Hey, everybody it's been a little while since I was last here. Sorry for the wait, I had a lot going on in my crazy, hectic life — dealing with work, balancing multiple jobs, family stuff, and some other personal issues that often take me away for extended periods of time... I mean, chapter 3 was supposed to release November 12th — good grief!
I wanted to make this because I got a few comments and messages asking if I dropped the story and wondering about chapter release dates, unfortunately I can't say or give a set date for chapter releases, mainly because of how inconsistent my day-to-day is. However, I can say I don't plan on dropping this story until it's done and considering how long it took Zenless Zone Zero to get through the first arc of its story, safe to say Tales from New Eridu will have a healthy future.
I really love Zenless Zone Zero, so I can definitely see myself sticking with it.
Another thing I wanted to address, something that adds onto my crazy schedule, is my other on-going story that I'm actively writing for alongside Tales from New Eridu, the difference between them is that my other story has gotten to a point where basic chapter length is around 30,000 to 60,000 words long. There's a lot that goes into that, so I have to try and find a balance between the two since they both have a healthy following on top of some special projects I have going on in the background.
I don't remember if I touched on this before, but Tales from New Eridu is currently following the early story beats of the source material purely to get the introduction started and properly introduce the characters and the universe. I know that's a little weird writing for a story where you're introducing characters in a fandom already familiar with universe, but you'd be surprised how many newcomers will read something from a fandom they've never been apart of and stick with it without engaging with the original source material because lack of gaming console or whatever the case may be.
I wanted to speak on this so readers will know that original story content is slowly being integrated and, as some of you have probably seen, I've pieced together certain events to line them up with the story proper, like integrating Qingyi's character short from the ZZZ YT channel and having that place somewhere in the timeline between numbered chapters. There's also the "Crumbled Report" distraction as well, which is original content but it's written by an established character from within Zenless Zone Zero and is going toward blending the original stuff with the established ZZZ stuff we know.
I don't know who this pertains to, but things like shipping and romance is going to be tackled with Tales from New Eridu, and it'll be a first for me so I'm hoping I don't butcher my first attempt at relationship building. Fair warning, I don't do harems so there won't be any one guy or girl getting thousands of love interests... I don't think I have the talent or patience to balance so many clashing personalities into a single open relationship. So, uh, sorry to disappoint XD
I don't know if I'm explaining myself too well, but I'm hoping the basic point is getting across and I'm building intrigue for the buildup between an original Zenless Zone Zero story blending with what we have — Kingdom Hearts is a big inspiration for me, so if you're a fan of that, I'm sure stuff like this is nothing new to you.
Again, sorry for the wait, but I appreciate all of you who have supported me thus far and continue to show love. I honestly wasn't expecting this story to gain the traction it did, so when I see your comments I get overwhelmed with joy and I have to take time to process that there are people out there who enjoy my nonsense even if it doesn't make sense.
I hope we can continue to grow together and look forward to the future of what Zenless Zone Zero has to offer us.
If you have any questions, I'll always find time to get back to you when I can. So don't be afraid to leave anything you may be curious about as long as its within my power to answer.
You can also expect to see more of these Writer Updates later on, by the way. I'll use these in case I'm gone for too long or have something to share with you.
