My Hero Academia: Dragon's Spirit - Chapter 1: The Awakening

The wind whipped through the towering trees of the quiet forest, rustling the leaves as a young boy practiced in the clearing. His movements were fluid, precise, as if guided by an unseen force. His fists flowed like water, his feet light on the ground, never once faltering as he followed the rhythm of his breath. The boy was Izuku Midoriya, a child who had once believed he was powerless, destined to only watch others possess the strength he so desperately desired.

But this was before he discovered the Pai Zhuq Academy.

At the age of six, Izuku was chosen, not by force, but by the call of his spirit. His parents, concerned about his loneliness and lack of a quirk, enrolled him in the remote academy, hoping to give him a sense of purpose. It was there that Izuku learned of the ancient and mysterious martial arts, where one's animal spirit guided them toward unparalleled physical prowess.

Each student at Pai Zhuq was bonded to an animal spirit, and through training, they could harness the raw power of that spirit. Some students bonded with fierce tigers, others with swift wolves or clever foxes. But Izuku's spirit was not one of the common creatures—his was a dragon.

When Izuku first encountered his spirit, it was a daunting moment. The beast stood before him, a vast, serpentine dragon with shimmering emerald scales, glowing with an ethereal light. The dragon's eyes locked with his, and for a moment, Izuku was overcome with a sense of awe and fear, a feeling that this creature—this force—was both ancient and eternal.

"You are the one," the dragon had said in his mind, its voice a low, rumbling echo. "Together, we will learn to fight, to protect."

With that, Izuku began his journey, studying the ancient martial arts, moving through forms and stances that awakened something deep within him. His body grew stronger, faster, as the dragon's power surged through him. But it wasn't just physical strength—Izuku learned to channel the spirit's wisdom, to control his emotions and instincts, to use his mind as much as his body. Every strike he made, every block he executed, felt like the dragon's soul guiding him.

Izuku trained for years, mastering techniques that were considered impossible by other students. The dragon's power coursed through him, and with each victory in sparring, he grew closer to the creature. His animal spirit became a part of him—a silent force of nature within his very being.

But then, the tragedy struck. One fateful day, the Pai Zhuq Academy was destroyed, its walls crumbling to dust in a sudden, inexplicable assault. Izuku had been away on a mission with his master at the time, but when he returned, he found nothing but ashes and ruins. The academy's legacy was lost, and the students were scattered, some leaving with their spirits still dormant, others devastated by the loss.

Izuku blamed himself. Had he been there, would he have been able to protect his friends, his teachers, his beloved academy? Was his training with the dragon spirit truly enough to prevent such destruction? The doubts haunted him, filling him with a deep sense of guilt. His animal spirit remained dormant for a time, locked away behind the walls of his heart.

But life continued, and so did his journey.

The Present:

It had been years since the destruction of Pai Zhuq, and Izuku found himself once again standing in the midst of chaos. The USJ attack was unlike anything he had ever experienced. Villains had invaded U.A. High School, and Izuku, along with his classmates, were thrown into the heart of the conflict. The sounds of explosions and screams filled the air as the students fought to protect themselves and others.

Izuku was not the same child who had first walked through the gates of Pai Zhuq. His body had been shaped by the rigorous training of his past, his mind sharpened by the martial arts he had learned. But in the midst of battle, something inside him stirred—an old, familiar presence. It was as though the dragon was awakening from its long slumber.

His heart beat faster as his hand clenched into a fist. The familiar sensation of power, the weight of the dragon's spirit, began to rise within him. The fight raged around him, but Izuku's focus sharpened.

A villain charged at him, a hulking brute wielding a massive weapon. Izuku dodged effortlessly, his body moving like water as he slipped past the villain's swings. The dragon's power surged within him, guiding his movements. He didn't need to think. He just moved. His fist shot forward, striking the villain with the precision of a master, sending him crashing into the wall with a single blow.

The villain crumpled to the ground, unconscious.

Izuku stood tall, breathing heavily. His body hummed with energy, the dragon's presence now fully awake inside him. He had long buried the memories of Pai Zhuq, thinking that part of his life was over. But now, as the fight continued, he realized the truth: his past had always been with him, shaping who he was becoming.

