Twilight does not belong to me. I've taken the characters and made them fun. ;)
Any misspelled words are on me. I could read this a thousand times and not catch all of my little mistakes. Enjoy the story update!
Three weeks later...
Things have gotten better between myself and the Cullen family. What with my being a shifter of the special type, the mutts over on the reservation trying to recruit me because of how badass I am and finally my imprint on Esme. Did I mention school and how math wants to own your soul? I did? Oh, thanks. For a second I thought I had forgotten to remind everyone how much I hate school.
Anywho, I asked the leader, Sam, you know the tall black wolf with the control problem? Yeah, well I went ahead and asked him if it was okay to bring Esme onto their land so she can help the few villages they had left on the reservation with new homes that would be fitting for the family's who have lost everything. They were reluctant. Paul and Jared argued about how bringing the leech onto their land would mean that the entire family would think that their treaty was void and make themselves at home, feeding off their people where as myself, Jacob, Quil, Embry and Leah knew better. We didn't want to bring the youngest of the group with us, so we left Seth to finish school.
"If we allow one of them onto our land who knows what the others will think!" Paul shouts his opinion to gather attention to himself. The air around us was stale, making it harder to breath. We were outside for gods sake! Why couldn't they calm down and see for themselves that the Cullens and my imprint were nothing like the stories they have been told. "We should have killed them when they crossed that last time. They broke our treaty but you let it slide!" Paul snarled, jabbing his finger towards their fearless leader.
"If I remember correctly, Paul," Leah squinted her eyes at the younger boy. "You were the one that went after the Cullen instead of the leech he was chasing down. Its obvious whoever that leech was, she was no friend of theirs." My friend seemed smug about her observation. She also enjoys watching Paul become a furious heap of fur that needs to be dragged into the roaring waters below so he can cool off.
"Leah has a point. You jumped at the big guy and he wasn't even close to coming onto our land."
"That leech was close enough, Embry!" Paul tossed his hands into the air with a grunt of defeat. "I don't need to sit here, listening to this girl who isn't even part of our pack tell us how good those leeches are. They kill. End of story."
Hell no. This guy has gotten on my last never. I've sat on this wet, smells like someone took a piss on it log for the last ten minutes, listening to this over-sized idiot speak his mind while their so called 'leader' let him run his mouth. Insult not only me, but his pack mates by calling them stupid and ignorant. He also dared to call Esme and her family monsters. As if that loving family could ever end up like the monsters I've seen come strolling through these woods, dashing towards the largest city nearby for a quick drink. I was more than pissed off, but I would not let my anger take control of me. In situations like this my father always told me, the calmer ones always win.
"Listen here you leech killing puppy." I pressed my hands against my thighs as I stood from the log, my eyes flashed with a hint of sympathy for the poor guy because I was about to lay a beat down on his sorry ass. "My imprint is among the group you wish to kill without a seconds thought. You claim they're nothing but killers, and yet I've seen you go out of your way to chase down a leech that wasn't even on your land...Just so you can kill it without mercy."
"That thing could have come back and taken one of our-"
"People? You are the lowest of low, Paul. Each and everyday you go out there seeking a fight with the Cullens. I've seen your sorry ass crawling closer to the line, waiting for them to break it when its you I should be worried about." My hands twitched at my side, the adrenaline was pumping through my veins, encouraging me to not only continue my rant but to set this man on his knees. I needed him to beg for mercy, to plea with me until I could see that clarity in his eyes. I would be his Alpha. This pack needed a stronger leader. This old man wasn't cutting it.
"You did what, Paul?!" Sam stood from his seat, angrily staring down at his pack mate.
If it wasn't for Sam's intervention I might have cracked. The pressure in my head was settling down, dark murky liquids that fell from the sky turned back into clear crystals of rain that sprinkled overhead. Our clothes were wet, clinging closely to our bodies but with the heat we generated as a single person, you could say we were our own dryer.
Why did I call myself Alpha? I dropped myself back onto the log, leaning into Leah for support as I tuned the conversation out for a moment. This was between the two of them for now. I needed...I needed a breather.
"Dude, the stench alone here would make any one of those leeches want to high tail it around the mountain. We've covered our land completely with it. We can't take their stench, and they certainly can not take ours." Jacob gave his two scents in a calm tone. I always knew this guy wasn't one to jump into battle like the others. Let me put it this way. When you're with your buddies and they're hyped to drive ten miles to see a concert, but when you arrived you were never that excited, that is until you and your friends bounced around and shouted in excitement. Their joy rolled off of them and claimed you. Taking you as its victim so you could do nothing more than become a happy, lets get it on, horrah for the longest drive of our lives junkie. That's what happened with my friend here. When he was near them all day that anger towards leeches was intense. I felt it from over the line and it turned me to question the real reason why the Cullens were such a nice coven. But then I see the couples come together for movie night, snuggling one another on the couch of in love seats. Acting like a family should...A human family.
