost guarantee that should our two sides engage in military maneuvers, yours would be decimated and destroyed in a very, very, short time."
From her forgotten place on the floor, Tevos shivered, jerked, and with creaking and stuttering movements, hoisted herself into a nearby chair, still shuddering in place all the while. "T-T-There i-is another way." She wheezed out. Was the Asari furious about her treatment on this vessel? Yes. Was she humiliated by the fact that her position and prestige apparently meant nothing? Absolutely. But was she also scared shitless by this man and the forces and powers at his apparent disposal? Abso-fucking-lutely.
With amused eyes, Shaak inquired, "Do tell, Councilor. If you can actually manage to be diplomatic this time, that is."
Swallowing her bile at the reminder of her electrocution, Tevos took a moment to try and regain some measure of control of her body. It took only a few moments, but for an Asari Matriarch like herself, that was wholly unacceptable. Her limbs finally stopped jerking around and the usual measured tone returned to her voice. "By the will of the Council I can raise Commander Shepard to the rank of a SPECTRE. If she goes with you and carries out Saren's execution at your side, then the will of the Council will still be in effect, and your actions will not be a direct murder of one of our agents."
"That would be perfect!" Lily cheered, earning amused looks from her mother and aunts, along with a glare from her father. "Father, please agree. This gives us the perfect chance to avoid war and see that asshole Saren put eight feet under."
Bo-Katan chuckled beneath her helmet, "Please, Lily, if you think your father is going to leave even one atom of Saren's cellular structure behind on this plane when he is done with him, then you have a very limited idea of the scope of his vengeance."
Placing a hand on his arm, Shaak whispered in her husband's ear, "This is a good compromise, beloved. Remember, peace is always preferable until the ley of the land is known. Would it not be better to research this new galaxy before conquering it?"
Seeing the wisdom of that suggestion, Harry nodded. "I will agree to this. Commander Shepard can join us if she wishes."
"After what happened on Eden Prime, hell yes it is what I wish." The redhead declared, earning a pleased nod from the Admiral seated next to her, and a wicked grin from the youngest Togruta in the room.
"Now we can-" The emperor's voice cut off and his head shot to the side, earning confused looks from all present.
"Beloved?" Shaak Ti asked, hoping to find an answer for such strange behavior.
"A pulse just came through the force, a… call for help. I will return shortly." A blink of an eye later and Harry had apparated away from the dining chamber, just as the serving staff came in with several trays of food.
"I hate it when he does that." Asajj grumbled.
"Agreed." Bo nodded, "He could at least take us with him. I'm supposed to be his bodyguard."
The Citadel - Lower Levels
Tali'Zorah, or Tali as she was commonly known, found herself running for her life down the confined hallways of the bowels of the massive space city, firing blindly over her shoulder at pursuers she could only barely see in the shadows. Why did this shit have to happen to her? She only wanted to complete her pilgrimage, find something useful to bring back to the Migrant Fleet, and earn an honorable position on a vessel of her own. Now here she was, having 'accidentally' learned too much about one of the most hated SPECTRES in the galaxy. How was she to know it would get her hunted like a womp rat in the gutters?
Of course she'd tried to offload the recording she'd received safely. Holding onto something like that was a death sentence, but it seemed the stories of the Shadow Broker's reliability were completely unfounded. The Bosh'tet had clearly sold her out and alerted these goons to her present location! So she'd ran, fired to gain distance, and rapidly searched for any sign of help or police she could locate. Why were there none anywhere to be found? She needed help!
She was just rounding another corner when her body impacted something incredibly solid and sent her careening and sliding down the floor into the wall. Not for the first time she thanked the ancestors for the wisdom to use ballistic shielding in her facepiece as the impact was quite jarring. As she picked herself back up, groaning all the while, she found herself being helped back to her feet by a rather exceptional looking human with golden eyes, a beautiful beard, and a kind smile on his face.
"Greetings, Stranger. Was it you who called me?"
"W-What?"
"Help. I heard a call for help in the Force, was that you?"
"I don't know what that means-"
She was cut off as the first of the pursuers caught back up and saw her standing with the new addition, "She's here!" He raised his rifle to fire at Tali's apparent rescuer, who sighed with annoyance as he wrapped his hand around a strange cylinder at the base of his spine.
The Quarian suddenly found herself stupefied as the attacker fired, expecting her savior to be blown away, only to find him standing in the same place with a glowing, and humming, crimson… laser sword in his hand.
