Ever since I've finished my "Two More Visitors" fic, I had planned to make another multiversal crossover story, this time featuring characters from the Marvel Legacy films. Originally, this was supposed to the premise for my "Fate of The Multiverse" I did last year, where various heroes from the non-MCU films arrive at Earth-838 and figure the truth behind their arrival before getting involved in a battle that would determine the fate of the Marvel multiverse. However, I decided to change it to include only Nicolas Cage's Ghost Rider and building up the idea from Aragorn II Elessar's "The devil on her shoulder" by having Mephisto orchestrating the events of WandaVision and No Way Home because I wasn't sure if the initial idea would actually work and that Ghost Rider and Mephisto were the only ones who added to the story. Now, I feel more confident in revisiting that idea again and try my best in making a good story from it.
The multiversal heroes that will be featured in this story will be Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man (aka Peter-2), Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, Ioan Gruffudd's Mr. Fantastic and Wesley Snipes' Blade. In my original premise for the fic, Nicolas Cage's Ghost Rider was added, but since I've already included in my "Fate of The Multiverse" fic, I decided to omit him from the story in order to avoid repetition.
Disclaimer: I do not own the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Spider-Man, X-Men, Fantastic Four and Blade. They belong to Marvel Studios, Sony Pictures, 20th Century Fox and New Line Cinema.
Wundagore Castle, Earth-616
Present Day
Having summoned The Spirits of The Damned to overwhelm Wanda Maximoff and prevent her from stealing America Chavez's powers in order to travel through the multiverse, Doctor Stephen Strange used his powers to lift her to his friend, Wong, who summoned a magical enchantment to trap her inside a magical barrier. As she found herself surrounded by the spirits, Wanda attempted to break free from the barrier, but one of the spirits managed to hold her off before she could destroy the barrier. However, Wong soon realized that he may not be able to hold off Wanda much longer as he saw her trying to escape from the barrier.
"She's breaking free!" Wong said as he saw Wanda trying to break out of the barrier while the Spirits attempted to stop her. "We don't have much time!"
Watching alongside Strange and Wong were four individuals from different universes; the first one was clad in a red and blue form-fitting suit with raised grey webbing, a black Spider emblem and triangular shaped eyes. The next individual was a tall muscular man with hazel eyes, slick brown hair with grey temples and beard, wearing a brown leather jacket with dark yellow stripes across the shoulders, a white t-shirt, a pair of blue jeans with a large belt buckle and brown shoes. The next two individuals were a middle-aged man with brown hair with grey temples, a thick beard and brown eyes wearing a blue form-fitting suit with black gloves and boots and a large 4 logo placed on the right side of his chest and a woman with blonde hair and blue eyes clad in a black leotard stamped with a golden lightning bolt and a red sash around hips with black domino mask, gloves and boots.
"Hold her!" Strange advised Wong.
"Strange, take America's power!" Wong told Strange, who turned around and looked at America Chavez, who was contained by Maximoff's powers. "There's no other way."
"Yeah," Strange remarked. "There is another way."
Strange turned around and utilized his magic to break Chavez from her restraints. Upon getting freed, Chavez was caught by a bald African-American man with a small goatee and tattoos around his body, wearing a black body vest, black leather pants, gloves, shoulder pads and boots and red tinted sunglasses. The man also had a sword placed around his back.
"You're safe now, kid," The man, Blade, said in his raspy voice.
Just as Strange and Blade saved Chavez, Maximoff utilized her magic to break free from the barrier, sending Wong staggering back and removing the spirits from her, before being getting getting approached by Spider-Man, who flew at her and attempted to use his webbing to neutralize her. However, Maximoff used her magic to deflect Spider-Man's webbing and shoot her energy blasts at him, who attempted to dodge her attacks, but his reflexes weren't a match for Maximoff's powers as she shot a blast that sent Spider-Man staggering to the ground. Wolverine popped out his claws and leaped at Maximoff, only for her to teleport away. Bewildered by Maximoff's disappearance, Wolverine then turned around and saw her standing near him, leaping at her again, but Maximoff used her powers to neutralize him and lift him up, causing Wolverine to grunt in pain as he felt her dark magic seething through his metal skeleton as she lifted him away to the floor.
Mr. Fantastic used his elastic body to charge at Maximoff, but she evaded his attack and shot her energy blast at him, striking him in the chest and sending him to the floor. Blade pulled out his sword and ran at Maximoff before getting struck by her magic blast and sent to the ground. Seeing her newfound friends getting attacked by Maximoff, Ms. Marvel shot her photon energy at her, which she used her dark magic to deflect Ms. Marvel's energy blast, causing for their powers to collide. Ms. Marvel struggled to maintain her energy beam against Maximoff's powers, as her dark magic reached through Ms. Marvel's photon energy until she was overwhelmed and Maximoff's dark energy struck through her chest, leaving her stunned on the ground.
