"Long ago, when the pyramids were still young, Egyptian kings and Roman emperors played a game of great and terrible power. But those of the empire started a war that threatened to destroy the entire world, forced them to lock their magic in mystical runes caused the destruction of the empire. Now, five thousand years later a boy named Yasuha unlocks the secrets of Tiberius, he is infused with ancient magical energies, for destiny has chosen him to destroy the world as the emperors tried five thousand years ago.
Tiberius ran through the amulet opening doors and running through passageways. "Tiberius, help me!" Someone cried out.
"Murria!" He yelled.
"Tiberius!" She called again.
"Murria…" He stopped running. "Where are you?!"
"He's holding me against my will!" She groaned before screaming in pain.
"Who is?"
"Lucius,he's holding me at a place called Duelist Kingdom…" She winced. "He's got the cleansing Scythe!"
"What's Duelist Kingdom?"
"It's a tournament… your spirit holder is going to getaninvitation in a few days."
"Who is your spirit holder?!"
"Tsushima Inami, are the others with you?"
"I don't know where the others are.I don't even know how I would be able to get Yasuha out to DuelistKingdom, but I will try."
"You have to try!"Another scream echoed around the amulet before everything went silent.
"Murria… MURRIA!"
Yasuha groaned awake. "He's awake." His mother said.
"Mom?" He mumbled.
"I'm here sweety." She rubbed her hand through his hair.
"We're here to." His father said. "How are you feeling kiddo?" His grandpa added.
Yasuha's eyes opened slightly, groaning he wiped his face. "What's going on?" He asked laying in a hospital bed.
"You tried jumping off the bridge, remember?" His mom said.
Yasuha scratched his chest and felt the amulet. He groaned and closed his eyes wishing the amulet would leave.
"Yasuha."Tiberius spoke.
"Go away."
"We're just trying to help, Sweety." His mom replied.
"I'm not talking to you!" He yelled. "I just want this to go away." He cried with his hands over his eyes.
"What are you talking about?" His dad asked.
He wiped his eyes as he shook his head. "You wouldn't understand."
"Talking about things can help." His mom said.
He sighed and looked at them. "You might think this sounds crazy…" He breathed in deeply. "I have a 5000-year-old spirit inside me that is trying to kill Yugi." He said quickly.
His parents looked at each other and then at the grandpa. "What?!" He spoke.
Yasuha sat in his room as his parents talked to his grandpa in the hallway."Yasuha, I need your help."Tiberius said."I know you can hear me."He said when Yasuha ignored him.
"I am ignoring you… I don't want to talk to you. Go away."
"In a couple of days, you're going to get a package in the mail."
"What's in the package?"
"Oh, I got your attention… Why should I tell you?"
"Oh… I don't know, except you need me to survive."
"Fine, but we do it my way."
"No… the last time you took over you tried killing my friend."
"I tried to kill my mortal enemy; your friend is just in the way. Sacrifices have to be made."
"Why don't you sacrifice yourself then?!"
"I am the rightful ruler of Egypt! Atem took away my throne!"
"You tried killing Atem… you don't think I know who you are? You invaded Egypt trying to take over, you're no king!"
"You will not disrespect me!"
Yasuha winced in pain and held his head."I am the rightful king of Egypt; I will become king one day!"
"News flash, rightful king of Egypt! Your days are over, there are no more kings and emperors. Your period is over, period!"
Tiberius shook in anger."I will rule again!"He screamed, echoing all throughout the amulet.
Yasuha chuckled. "Done with your dramatics?"
"I am a king; you are nothing but a filthy peasant!"
"This peasant controls the king."
"You will pay for this!"
"Without me, you are nothing! Without me, you have nothing! I am your ruler!"
"You dare put me on a peasant's doorstep!"
Yasuha looked toward the doorway as his parents fought with his grandpa, his smiled faded as he looked himself in the mirror, looking at the amulet he grabbed onto it. "Maybe I'm meant to have this…" He whispered. "Tiberius?"
"What do you want!" He asked sitting on the ground in his prison or an amulet.
"I'm sorry…" He sighed. "For the things I said."
"What did you say?" He asked softly.
"I'm sorry… what do you need help with? What is this package?"
"You would never be a good Emperor."
"I don't want to become an Emperor, I want to be a "filthy peasant" that helps people in need, now… what do you help with?
Tiberius chuckled."The package you will get is for a "Duelist Kingdom?" He said in confusion.
"What's duelist kingdom?"
"No idea… We need to find a way to get you to said, "Duelist Kingdom."
