Before this story begins, I'd like to briefly mention something. If this is the first story of mine that you've seen (And that's going to sound weird, because as far as you can see there are no other stories on here) then skip past this and go straight into the story.

To those few that have actually read the previous two (unfinished) stories, you may have noticed that they have been deleted. Quite frankly, I just didn't like them. They were unfinished, barely coherent messes. The first one was me trying to do a multi universe crossover, and the second on had me turn Ruby into a sociopath, while failing to do so. I also had little to no real plan for how the stories would both go, only a vague idea of certain plot points. Trust me when I say that this story will not have that. This crossover will just be with one universe, and will mostly use OCs (I'm about 90% sure that only one character in this entire fic is actually a character in the 40k universe, and they're a pretty minor one at that).

Without further ado, let's begin.

Silence. That was all that greeted the lone sister. Silence… except for the whistling of the wind, and the rustling of leaves. Her purple eyes, adjusting to the light, opened slowly. She gazed up and found a clear, blue sky. The nearby trees, their leaves a bright shade of red, surrounded her for untold miles. Above her, the sun shone bright, it's warmth on her soft skin a welcome gift compared to the cold she felt moments ago.

Or was it moments ago? Her memory was foggy, and she could not recall the moments leading up to now. It could have been minutes. It could have been hours. For all she knew, it could have been days, perhaps even weeks at a stretch, since she was brought back into consciousness. At the very least, there were a few details that she remembered.

She was a proud Sister Superior of the Order of the Sacred Rose, for one. She was young for a superior, quite so, but her deeds proved her worthy to attain such a position. She also remembered the weapons by her side. She checked her hip, and found her bolt pistol still within it's pouch. On her other hip, her power sword remained sheathed. Her combi-bolter, one with a plasma gun, was nearby on the floor. Thankfully, she also remembered her name.

Selena Lethrya took one last look around her, before rising to her feet. She was not tired, surprisingly, but she still felt somewhat weak. Her arms felt a little bit sore, and her legs didn't fair much better. All things considered, not the worst state she's been in. The God Emperor was still with her, and for that she said a short prayer She reached for her combi bolter and picked it up. The plasma gun was only at half charge, but it was still worth a few good shots. She checked her magazine, and found it half empty. Not great, but not terrible. She patted down her pouches, and found that she still had three more magazines left. Two grenades were still strapped to her belt, and her other pouch contained an extra magazine for her bolt pistol.

She sighed, and took a better look at her surroundings. For as far as she could see, the red leafed trees surrounded her, and in the distance she could see a pair of large mountains. She had to admit, it was a beautiful sight, but she could not wait around. Right now, she had a different plan in mind. First, she had to find her fellow sisters. It was impossible, almost inconceivable, that she could be the only survivor here… wherever here was. Her second plan was to find out where she actually was. She still couldn't recall how she got here, only that here wasn't where she was supposed to be.

Sighing once more, she looked towards the nearby mountains. She didn't know how long it would take to get there, but having a high position to look from would do wonders in helping her figure out where she was. Gripping her bolter, she began her journey.

Selena sat on a rock, located in a clearing not too far from the mountains that were her destination. Five hours, that's how long it took to get here. Five relatively peaceful hours, in retrospect, but it still took the wind out of her sails. She could of gotten much further, if it weren't for the fact that her arms and legs still hurt. An hour of rest wouldn't hurt, and she doubted that any enemy forces would be in the forest. The only sounds that filled the place were the sounds of animals scurrying by and the wind rustling the leaves of the trees.

She lay down on the rock, her bolter still in her hand in case anything happened. The sounds of the forest did wonders to her down, and she wondered, at least briefly, if this was some kind of afterlife. It didn't feel like she was dead, but then again, what did death feel like? Perhaps her service to the emperor had reached it's end. She put her bolter down on a nearby rock. It was still within arms reach, but she doubted she would need it

A part of her mind told her that her service was not yet over, but it was clear as day that this place was… heavenly. More so than Cadia. That brief thought put her mood down a little. Cadia… that was another thing she remembered. She was born there, lived there, fought there. She still couldn't remember much, but there was one thing she wouldn't forget.

Cadia fell, and she was there to see it.

She pushed that thought away before it could eat at her. She was here, in a place unknown to her, and as far as she knew it was a million worlds away from Cadia. Right now, she had more pressing matters to deal with.