I was able to rip them away from that hatred one by one. It took me two weeks to gain at least five of the wolves trust in the Cullens. With Bella's help it made my work with Jacob that much easier. He had a crush on the poor girl, but her mind and soul belong to Edward. I should include body somewhere in there but I have yet to see that old vampire make any sort of moves on her. Bella has given sign that she is ready for some sort of loving, but Edward being the old fashioned type tells her to wait. That when her heart speeds with his presence alone its hard for him to stay near here. You' think with him drinking her blood to stop her from changing he would be all right. Nope. Having a taste of her blood made her more tempting.
I swear this guy is only in love with her blood and not the person that she is. I've seen the way Alice and Bella act around each other. Though if I go on about their hidden emotions for one another I'd be going off into a long explanation and what my thoughts are on it. For now I'll stick to the present time and focus on this idiot who has yet to give me a yes or no answer.
"All I'm asking is you let Esme see the lay of the land. If you do that it will stay in her memory and she can give you blueprints for houses. It will help your people. She can even add in safe places for them to hide if there is a risk of attack." I try to reason with Sam more than the others. He depended on their insight to the situation but the final answer would be his decision alone. He had to see this was a good idea. They wouldn't allow a pale face onto their land for whatever their reasons might be.
"I..." Sam rubbed his hand over his chin. This had to be the slowest response time in history. The old man was making us seat at the edge of the log, watching the strain of emotions that race through dark brown eyes. Every twitch of his brow, upturn of his lip and small stroke of his hand over his chin could mean a thousand words. All I need is one. Give me a yes you old wolf! I want to show Esme how beautiful this land is and what it could be with her help.
"I'll allow it."
There is a single growl that ripped through the collection of relieved sighs. "Calm down, Paul. If you feel that its such a bad idea why don't you follow them around." Embry broke into a large yawn, stretching his arms above his head of messy hair. Jacob snickered, dragging his finger along his friends side. "Ah!" Embry jolted away from the gentle touch and fell from the log.
"I didn't think you could scream like a girl!" Jacob bellowed. "You've got Leah beat."
Thanks to the kind man on my left, the atmosphere was broken from its harsh continuity and we could all breathe easier now. With the help of their laughter I to was able to forget my pain and anger towards a certain wolf. Now that the conversation has come to an end I could leave in peace, returning to the awaiting arms of my imprint who undoubtedly would ask if I needed something to eat. That woman, if it wasn't for the short amount of time I have been with her and the rest of the family I would say this is love. My father told me to never rush into a relationship. Let the chips fall where they may and see if this is the right thing for you. In truth I was scared. Knowing that the one person you've fallen for can look you dead in the eye and say they've fallen for another and can only see you as their friend? The pain was all too real for me. I could feel the iron in my blood stop to congeal in my heart. Making life harder for me to become normal, happy Grace.
I walked over to Sam and lay my hand on his shoulder, looking him in the eyes as I mutter my thanks and make my departure while they others were enjoying themselves. It was time I return to my second home and tell the others of my good news.
I reached my own home in ten minutes after a sprint through the woods, a few large jumps over split mountain edges and drop that would have killed your average size wolf. Being the size of a horse and give or take five inches taller than our six foot Alpha I'd say I did pretty well for my fourth time out in this new form of mine. It took me three times to figure out how to calm my mind and in turn my heart so I could stand on two legs again. Picturing myself being held in strong, cold arms while my room is filled with the sounds of classical music to help lull me into a nightmare-less sleep. Perhaps another image would do the same job, but being held by her arms always calmed me down. Esme's presence alone did the trick.
"What a big wolf I have."
I jumped and sprang into my attack position. Long black claws dug into the muddy grass underneath large paws, a growl rippled through my chest and grew in volume when I could not see the threat. How could I have been so calm as to think danger was not around me? The more important question how the heck did I not sense their presence? I scanned my backyard for this being, taking cautious steps forward. I keep my head lowered to the ground, sniffing as I make my way to the back doors of my home.
"Trying to run away, are we?" The voice echoed within the empty yard, laughter following behind it. Over by the tree's I saw a flicker of auburn hair and a light blue hem of what I gathered to be a dress. Auburn hair, light blue dress and laughter that made my stomach fill with butterflies. "You're such a handsome wolf."
"Esme?" My ears flatten against my massive head as I lowered my entire body to the ground, nestling my head over paws that lay flat against the soaked ground from the early mornings shower. Patiently I waited for my beautiful imprint to shower herself. I could tell she was enjoying this game of hide-n-go-seek. Bouncing between tree's. Gaining my attention in on direction, then misleading me by laughing and moving to the other side. I couldn't help but smile. Waiting for her to come out from behind the saplings. Perhaps I could trick her into thinking I was imaging her presence, and when she comes out from her spot of hiding I could pounce. "Game on, ladybug."