"You'll have to learn about the strategies."
"I…"
"You don't know the strategies!" He interrupted.
"I know… about strategies!" He said in offense.
"How is everything going?" His mom walked in.
"Good…" He smiled.
"That's good to hear." She kissed him on the head. "We're going home, we'll come back in a couple of hours."
"Okay… mom?"
"Yes, honey."
"When is grandpa leaving for his next trip."
"A couple of days, why?"
"No reason, I just don't want to be around him."
She sighed and sat on the bed. "You're grandpa said it was an accident, he didn't mean to give you the amulet." She grabbed his hand.
"What! He told me it was an experiment, to see what would happen."
His mom looked at him in disbelief. "He said that?"
"Yes! He heard a rumor about anyone who wears the amulet gets fused with the spirit, and he wanted to see if it was true!"
His mom scoffed in discussed. "Get some rest, your father and I will take care of your grandfather. Just, don't think about it, okay?"
"I'll try, thanks… love you."
"Love you too." The two hugged before she walked out, closing the door behind her.
"Tiberius… you there?"
"Yeah."
"What do you do while we're not talking?"
"I mostly investigate the amulet."
"What do you mean?"
"The amulet is larger than it looks,it's got thousands of doors, stairs, ladders, andmirrors. Most of the time the doors, ladders, and stairs lead to dead ends."
"Is there anything in there like books or anything to keep you entertained?"
"If there are, I haven't found them."
"I couldn't survive there… I get bored when I can't do anything for 2 minutes."
"You would never be a good Emperor."
"You've said that already."
The door opened as a nurse walked in. "Good morning, Yasuha!" She smiled.
"Good morning!"
"How are you feeling?" She asked looking at his vitals.
"Better."
"That's good…" She handed him a menu. "What do you want for breakfast?
"Hmm…" He scanned the menu. "I'll take the egg sandwich."
"Good choice." She smiled grabbing the menu.
"Can I also get some orange juice?"
"Of course, we'll get right on that." She smiled before walking out.
"Tiberius?"
"Yes?"
"What was it like being an Emperor?"
"Military might, Political power, and public support. It was the pinnacle of power and authority."
"Weird… I was expecting, Cruelty, incompetent, and a tyrant."
"Hey, Hey!"
"Did you work with your people?"
"Me, doing a peasant's job, don't make me laugh! They did my work and brought me food."
"See… Why wouldn't you help?"
"You have a lot to learn to become an emperor."
"I don't want to become an emperor!"
"You'll change your mind, I didn't want to become Emperor either, but my father forced me to do it."
"How come?"
"He died."
"How did he force you if he was dead?"
"When he died; I was next in line, it's all so simple."
"Couldn't you say no?"
"Why would I do that?"
"Never mind."
A knock came from the door before it opened. "Breakfast is ready." The nurse placed a tray on top of his lap.
"Thank you."
"You're welcome…. Did you need anything else?"
"No, I think that's good, thanks."
"You're welcome." She smiled walking out of the room.
"Do you have any friends?" He asked taking a bite.
"I used too, there was seven of us… Caius, Lucius, Postumius, Murria, Titus, Servious, and myself."
"I'm sorry."
"For what?"
"You don't have your friends here with you. We could look for them."
"Yeah, we could, but I don't even know what I would be looking for."
"I'm guessing the person who is wielding a cleansing rune might be your guy or gal."
"Where would we even find them?"
"Maybe duelist kingdom will have some."
Tiberius sighed."Yeah… Maybe!"
A few hours later Yasuha was taking a nap when he was awoken by heavy footsteps coming toward him. Turning around he saw a man wearing scrubs along with combat boots on his feet and holding a needle in his hand.
The man took off the cap of the needle using his mouth before grabbing his IV, Yasuha tried fighting it away from him. Seconds later the amulet started shaking before a massive explosion went off, decimating the rooms around him, as well as leaving a chunk of the outside of the hospital missing. The hospital shook as windows exploded sending glass onto the ground below.
A loud alarm went off throughout the hospital as employees ran around shouting for the safety of the patients.
Yasuha gasped and felt himself. "You… You saved me!?"
"Of course I did, I can't have you dying. I need your body, remember?"
Yasuha looked around the flames to find the badly unrecognizable body of the attacker. "I guess this means we're partners."
"I guess it does."
A nurse ran in shocked to find Yasuha alive, looking around the room she looked at the unscathed Yasuha. "H-How did you survive?"
