"Where am I?"

.

.

.

I open my eyes to see leaves from trees blocking what looks like an amazing view of a night sky with an endless amount of stars and no clouds blocking them. I've never traveled outside of my hometown on my own unless it was with my parents or going to the next town over to either run errands for my family or gather with my friends who didn't live in the same town as me.

.

I quickly gather my thoughts as I get up from the dirt and grass and brush myself off and survey my surroundings even more. Now that I am up straight, I can see that there are trees everywhere I look with the only light illuminating the area is the light coming from the stars up above. I start to notice that some of the trees are spaced between each other enough that it makes a trail leading somewhere. Only problem is there are multiple trails all around me leading somewhere and I don't know where to go.

.

"This is frustrating, how did I even get here? Where do I even go?" I think to myself as I scratch my head in confusion on which direction to head towards. The trail to the very left of me was headed towards a lower part of the forest as the elevation of the trail was going towards a somewhat downwards direction. I turn my head to the right to look at the trail in that direction. Same thing as the last trail: Trees, a dirt trail leading somewhere, more nature. I clutch my head with both of my hands because anxiety is overcoming me due to not knowing where I was or what kind of danger I was walking into. Literally.

.

Then I remember something that my father was telling me. "There's always going to be a time in our life where we either feel stuck with whatever's going on in life, or you actually are stuck with no sense of time or direction. At the end of the day, it's up to you to make the right decision to get you back on your feet and onto the right direction."

.

After hearing the piece of advice that was given to me by my father, I made the decision to turn to the trail behind me and start walking on that trail not knowing what was ahead of me. As I walk on the trail, I start to notice that the leaves are starting to clear up and I can see the constellations more clearly but the trees around me are still present and there are pokemon on these trees. I don't stop to look at what kind of pokemon are on the trees as my curiosity is drawn to what's ahead of this trail.

.

.

.

As I continue my walk, I start to feel the land shake and the wind blowing through the forestry. "What was that?" I think as the ground shakes again and the wind blows once more. The pokemon surrounding me seem to be unaffected with what's going on up ahead as if this is a normal occurrence in this area. My mind is telling me that it's dangerous up ahead but something else is telling me to keep going.

.

*BOOM*

.

Everything is getting more intense as I keep walking, I can barely keep my balance while moving forward. In the end, I lost the balance battle as I fell back towards the ground in an upright position and landed on my rear-end. I start to hear footsteps headed my way as I get up and dust myself off once more. I start running as the footsteps start getting louder and louder. As I keep running I look at my surroundings and see that nothing has changed and I have made no progress. I stop in my tracks when I find out that I am back where I had started.

.

Whatever that is making those loud footsteps must be huge, and extremely close. I choose not to run from it anymore due to running out of breath from running a long distance and brace myself for whatever huge creature is coming my way. The stomping continues to get closer as I continue to hold my ground. While standing in one spot, I look at all the trails surrounding me to see where the stomping is coming from. I look to the trail in front of me and I see a silhouette of a big pokemon slowly making its way towards me, as if it knows exactly where I am.

.

By the looks of the silhouette, it looks like a pokemon on all fours with something on it's back. I think of all the research I've done on pokemon strengths and weaknesses as well as types, but it seems like my mind is at a complete blank as nothing is coming to my head. Then, my questions are answered.

.

.

"VENUSAUR!"

A loud cry echoes out into the forest as the silhouette in front of me reveals itself to be a Venusaur. I stand in awe as the creature stops moving and stares into my eyes as if it were reading my intentions. This Venusaur is unlike all the other average ones you might see in battle, this one has some permanent battle scars on its face and it's larger than the average Venusaur by at least eight to ten inches. Before I can do anything else, the pokemon stretches out a vine from the plant on it's back and holds it out in front of me as if it's telling me to grab on. I hesitantly reach my hand out and it wraps it's vine around my hand tight enough so I don't slip from it's grip and pulls me to it's back.

.