Like, for example, finding a comfortable position to rest. She put her hands behind her head, and she closed her eyes. The sun was still warm on her face, and it was approaching the late afternoon. Finally, after a few minutes, she fell asleep.

Hopefully, nothing would disturb her.

Selena's eyes widened as she heard something… strange. It was a low rumbling sound, and it wasn't too far off. She grabbed her bolter and stood up, looking around the forest for any clues as to the strange disturbance. As she got closer to the rumbling, she swore it sounded like a… train?

A train. That meant civilisation. That was both good and bad. Good, because it meant she might not be in the afterlife after all, and it also meant there were other people here. Bad, because there were other people here. She had no clue what she was getting into, and no clue who or what lay on that train. It could be other humans… or it could be a filthy xenos race that happens to exist in an industrial state. Either way, there still lay danger.

She silently approached the source of the sound. Then, it stopped. She could just make out a bunch of carriages stopping to a halt. Ahead of it, the rest of the train moved onward. That instantly piqued Selena's curiosity. Perhaps part of the train detached in an accident, or… or, someone detached it on purpose. That thought brought a number of different conclusions with it. One was that they were dropping off some cargo in the middle of the forest, and merely thought that this was a better way of doing it… for something odd reason. The other, the one that had Selena checking her bolter again, was sabotage.

She approached a ledge overlooking the now detached train carriages cautiously. Most of the train was dark black in colour, clearly standing out from the bright red forest that surrounded it. Even with the front carriages gone, it was a pretty large train. Something you'd use if your were transporting large shipments of supplies or vehicles. As she scouted out the train from the relative safety of the ledge, she noticed the robotic bodies that lined the thing. She even saw the wreck of a larger robot sitting on one of the carriages. There was a battle here, and the fact she couldn't see any bodies from the other side meant they won. A lossless victory was a rare, yet welcome one as far as she was concerned. It was then, as she gazed on the train, that her eyes drifted over to the stranger at the end of it.

Red hair. That was the first thing that stuck out about him. From here, she could see his black jacket, black pants and black shoes. He had his back turned to her, so she couldn't see much else, except for the red sword that lay in his hands, and the sheathe that lay on his hip. What caught her eye wasn't the sword In his hand, nor the way he looked into the distance, towards the rest of the train that had long since vanished.

No, what caught her eye was the black horns on his head. He was an abhuman. A disgusting, vile insult to all that makes humanity good. Her pragmatism only went so far, and the years of being told to suffer not the mutant made her feel anger at the creature standing there, completely obvious to her presence. She gripped the bolter in her hand, and slowly raised it, until her weapon lined up with his head. She was not going to stand by and let that abomination live. She should wipe him off the face of the world, with one clean sho-

Suddenly, another thing caught her attention. More rumbling. It sounded like a vehicle- No, like two vehicles moving towards the front of the carriages. Two flatbed trucks, to be exact. They looked primitive in comparison to the vehicles of the Imperium. They stopped at the front, and six men stepped out from both of the vehicles. She could easily make out the animal features on most of them, although one of them she couldn't quite make heads or tails of.

They were wearing white and gray uniforms, with weird white masks that left the bottom half of their face bare. They had black hoods, and she could see guns slung over their backs. All assault rifles, along with each member having a sword by their hip. They were some kind of militia, and if their demeanour was any indication, they weren't law abiding by any stretch of the word.

Selena decided that now was the time to get a little closer. She crawled along the edge, until she was overlooking the man with the red hair. She could see the white mask he had on, and the white shirt underneath his jacket. One of the men, probably an officer, or whatever passed for an officer, approached him.

"Good work, boss!" The man grinned. "Heh, we could see the fight all the way back there." He pointed behind him, and then waited for the red haired man to respond. He didn't speak a single word. He only stared into the distance. The underling climbed up onto the carriage, and walked over to the red haired man. "Uh, boss?" He paused. "...Adam? Where's… you know? Blak-"

Adam swung his sword around and pointed it right at the mans neck. "SHUT UP!" He paused, and then looked at the man for a few seconds, before lowering his sword. "Just… shut up, for a second. Let me… let me think." He look back into the distance. His head lowered a little. "...Gather up the dust, and any other supplies you can. We're moving out."

"...Sure." The man nodded, but asked one more question. "Uh, Where is-"

"Gone. She's… gone." Adam looked to the ground, and even with the mask Selena could see the confusion on his face. The other man simply nodded, then walked off.