The dragon's spirit was not a thing of the past—it was his strength, his guardian, his power. And with it, he would fight, not just for his friends, but for everything he had lost.

Izuku took a deep breath, his chest rising as he remembered the dragon's words.

"Together, we will learn to fight, to protect."

With the surge of newfound strength, Izuku stepped forward into the fray, his heart resolute, his spirit awakened. No longer was he a powerless boy. He was a warrior, and the dragon was his guide.

The USJ attack had only just begun, but Izuku knew that he was ready.

Chapter 2: The Roar of the Dragon

The battlefield at USJ was chaos. Smoke filled the air, the metallic scent of blood and burnt concrete lingering as villains clashed against U.A. students. The sound of explosions and combat echoed through the disaster zone, but Izuku stood firm, his breathing steady, his muscles coiled like a serpent ready to strike.

For the first time in years, he felt it—the raw, burning energy of his Dragon Spirit. It surged within him, hotter than flames, stronger than steel. The memories of Pai Zhuq Academy returned with a vengeance, no longer buried beneath doubt and guilt. His training had never left him; he had merely locked it away, afraid to face the past. But now, in the midst of battle, it was back.

And he was ready to fight.

A massive villain, nearly seven feet tall with grotesque, jagged arms, lunged at him with a roar. Izuku didn't flinch. He exhaled, shifting his stance.

"Control the breath, feel the energy."

His old master's teachings whispered in his mind, guiding his body. The villain swung his arm, aiming to crush Izuku with brute force. But Izuku moved differently now. His body flowed like a river, his reflexes sharp. He ducked, feeling the wind of the attack just barely graze his hair. Then, with a single, precise movement, he struck.

His fist connected with the villain's ribs—one quick, devastating impact. But this wasn't just brute force. It was power refined by technique, enhanced by the Dragon Spirit. The sheer shockwave of the punch sent the villain flying back, crashing through a pile of rubble.

Izuku's eyes burned with an emerald glow. His heart pounded, not from fear, but from exhilaration. He had forgotten what this felt like—the rhythm of battle, the flow of movement.

"Midoriya?!"

Izuku turned to see Asui staring at him, her wide eyes filled with shock. She had seen how fast he moved, how effortlessly he countered an enemy that should have overwhelmed him. Even Iida, who had been preparing to defend, seemed frozen in place.

"I—I'm fine," Izuku said, adjusting his stance. He didn't have time to explain. The battle wasn't over.

From the center of USJ, Shigaraki watched with intrigue. His decayed hand twitched as his eerie smile grew wider.

"Oh? What's this? The problem child has some hidden tricks?" His gaze flickered to Kurogiri. "Interesting. He's not just using One For All, is he? That was something else."

The Nomu beside him growled, its monstrous form looming like an executioner waiting for its cue.

Shigaraki giggled, his fingers flexing with anticipation. "Let's see how much more he can take before he breaks."

The Dragon Awakens

Izuku could feel the battle shifting. Villains were still pouring in, overwhelming his classmates. He needed to move—now.

A villain wielding twin blades dashed toward him, faster than an average opponent. Izuku's instincts kicked in, his training taking over. He twisted his body, avoiding the first strike, and countered with a rising knee strike to the ribs. The villain gasped, the wind knocked out of him, but Izuku didn't stop there.

"Strike like the dragon—unrelenting, overwhelming."

He pivoted, delivering a spinning roundhouse kick straight to the villain's jaw, sending him sprawling across the floor. The moment his foot touched the ground, Izuku was already scanning for the next threat.

It was surreal. Every move felt like second nature. He had spent so long relying on One For All's raw power that he had nearly forgotten the finesse of his Pai Zhuq training. But it was all coming back now—every stance, every strike, every instinct honed to perfection.

I never lost this part of myself, he realized. I just forgot who I was.

Nearby, Todoroki had frozen several villains in place, his expression calm yet observant. His heterochromatic eyes flickered toward Izuku.

"That technique…" he muttered, watching Izuku move with precise, almost inhuman agility. "That's not just One For All."

Izuku didn't have time to answer. His senses flared as he felt something—something monstrous—closing in fast.

The Nomu.

