"I can't find them anywhere!" The man walked inside, closing the door on his way in.

"They must have gone after Mr. Masashi!" She quickly walked down the stairs. "We need to go after them." She walked past the man and was stopped as he grabbed her arm.

"We should be rational… if we go guns-a-blazing to Mr. Masashi, there probably going to die."

"I'm not leaving them; we need to get them back!"

"I'm not saying we shouldn't." He lowered his head in thought. "Look… any other person or persons, we would make this their initiation. Let them do this by themselves."

"This isn't anybody else…" She poked his chest. "I promised to take care of him!"

"I know you did…" He placed his hands on the side of her head before bringing her into a hug. "I know you did."

"I don't want to let Lucy down." She said softly.

"You're not going too." He rubbed her back. "Anyways…" He pulled away with his hands on her shoulders. "They have the cleansing runes… there going to be safe."

She nodded her head while lowering it. "Where do you think they are?"

The man smiled and hugged her again. "Where they need to be."

Yasuha and Naririo, who were sweating from there hike into Domino City stopped to rest at a corner. "This is about two miles in." Naririo said, looking around. Multiple Businesses stood in front of them as crowds of people walked in front and behind them.

"Where is it?" Yasuha asked.

"Dueling Magician… face the Dueling Magician, whoever wins gets a prize of one thousand dollars!"

Looking around they found a man behind a stand at the end of an alleyway. "That's not at all creepy." Yasuha said.

"That's probably him."

The two looked around them before walking toward the "Dueling Magician" the closer they got they noticed him wearing a red overcoat, with red clothing underneath, red shoes, and he was wearing a smiling jester mask. Below the mask something sparkling caught their attention. "You wanted to duel?" Naririo asked.

The man tilted his head before running away. "Hey!" He shouted, the two ran after him.

"Why are you running away?!" Yasuha yelled.

The guy turned left, disappearing from their view. The two followed and froze as they found themselves looking at an abandoned carnival.

Looking at each other they walked further in. "You wanted to duel?" Naririo asked, his voice echoing through the area.

Giggling echoed around them, and the sound of fast footsteps came from behind causing them to jump around.

"This is starting to get creepy." Yasuha said softly, as they turned around and walked further in.

A carnival tent in front of them flapped open as several rats ran toward them. Climbing on them as they ran past, the two screamed trying to swat them off. Breathing heavily, they turned around to run away but were stopped by a row of clowns blocking the exit. There clothes tattered painted with blood dripping on the floor, they giggled with wide mouths as blood oozed out from every crack.

"Let us go!" Naririo said sternly.

The clowns giggled and chuckled, one of them tooted their horn. "You're going to become one of us!" One of them said with a giggle.

They rose their arms toward the darkened Carnival tent from before. "Go in there!"

"No thank you." Yasuha said.

The clowns slowly walked toward them causing them to walk back. Walking faster, the two stumbled back and fell, stumbling up, they ran as the clowns chased them into the tent.

Breathing heavily, they froze in the entrance. The masked man awaited, standing behind a dueling table in front of them. Tilting his head he pointed at two chairs.

The two were suddenly pushed, stumbling forward they stopped themselves using the chairs. Sitting in the chairs the man followed on the opposite side. Revealing his deck from his coat, he slid his hand in front of it. Shuffling, he placed it on the table.

The two grabbed their decks from there holders and shuffled. "What's the amulet?" Yasuha asked.

The Jester looked down and then at Yasuha again, shaking his finger in front of him, he placed his hand on the table.

After the decks were shuffled, they placed them on the table. "If we win, we get one thousand dollars. What if we lose?" Naririo asked.

The Jester looked at him and shrugged his shoulders before drawing five cards.

The two followed and drew five cards. The Jester grabbed a card from his hand with two fingers and revealed Pot of Greed. Placing it in his graveyard he drew two cards. Revealing another Pot of Greed, he drew two more cards.

Tapping his finger on his chin he looked at his hand, raising it in the air with an idea he placed a card in face-down defense position. Looking at the card he looked at Yasuha and then at Naririo before placing another monster face-down.

"You can't do that!" Yasuha said sternly.

The Jester nodded his head as he leaned closer over the table. Moving his arm closer to Yasuha he poked him in the forehead before pulling back.

Shaking his head in confusion, gaining composure Yasuha made a play. "I place three cards facedown; I then play Y-dragon head in face up attack position and end my turn."

The Jester nodded his head and pointed at Naririo.

Naririo raised an eyebrow. "I place three cards face down; I then play a card in face-down defense position and end my turn."

The Jester raised his finger and pointed at his chest. Drawing a card, he added it to his hand. Tapping his chin again he grabbed confiscation and laid it on the table. Yasuha grabbed the card and read it. "Pay 1000 life points…" The Jester nodded his head and pointed at himself. "Look at your opponent's hand, select 1 card and discard it."

The Jester pointed at them. The two laid their hands on the table. Looking at the hands he tapped his chin in thought. Raising it with an idea he slid Z-metal tank, and Lesser fiend out. The two placed them in the graveyard.

He then pointed at his two face-down cards, flipping them over revealed 2 needle worm. The Jester raised ten fingers in the air before pointing at the top of their decks and then the graveyard.

The two groaned before putting the top ten in their graveyard. He looked at their cards and then at the two opponents. Suddenly he grabbed a card from his hand and placed it in face down defense position, seconds later he flipped it over revealing Morphing Jar #2. Tapping the card, he gave it to Yasuha.