Selena weighed her chances against the abhumans. On one hand, they looked under equipped, and with the exclusion of Adam they didn't look to be that disciplined or that well trained. She could take them in a fight, but abhumans were unpredictable. They were a blight on humanity, but they were cunning and possessed some rather unique abilities. She didn't want to hedge her bets on a fight against an unknown foe, so she elected to wait.

Perhaps she could find out some more info in the meanwhile.

"-and I kid you not, It had a glowing eye! Pissed myself right then and there, I tell ya."

"You sure you weren't drunk? I mean, come on, a flying skull? That sounds like the kinda shit out of a terrible horror movie."

"I wasn't drunk! I don't drink on the job and you know it!"

"I saw you sneak a swig of whiskey, don't you lie to me!"

"And I saw you sneak off with Rebecca last night!"

"The fuck does that have to do with anything!?"

"You can't hold anything over me!"

"WILL YOU TWO SHUT UP!" A woman shouted from one of the trucks. She just got finished carrying a box of dust, which is apparently valuable here. Unless the dust here is magic or something, Selena wasn't sure why anyone would bother collecting it. At the very least, she was thankful that the abhuman got the other two idiots to shut up.

Adam, their leader, sat alone against a tree. He was mulling over this 'Blake' women, and anytime someone came near him he'd glare at them until they walked away. Selena found it almost funny. Almost. She sighed, and tried to stretch her arms and legs a little. Being stuck in this position for the past hour wasn't doing her much good in the joint department.

One of the men pulled out a strange device, it was blue, and looked to be some kind of data pad. "Alright, listen up! Vale have already found out about our little jaunt, and they're sending in a bullhead along with a huntsman. They'll be twenty minutes out. The Grimm, on the other hand, will be ten minutes out. Okay people, let's hit the road!" The man entered one of the trucks, and everyone else went to their designated truck. Adam sat for a minute more before getting up and entering the truck. They drove off, heading back the way they came, leaving Selena alone.

That abhuman revealed three very interesting things. First, the existence of a settlement not too far from here. Second, the existence of something known as 'Grimm'. And finally, something or someone known as a huntsman. Both the Grimm and the hunstmen were on their way here, and if she stuck around for too long, she might end up encountering one or both of them.

Sighing, she picked up her bolter and stood up. Perhaps she could find something on that train to help figure out where she was.

Selena kept her bolter up and as she stalked through the train carriages. They were empty, for the most part, but she could clearly see the occasional destroyed robot or looted box of 'dust' as they called it. It appeared to be the name for some kind of weirdly coloured resource, which came in both pure crystal form and in powder form, although the latter were stored in separate jars. The abhumans looted whatever they could, then drove off with the rest.

Outside, the sun was slowly setting. Through all these years, she had never stopped to appreciate a good sunset before. The red leaves of the trees almost glowed as they fell onto the floor, the sun's light reflecting off of them. Her eyes drifted from the leaves on the floor to the pair of red eyes hidden within the treeline. It was hard to make out the figure they belonged to, but it was tall, and it's colour was pitch black.

It approached the ledge, and Selena gripped her bolter as she saw the hulking abomination appear. She could see clearly the bone white mask that covered it's face. Intricate red markings dotted the mask, and she could see the bones sticking out of the creatures slouched body. It looked almost like a werewolf, but it stood on it's hind legs instead of on all fours. It looked at her briefly, it's eyes piercing her very soul. Selena raised her bolter and aimed it at the creature, her reticule hovering over it's head. Then, she saw it.

Well, she saw them. Four more creatures approached, all looking nigh identical to the first one. Selena's steely gaze drifted towards them, just as their eyes went to her own. They were casing her out, looking for an opportunity to strike. And they found it.

One of the creatures leaped at Selena, it's arms poised to strike at her. Just as it jumped, she snapped her focus towards the abomination, and her gun came with it. She fired off two shots, both hitting the creature in the chest. It lost it's momentum and collapsed to the floor, the massive wounds in it's chest causing it to die, and then… dissolve? She saw the creature dissipate before her very eyes, it's corpse fading into nothing. She had little time to question it, before another creature jumped on top of the roof of a nearby carriage. She swung her bolter and fired off another two rounds. It dodged the first, but took the second right to the face. It's death distracted her from the other three creatures deciding to enter the fray.

