Several months have passed since Ruby and Yang boarded Beacon Academy and a lot has happened since then.
First, the two sisters found themselves on the same team with two other young girls: Weiss Schnee, heiress to the Schnee Dust Company and Blake Belladonna thus forming Team RWBY with Ruby as leader. Needless to say that Summer, Taiyang, Cinder and Salem were proud of the youngest member of the family.
In addition, Ruby and Yang also became friends with members of another team: Pyrrha Nikos, Nora Valkyrie, Lie Ren and Jaune Arc of Team JNPR. Pyrrha was a Mistral Champion and very well known all around Remnant as the 'Invincible Girl'. Jaune was apparently pretty clumsy and shy… and a terrible fighter at first (thankfully, he was a bit better now). As for Nora, she was energetic (apparently as much as Ruby !) and loved pancakes while Ren was a calm and posed young man.
Summer and Salem were happy that Yang and Ruby were having some good friends at Beacon.
Unfortunately, the beginnings of Team RWBY were anything but rosy... Weiss was, for a time, furious at not having been named group leader in place of Ruby. Luckily it didn't last long and now Ruby and Weiss are very close. Later, Blake accidentally revealed that she was not only a Faunus but a former member of the White Fang before running away for some time. A few days later, the team reunited and now they are united once again… after stopping a Dust robbery by Roman's henchman.
Speaking of Roman Torchwick, he died in prison... apparently he was (from what the police suggested) poisoned by a rival and whoever it is is now the head of Roman's lackeys.
Other than that, the rest of Team RWBY's first semester went well... no adventures of any kind, just classes, homework... In short, a simple school life in short.
For Summer and Salem, however, it was a different story...
While Ruby and Yang were at Beacon, the two women decided to wait until their first semester before revealing the existence of the Hidden World to them. Taiyang, already knowing, suggested that their daughters could bring their teammates along to have another reason to be close but both were reluctant to the idea.
The two women didn't know Blake and Weiss, although Yang and Ruby spoke of them fondly, and they were both afraid that one or the other would reveal this secret to their parents. Jacques Schnee, the CEO of the Schnee Dust Company and Weiss's father, would not hesitate to invade the Hidden World and thus create conflict with its inhabitants.
A shiver passed through their bodies at the thought of what the King of the Hidden World would do in retaliation.
After hours of debate, Summer and Yang decided to go to the Hidden World to ask their friends for advice. Some thought it would be better if only their daughters came (Lord Scalanis) while others thought that all members of Team RWBY should come because a team should not be divided by secrecy (Aurora, Queen Shannyria).
When the Dragon King, Ancalagon the Black, heard about this, he decided that Weiss and Blake were allowed to come... but on the condition that upon their arrival, both would be forced to undergo a magical oath. Thanks to this, there will be no risk of lying in the future... even when they return home.
Happy with the compromise, Summer and Salem returned to Patch where they delivered the news to Taiyang.
Which bring us back to present…
It had been three days since the end of the first semester and the members of Team RWBY were all in their rooms at Beacon, relaxed. Weiss was sitting on her bed, which was next to her art and luggage, while Blake was reading her favorite book 'Ninjas of Love' while sitting on her own bed.
Books were used to raise Yang's own bed over it by placing the novels on the posts. As for Ruby's bed, it was hanging from ropes on the ceiling with a blanket used as a tent over it… right above Weiss.
Speaking of Ruby and Yang, one was watching videos on her scroll while the other was listening to music through headphones to avoid disturbing the others. Everyone was wearing their usual clothes and going about their business.
But their moment of peace ended when Yang's scroll rang, marking the end of a good musical moment for the blond. Yang wanted to growl in annoyance at having her moment ruined… until she saw WHO was calling her.
"Ruby !" Yang called out to her sister in a hurried tone.
"What is it, Yang ?" the 15 years old girl asked her older sister with curiosity, pausing her video for a moment.
"It's Mom !" was the blond's answer.
At these words, Ruby let out a gasp of pleasure and joy before a squeal escaped her mouth. The squeal was so high pitched that Blake couldn't suppress a hiss of pain and irritation, covering her cat ears with her hands. Weiss, too, looked annoyed and shot a glare at the bed above her, where Ruby was.
Weiss Schnee is a pale-skinned young woman with pale blue eyes and long white hair pulled back into an off-center ponytail on the right side and pinned with a silver, icicle-shaped tiara. Without heels, Weiss stood at 4' 11" but when she does, it raised her height to 5' 3". She had a scar running down her left eye and face.