A deafening crash shook the area as the beast landed just meters away. The air grew heavy with its presence, its grotesque, muscle-bound frame towering over them. It let out a guttural growl, its featureless face unreadable yet undeniably terrifying.

Izuku tensed, his fists clenched. He knew what this thing was—it had taken down Aizawa, had shrugged off everything in its path like it was nothing. This was no ordinary villain.

"Midoriya!" Iida shouted. "We need to retreat—"

"No," Izuku said firmly, stepping forward. His breath was steady. His heartbeat was calm. He could feel the dragon inside him watching, waiting.

This was different from anything he had faced before. But he wasn't afraid.

Because he had already faced a dragon.

The Nomu roared and charged.

Izuku exhaled.

Then, the emerald energy of the Dragon Spirit exploded around him.

And he attacked.

Chapter 3: The Dragon Remembers

The Nomu charged, its hulking form moving with terrifying speed. The ground trembled beneath its monstrous strength, and the air cracked as its fist hurtled toward Izuku with enough force to pulverize concrete.

But Izuku wasn't afraid.

He stepped forward, his breath slow, controlled.

"Control the breath, feel the energy."

At the last moment, he shifted his stance, his feet gliding effortlessly across the battlefield. The Nomu's fist grazed past him, missing by mere inches. But Izuku didn't just dodge—he moved with intention, redirecting the momentum. His body twisted as he planted his foot, his muscles coiling like a serpent about to strike.

"Strike like the dragon—unrelenting, overwhelming."

His fist lashed out, striking the Nomu's ribs with a force that sent shockwaves through its body. The impact was sharp, precise—hitting not just with strength, but with the refined power of the Dragon Spirit. The Nomu staggered, its body reacting to the force despite its unnatural resilience.

For the first time since the battle started, Shigaraki's smug expression faltered.

Izuku exhaled, his stance fluid. He could feel it now—the energy burning inside him, his true power. For so long, he had relied only on One For All, believing it to be his only path forward. But he had been wrong.

The Dragon Spirit had always been with him.

And now, thanks to Shigaraki, it had finally awakened.

Izuku turned to face the villain leader, his emerald eyes burning with newfound determination. "You reminded me of something I had forgotten," he said, his voice steady. "I spent years believing I lost a part of myself when Pai Zhuq fell. I blamed myself for its destruction… for not being strong enough."

He clenched his fists, the energy radiating from his body in waves. "But I was never weak. I just forgot who I was."

Shigaraki narrowed his eyes, irritation flashing across his face. "And what does that mean, exactly?" he sneered. "You're still just a dumb hero-in-training. Your borrowed power won't save you."

Izuku smirked—an expression that surprised even himself.

"You're wrong." He raised his fists, shifting into a combat stance unlike anything his classmates had seen before. It wasn't just a fighter's stance—it was the stance of a warrior. "One For All isn't my only power."

The Nomu roared, its body regenerating, preparing to strike again. But Izuku was already moving.

This time, he wasn't fighting with hesitation.

He was fighting as the Dragon Warrior he was always meant to be.

Chapter 4: Roar of the Dragon

The Nomu lunged, its monstrous form a blur of power and speed. But Izuku was faster.

He stepped into the attack, twisting his body at the last second, feeling the gust of wind as the Nomu's strike barely missed him. His movements were precise, flowing like water yet striking like a storm. The battle was no longer about brute strength—it was about control, about mastery.

"Breathe. Feel the rhythm. Let the dragon guide you."

Izuku's hands glowed with emerald energy, the raw force of his Dragon Spirit awakening fully. He had spent years denying this part of himself, believing that without One For All, he was powerless. But now he understood—his power had never left him.

Shigaraki watched from the sidelines, his red eyes narrowing. "Tch. What is this kid doing? He's faster now." His fingers twitched with irritation.

Kurogiri remained silent, observing the battle with cautious curiosity. "It appears he possesses more than just One For All," the misty villain murmured.

Izuku exhaled sharply, his eyes locking onto the Nomu. "I've spent so long trying to be a hero the way others expected me to be," he muttered. "But that's not who I am."

He crouched low, pressing his palm against the ground. The energy within him shifted, and suddenly, his movements became even sharper. The Nomu swung wildly, but Izuku leapt, twisting midair.

"The dragon flies."