One of the beasts took it's place on top of the carriage, and immediately turned to face her, prepared to leap once more. Before she could put it down, another creature leaped right at her, forcing her to focus on it instead. She fired off five rounds this time, three missing and two hitting it in it's left arm and at it's chest. It slowed the creature down, but it didn't die. She saw another beast successfully land on her carriage, before it charged right at her. She aimed up high, and fired one clean shot right at it's head. The creature's head exploded, and it soon dissolved. The final beast leapt at her, and she aimed at it.

Then the gun clicked, and nothing came out. It was empty. Before she could react, the creature swiped at her, hitting her with incredible power, before she slammed right into the door of another carriage. She tried to get up, but the creature charged right at her, and she was forced to just roll out of the way instead. The creature's body slammed into the carriage, but it quickly turned around to go for another attack.

Selena's hand fell to the grip of the sword that still lay sheathed by her side. The creature leapt at her, the thirst for blood clear in it's eyes. She pulled out the sword, the metal almost glowing as the power cell within charged it up. She raised it up, just in time too, as the creature came within striking distance. She swung right for the creatures arm, just as it swung for her.

The creature shrieked as it's arm came clean off, dissolving in an instant. The creature swerved out of the way, giving her a moment to stand up and brace herself for it's final attack. It charged at her madly, it's remaining arm coming in for another attack. It missed as she moved out of the way, and the creature crashed into the carriage once more. Taking her chance, she raised the sword and struck right for it's head. It came off in one feel swoop, the sword cutting through it's head like a hot knife through butter. The creature died, and finally dissolved.

Selena caught her breathe, then remembered the other beast that she wounded. It looked at her madly, and charged without any care in the world for it's own survival. It didn't live much longer, as she raised her sword and struck it, slicing it's head off in one fell swoop. She didn't even bother to look at the thing as it faded into nothing, her gaze focused more on the surroundings than the defeated enemy. She looked to the treeline, her eyes catching the creatures she intended to see. A dozen beasts, perhaps even two dozen, were visible from where she stood. They were approaching, fast, and all she had to defend herself was the bolter that still lay on the floor, the sword in her hand, and the pistol in her pouch.

She briefly wondered if she should retreat back into the forest from where she came, but the creatures would no doubt catch up to her. She would stand her ground, here and now.

She would probably die against such odds, but It was better to die on her own terms, then to die in some ditch deep within the forest.

She pulled the bolt pistol from her pouch, and gripped it tight in her hand as the first wave of these vile abominations approached. She stood at the ready, her bolt pistol pointed at one of the creatures.

"FOR THE EMPEROR!" She shouted out a battle cry as she fired off round after round into the coming horde. The first creature caught a bullet to the head, the gore splattering on a nearby tree as it died. Another beast found two rounds lodged into it's chest, slowing it down considerably. Another found three in it's chest, collapsed on the floor then fading away. Yet another caught two rounds to the head, instantly dissipating as the mad horde jumped over it and into the fray.

She stopped firing and readied her sword as one of the maddened abominations jumped right at her. She dodged to the side as it made to attack, and she quickly countered by slicing it clean in half. Another jumped onto the carriage and charged at her, slamming right into her, sending her sliding down on the ground. She jumped right back up, and took the chance to stab it right in the eye as it faced her. The creature dissipated, and she didn't even need to bother with pulling the blade from it's corpse. She raised her pistol and fired a round straight into another beast, it's momentum slowed as she sliced into it's chest, cutting it in half. Two beasts made to attack her at the same time, and she emptied two rounds into one of the beasts. It died then and there.

The other swiped at her, but she ducked under the attack, then took her chance and impaled the creatures chest with her bloodied blade. It dissolved, leaving the first wave dead. She looked to the forest, and reloaded her pistol. This time, she wasn't so sure she could deal with the numbers. Atleast thirty beasts were charging right at her, and she knew full damn well that this would be her last fight.

She readied herself, her faith in the emperor giving her the energy to fight one last battle. She pointed the bolter in her hand towards the approaching horde, and she readied her sword by her side. She heard something… strange in the sky. It was akin to the sound of aircraft, but she ignored it. She had bigger things to worry about.

The first creature approached, the madness in it's eyes ever clear to her. The beast leaped towards her, it's arms ready to strike. Selena raised her pistol, and prepared to fire. Only, she didn't need to.