"Projectile weapons again? Are all of your lot so primitive?" As he spoke the other attackers joined their fellow, and the mystery man smiled. "Perfect, all the pins lined up in a row." Then he activated a second blade from the other side of the handle and tossed the thing straight down the hall. It only took a moment for the rotating object to cross the distance, and when it did, the wildly spinning twin blades cut through the crowd as if they were made of butter. Tali could only watch with shock as fifteen men, human and Turian alike, hit the ground without their heads and or torsos.
The Quarian fell to her knees as the reality of the situation hit her. She was finally safe again. "Y-You saved me. Thank you."
"Of course, you called and I answered. It was only right."
"But I didn't call for you. I was looking for help but there wasn't anyone here. I didn't even have a radio to broadcast an SOS."
With a mysterious glint in his eye he said, "The Force works in mysterious ways. My name is Harry, though most refer to me as Rache. What is yours?"
"Tali'Zorah. Though many call me Tali." She responded in kind.
"Well, Tali'Zorah, would you like to accompany me to someplace that is actually safe?" He held out his hand, and the alien took it with one of her own, her three fingers curling easily around his five.
"I would like that very much."
She didn't know what she expected to happen next, but feeling like she was being pulled through a gravity well and dropped into an entirely new location in an instant was not it. For a moment she felt as if she were about to hurl within the confines of her environmental suit, an action that would have horrifying ramifications considering she lived inside it, but the urge passed with a few deep breaths.
The room was amazing. Rich architecture, aliens the likes of which she'd never seen, and a throne of all things. Of all the experiences she'd had on her pilgrimage so far, this might just be the most impressive.
Introductions went quickly from there around the table, and Tali was astounded to learn that a literal emperor had deigned to come to her rescue, and was more than a little impressed to learn he'd made the Council his bitch. The Quarian race didn't have a great opinion of that governing body considering they'd refused to offer aid to their people following the Geth Uprising.
A blush came to her cheeks when the suave ruler of men offered her a fresh seat at his side, even going so far as to pull the actual chair out for her, and she took it without complaint. She would not wish to be seen as rude.
Beside her, the tall, regal, red and white, woman inquired, "Why were you being attacked, Ms. Zorah? If the Force told my husband of your need, then it must be important to our task."
When she informed them that she was in possession of an audio recording that implicated Saren in a conspiracy, she was met with both wild exuberance from the strangers and a constipated look of annoyance from Councilor Tevos. Then when she actually played it she received looks of appreciation and praise.
"Tali, this has been most helpful to us. Is there anything we can do for you for bringing that recording here?" Harry wanted to know.
Still feeling more than a bit bashful to be in her current surroundings, and under his stare, the Quarian woman stuttered out, "I-I would like it v-very much if I could join you all."
That raised a few eyebrows around the table. "Really?"
"You are going after Saren." She spoke with a bit more confidence. "It is because of him that I was just being chased and shot at. What is more, you saved my life, Emperor Rache-"
"Harry. If you travel with us you will be using my name."
"H-Harry, then. You saved my life, so it is only right that I travel with you until I have returned the favor. Finally, this ship is beyond anything I have ever seen before. I desire very much to learn what makes it work."
Tevos haughtily said, "More like she wants to see what isn't nailed to the ground so she can steal it and take it back to the Migrant Fleet. Do not trust her, Lord Rache, or her people."
In answer to that statement, Harry hit the Asari with another lightning blast containing enough concussive force to send her flying across the room to land in a jittering heap as her nerve endings began to fry from within. He hit her also with an offhanded low grade healing charm to head off any mortal injuries after seeing the expectant glare of Shaak Ti. "I am new to this galaxy, yet even I can tell that statement was more than a bit racist. Also, I am an emperor, not a lord. Use the correct title or do not speak to me at all. You are a diplomat after all."
It took a while for Tevos to regain control of herself, and it was with no small amount of terror that she crawled back into her seat at the table. Never, not even during her days in the Asari Commandos, had she experienced fear and pain such as this, or a foe this powerful. How was it possible for a human to command such powers, mystical and military? They were a primitive and backwards race. It made no sense!
Addressing the Quarian once more, Harry said quite warmly, "I would be delighted to have you with us. I'm sure you will prove yourself invaluable on this mission. In fact, once this meeting is done I can arrange a full tour of my vessel for you."
"T-Thank you, Harry."
"No thanks are necessary, it is my pleasure to cater to my guests."
From her seat beside him, Harry could practically feel his daughter rolling her eyes at his antics.