My wolf grumbles and stood from the ground, the underbelly wet and fur clung together. Small leaves, twigs from fallen branches clung to my fur but none bothering me. I pressed forward towards the backdoor where I have hidden a small bundle of clothing that would cover my respective areas. I liked to leave my stomach exposed. Esme must have a thing for my bellybutton because she has not stopped staring at whenever I had to change in her presence. And with my sprouts of anger in the time of hand-to-hand combat training with the guys tends to lead me to a shift, which in the ends means I have no clothing. Alice is all for my shredding the articles of clothing I have into tiny bits and pieces. It means the less I have in my closet, the more shopping torture she can take me on for something that would drive Esme wild. Trust me when I say the outfits she wanted me to try on were scandalous. There is no way I could pull off a dress like those, let alone the skirts she wanted me to try on were a humongous no. Nu-uh. Grace is not going to throw those things on just so I can have Esme drop her control and take me on her bed.
I blushed within my mind. I stripped down from my furry friend and stood by my back door on two legs. A pair of shorts covering my nether regions and a sport bra protected the babies upstairs. It's not like I would want Esme to take her own dress before stripping me from whatever the hell I might be wearing. It...Its only been a month! Leave me alone. Not like everyone else is busy having sex somewhere in the woods or the privacy of their rooms.
"Grace?" Esme cupped my cheeks gently within her cold ones, trying to draw me out form my inner ramblings. Her closeness only made the blush on my cheeks spread farther down my neck. Shit. Do I lean in and kiss her, hinting at what made me blush or stay quiet until I can speak?
Esme chuckled and pecked my nose. "Are you over thinking something?" Curios hazel eyes seek out my own. "How did it go, sweetheart? Everything okay?" She dragged a cold finger over my cheek, drawing a small design that crossed over my nose and ended on the other cheek. I couldn't help but stay still for the woman as she paints a picture on me, her finger moving lower as it brushes against my jaw line. I playfully ended the soft moment and snapped at her finger, gathering the cold digit within my mouth. Has Grace grown into a fearless teenager who is ready to take that next step in her relationship? Heck to the no! But no one said I could tease the woman. I mean come on, she does it all the time to me.
"Grace..." Esme's voice holds a hint of warning as she rose a brow, her hazel eyes settled on my lips as I parted them. My tongue moved over that single digits and I watched amazingly as her eyes darkened.
"Sorry." I murmur, allowing the small finger to drop from my mouth. Esme continue to stare at the one place her finger had just escaped from. A pink muscle moved past her lips, coating the lower in a shining glaze of venom. For me her venom tasted tangy, like a sour piece of orange you've bitten into and it gets better as you continue chewing. I waited for her to pull herself out of her haze, patiently giving the time my vampire needed so we can both share in the good news that I've brought home with me.
"Quit all right, dear." Esme reached up on the tip of her toes and pecked my nose, smiling up at me as she leaned back. "Now, are you going to tell me how things went or are we going to stay out here and..."
"Hmm? Oh! No, we can go inside. I need to make sure the old man has something to eat before we head back over to your place." I rubbed at the back of my neck, thinking over how many nights I've stayed at the Cullen house compared to my own. Its been a month so far, and I've spent at least ten nights in my own bed. That isn't such a a bad thing. I would be fine with Esme coming over to my house every night and staying with me like she had before, but then I remember the other coven mate that is single and my wolf becomes protective. I wouldn't say that I turn into an Edward and beg Bella to stay off the reservation sort of protective. More like a 'this is mine so back off, please' kind of protective. I've seen how close Carlisle and Esme can be. I could blame their personalities, call it an act they put on for everyone in the house. But in truth these two had a history. Before I was even brought into the picture they were probably in love and happily married.
I led Esme up stairs, down the small hallway until we came to my door. I was nervous about by father showing up and finding us on my bed, cuddling or maybe kissing like we seem to do when alone. I consulted with the other wolves and vampires that were mated, wondering if this constant need to feel Esme against my body was a normal thing.
Flashback
"Hmm." Alice tapped on her chin as she danced around her bedroom. Stilling in front of her full body mirror, twisting around in her sunflower dress. "I can say it was like that for all of us. Rose and Emmett had it bad after they stopped avoiding each other." She giggled, leaning forward to fix a few buttons on her dress. "I think until you two finalize your relationship, you know..." The pixie gave a small wiggle of her brows, laughing as my cheeks burned at just the thought. "Until then you and Esme's craving might get so bad that you'll want to do each other in the supermarket. I think its kinky but so not the best place for your first."