Above her, a hail of bullets appeared. The creature gained two dozen extra holes through it's chest as a flurry of bullets struck it down, killing it in a matter of seconds. The horde found itself faced with a rain of bullets, as an unknown ally above her fired round after round into the mass of creatures. Selena looked up to the sky, and saw two aircraft above her. They look to be transport craft, since the only weapons on the pair of vehicles were the machine guns that saved her.

The mass was slowed down, the creatures dying by the dozen, but that did not stop them. They charged on anyway, with no care in the world for the inevitable deaths that faced them. Selena took her chance, first by sheathing her sword, then by grabbing the bolter that still lay on the floor. She reloaded it with the downtime she had, and then she turned to face the horde. A few of the beasts slipped by the hail of gunfire, and she elected to fix that. She fired off round after round into the group of beasts, the creatures falling one by one.

She stopped firing at her last ten rounds, and quickly made to grab her sword, just as one of the beasts jumped onto the carriage. She turned to face it, but instead of the beast attacking her, it turned it's attention to the sky, just in time for an icicle to fall right on it's head, impaling it into the ground.

An icicle? But it wasn-

Selena's train of thought derailed as a woman dropped down from the aircraft, landing gracefully onto the carriage. She was completely unharmed, and stood up as though she didn't just drop from God-Emperor knows how many metres above. Selena took in the appearance of the woman that stood before her.

She had light blonde hair, bright green eyes and light skin. She wore a pair of glasses, and Selena could see the pair of teal earrings she had on, which matched the pendant hanging around her collar. She wore a white, long sleeved blouse along with a black skirt, brown stockings, blacks boots and a purple and black cape. Selena had to admit, the woman had a style.

She looked towards a surviving creature, and summoned a bunch of icicles, before sending them barrelling towards the beast with her wand… or was it a riding crop? Either way, the creature was hit by the icicles, killing it. Four more beasts appeared, and the woman pointed towards one of the cargo crates, the ones filled with the weird red powder, next to Selena, before lifting it up with a wave of her wand, and chucking it towards the incoming group. It exploded on contact, sentencing the creatures to an almost instantaneous death.

No more creatures came, and whether that was due to the fact they ran away, or due to the fact they died, she didn't really care. Selena focused on the treeline, just in case any stragglers came by.

"Care to explain what happened here?" The woman spoke, startling Selena.

"Uh-" Selena tried to respond, but she was cut off by someone rappelling from the aircraft above her. He landed on the ground, and the aircraft got a little closer, while the other turned to face a different direction, towards the mountains. The man wore black trousers, black combat boots, a dark blue shirt and a black bullet proof vest with similar coloured pauldrons. He wore a black helmet, with a visor covering his face. His black combat gloves were gripped around the rope, and he had black kneepads. The word 'Vale P.D.' was visible on his vest. He had a rifle, a bullpup rifle to be exact, slung over his shoulder.

"We've got Nevermore coming in hot! Finish your conversation elsewhere!" He shouted over the sound of the bullheads engines. He signalled up to a man standing inside the transport. He was pulled back up, and Glynda looked towards the rope that was thrown down to her from above.

"How impatient." She grabbed onto the rope, and then looked towards Selena. "You. Your coming with me."

"And why should I come with you, pray tell?" Selena responded. She wasn't about to go with some random women who was, in retrospect, probably a psyker. The women didn't look to be cursed by the warp, but looks could be deceiving. Glynda looked at her, and she could swear that she saw the faint beginnings of a smirk creep up on her face. Glynda pointed her wand towards Selena, and as Glynda was pulled up towards the aircraft, the lone sister of battle felt a strange sense of… weightlessness.

She looked to the ground, and quickly realised that she was levitating upwards. She gripped her bolter, making sure not to let it go as Glynda made her float up and into the safety (Or danger, at this point she couldn't quite tell) of the Bullhead.

"Alright. Let's go."

"What manner of-"

"Nevermore in gun range! Light them up!" The man in the cockpit shouted over the comms, and she heard the machine guns of both craft rev up and fire round after round into the creatures that she just noticed coming towards them. The went down easily enough, but more came in the distance. "That's enough! This is Delta 2-1 to Homebase. We've checked out the train. Only one survivor, heading back to base. Copy, over."

The man waited, then once he got his response, he spoke again. "Alright then. Delta 2-2, we are heading out!"

Selena felt the craft turn around, before flying off towards this 'Homebase' the pilot spoke of. She gripped the bolter in her hand, and prayed to the God Emperor that this ship's destination wouldn't be Selena's last.