His heel slammed into the Nomu's head—a devastating axe kick that sent the creature staggering. But Izuku didn't stop there. As he landed, he shifted again, driving his fist forward, striking the Nomu's core with the full force of his spirit.

"The dragon strikes."

A shockwave erupted from the impact, the very air around them distorting from the sheer force. The Nomu skidded backward, its body trembling. It was regenerating—but slower. Izuku's attacks weren't just damaging it; they were disrupting it.

Shigaraki grit his teeth. "What is this?!"

Izuku turned toward him, his expression unreadable. "You helped me remember something important," he said, rolling his shoulders. "For that, I should thank you." His emerald eyes burned with the intensity of a storm. "But I'm still going to take you down."

Shigaraki's fingers twitched. "You brat—"

But before he could react, Izuku launched forward, the Dragon Spirit roaring within him.

The battle had only just begun.

Chapter 5: Unleashing the Storm

The battlefield trembled beneath the weight of the battle. Smoke and dust swirled through the air, and the distant cries of his classmates fighting their own battles barely reached Izuku's ears. His focus was locked onto the Nomu, its grotesque form twitching as it tried to recover from his last strike.

But something had changed.

The Nomu's regeneration wasn't working as fast as before. Izuku could see it in the way its body moved—slower, almost hesitant. His Dragon Spirit-infused attacks were disrupting the creature's unnatural healing.

Good.

He rolled his shoulders, letting his breath slow. The energy inside him pulsed, no longer erratic, but focused. Controlled. He wasn't just throwing punches—he was fighting with intent.

"The dragon does not waste its power. Every movement, every strike, must have purpose."

Shigaraki's irritated growl broke through the tense silence. "What the hell is this?!" His fingers twitched, his red eyes narrowing with frustration. "You shouldn't be able to keep up! The Nomu was designed to be stronger than you!"

Izuku exhaled, his emerald eyes locking onto Shigaraki's. "That's where you're wrong." His stance shifted, his body coiling like a serpent about to strike. "You rely too much on quirks. You think power is just about strength, about regeneration, about breaking things apart."

His hand clenched into a fist, the Dragon Spirit pulsing through his veins.

"But true power is more than that. It's skill. It's control. And you reminded me of that."

Shigaraki's lip curled. "Tch. You're starting to piss me off."

The Nomu roared, its instincts overriding hesitation. It lunged—faster, angrier, desperate to crush the enemy before it. But Izuku was already moving.

He sidestepped the monstrous fist, twisting his body with practiced precision. The wind from the attack whipped past his face, but he barely noticed.

"Flow with the battle. Let the enemy overextend."

As the Nomu's arm shot past him, Izuku struck. His palm slammed into the creature's exposed side—not just a strike, but a technique.

"The dragon redirects the storm."

The force of the attack sent a shockwave through the Nomu's body, knocking it off-balance. Izuku used that moment, twisting into a devastating rising kick. His heel connected with the Nomu's jaw, sending it soaring into the air before crashing back down with a thunderous impact.

Silence.

For a moment, nothing moved. Then, the Nomu twitched, trying to push itself up. But Izuku was already there.

He crouched low, pressing his fist to the ground. The energy within him surged, coiling like a storm ready to be unleashed.

"The dragon strikes without mercy."

He launched forward, every ounce of his spirit pouring into the next blow.

"DRAGON'S FURY!"

His fist slammed into the Nomu's core with everything he had. The air around them exploded from the impact, the sheer force of the strike sending cracks spiderwebbing through the ground. The Nomu froze, its body seizing as the energy from the attack ripped through it.

Then—

It collapsed.

A heavy, eerie silence filled the battlefield. Shigaraki's red eyes widened, his fingers twitching violently. "No—no, no, NO! That wasn't supposed to happen!"

Izuku exhaled, his breath steady. He looked up, his gaze calm and unshakable. "Looks like your 'perfect weapon' wasn't so perfect after all."

Shigaraki's hands clenched into fists, rage twisting his face. "You little brat—!"

But before he could do anything, Kurogiri's portal swirled beside him. "We need to leave," the misty villain said, his voice unnervingly composed. "This battle is lost."

Shigaraki seethed, glaring at Izuku one last time. Then, with a snarl, he stepped through the portal and disappeared.