"Right." I covered my cheeks with the pixies hands, using her bodies cold temperature to cool them off. "And since I'm a wolf and she a vampire that pull is stronger?"
Alice tilts her body to the side, reaching up on her toes to see past my shoulder so she may consult her husband who sat near the window with a book in hand. "What do you think, Jazz?"
"Your feelin's for Esme are strong. You definitely imprinted on her." He set a marker on his page and closed the book, an old human habit he could never let go. "I'd say you're both fighting the pull with distractions. Its good, but I'd hate to see the two of you foolin' around somewhere other folks could see." His southern twang showed more when the family was locked inside the house, and it was doing nothing to help calm my already sporadic heartbeat. Geebus. I could feel a sense of unnatural calm washing over me in small amounts, helping the heavy beating of my heart.
"Thanks." I whispered, groaning as I dropped my head onto Alice's shoulder.
"Hey now," My pixie friend pushed on my shoulders, and with her strength it wasn't hard to get me to move. She took my chin delicately between two fingers and l lifted my head. "If you think you need to drop it all and give yourself to Esme. Stop thinking that way right now." Alice had a small pout playing on her lips as she tapped my nose as if to say 'bad puppy.' I rose a brow and waited for her to continue. "She will wait until you're ready. If you're still worried then I suggest some alone time to talk about this. You two serious just met, went out on two dates and still have no idea what the other likes."
"I know she enjoy renovating. Building from the ground up." My eyes drifted down to examine the girls dress. It was nice, yellow was a good color on her. One of her buttons had come undone, I didn't think about what her reaction might have been if I fixed it. My hands brushed against her breast as I took the small button in my fingers and tucked it into the slip beside it. "She also enjoys cooking meals for my dad and I."
"Start there then! Have Esme cook for you." Alice slapped my shoulder. "Oh, I didn't see that one. Thank you." My response would have been a snort and a sassy remark, but when her lips pressed against my cheek all motor controls ceased to function. Was I reacting to the kiss? Yes, but was it out of attraction? No. See when you live with your father for as long as I have, you're not used to the simpler things girls say or do. Small actions like a thank you kiss to your cheek would have me wonder what the heck the other girl was thinking for doing that in public. All the action means is 'thank you.'
"I'll see about it after my meeting with the pack." I stood from the bed, checking the time on her wall clock to be sure I would arrive on time.
"Its going to rain. Make sure you packed some clothes in your yard."
I waved my hand over my shoulder. "Sure thing"
End Flashback.
"It was Paul and Jared that were against the idea. But I was able to get the old man to agree." I said with a smug smirk. "There is no way he'd let that smart mouthed idiot stay in his pack if he knew half of the things I've seen. I'm glad I had the others on my side. Its thanks to your family that they see how you're not like the other vampires." I reached for the bowl of freshly cut and peeled fruit, leaning my elbows onto the middle islands counter top as Esme made herself at home in the kitchen.
"Tomorrow morning would work best for me. I have to show a few of my plans to a gentleman by the afternoon, sign a few papers if he enjoys one of them and then make my way home."
I nod my head slowly. Sam should be awake early in the morning. Only the gods knew why that guy wanted to be up at six in the morning for patrols before his day job. I for one would enjoy sleeping in with my cold body pillow in my arms, trying to wake me early enough that I could dress and be ready for one of her children to pick me up for school. "I'll give Sam a text. See if its cool with him."
Esme sent me a smile from over her shoulder. She was making steak with mashed potatoes and gravy. There was also pot of vegetables somewhere in the mix. I know for certain that I was hungry and couldn't wait to eat her home cooking.
"Would you mind being a dear and answering my cell? I think its Carlisle." Her brows were scrunched together. Something tells me she wasn't expecting a call from him. With a brief nod I slipped of the high chair and stepped around the counter. Her phone was near the oven, resting face side up. I slide my finger over the green button and press speaker. "Esme couldn't reach her phone because she's lazy." I shy away from her hand, avoiding contact with messy fingers and chuckle. "You're speaking with Grace. Sup?"
"Grace? I'm sorry to be the first to tell you this." Carlisle sounded stressed on the other line. Esme and I glanced at one another, curiously peering down at the cell phone, waiting for him to continue. "Grace?"
"I'm here. But...What do you mean you're sorry?" There is a pause on the other side. He was hesitant to give me the information, and probably for good reason. If it was something to do with the wolves I could bust naked now and go handle it. Unless...
"Its your father."
I know its been some time since I've given anyone notice about where I was or what is happening to my stories. Let me tell you, the writers block is real. I won't tell you anymore besides that. Hehe. I do hope you guys enjoyed. I'll be doing my best to at least finish this story of mine.
Remember to leave a review and I'll see you next time.