"-and I'll ask again. Who. Are. You?" The woman, Glynda Goodwitch as she was called, asked her in a rather… hostile tone. Granted, she hadn't answered any of the questions the woman asked in the past hour now, and she wasn't going to. She was stuck in an interrogation room, a pretty dark one with a single table, two chairs and a light above it. As far as she was concerned, she was in foreign territory, and she wouldn't give a single droplet of information. Not even her name passed her lips.

Glynda smacked her riding crop down in front of Selena, and it did… well, it did nothing. Years spent listening to the sounds of explosions and gunfire made the sound of someone smacking the table like an impudent child seem like nothing. She raised her eyebrow, and looked at Glynda with a blank face. "The silent treatment will not help you here. Why were you on that train, why did it derail, and who. Are. You?"

As much as Selena would of liked to put a bolter round through this woman's head, her weapons were sadly taken from her. Her armour was left on, of course, because if they tried to pry that away from her she'd leave this station filled to the brim with corpses. These heathens would not strip the protection away from a faithful servant of the Emperor.

The door to the interrogation room opened, and in came a man. He had tousled silver hair, a pair of spectacles and brown eyes. He wore an unzipped black suit over a buttoned vest and a green shirt. He had black shoes and green trousers. Compared to the clothing Glynda wore, his was more modest and simplistic in comparison. In one hand he held a cup of coffee, and in the other he held a plate with some biscuits on it.

"Glynda, do you mind if I talk to her alone for a moment?" The man asked. His voice was smooth, and he spoke in a low, respectful tone. Glynda obliged and left the room. He turned to face Selena, and he had a soft, welcoming smile on his face. He walked over and sat the tray and the cup down in front of her, before he sat down. "I apologise for my deputy's tone. Let's just say she's had a bad day and leave it at that. She is a teacher, after all."

Selena almost grinned at the man's words. Almost. She remembered how her teachers were some of the strictest and most miserable people in the Imperium. One of them threw a book at her head because she misspoke a single word in one of their prayers. How anyone survived their ire was beyond her. Still, she wasn't going to give out any information, even if this man was more pleasant than Glynda.

Ozpin remained silent for a few seconds, then spoke again. "As much as I'd love to divulge the woes of being a teacher on you, I need to have some things ironed out. Like the train, for example." Selena wasn't surprised that the man would divert into that topic. It was his job, after all. Ozpin realised that he wouldn't get a response from that. "Trust me when I say that you are in no trouble. I don't believe you were the one to sabotage that train, nor do I believe that an upstanding young lady such as yourself would have any reason to."

"Flattery won't make me talk."

Ozpin smiled, and Selena realised her mistake. "It clearly did." Selena didn't respond, and Ozpin shook his head. "I'm just here to clear some things up, that is all. So, what is your name?"

"...Selena. Selena Lethyra."

"Ozpin, and it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance. I assume your not from here?"

Selena remained silent for a few seconds, and then decided to reveal herself. "No, that I am not. And no, I won't tell you where I'm from."

"That is no concern of mine." Ozpin looked towards her coffee. "You've hardly touched your drink."

"I'm not thirsty."

"Hmmm. Fair enough. So, tell me about the train, then."

Selena sighed, then met his gaze. "I was walking through the forest when I heard the train approach. I went to a ledge and saw that part of it was detached. There was an abhuman there. Red hair, black horns and a red sword."

"I see. Abhuman, did you say? You mean a Faunus, correct?"

"Sure, whatever you call those freaks."

Ozpin's smile fell at her words, and she briefly wondered why. Maybe they didn't use such colourful language on this world to describe those abominations, but she couldn't care less for their sensitivities. Ozpin fell to a more neutral expression, before shaking his head. "Anyway, I think I know who your talking about."

"Glad to be of assistance. So, what happens now?"

Ozpin paused for a few seconds. "Tell me, Miss Lethrya, how many Grimm have you killed?"

"Grimm? Oh, those creatures. A couple dozen, perhaps. Then again, It was my first time facing them."

"A couple dozen, you say? Hmmm…" He looked to her. "Do you have any idea what you intend to do when you leave here?"

"I'm going to find any survivors from my order, then I'm going to leave this accursed rock… if I can."

Ozpin smiled, and then looked directly into her eyes. "That would be hard, very hard, especially with such limited resources. I could be of assistance."

