A Sentient Watch's Adventures
Disclaimer: I do not in anyway shape or form own Ben 10 nor am I associated with those that do, because if I was I would be a millionaire. This is a non-profit fanwork written solely for the purpose of entertainment. This is in no way canon in any shape or form.
Response to questions or statements:
-NewGuest123: Can't say I wouldn't if I could turn invisible.
-Glad you enjoyed the chapter!
-Guest0508: Yea, I like stuffed crust.
-Yeah, Omni will snark if annoyed.
-Omni will definitely be having a lot of fun messing with them in the future.
-Chronosign: Went back and fixed the mistakes you pointed out, should be good now.
-If I ever get to Alien Force, Omni will definately be giving Ben the silent treatment for putting her in a shoe box for five years. Will maybe do something with Kevin like you suggested if just for laughs.
-TK0421: Same, military fighting and mobilizing is always entertaining for me. I too love Starship troopers, Aliens, and Terminator. Always enjoyed watching ordinary men actually holding their own against other worldly horrors.
-You'll find out this chapter.
-Glad you approve of Ben and Gwen traumatized by the Red's theme.
-Ultima-owner: Pretty much what happened to me. I didn't get to watch it until recently, my parents always told me it would give me nightmares. They were right.
-Some1call4MR-E: I mean, the ship could have been fully automatic. But for this fic, there was a crew of board that the trio just didn't see. But Omni knew as she hacked the ship and dumped the remaining Limax at sea.
-I do have plans on having the extended Tennyson family be more reoccurring. Still thinking on the specifics.
Chapter 17: Hunted
Omni carefully guided the hacked Limax transport vessel on the landing pad at Area 51, AKA Groom Lake or Homey Airport, that the base commander set off for her by orders of the Secretary of Defense. Who was also paying a visit of the base to investigate the alien prison containment facility and the extraterrestrial dropship that he she had sent him. With dozens of Air Force Security Forces and private contractors serving as the base's security force surrounding the vessel as it made touchdown.
Having sent him a fully functional space faring vessel helped to improve her standing with her main contact within the United States government. Further proving to Mr. Keller that she could relied on to provide them with operational alien technology. It also left a silent message that if the military wanted to get their hands on more alien technology with negligible financial costs and minimal risks to personnel in retrieving any credible information on a possible incursion on United States soil, it would be best to listen to her.
Interestingly enough, it turns out that the United States in this universe had their own rabid-response alien mobile task force codenamed 'Blackwatch'. Apparently having replaced the 'Special Alien Containment Team' from the show. Founded in a joint venture by the United States Army, Air Force, and the Department of Advanced Research Projects (DARPA). Turns out they were founded sometime in the early eighties to combat extraterrestrial sightings and incursions on the American mainland. When the Plumbers on Earth were disbanded and the Plumbers withdrew the entirety of their forces away for other tasks, the unit was created to combat aliens and other other-worldly and paranormal threats.
While the American government at the time knew that it was prohibited by the Plumbers to have their own mobile specialized teams to hunt down aliens, a bureaucrat at the tine believed that it was necessary to not be having to rely on the Plumbers to safeguard their nation. Something that shocked Omni, a bureaucrat that wasn't corrupt and only in it for themselves. Instead doing what they thought was best for the people they're suppose to serve.
Completely bananas.
On paper, their goal was to detect, combat, and contain biological outbreaks, both man-modified and natural on United States soil. This allowed them an excuse to evacuate surrounding populations if necessary to hide the existence of aliens from the general public. In addition, they had clearance and authority to call in support from other branches to assist in their operations and even had permission to call in air strikes if need be. Something only the president had authorization to do.
While the unit had not seen much warfare in a while, it's members still comprised of veterans of many counter-alien operations in the past. Managing to combat terrors from other systems and keep the general knowledge of alien life secret from the public eye. With it's current commander, a Brigadier General by the name of Adrian Sharpe, being a genuine and competent leader as he managed to contain many ET incursions in the past.
With the rise of alien sighting across the country, the Secretary of Defense, having been made aware of their presence by her, after reviewing the units performance had decided to boost the units presence to safeguard American lives. Having to do so behind the backs of the rest of the administration, including the president, who were still too busy with things like public approval to sign off on it.
As of right now, a platoon sized force of Blackwatch, commanded by Lieutenant Steel: the same man that hunted Ben during the events of San Francisco in her original memories of the show, was moving through the alien ship, with Omni watching through the ship's built in security cameras as she saw that they were armed with water guns as she had informed them of the former occupants weakness to water. After they had confirmed that the vessel was devoid of life, the secretary ordered for them to move it into one of the nearby hangers, where it would be studied and potentially reverse engineered.
"So, how do you like it, Mr. Secretary?" She asked John. Who communicated with her via his flip-phone as he watched the Limax ship being moved.
"It's quite impressive." Keller admitted. "Just how exactly did you managed to acquire this?"
Keller was not yet informed on Omni's true nature as an alien artificial intelligence. As Omni figured that it would be best to keep her involvement a secret for now. Just in case to prevent her being discovered by the Plumbers or Max and the rest of the Tennyson's found out what she was doing behind closed doors.
"Like I said, sir. I represent an entity that wishes to safeguard Earth and all of Mankind from what lurks in the stars." She answered. "Now, I trust we still have a deal."