"Now," he continued, "We must devise the best way to hunt this asshole down. It is impractical to keep my entire fleet floating here, so I will send them back on standby status and maintain our transportation with the Rancor." He looked at Anderson and Shepard, "Your vessel can be housed in the hold."
"Will it fit?" the admiral wanted to know. "The Normandy is quite large."
Answering for her husband, Bo said, "Trust us, there is plenty of room."
"Yes," addressing the still twitching Tevos he said, "I trust I will not need to call the fleet back to deal with you lot for attacking me once they are gone? Surely you would not be stupid enough to declare war on my people by trying to preemptively end the leader of a foreign power?"
To be honest, Tevos had been considering just that. The Eastern Fleet as it had been called had scared her terribly, and the thought of removing the head of such a deadly force had been circulating her mind, but three things had stopped her from continuing that train of thought. The younger red skinned girl, the woman that was clearly her mother, and the other 'wives' of this emperor. He was bound to have multiple offspring which meant a potential hoard of heirs coming down on her people like an asteroid shower for vengeance. She couldn't risk sending the Commandos after this man. Not until she learned more. Even if the way she had been treated so far was beyond what any Asari could be expected to take. Practicality beat out vengeance every time in her mind. And if there was a chance to copy or outright steal some of the wonderful tech she'd seen so far to improve the Asari race and put them even further ahead of the others in the galaxy than they already were… all the better. She needed to survive here long enough to return to the other Council members and set up surveillance and spies to investigate this 'emperor' and his domain. If that meant playing nice here then that was what she would do.
Trying to summon once more her noble bearing, the Asari said, "We of course would not be so foolish. Though I will say that I recognized one of the voices on that recording. It was Matriarch Benezia, a respected member of the Asari government, now clearly gone to follow unsavory elements. At the very least, she and Saren are working with the Geth, a known hostile element in this galaxy. For the evidence brought forth by your group, and the Quarian, both she and Saren are to be stripped of their ranks and Council protections. You are authorized to bring them to justice."
That piqued Asajj's interest and she leaned forward on her elbows. "What kind of threat is this Benezia?"
"A powerful biotic with many followers. The stories of her military prowess are practically legend."
"Perfect." The Dathomiri purred as she pictured the grand fight to the death to come.
"We need leads." Harry's golden eyes crossed from face to face.
Anderson cleared his throat and said, "Considering the Geth presence on Eden Prime, it might be a good idea to look for them. We've had reports of their presence on both Feros and Noveria to be precise."
The Asari nodded, "Saren does have considerable business holdings there." At the interested looks of the other table members she added, "SPECTRE stock holdings are open and known to all of the Council. The practice was supposed to keep our agents from hiding corruption and bribery."
"Fat load of good that did." The emperor grunted. "What else do we have?"
Stifling down her outrage at yet another insult to the Council, Tevos added, "Matriarch Benezia has a daughter. A young paleontologist studying the remains of the Protheans. A species that ruled a vast galactic empire before our time and built the Mass Effect Relays. There is no proof she is involved with her mother's betrayal, but it seems likely she'd be able to provide some insight into her character and activities. It might be wise to track her down."
Harry agreed quite easily. "It is always good to intimately know the enemy you pursue."
"Her name is Dr. Liara T'Soni. The last the Asari Republics heard she was at a dig site in the Artemis Tau cluster in the Knossos System. The world is called, Therum. However, her communicators have recently gone dark so we are unaware of the current situation on the ground."
The emperor folded his hands beneath his chin in thought. "We will start with this Liara person. Anderson, contact your government and clear both your involvement and that of Shepard to accompany us. Lily, after we eat you will go to the training chambers and wait for me. You will train until you pass out for what you did today." As his daughter groaned he turned at last to Tevos, "And you, get off my ship."
"S-Surely we have more to discuss, Emperor Rache. Like it or not, the activation of your Mass Relay makes you a part of this galaxy. That mean trade deals, immigration protocols, extradition practices-"
"Did you not hear the mandibled fuck that insulted my daughter?" He interrupted. "I'm going to skin the flesh from his bones, and then we can discuss all of that tedious stuff."
Clearly not in agreement, Shaak said, "I will provide another of our wives, Hermione Granger, with a call channel to your Council. She handles many of our domestic policies and will be able to set up a system that works for all of us."
Glad for some small measure of compromise, the Asari tilted her head in the closest approximation to a bow her pride, and electrified spine, would allow. "My thanks."
"Your thanks are unnecessary. This is merely good international policy. Now please leave. You have already offered enough insult on this vessel." The door opened and a man and woman in crisp uniforms entered the chamber. "These two will escort you to the hangar where you can be transferred back to the Citadel. Once Adnerson receives his clearance our fleet will depart and the Rancor will commence its hunt."