She was wearing a thigh-length strapless dress with a faint color gradation from white to pale blue at the hem. A small piece of black lace was sitting in the front of her neckline and the hem of the dress is scalloped and stitched to resemble snowflakes, with layers of white tulle under the skirt. Over this, she wore a bell-sleeved bolero with the same color gradation as her dress from shoulder to wrist, lined in red and with a ruffled collar. On the back of the bolero was the Schnee Crest.
Blake Belladonna is a fair-skinned young woman with wavy black hair and amber eyes who was wearing a black, buttoned vest with coattails and a single silver button on the front. Underneath this is a white, sleeveless, high necked, crop undershirt and white shorts with a zipper on the front of each leg.
She was also wearing black low-heeled boots and full stockings with a color gradation of black to purple at her ankles. Her emblem was visible on the outside of both thighs just below her shorts in white. On her left arm was a black detached sleeve with a silver cuff around her bicep, and black ribbons are wrapped around both forearms. A small, loose, black scarf is wrapped around her neck.
Anyway, Yang, her, was unperturbed by the sound and instead, released a chuckle of fond amusement before answering the call.
"Hey, Mom ! What's up ?" she asked Summer through the device with a smile.
"Hi, Mom !" Ruby said with a bright smile as she was standing right next to her older sister.
"My little Rose, My Little Sun Dragon (chuckles of amusement escaped Blake's and Weiss's mouthes at the nicknames but was ignored for now), I'm sorry to call you like this but it is really important..."
Hearing their mother's serious tone, Yang and Ruby's faces lost their enthusiasm at his words and Blake and Weiss stopped their giggling to give way to deep silence. The two sisters were glancing at one another with frowns of confusion, wondering what was going on.
"What is it, Mom ?" Ruby asked her with curiosity mixed with slight fear and concern.
"I'm afraid I won't be able to say it through this call, my dear... This is something that needs to be said face to face..." Summer answered in a grave tone as a look of seriousness appeared on her face.
Whatever it was, it must be pretty important and VERY important, both girls thought, because if it wasn't, Summer would have told them right away.
"Does that mean we are returning home ?!" Ruby asked Summer with another bright smile, momentarily shaking off her confusion and curiosity about being back on Patch with the rest of the family.
"Yes, sweetheart ! Your father is speaking with dear Ozpin as we speak and your aunt is calling for Cinder !" Summer answered her daughter with a smile on her face.
Yang's and Ruby's curiosity grew even more at those words but they didn't say anything. Meanwhile, Weiss and Blake shared a look of equal confusion and slight concern for their teammates. Thankfully, they both respectfully staid silent as it was not their concern… at least for now.
"We're leaving immediately! With luck, we'll be home in a few hours..." Yang replied with a firm expression on her face while Ruby nodded with determination.
It was a rare sight to see the leader of Team RWBY acting so serious but considering the situation, no one could judge her for it.
"Good... but before you go, I have one last thing to tell you..." Summer retorted with a serious look gain.
"What is it ?" Yang asked her mother with a curious raised eyebrow while Ruby leaned her head closer while looking at Summer with shining eyes of curiosity.
"Your two teammates are free to come as well..." was their answer.
At these words everyone, including Blake and Weiss, blinked in surprise and shock, none of them expected to hear that from Summer. The two concerned once again looked at one another with surprise and confusion but they were also nervous. It would be the first time they would meet members of their teammates' family and they were nervous : Weiss because she is a Schnee and Blake because she is a Faunus.
"Huh, can I ask why, Mom ?" Ruby asked her mother while shooting a confused glance at her older sister who merely shrugged back, having no answers to give.
"Is it so surprising of me to want to meet my beloved daughters' teammates ?" Summer retorted calmly but still with a serious expression on her face.
"MOM !" Yang and Ruby cried out in embarrassment while Blake and Weiss silently snickered in amusement.
Summer stared at the two in amusement before adding "But that's not the only reason... What me and your aunt have to tell you is very important... sharing it with your teammates will strengthen the bond that unites you all... Because a divided team always ends by dissolving and I doubt that's what you want… right ?"
Yang, Ruby, Blake and Weiss all shook their heads in the negative… even if the last two were unseen by Summer at the moment. Although at first there was a lot of tension, the four girls became literally close. They do NOT want to see their team being disbanded.