The USJ battle was over.

Izuku let out a slow breath, his fists unclenching. His body ached, his muscles screamed in protest, but he felt alive. The energy of his Dragon Spirit was still there, burning steadily within him.

For the first time in years, he felt whole.

As the dust settled, his classmates slowly approached, their faces filled with shock.

Kirishima stared at him, eyes wide. "Dude… what was that?!"

Izuku wiped the sweat from his brow, a small, confident smile forming on his lips. "That?" He looked at his hands, feeling the power that had always been there.

"That was me remembering who I really am."

Chapter 6: The Weight of the Past

The aftermath of the USJ attack was chaos. Heroes arrived in waves, securing the area, tending to injuries, and gathering statements from the shaken students. But Izuku barely noticed any of it.

His body still burned from the fight, not just from exhaustion, but from the energy of his Dragon Spirit still coursing through his veins. He had never let it fully awaken like that before—not since Pai Zhuq Academy.

And now that it was back… he couldn't ignore it anymore.

"Midoriya," Aizawa's voice snapped him out of his thoughts. The teacher was wrapped in bandages, clearly worse for wear, but his eyes still held their usual sharpness. "You… fought differently today."

Izuku tensed. He had expected questions. He had felt the stares of his classmates ever since the battle ended. He knew this conversation was coming.

He swallowed and nodded. "Yes, sir."

Aizawa studied him for a moment before sighing. "I'm too tired for this right now. But we'll talk soon. Don't think I didn't notice what you did."

With that, he walked off to help secure the area.

Izuku exhaled. That was one conversation delayed, but there were still others he couldn't avoid.

"Midoriya!"

He turned just in time to see Uraraka, Iida, and Asui rushing toward him.

"That was amazing!" Uraraka blurted out, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "You were moving so fast! And that glowing energy—what was that?"

"Indeed," Iida added, adjusting his glasses. "Your fighting style was completely different from how you usually move with One For All. It was as if you were… trained in a different discipline entirely."

Izuku hesitated. He had never told anyone about his time at Pai Zhuq Academy. Not because he wanted to hide it, but because he had believed it didn't matter anymore. That part of his life had ended when the academy was shut down.

But now?

Now he knew it was still a part of him.

He took a breath, steadying himself. "It's… something I learned a long time ago. Before U.A. Before One For All. I was trained in a place called Pai Zhuq Academy. It wasn't a normal school—it was a place where people learned to harness their Animal Spirits to fight."

"Animal Spirits?" Asui tilted her head. "Like a quirk?"

Izuku shook his head. "No… it's different. It's not something you're born with like a quirk. It's something you connect with. Everyone at Pai Zhuq trained to understand their own spirit and unlock its power through martial arts. My Animal Spirit is the Dragon."

The three of them stared at him, processing his words.

Uraraka was the first to speak. "Wait… so that's what you were using against the Nomu? That wasn't One For All?"

Izuku nodded. "Not exactly. I was using both." He clenched his fist, feeling the dual power within him. "For so long, I only relied on One For All's strength, thinking it was my only way to be a hero. But… today, I finally remembered that I had another path, too."

Iida crossed his arms, deep in thought. "Why haven't you ever mentioned this training before?"

Izuku hesitated, his expression darkening. "Because… Pai Zhuq Academy was destroyed. And I blamed myself for it."

The air grew heavy. His friends didn't push, but he could see the concern in their eyes.

Before anyone could say more, a new voice broke through the conversation.

"Midoriya."

Todoroki stood a few feet away, his gaze unreadable. He had been watching, listening.

Izuku turned to him. "Todoroki."

"You said your power wasn't just One For All," Todoroki said, stepping closer. "That means you've been hiding this from everyone, too."

Izuku clenched his jaw. "I wasn't hiding it. I just… I thought it didn't matter anymore."

Todoroki studied him for a moment before nodding. "It does. And now I want to see how strong it really is."

Izuku blinked. "Wait… are you saying—"

Todoroki's eyes glinted with quiet determination.

"Fight me. Show me your Dragon Spirit."

Chapter 7: The Dragon vs. The Ice

The training grounds behind U.A. were silent, the air thick with tension. The sun had just begun to set, casting long shadows over the open field where two students stood facing each other.