"I…" Selena paused. He was right. Searching for her sisters alone would be a challenge at best and outright impossible at worst. She was one woman, but this man, well… he had to have some connections that could help her in her search. "...I will need the help. What's the catch?"

"Come to Beacon." As Ozpin finished his sentence, she could swear she heard Glynda shout 'WHAT!?' right before she charged into the room.

"Ozpin, a word, please." Glynda said.

"I apologise, Miss Lethyra, but I must excuse myself for a moment. Wait right there."

"It's not like I can do much else." Ozpin let out a chuckle as Selena responded, before he walked outside of the room.

"Ozpin, for the love of all that is holy, please tell me you did not offer a position in Beacon to that… that lunatic!" Glynda shouted at Ozpin, and in retrospect in he should of seen this coming.

"Lunatic? She was a very polite woman, thank you very much." Ozpin responded, keeping his calm.

"Politeness does not excuse her. She is clearly hiding something, something that could put us all at risk!"

"Miss Goodwitch." Ozpin made sure to purposefully use her last name. "I understand your concern, but know that I have a good reason for this. She will not be a member of the staff, I can promise you that much."

"You'll put her on a team instead!? How's that any better? What age is she, anyway?"

"No older then twenty. Trust me on that, I've lived long enough to deduce a persons age by the merest look."

Glynda sighed, then pinched her nose. "You better have a good reason for this."

"Do you remember the two ships that crashed two years ago?"

"Yes, I do. Atlas managed to secure one of the ships, and found a ton of weapons and vehicles on board. The other ship crashed somewhere near Mt. Glenn, and all attempts to retrieve the equipment inside have failed. Probably because of that cyborg freakshow."

"That's the gist of it, yes. You see, I have reason to believe that that 'cybernetic freakshow' as you called him has something in common with our guest."

"...Really? Hmmm…" Glynda paused for a second, the anger on her face dissipating. "And you believe she can coax him out of hiding somehow?"

"Perhaps. Then again, that is only one of the reasons I'm bringing her to Beacon. Did you see her in combat?"

"Yes, she performed… quite well, I have to admit. I did not see the majority of the engagement, but she survived long enough for us to find her, so that should say something about her skills."

"And having those skills on our side would be useful, correct?"

"...Yes, yes it would. I still think this is a bad idea."

"Your opinion has been duly noted. Now, if you'll excuse me…" Glynda stepped away from the door, and Ozpin walked back inside the room. Selena remained seated, her arms crossed, and she looked up towards him. "So, about my offer."

"First, why do you want me. Second… what's Beacon?"

Ozpin let out a small chuckle as she asked what Beacon was. Beacon, the place from which some of the greatest huntsman to have ever lived trained. Beacon, the place where he has plotted against the encroaching darkness of Salem for thousands of years. Beacon… the place which someone like Selena would have absolutely no knowledge of whatsoever.

"It is… an academy, if you will. A place where future generations of huntsman are trained to become humanities defenders. I am it's headmaster, and Miss Goodwitch is my deputy."

"I'm guessing Glynda is also a huntsman, or a huntress, correct?"

"Exactly. And the reason I want you, Miss Lethrya, is because of your skills. You said it yourself, you fought off a number of Grimm, even though you've never seen a single one before. To top it off, you did so without the assistance of aura. Few can claim to have done so."

"Aura, what is that?"

"Ah, that's another thing you don't know about. It is, effectively, a shield. A shield formed from the soul. It's the manifestation of your soul, turned outwards to protect you from harm, and to heal any wounds you may have. Here, I can unl-"

"No! You will do nothing of the sort!" Selena snapped, before quickly realising what she'd done.

"I understand. You have faired well without it thus far. I won't push this any further." He paused, then continued. "So, are you interested? Although Beacon may not do you that much good in the combat department, there's still much to learn when it comes to the Grimm. We can teach you there."

"...Fine. It's not like I have anywhere else to go."

Ozpin stuck out his hand, and Selena reluctantly shook it.

And that's that. Chapter 1 will probably be on the longer side when it comes to chapter lengths, coming in at around 6000 words. I'm trying to aim for some amount of consistency when it comes to chapter lengths, but you should expect the next chapter to be shorter, since it covers the moments leading up to the beginning of initiation.

I do hope I managed to keep Glynda and Ozpin consistent with their original, although trying to put their mannerisms and speech patterns into text is a little bit harder.

Anyway, expect the next chapter within the week. And if I don't write again, then good afternoon, good evening and goodnight!