Summer looked at them momentarily, her silver eyes scanning her two daughters, before clapping her hands enthusiastically.
"So, it's settled ! Now get your adorable butts back here or I'll send you Cinder !" the woman said with dark enthusiasm while smirking deviously at Yang and Ruby.
At these words, both girls wanted to scream at their mother with embarrassment… but then paled drastically at the second part of the sentence, expressions of fear and terror appearing on their faces. Don't get them wrong, they loved Cinder but she was GOD DAMN SCARY !
Deliberately not noticing their dread, Summer waved at them before ending the call with a 'I love you girls !', leaving them in their terror.
For a moment, there was nothing but silence until Yang broke it by saying shakily "Well… we better go… I'm curious to see what this is all about..."
Ruby nodded quickly, bobbing her head up and down at an astonishing speed. It was a miracle she still had her head on her neck !
Blake, however, saw this as an opportunity to get revenge for all the time Yang made jokes and bad puns and so, cooed at the blond teasingly "Is that ? Are you sure it isn't about avoiding this Cinder character ?~"
Yang stiffened at those words before shooting a glare at the Cat Faunus who smirk only widened, not at all bothered by the look.
"Honestly, I'm also curious about what your mother had in store for us…" Weiss said in an attempt to avoid dealing with an angry Yang.
At the words, Yang lost her angry look and Blake her teasing one.
"Yeah… It must something really big !" Ruby said with a nod of agreement.
"We will just have to wait and see…" Yang said with a sight, her shoulders slumping a bit even thought herself was curious of what her mother and aunt had in store with them all.
If only they knew…

After getting permission from Ozpin and Glynda, Team RWBY took an airship straight to Patch.
During the flight, no one said anything because all the girls were wondering why Summer and Salem (even though Weiss and Blake knew her name) wanted to tell them.
Weiss and Blake were also apprehensive about their teammates' families, but Ruby and Yang reassured them that everything would be fine and that there was no need to worry.
Ruby, although nervous, was also full of excitement because she was going to see her family again after several long months of separation. Hopefully, Fawkes will also be there... but will the noble bird show himself in front of Weiss and Blake? That wasn't sure…
Anyway, after a few hours of flying, the four girls landed on Patch Island, and as soon as they landed, Yang and Ruby took them straight to their house.
Which brings us back to the present.
"Welcome girls to our humble abode !" Yang said in a dramatic tone while using a hand to gesture at the wooden cabin standing a few feet away from them.
"Home sweet home !" Ruby said with a cheerful smile while jumping around in joy.
"It looks nice and cozy..." Blake commented with an approving smile as she eyed the cabin.
"It does have its charm..." Weiss said with a nod of agreement.
It was definitely a change from the stone and concrete buildings of Vale.
"Come on ! Don't want to get scolded for being late !" Ruby said in a hurried tone to her teammates before rushing forward toward the front door.
With an amused look, the other three girls started walking again, following after their childish team leader. Just as they reached the front door, Ruby was knocking on the door.
"MOM ! DAD ! WE ARE HERE !"
Instantly, the front door opened, revealing Taiyang who looked a bit tired.
"Hey, kiddo !" the blond man said with a wide smile as he spread his arms just as Ruby lunged at him to hug him.
"Hey, Dad !" Yang greeted her father with a wave as she and her two friends stopped before the two.
Taiyang smiled at his older sister, then his eyes fell on the nervous forms of Blake and Weiss who were standing next to Yang.
"I assume you are my girls' teammates ?" he asked in a curious and gentle tone.
Weiss and Blake, seeing that the man wasn't looking at them with disgust or disdain, calmed down a little.
"Indeed, sir... I am Weiss Schnee, Ruby's teammate..." the Schnee Princess said to the man with a small bow.
"Blake Belladonna... Yang's teammate...Pleasure to meet you, sir..." Blake said simply while nodding at Yang's father.
"A pleasure to meet you both… But please, call me Tai… Sir makes me sound old..." Taiyang inquired while shivering.
"But you are old, Dad !" Yang replied cheekily while Ruby was biting her tongue to avoid laughing.
"Cheeky brat !" Taiyang grumbled to his eldest laugher while mock glaring at her.
Seeing these familiar and comical exchanges, Weiss and Blake calmed down further and couldn't suppress the amused smiles on their faces. However, the nice moment ended when Ruby opened her mouth to say curiously.
"Dad ? Do you know why Mom and Aunt Selena want to tell us ?"