Izuku Midoriya.

Shoto Todoroki.

Word of their upcoming spar had spread fast. A small crowd of students had gathered, eager to see what had been hinted at during the USJ attack—Izuku's Dragon Spirit.

"Are you sure about this?" Uraraka asked, concern lacing her voice.

Izuku nodded, rolling his shoulders. "Yeah. Todoroki wants to see my strength… and honestly, I want to see it too."

Todoroki's mismatched eyes were cold but focused. "I saw what you did against the Nomu," he said, stepping forward. "It wasn't just power—you were fighting differently. No wasted movement. No hesitation. You weren't just using brute force like you do with One For All."

Izuku met his gaze. "That's because One For All is only half of what I can do." He tightened his fists, feeling the steady pulse of his Dragon Spirit beneath his skin. "And today… I'm going to fight with everything."

Aizawa, still bandaged from USJ, had reluctantly agreed to oversee the match. "No serious injuries," he reminded them. "This is a spar, not a battle to the death. If I say stop, you stop."

Both boys nodded.

"Begin."

Todoroki wasted no time. He slammed his foot forward, sending a wave of ice racing across the ground toward Izuku. The temperature dropped instantly, frost forming in the air.

Izuku moved.

He darted forward, his body flowing like water. His instincts sharpened, his training from Pai Zhuq Academy kicking in. Instead of dodging wide, he stepped into the attack, planting his foot and redirecting his momentum.

"The dragon moves with the storm."

He vaulted over the ice, twisting mid-air as he closed the distance between them. Todoroki barely had time to react before Izuku struck—his fist lashing out, aimed straight for Todoroki's shoulder.

Todoroki raised his ice-covered arm just in time to block. The impact sent a shockwave through the ground, cracks forming beneath them.

The gathered students gasped.

"He's fast," Kaminari murmured.

"And he's not even using One For All at full power," Kirishima added, eyes wide.

Todoroki slid back but didn't falter. Without hesitation, he swept his arm outward, unleashing jagged ice spikes straight toward Izuku.

Izuku inhaled, feeling the energy surge through him. His feet barely touched the ground before he launched himself forward, weaving between the ice formations with inhuman precision. His movements weren't just quick—they were refined.

Then, he struck.

"The dragon's strike is swift and decisive."

He twisted mid-air, bringing his heel down in a devastating axe kick aimed at Todoroki's ice-covered arm. The moment his foot connected, a shockwave erupted, shattering the ice on impact.

Todoroki's eyes widened in shock. "What—"

But Izuku wasn't done. He spun again, using the momentum to drive his elbow toward Todoroki's ribs. Todoroki barely managed to coat his side in ice before the strike connected, sending him skidding backward.

For the first time in the match, Todoroki hesitated.

Izuku landed smoothly, his emerald eyes locked onto his opponent. "You're holding back," he said. "You're only using your ice."

Todoroki's expression darkened. "That's all I need."

Izuku exhaled, steadying himself. "That's not true. And you know it." He took a stance, the energy within him pulsing. "You're not fighting me seriously, Todoroki. You're fighting your father."

A tense silence filled the training grounds.

Todoroki's fists clenched. He wanted to argue, to deny it. But the look in Izuku's eyes told him everything.

Izuku understood.

"I don't care about Endeavor," Izuku continued. "I don't care about what he wants from you. I want to fight you, Todoroki. All of you."

Todoroki's breath hitched. Memories of his father's harsh training flashed through his mind. The pain. The anger. The fear.

But Izuku's words cut through them.

I want to fight you.

Not Endeavor's son. Not a weapon.

Just Todoroki Shoto.

Slowly, the temperature around them shifted. The frost in the air began to dissipate. A warmth began to build—a flicker of something that had been buried for years.

Todoroki looked down at his left hand. The one he had refused to use.

His fingers twitched.

Then, for the first time in a long time… flames sparked to life.

The crowd gasped.

Izuku smiled. "That's more like it."

Todoroki exhaled, his mismatched eyes burning with new resolve. "Alright, Midoriya. You wanted to fight me?"

The flames on his left side roared to life, contrasting against the ice still clinging to his right.

"Then let's go."