After the door closed behind the trio, Bo asked, "You instructed them to take her to the hanger via the broadside artillery, yes?"
"But of course, Bo-Katan. It's always wise to remind people who wields the bigger stick. Now let us eat." So saying she waved a hand, and after learning what Tali's dietary needs were, returned a moment later with a protein based shake and straw. Then they dug in. Meanwhile, Admiral Anderson took a temporary leave to call the admiralty on his comms.
About twenty minutes later he returned and began to load up his plate. "My government needed some explanation for our situation, and they are not thrilled, but I have convinced them to assign Shepard and myself to a temporary change of duty status. We are cleared to accompany you."
"Perfect." Harry cheered before sliding over a plate of cookies, "Now have a cookie and explain to me what it would take to arrange a trip to Earth. I am eager to revisit some of my old stomping grounds."
Still very confused and fascinated by the idea that this larger than life, all powerful, galactic emperor came from his homeworld, Anderson suggested the use of an emissary or dignitary to provide introductions and make his peaceful intentions clear to the government of earth while they were hunting Saren. That way his passage would be allowed by the time they nailed the son of a bitch.
Harry nodded and glanced at his wives. "Satine?"
"Satine." They all agreed.
"I'll give Kenobi a call tonight and set her up with a ship and escort. That is, if he can get off her long enough to answer the phone. What is this, their tenth honeymoon in so many years?"
"If you ask me, they're trying for child number five." Asajj added with a smirk.
"Ugh, dad, please." Lily groaned, covering her ears, "I really don't need to hear about Uncle Obi and Aunt Satine's sex lives."
"Suck it up, young lady. You're still in the doghouse."
"Grr." She grumbled but nevertheless went back to quietly munching on her meal. Shepard watched the byplay with a smile. Lily had been so calm and in control during their flight to the Citadel, so it was rather amusing to see this side of her. It was clear she was a world class daddy's girl. Especially considering the way she kept unconsciously looking to her old man throughout the meal as if constantly searching for approval.
The meal lasted a good hour, and by the end they all came once more to the bridge where the helmsman was given the all clear to begin orienting the ship for launch. "Apologies for the wait, but we needed time to correlate all of your star charts to our method of faster-than-light travel. Relying on the relays is annoying in the extreme." Shaak explained as her husband took his usual place at the viewport. She knew he loved watching as the stars blurred together during takeoff.
"It's no trouble at all, Mrs. Potter." Anderson answered. "I and my people are merely happy to have been included in this… is that a ship ahead of us?"
Everyone turned to look and sure enough a small craft lay ahead of them. "That's not a cruiser, it's too small." Shepard noted. "It's a single person explorer class if I'm right."
"Hm." Harry mused. "Helmsman, open a channel." A bzz announced the act was done and he announced, "I don't know who the fuck you are, but you're in my way. Now move or get blown to bits as we pass by. Your choice."
"Ha! Big man with your big ship. Let me come aboard and say that to my face why don't ya." A voice like shifting rubble answered.
Not one to back down from a challenge, Harry answered, "I just might. Why are you holding us up?"
"I heard from a few contacts of mine in the Council Attendants that you're hunting Saren."
"What of it?"
"There's a bounty on his head from the Shadow Broker bigger than my sizable testicles and I want to collect. Figure you let me join you, you get to kill him, and I turn in the corpse. We all win."
"And why should I let you join me? What can you bring to the table?" Harry asked as he reached out with his senses. This fucker had balls to face off against a ship of his size… he respected that. So did the Force apparently, as it was practically screaming at him that this being had too important a destiny to be killed here for defying him.
"I'm a Krogan battle master with over a century of combat experience."
"That does sound useful, but all I have to attest to that is your word. Tell you what, I'll let you come aboard and you can fight me. If you last five minutes I'll let you tag along. If you fall, I'll confiscate your ship and send you off to the Citadel in an escape pod. What do you say?"
"I say you're on fleshbag. Get ready to feel a Krogan fist in your face."
The line went dead and the emperor turned to face his shocked bridge. "There's nothing quite like a fistfight to start a journey." He handed his lightsaber to a deeply amused Asajj and said, "Would you lovely people like to come watch?"
"Hell yeah, dad." Lily crowed, ecstatic to avoid her grueling training session. "Let's go."
As the group carried on down the halls, the emperor looked at Shepard and asked, "By the way, what exactly is a Krogan?"