Having dealt with the multiversal individuals, Maximoff turned around and saw Strange and Chavez, throwing her magical blast at Strange's left arm and preventing him from the having the chance to strike her. Maximoff began amplifying her powers and torturing Strange, who let out a painful scream as he saw his variant's arm getting disintegrated by her powers. As she watched Strange getting overwhelmed by Maximoff's powers, Chavez feared what would happen to her if Maximoff was successful in killing Strange and taking her powers away and began to wonder what could have led them to this moment as her thoughts wandered off to the moment Strange saved her from having her powers getting drained by Maximoff a few hours ago.
Kamar-Taj, Earth-616
Four Hours Ago
Inside the secret chamber of Kamar-Taj, Chavez was left under the protection of Wong's father, Hamir, while Strange and Wong were outside fighting against Maximoff and preventing her from getting Chavez's powers to travel through the Multiverse and search for her kids as she was under the influence of a secret magical book called the Darkhold. As she waited for Strange and Wong, Chavez had began to fear for her life and hoped Strange and Wong would fend off against Maximoff temporarily until she was safe.
"Are you alright, my dear?" Hamir asked her.
"Yeah, I'm fine," Chavez trailed off. "But..."
"You still fear for your life," Hamir pointed out from Chavez's expression.
"Wait, how did you..." Chavez attempted to speak before Hamir continued.
"I never ignore a tortured soul when a see one," Hamir told Chavez. "Strange was one when he had first arrived in this temple. Had it not been for the Ancient One, Strange would still remain lost in his life."
However, Chavez and Hamir's conversation was quickly interrupted when Strange and Wong opened the door to the secret chamber, having just placed Maximoff to the Mirror Dimension.
"We gotta get you out of here. Now," Strange quickly told Chavez.
"Why?" Chavez asked. "What happened?"
"Kamar-Taj has fallen," Wong remarked.
Just as he was about to use his Sling Ring to summon a portal, Strange noticed a red aura surrounding the ring before the ring vanished in his eyes. Strange, Wong, Chavez and Hamir saw strong winds passing through the room and closing down the doors, leaving them trapped inside, before Strange, Wong and Chavez saw the guardian of the chamber and Hamir being drawn into the water pool before being pulled beneath the floor. Strange realized that Maximoff was using the reflections from the mirror dimension pull people into the dimension, elevating Chavez's fears.
"Reflections," Strange quickly thought. "She's using the reflections. Cover them!"
Strange, Wong and Chavez quickly took all of the cloths inside the chamber and placed them on the floor in order to prevent Maximoff from coming out of the reflections. As Chavez placed a cloth on the water pool, Chavez stopped in her tracks and saw a water pool in front of her. Upon looking further into the water reflection, Chavez was taken aback as Maximoff's eye appeared in the reflection, causing her wipe the water before turning around and seeing Maximoff's arm reaching through the golden gong as she ran away in fear. The cloths were enough to stop Maximoff from reaching the secret chamber as she pulled herself out of the mirror dimension though the reflection inside the golden gong and her dark magic had helped her body phase though the golden gong without any harm.
"You gave all those lives just to keep me from my children," Maximoff told Strange as she faced him, Wong and Chavez.
"You took those lives," Strange fired back. "You cannot be allowed to cross into the multiverse."
"I'm not a monster, Stephen," Maximoff remarked, justifying her actions. "I'm a mother."
"Wanda, you have no children," Strange reminded Maximoff. "They don't exist."
"Oh, but they do. In every other universe. I know they do. Because I dream of them, every... night," Maximoff said before using her powers to reveal the Darkhold and utilizing it to reveal projections of her life with her children across the multiverse. "Of my boys... Of our life together. Every night, the same dream. And every morning... the same..." Maximoff then closed down the Darkhold and faced Strange again. "...Nightmare."
"What if you reach them?" Strange asked Maximoff, causing her to question herself for a moment. "What happens to the other you? What happens to their mother?"
Just as Maximoff took a moment to think of the possible repercussions of her actions, Strange and Wong nodded at each other knowing that it was the right moment to attack. It was then that Strange used his magic to summon various magical snakes at her. Maximoff fended off the snakes by using her magical powers to cut off their heads before using them to push the snakes away from her and vaporize them. Maximoff then floated in the air and pushed Strange away, before creating restraints across Chavez and lifting her in the air. Wong attempted to stop her by summoning magical blasts, but Maximoff used her powers to throw the blasts back at Wong and knocking him out.