Chapter 8: Fire and Fury

The flames danced across Todoroki's left side, flickering with raw intensity. The heat clashed against the lingering frost in the air, creating a swirling storm of opposing forces.

For the first time, Todoroki was using both halves of his power.

And Izuku felt his heart race with excitement.

The gathered students murmured in awe, their eyes locked onto the battle unfolding before them.

"He's… using fire," Kirishima muttered.

"Yeah," Kaminari said, wide-eyed. "Midoriya actually got him to use it."

Aizawa watched carefully, but he made no move to stop them. This is what Todoroki needed.

Todoroki clenched his fists, the flames surging brighter. "I don't know what it is about you, Midoriya," he admitted, his voice steady. "But you make me want to fight seriously."

Izuku smirked, shifting into his stance. His Dragon Spirit pulsed through him, the energy balanced and controlled. "Good. Because I won't accept anything less."

Then, they moved.

Todoroki struck first, hurling a wave of fire toward Izuku. The heat rushed forward, distorting the air around it.

Izuku dived into it.

"The dragon does not fear the flames—it becomes them."

With perfect timing, he twisted mid-air, redirecting his body just enough to avoid the brunt of the heat. He landed with a roll, barely singed, and surged forward.

Todoroki's eyes widened, but he reacted quickly, forming jagged ice spikes to block Izuku's path.

Izuku didn't stop.

Instead of dodging, he attacked. His fist lashed out, striking the ice directly. But this wasn't just brute strength—this was precision. His energy surged into the ice, shattering it apart from within.

Before Todoroki could react, Izuku was in front of him.

"The dragon strikes with no hesitation."

Izuku's fist connected with Todoroki's side, sending him skidding backward. But instead of wincing, Todoroki smirked.

A blast of flames erupted from his left hand, forcing Izuku to leap back. The fire raged, carving a burning path across the battlefield.

"You're fast," Todoroki admitted. "And strong. But you're still holding back, too."

Izuku blinked. "What?"

"You said One For All wasn't your only power," Todoroki said, his flames still burning. "But you've barely used it. You're relying on your Dragon Spirit."

Izuku exhaled, his fists tightening.

He wasn't wrong.

Ever since the USJ incident, Izuku had been choosing to rely on his martial arts, on his own power. But this fight wasn't about proving one ability was better than the other. It was about who he was as a fighter.

And he wasn't just the Dragon Warrior.

He was Izuku Midoriya.

And he had both.

Izuku grinned. "You're right." He crouched low, taking a deep breath. The energy of his Dragon Spirit surged. At the same time, electricity crackled along his arms, One For All's power flickering to life.

The two forces swirled together, neither overpowering the other—balanced.

Todoroki's eyes narrowed. "There it is."

Izuku's eyes burned with determination. "Now let's finish this."

With a roar, the two charged at each other, their powers colliding in a storm of fire, ice, and raw energy.

Chapter 9: The Storm Breaks

The moment Izuku and Todoroki clashed, the air exploded with energy. Fire roared, ice shattered, and the ground beneath them cracked under the force of their battle.

Izuku's fists crackled with One For All, but his movements were refined—every strike, every step calculated through his Dragon Spirit training. He weaved through Todoroki's blazing attacks, redirecting the flames with precise movements instead of outright dodging.

Todoroki wasn't holding back anymore. His fire burned hotter, his ice shot faster, but Izuku met him head-on, refusing to let either element overwhelm him.

"The dragon does not fear the storm—it dances within it."

Izuku moved, his body a blur of green energy and lightning. He struck low, aiming for Todoroki's ribs, but Todoroki pivoted at the last second, retaliating with a stream of ice. Izuku planted his foot and flipped over it, twisting mid-air to bring down a devastating axe kick.

Todoroki raised an ice barrier—too slow.

Izuku's heel shattered through, forcing Todoroki to stumble back.

But Todoroki didn't falter. Instead, he unleashed a massive blast of fire, the heat so intense it warped the air.

Izuku didn't hesitate.

He exhaled sharply, feeling the energy coil within him. Instead of dodging, he met the flames head-on. His body glowed with a brilliant golden aura—Dragon Spirit fully unleashed.

"The dragon embraces the fire, for it is born from it."