"Of course," Keller responded. "Your people will have access to the ship, and I will be making sure that DARPA cooperates with you in the reverse-engineering process."
An agreement she had reached with the older man was that in exchange for her handing him the ship, her scientists and engineers she had managed to gather would be given access to studying it. Using the funds she had acquire from undesirables, she founded a company called "Pathfinder solutions". On paper, it was supposed to be a Department of Defense contractor that conducted research into experimental aircraft, a practice that was the purpose for groom lake. But really, it was her own personal research lab comprised of like-minded people she was able to gather. It was the company that she would be using to develop more advanced weapon systems and technology to level the playing field between Mankind and the rest of the galaxy.
Currently it was headed by a man named Michael Shen, a brilliant engineer that through some unfortunate mistakes in the past left him with mountains of debt, forcing him to work on paying off what he owed instead of putting his mind to work. After settling all his bills, she had earned his loyalty and made him the head of the company, proving him to be a good figurehead for Pathfinder.
"Excellent, thank you Mr. Secretary." Omni thanked. "I'll contact you again if something pops up."
"I'll do the same." John replied. "Take care, Aria." He said. Referring to the name she had chosen for herself when conducting these dealings. Which was her name in her first life before she died.
"What is this place?" Ben asked out loud as both he and Gwen got out of the RV.
"An old town incorporated in 1857 after the discovery of silver." Gwen answered. "Went bust in the late fifties when the mine ran out.
"Why does everything that comes out of your mouth sounds like a book report." Ben sighed. Ignoring the glare Gwen sent at the back of his head.
"Got to agree with him on this." Omni shimmered via her holographic projector. Still in her medieval knight outfit.
"Says the literal computer." The red-haired girl sulked.
"Where have you been, Omni?" Her host questioned. "We haven't seen you for the last ten hours."
"Playing Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory." She shrugged like it was obvious, not revealing what she was actually doing. It wasn't a complete lie, as she did spend several hours playing the epic stealth game which was the equivalent of only a six seconds in real time.
"Splinter Cell?" Gwen questioned.
"Legendary stealth franchise starring Michael Ironside, like it even more than Metal Gear." Omni said with her hands on her hips.
"Is that all you've been doing on the internet?" The ten-year old boy inquired. "Playing video games?"
"Of course not!" She retorted with fake outrage. "I've also been watching shows and movies as well. Just recently watched Heat again. "She revealed. "Your species really does know how to create some awesome pieces of entertainment."
"Okay," Max called out from the engine. "I found the problem, leaky fuel line." He informed as he held the pipe with a shard of Diamondhead's crystals.
"L-Lucky shot?" Ben said sheepishly as he rubbed his right hand on the back of his head.
"Sorry, grandpa. Let me help." He offered as he began fiddling with the dial. "Maybe four-arms can help. Or upgrade."
"Thanks, Ben. But I think I've got it handled." Max declined.
"What about me?" Omni offered with her hands raised. "I can get it done in ten-seconds flat if Ben allows me control."
Max considered it as he hummed. "Ben? Are you okay with it?"
"Y-Yeah, I am."
"You sure, Ben?" The Ai asked more warmly this time, not wanting Ben to feel pressured. "It's okay if you don't want to."
"N-No, it's fine." Ben insisted. Feeling bad about wrecking his Grandfather's RV.
"Right, this should take no longer than fifteen seconds." Omni said as she engulfed Ben in a flash of green light, before revealing him now transformed as Brain storm. Immediately getting to work with his claws and electrical power from his minds. In twelve seconds, the vehicle was as good as new as Omni relinquished control and gave Ben back his body.
"Wow, everything looks better than normal." Max admitted amazed as he looked at the engine that looked like it just came off the assembly line.
"What alien was that?" Gwen inquired.
"A Cerebrocrustacean," Omni answered. "An intelligent crustacean-like species that originate from the planet of Encephalonus IV. Basically, think of them as a bigger and more combat oriented version of Greymatter"
"Why didn't you let me use it before?" Ben asked.
"For three reasons: the first is that right now my dial is locked to only ten aliens for a transformation profile. Second is that I don't trust you enough to increase it just yet."
"Oh, come one!" The ten-year old complained. "I can be responsible."
"What's the third reason?" Gwen asked curious.
"Omni cringed a little, "Yeah, the downside of being one is that they're really arrogant on a genetic level and they always speak in a condescending tone.
Ben inquired. "What's that supposed to mean?"
"Let's just say that the race is mostly comprised of jerks, but every once in a while... they can be even more difficult to work with than a bear on cocaine."
Suddenly, the AI looked to the ground as she went quiet. Real quiet. As if something was wrong.
"What's wrong?" Max asked now on high alert.
"Picking up movement below us. We need to get going." She informed in a no-nonsense tone of voice.
"Why?" Ben asked. "What's the problem?"
Suddenly the ground rumbled as something burst out from under the earth before landing right in front of the vehicle. As the smoke cleared and the dust settled, a four-legged mechanical figure that Omni knew as Kraab, a bounty hunter that was dispatched by Vilgax to acquire her along with SixSix and Tetrax.
"That. That is why."
Author's note: That's it for now. Hope you all enjoyed this update.
Take care, guys, and as always remember... stay frosty, gents.