At these words, the atmosphere became serious as all eyes fell on Taiyang who now had a serious expression on his face.
"I do… but I won't say anything…" the blond man said after a few moments of silence.
Hearing this, Yang and Ruby both groaned in disappointment while Blake and Weiss also looked a bit disappointed.
"Come in now… they are waiting for you in the kitchen… Cinder is already there…" Taiyang said while gesturing to enter before passing through the door.
The four girls looked at one another for a moment before entering the wooden cabin after the man. From the moment they walked through the door, Blake and Weiss looked around curiously while Yang and Ruby sighed happily to be home again.
But then, a bark caused everyone to stare at the tiny figure rushing toward them.
"ZWEI !" Ruby cried out in joy as an adorable corgi jumped into her arms before licking her face.
At the sight of the dog, Blake panicked as her instincts was screaming at her to get away from the canine. With a yelp, the Cat Faunus climbed up the nearest thing she could find… which just happened to be her teammate Yang.
"Blake ?! What are you doing ?" Yang asked her with surprise and slight annoyance.
"You didn't tell me you had a dog ?!" Blake hissed at her teammate while narrowing her eyes at the corgi currently licking Ruby's face.
"You never asked !" Yang retorted back to her teammate.
"Ruby ? What is this ?" Weiss asked her teammate while looking at the corgi in her arms.
"This is Zwei, my dog ! Zwei meets my bestie, Weiss !" Ruby said with a smile as she moved her arms so the corgi could look at the new girl.
"Are you telling me that this mangy, drooling, mutt… is yours ?! Awww he is so adorable~" Weiss started to say in stern tone... before cooing over the dog as she went to pet Zwei on the head and belly.
Yang and Blake watched the scene in shock and disbelief: the Ice Queen of Beacon Academy was showing an emotion other than her usual coldness ! Ruby and Taiyang looked just as stunned… with the former more than the later.
Sadly, before any of them could voice it, a new voice, a female one caught their attention.
"What's going on here ?!"
Then, a new person entered the room, coming from the kitchen. Yang and Ruby gulped in slight fear at the stern look the newcomer had. And for good reason, because they only knew of one person who had ashen black hair, amber eyes and who usually wore a golden and red dress.
It was Cinder Fall.
"H-Hey Cinder !" Ruby and Yang greeted her with a shaky smile and a wave.
At the name 'Cinder', Weiss and Blake both understood why their teammates were scared of the girl. She didn't looked nice at all and in fact, looked pretty intimidating. There was something about Cinder that screamed 'Don't mess with me !' and needless to say that it was scaring them.
"You took your time… I was just about to go get you..." Cinder said to Yang and Ruby, briefly glancing at Weiss and Blake.
"Traffic was a bitch ?" Yang replied weakly while rubbing the back of her head with nervousness.
For Weiss and Blake, it was strange to see Yang, the confident girl with a fiery temper, to be so nervous around someone. It was a sign that Cinder was REALLY someone to not have as an enemy.
Ruby gasped loudly before pointing at her older sister with an accusing finger "Language !"
Cinder rolled her eyes at Ruby's words before saying to everyone "Follow me..."
With that said, she turned around without waiting for an answer. Look like she wanted this discussion to happen sooner rather than later. A bit miffed by the rude behavior, Weiss was (thankfully) wise enough to not voice it and she, liker Blake, followed Yang, Ruby and Taiyang as they headed toward another part of the wooden cabin : the kitchen.
Upon entering the room, they saw two people sitting on chairs. One looked like an older version of Ruby while the other had blond air and blue eyes. Both were beautiful, Weiss and Blake noticed, and they couldn't help… but blushing a bit.
"Mom ! Aunt Sa-Selena !" Ruby cried out in joy as she rushed toward the two, giving them a hug.
Much to Summer's annoyance and slight jealousy, Ruby hugged Salem first then she went to her. In retaliation, she decided to have some revenge… by embarrassing her.
"My baby girl~" Summer cooed at her little one before kissing her cheeks repeatedly… much to Ruby's chagrin and embarrassment.
"Mom ! Stop !" Ruby cried out to her mother who reluctantly released her from her 'torture'.
Everyone laughed at the exchange until the atmosphere turned serious once again.
Taiyang and Cinder directed everyone to sit down and once that was done, Summer spoke again, this time in a firm and serious voice.
"Well, let's get this meeting started, shall we ?"