From there, Venusaur starts sprinting through the trees and knocking them down to the side as if it were an indestructible wrecking ball going through a concrete wall. I put my arms over my head and face to avoid any branches hitting me and knocking me off. While cutting through the woodland on top of this Venusaur, I take in my surroundings once more. I look to my right and through the rapidly moving trees, I can see the view of a lake clear as day with pokemon of all kinds relaxing by the water or swimming inside of the lake. Taking a closer look I can see a Rhyperior and a Lanturn swimming alongside each other with the Rhyperior surprisingly in front, a curious Shiftry looking into the water only to get splashed by a Qwilfish, and a Hydreigon casually floating across the lake alongside a Sharpedo and Swampert. Venusaur starts to slow down as I quickly divert my eyes back to what's in front of me.

.

Venusaur had taken me farther uphill where there were less trees and an even better view of my surroundings. That's when I could tell that I was in some sort of supernatural area of some sort. I get off of the pokemon's back and get a final view of my surroundings. I look up and can see billions of stars shining down from the clear sky above. I move my eyes downwards and view a grassy landscape with a rocky cliff that leads to what looks like an endless fall into space. In the middle of the grassy prairie is a large dirt space in the shape of a rectangle made for pokemon battles. I could tell because it had been painted like the arenas I see on TV, except instead of the paint being white like it usually is, it's in the same colors as the sky above. It's as if I'm looking right through the ground at the endless space the more I stare at it.

"Espeon, hit em with Zap Cannon. Rapid Fire!"

I look to the right of the arena and see a female trainer and an Espeon. In the other corner, a male trainer and a Pikachu.

Espeon wastes no time and summons Zap Cannon in front of the glowing red gem on its forehead and aims it at the Pikachu with precise accuracy, repeating the process multiple times without moving an inch.

"Pikachu, dodge them all using ExtremeSpeed and get close" The male trainer says as the Pikachu gets in formation while the multiple Zap Cannon attacks get closer and closer. Pikachu does exactly as it's trainer instructed and in a split second, Pikachu moves with extreme velocity, making brief stops in different sections of the battlefield while completely avoiding each Zap Cannon and getting much closer to Espeon.

"That's impossible! It's like seeing a whack-a-Diglett in real life. The amount of precision it must have taken for that Pikachu to move the way it did was incredible. That pokemon is abnormally fast!" I thought to myself as I witnessed the ongoing pokemon battle happening before my wide eyes.

I couldn't help but notice the other pokemon watching the battle on the sidelines. There were only a handful of pokemon around the field, but all were watching closely and paying attention to what was going on in front of them either as a learning experience or merely for amusement. There were even pokemon that I have never even seen before in the wild!

"Alright Espeon! Let's finish this with one final Zap Cannon! Max Power!" The female trainer screams with excitement

Espeon cries back with it's own excitement as it charges up a final Zap Cannon and fires it at the moving Pikachu, this one bigger than the ones fired before.

"Pikachu, use your momentum and fire it back using Iron Tail!" The male trainer commands as he holds his arm out pointing at the female trainer triumphantly.

.

The Pikachu starts charging up it's Iron Tail as it continues to run towards the Zap Cannon head-on at a high rate of speed. Then out of the blue, the Pikachu jumps in the air and does a continuous backflip with it's Iron Tail now rotating at a high rate of speed. The Iron Tail comes into contact with the Zap Cannon and it causes Pikachu to stop mid air. It's a conflict in power between the Zap Cannon and Pikachu's Iron Tail attack as both seem to be going back and forth in the middle of the battlefield. I can't believe my eyes!

Pikachu gets knocked back on it's side of the battlefield, but the Zap Cannon is moving back towards Espeon with a somewhat higher speed than when it was shot at Pikachu. The Zap Cannon comes into contact with Espeon, knocking it back and causing an earth tremor, followed by a smokescreen and a gust of wind. It was clear who the winner was after rewatching everything in my head.

.

"Venusaur" The pokemon besides me calls out as he reaches a vine towards me. I look at the pokemon and grab onto the vine and it quickly pulls me onto the pokemon's back once more.

Venusaur starts making its way towards the battlefield that's at the bottom of the hill as both trainers are tending to their respective pokemon. As the Venusaur is moving, it starts to let off some sort of dust from its flower petals and it starts to make me feel drowsy.

"Wait, what are… you…" I manage to let out before my eyes shut and I succumb to the Sleep Powder