Maximoff then proceeded to use her telekinesis to absorb Chavez's powers, as she finally realized she was getting closer in fulfilling her wish to see her children again, while Strange watched Maximoff taking away Chavez's powers as he recovered from the fight. Suddenly, a blue star-shaped portal emerged as Chavez was helpless in fighting back against Maximoff. Seeing the opportunity to save Chavez, Strange quickly jumped his way at Chavez and grabbed her, though Maximoff shot an energy blast at his cape as Strange and Chavez rushed through the portal.
As a result of entering the portal, Strange and Chavez leaped through various realities across the multiverse. While jumping through realities, Chavez felt her powers were spiraling out of control as energy whips began to form around her body. Strange then grabbed her and pulled into his arms as they continued to traverse through realities and Chavez continued to lose control of her powers.
New York, Earth-838
A star-shaped portal emerged from a rooftop in Earth-838 New York City as Strange and Chavez landed on the the ground. Strange took some deep breaths as he looked around and noticed that Chavez was with him.
"You okay?" Strange asked as he panted.
"You saved me," Chavez told Strange.
"I hope so," Strange muttered.
Strange and Chavez stood up and took a look at their surroundings. Most of the buildings in this reality were covered in flowers and grass, from the rooftops to the windowsills, while the building were standing on was also surrounded by various flowers and had resembled a garden and the sky was filled with rainbows.
Meanwhile, in another rooftop located in Times Square, Spider-Man stood up on his feet and took a look at his surroundings as he saw the building he was standing on was filled with flowers. He had traversed through the multiverse before, having fought against his old villains against his two other counterparts, but he had never seen a universe that had looked completely different from the one he was familiar with. Having taken a moment to adjust his surroundings, Spider-Man then stood up and took off his mask as he looked at Times Square being filled with various plants and flowers.
"This is really strange..." Spider-Man told himself.
Around the same time, Wolverine found himself in another rooftop in Midtown Manhattan as he got up on his feet and looked at the sky, seeing the rainbow appearing in it. He had no idea how he ended up on this rooftop nor how he found himself in this strange reality he was in. He then looked down and saw most of the building filled with plants and grass, leaving him confused.
In the Lower East Side of Manhattan, Blade opened his eyes and got up on his feet as he investigated his surroundings, noticing that whatever reality he was currently in was much more colorful, with the sun setting on the city, rainbow appearing in the sky and the building being covered with various flowers. Blade was bewildered by the strange place he was in and couldn't make sense of it.
"Shit," Blade cursed as he further looked into his surroundings. "What kind of a sick place is this?"
In another building in Manhattan, Mr. Fantastic opened his eyes and lifted himself up on his feet before taking a look at his surroundings. Though he had no idea of how he ended up in this dimension, Mr. Fantastic couldn't believe what he was seeing, as the place he was in was very different compared to his own reality. He had previously theorized the idea of alternate realities and crossing through various dimensions in the past, but this was the first time he had ended up in such alternate reality, as the place he was in had buildings surrounded with flowers and grass and the sky was bright and colorful.
"I have never seen anything like this before..." Mr. Fantastic said to himself, amazed by the alternate reality he was in.
And that's the end of the first chapter. The reason why I decided to start the story in the "In Media Res" technique similar to "City of God", "Kill Bill" and "Mission: Impossible III" is because I wanted to build up the story of how these different individuals have met and how ended up meeting Doctor Strange before joining him the final battle against the Scarlet Witch at Wundagore Mountain. I was hesitant at first to use this technique, since it might confuse some readers, but I ultimately decided to use the technique to set up the multiversal individuals storylines and their time on Earth-838.
As for the characters, Spider-Man's story picks up from "No Way Home", while Wolverine's story continues from "X-Men: Days of Future Past", hence the grey temples on his hair. Mr. Fantastic's story takes place fifteen years after "Rise of the Silver Surfer" while Blade's takes place twenty years after "Blade: Trinity". Wolverine's civilian look with the leather jacket is from the original X-Men trilogy while Blade's look is modeled from the "X-Men: Curse of The Mutants" comic and the Blade anime from 2011. The Ms. Marvel character is played by Yvonne Strahovski and is a resident from Earth-838, though her story with the other individuals will be explained as the story progresses as well as the arrival of Spider-Man, Wolverine, Blade and Mr. Fantastic to Earth-838.
Let me know your thoughts on this story and I hope you liked it. Until then, stay safe and take care.