Looking around he looked at the destructions. "I… have… no idea." He shook his head.
A couple months later, Yasuha was sitting in his room after school, doing his homework. Sighing he wiped his tired eyes. "I'm taking a break." He yawned, stretching."Let's teach you about Dual monsters." He sat on his bed.
"How different is it from Ka?" Tiberius asked.
"I don't know. The first thing you need to know is the type of cards, he grabbed out eleven different cards from his collection."
"The first type is normal monsters…" He placed a normal monster on the field. "They do not have an effect…" He pointed toward the bottom of the card. "It just says (There typing),but that doesn't mean that there not strong."
"The second type of monsters are effect monsters." He pointed toward the bottom. "See, (There typing / Effect), The effects can be good or bad for you."
"What do you mean?"
"What I mean if someone has a flip effect. (There typing / Flip / Effect), that can deal damage to you, that is bad for you but good for your opponent. You lose Life points, which is the purpose of the game, the first person to lose all their life points, loses the game. But it's good if you use the effect damage against your opponent. The closer they are to defeat, the faster you can win."
"This sounds exactly like Ka, if you lose, you die."
"No! Running out of life points doesn't kill the person, they just lose in the game…" He breathed out heavily. "Sorry… look, unless there's a game of life or death, no one dies. Can we get back to training?"
"I'm waiting for you."
Yasuha huffed in amusement. "There are effect monsters that when activated can bring other monsters, or cards from your deck to your hand or onto the field, which is good for you because the more monsters you have on the field can be a good thing or a bad thing, but we will get to the bad in a few seconds. One last thing, before we get to spells, there are some effect monsters that can destroy your opponents' monsters, hand, field, and deck. Which is really good because the faster they can lose cards in there deck, the faster they can get a deck out.
"Now for the spells." He grabbed four of the cards and placed them on the are normal, quick play, equip, Ritual, andcontinuous spells. Normal spells…" He picked up the Normal spell. "Can only be used on your turn. They usually can help you get cards out of your deck or summon monsters which I will get to at the end.
"Quick-play spells you can use on any turn; except the turn it is set. They can block players from using spells, traps, monster effects and summoning monsters onto their field, they can also help you summon monsters and get spells and traps from your deck."
"Equip spells can only be used on your turn, they allow you to equip them to your monsters or to lower or stop an opponent's monster from attacking.
"Ritual spells can again, only be used on your turn, they allow you to special summon some pretty strong monster, I'll get to that later."
"Continuous spells stay on the field permanently, they can boost your monsters attack and defense but only yours so that's the good thing."
"An easy way of recognizing them is, normal spells only have (Spell card) in the top right corner. Quick-play spells in the same top right corner, has (Spell card and a little lightning bolt). Equip spells have (Spell card ) in the top right corner. Ritual Spells have (Spell card and little flame) in the top right corner, and Continuous spells have (Spell card with a sideways 8) in the top right corner." He pointed toward the corner.
"Now for the traps, there are normal, counter, and continuous traps."
"First of all, traps have to be set, and it takes until your opponent's turn to use,now that's out of the way. Normal traps can be used on anyone's turn and can be used to destroy monsters on the field, which is why having too many monsters on the field can be a bad thing."
"Counter traps can negate monster summons, monster effects, spell activation, and trap activation."
"Continuous traps are like the spells so there isn't anything I need to tell you about them, except generally, continuous spells effect your opponent while continuous traps allows you to bring monsters back on the field from the graveyard."
The easy way of recognizing them is, Normal traps only have (Trap card) on the top right corner. Counter traps has (Trap card with an arrow pointing toward the left) on the top right corner, and Continuous traps have the (Trap card and sideways 8) on the top right corner.
"You get all that?"
"Yes… kind of... honestly, I stopped listening after spells."
"Come on… I'm trying to help you. How do you expect to win any duels if you don't know this stuff!"
"I'm kidding, I got everything, from normal to backwards 8."
"How… never mind, I don't want to know. Back to the monsters you can normal summon, special summon,or fusion summon. Normal summon is where you can summon a monster in attack position or defense position, which is how you place your monsters on the field."
"Special summons you need a monster, spell,or trap to activate a special summon, special summoning isn't that special except it could have a powerful effect that can do some serious harm."
"Fusion summon you need a spell card called polymerization or cards that can use an effect like polymerization, but just because you have a fusion card doesn't mean you should have your strategy on summoning it out because there are cards that can destroy them."