With a roar, Izuku punched straight through the flames. His fist connected with Todoroki's chest, sending shockwaves rippling through the field.

Todoroki's eyes widened. The impact lifted him off his feet, sending him flying back. He crashed into the dirt, his flames flickering out as he gasped for breath.

Silence.

The watching students were stunned.

"He just—" Kirishima started.

"He punched through fire," Kaminari finished, his jaw slack.

Even Aizawa, normally unreadable, raised an eyebrow.

Izuku stood firm, breathing heavily but controlled. His body still glowed faintly with golden energy, One For All sparking in sync with it.

Todoroki groaned, pushing himself up onto his elbows. He coughed but managed a smirk. "Okay," he admitted. "That was insane."

Izuku exhaled, his stance relaxing. He reached out a hand.

Todoroki hesitated, then took it. Izuku pulled him up.

The tension in the air faded, replaced by something else—understanding.

"You made me fight seriously," Todoroki admitted. "I haven't done that in… a long time."

Izuku grinned. "And I don't plan on letting you go back to holding back."

Todoroki chuckled. "I figured."

The watching students finally erupted into cheers. Uraraka practically bounced over. "That was awesome! You guys were insane!"

Iida nodded, adjusting his glasses. "It was an excellent display of skill and control. Midoriya, your fighting style has evolved remarkably."

Izuku rubbed the back of his head. "Yeah… I guess I have a lot to think about now."

Todoroki nodded. "Me too."

Aizawa finally stepped forward. "Alright, show's over. Everyone back to the dorms. We'll discuss this later."

The students groaned but obeyed, still chattering excitedly.

As Izuku walked off, he clenched his fist.

His Dragon Spirit was back. His true strength was emerging.

And he was just getting started.

Chapter 10: The Path Forward

The night air was crisp as Izuku sat on the dorm rooftop, staring out at the city lights. His body still ached from the spar, but the pain was a reminder—he was getting stronger.

For the first time in years, he had fully embraced his Dragon Spirit. And it felt right.

But now came the real challenge.

"What does this mean for me?"

He had trained for years at Pai Zhuq Academy, only to bury that part of himself when it was shut down. He thought One For All was the only path forward, but the USJ attack had changed everything.

He wasn't just the inheritor of All Might's power. He was a Dragon Warrior.

"So how do I combine them?"

A familiar voice broke through his thoughts.

"You're thinking too hard again, Midoriya."

Izuku turned to see Todoroki stepping onto the rooftop. His hands were bandaged from their fight, but his expression was calm.

Izuku chuckled. "Can't help it."

Todoroki walked over, leaning against the railing. "You were holding back at the end."

Izuku blinked. "What?"

Todoroki glanced at him. "You could've hit me harder. You stopped yourself."

Izuku exhaled. "I guess… I wanted to prove myself, but I didn't want to hurt you."

Todoroki nodded. "You already proved your strength. More than that, you made me realize something." He clenched his fist. "I need to stop running from my own power."

Izuku smiled. "Glad I could help."

They sat in silence for a moment before Todoroki spoke again.

"This Pai Zhuq Academy… you trained there for years, right?"

Izuku nodded. "Yeah. It was my whole world before it got shut down." His expression darkened. "And I always blamed myself for it."

Todoroki studied him. "Why?"

Izuku hesitated. "Because… I wasn't strong enough to stop it. Someone destroyed everything—our masters, our school, our way of life. I don't even know who did it." His fists tightened. "I just know that I failed."

Todoroki was silent for a moment. Then he said, "Then maybe it's time you find out."

Izuku looked at him, surprised.

Todoroki continued, "You're getting stronger. You're unlocking a part of yourself you tried to forget. If this Pai Zhuq was so important to you… then you should figure out what really happened."

Izuku stared at him, his mind racing.

"Find out the truth?"

His heart pounded at the thought. He had spent so long trying to forget the past, but Todoroki was right. If he wanted to move forward, he had to face it.

He took a deep breath. "Yeah… maybe it's time."

Todoroki nodded. "When you do, let me know. I owe you a real fight next time."

Izuku grinned. "I'll hold you to that."

As Todoroki left, Izuku looked back at the city.

Somewhere out there, the truth was waiting.

And this time, he wouldn't run from it.