"Special monsters, are mostly Rituals summons, which is (The type / Ritual) or (The type / Ritual / Effect)." He pointed to the bottom. "And you have to have the Ritual spell card." He picked up the spell card. "Along with the spell card you have to tribute how many stars the ritual monster has, again I will get to that later.
Fusion monsters, which is (The type / Fusion) or (The type / Fusion / Effect)." He pointed toward the bottom. "Not only do you have to have polymerization or anything like it, but you also have to have the two to whatever how many monsters it takes to fuse it together.
"The last thing you need to know isstar levels. Allcards have stars, there is 1-4, 5-6, and 7-8, I'm not particularly sure if there are 9–10-star monsters. 1-4 you can summon on the field without tributing, 5-6 you have to tribute one monster, and 7-8 you have to tribute two monsters, and I'm guessing if there's 9–10-star monsters you have to tribute three monsters.
"There are some big monsters."Tiberius said.
"Like what?"
"There was a rumor that the Egyptians had monsters that were extremely powerful, we always tried to steal them."
"I'm guessing you were never successful."
"If we were, I wouldn't be stuck in this amulet."
"Let's get back to the ritual summons, if a ritual monster is a five-star, you would tribute a five-star monster, or a one-star monster and a four-star monster, or a three-star monster and a two-star monster, you get my point? Basically, If you have a star level monster equal to the ritual monster you can use that as a tribute, if not you have to add two and two together, does that make sense?"
"Yeah… I mean… I guess."
"What doesn't make sense?"
"I…"
"Yasuha! You have a package!" His mom shouted from downstairs.
"The package!" Yasuha ran out of his room and downstairs. "Where is it?"
"On the table!"
Grabbing the package, he ran back to his room and opened it. "What is this?" He asked grabbing a glove along with two-star-chips, and five cards. One had a picture of the glove with star chips surrounding it, another had an island, another had a ship, one had a pile of gold with a sword and other jewelry in it, and the last one was a white blank card. "What are they for?"
"Don't know… You might want to keep them, there probably important."
"I'll ask Yugi." He stuffed the items in a backpack and ran out of his house. "I'll be right back mom!" He shouted, running through town he didn't stop until he reached Yugi's house, breathing heavily he bent down with his hands on his knees. "I need to look into getting a gym membership!"
"GRANDPAAAAAA!"
"Yugi!" He ran up the stairs and started pounding on the door. "Grandpa Moto, Yugi, are you okay?!"
Téa answered the door allowing Yasuha inside. "What's going on? I heard Yugi screaming."
"Pegasus kidnapped my grandpa!" He shouted.
"How?"
"I don't know!"
Yasuha looked around and found the same items on the table. "You have that too?!"
"Yeah?"
"I got that in the mail as well." He grabbed out the items and placed it besides Yugi's, as he did a letter fell out of the glove.
"What's that?" Yugi asked.
"I don't know…" He picked it up and looked at it. "Why would someone be sending me this?"
"I don't know." Yugisaid.
"Be careful." Téa said as he opened the letter.
Yasuha opened the envelope slowly, looking inside he saw a piece of paper folded into four, stuffed inside. Grabbing it he opened it.
"What does it say?" Tristen asked.
"Dear Yasuha Hatoshi, I formerly invite you to Duelist kingdom. If you win than you can fight against Suta Masashi who is fascinated with your newly found amulet, if you lose you have to give Suta your amulet, Sincerely Maximillion Pegasus."
"Does he mean creepy Kaiba?" Joey asked.
"I don't think so." Yugi grabbed the letter and scanned it. "That's weird."
"What's weird?" Yasuha asked.
"How does he know about your birthday present?"
"I don't know…" He grabbed the letter and scanned it again. "You think there spying on my family!"
"I don't know… but whatever we do, we need to stay calm."
"When does the ship set sail?"
"Tomorrow." Yugi replied.
"We could be walking into a trap." Téa said.
The five looked at each other. "We could never come back." Yasuha added.
"Whatever happens, we do it to protect our families." Joey replied, placing his hand in the middle.
Tristen nodded his head before placing his hand on top, Téa, Yugi, and Yasuha did the same. "For our families, and friends." Téa said.
The five nodded before raising there hands in the air.
"Stay safe… I'll see you there!" Yasuha yelled, leaving the house.
"We cannot lose any of the battles,so you and I are going to build a deck." He said walking down the street.
"Were going to have to make hundreds of strategies for this deck so we can'tlose, and we will not lose."Tiberius said.
A black limousine rolled up its windows before leaving as Yasuha disappeared through the neighborhood.