Yasuha read the card to himself and lowered his head. "What does it say?" Naririo asked. He sighed before reading. "Once flipped, everyone shuffles their monsters on the field into their decks and draws the same number of cards we shuffled and then summon all level four or lower monsters on the field. Sending the rest to our graveyards.

The Jester looked at Yasuha and then at Naririo. Yasuha threw the card at the Jester hitting him in the chest. Grabbing the card along with the needle worms he shuffled them into his deck.

The two followed. The Jester summoned Morphing Jar, Naririo summoned Frontier Wisdom. Yasuha couldn't summon due to him not drawing a monster. The Jester pointed toward Yasuha and placed his hand upside down on the table.

Yasuha drew a card. "I play Dunames Dark Witch and attack your Morphing Jar."

The Jester shook his finger before flipping over Nightmare Wheel. Grabbing it he threw it at Yasuha, hitting him in the face.

Yasuha wiped his face, checking for blood. Grabbing the card he read it. "My monster cannot attack or change its battle position for the rest of the duel, or until it gets taken off the board." He threw it on the table causing it to slide into the Jester.

Fixing the card, he pointed at Naririo.

"I draw…" looking at his hand he put a card face down on the table. "I end my turn."

The Jester drew a card. He slowly placed cards from his hand on the table, revealing them. Holding a card in the air he flipped it over revealing final Destiny. Grabbing the five cards from his side, he placed them in the graveyard. Looking at Yasuha and Naririo he collected his cards from the field and held them in his hands. Tapping them he pointed at the two duelists before placing them in the graveyard.

Yasuha and Naririo collected three cards and placed them in their respected graveyards. Pointing at Yasuha he placed his hands on the table.

"I draw…" He gritted his teeth. "Your deck is basically unwinnable; you deck us out or won't even allow us to get a play off!"

He nodded his head and clapped his hands.

"Your turn Naririo." Yasuha placed his hand on the table. "How many have won against you?"

The Jester thought and then formed his hand into a 0.

"Someone will defeat you… I draw." Naririo said. "Not me apparently, I can't draw anything."

The jester placed his hand over his mouth and rocked back and forth as if he was laughing. Drawing a card he pointed toward Yasuha.

"I draw." Yasuha said. "And end my turn."

"We've reached a stalemate." Naririo said. "I draw and end my turn."

The Jester drew a card, placing a card facedown he pointed toward Yasuha.

"I draw, I play Z-metal tank in attack position, I then attack you directly."

The Jester gave him a thumbs up in response.

"I draw." Naririo said. "I end."

Placing his hand over his mouth the Jester rocked back and forth as if he was laughing while pointing at Naririo. Wiping the masks forehead he drew a card. Placing a card in face down defense position, he then flipped it over revealing Cyber Jar. Tapping his chin he looked at Yasuha and then at Naririo. Sliding the card toward Naririo he read it.

"When this is flipped destroy all monsters on the field, everyone reveals the top five cards from there decks and then summon or set face-down any level four or lower monsters onto the field and place the rest in your hand.

The Jester placed a card in face down defense position.

"I summon V-tiger Jet, and W-Wing Catapult." Yasuha said.

"I summon, Twin-headed wolf, three, winged minion, and Yata-Garasu." Naririo said.

Looking at Naririos field he looked at him before sitting back in his chair, tapping on his hand he grabbed a card and placed it on the field.

Naririo glared at him as he tapped the card. Flipping it revealed dark hole.

Naririo lunged forward, grabbing the Jester by the collar. "I'm sick of this game. Give us the cleansing rune!"

The Jester headbutted Naririo, stumbling back he fell down holding his broken nose. The Jester wiped blood off his mask and stared at Naririo.

"Enough!" Yasuha yelled standing between them. "Let's finish the game!"

"This isn't a game!" Naririo yelled. "This is a sick joke!"

"Sit down and finish the game." Yasuha said. "Both of you!" He looked at the Jester.

Naririo growled and sat down, trying to stop his nose from bleeding.

The Jester grabbed his hand and immediately revealed Confiscation. Naririo growled revealing his hand, Yasuha followed.

Tapping his chin, he looked at the cards. Sliding, Mask of The Accursed from Naririo, and Silent Doom from Yasuha's hand he placed two cards face down.

The two placed the cards in the graveyard.

Yasuha drew a card and chuckled. "You lose." He revealed the card he drew. "By activating cost down from my hand; I discard one card, which in turn allows me to change my monsters' levels in my hand, and on the field by two. I then play Kaiser Glider in attack position and knock out the rest of your life points."

The Jester clapped his hands. Reaching underneath him, he grabbed out an envelope and placed it on the table.

"Give us your cleansing rune!" Naririo growled, blood leaking from the openings in his hand.

The Jester shook his head as he stood up, grabbing his deck, he threw it at the two before running out of the tent.

"How did that work out for you?" Yasuha asked.

"Shut up and follow him!" He growled tearing a card in half. Naririo grabbed the money before running after Yasuha and the man.

The Jester passed the clowns causing them to surround the area, Yasuha slid past the them.

"Don't let him get away!" Naririo yelled.

Yasuha continued the chase as Naririo stayed behind with the clowns surrounding him. "I don't mean this to be rude, but you are really freaking me out!" He rose his hands in front of him with his fingers creased while pointing up. His eyes turned black as a black aura surrounded them.

"Begone!"Servious echoed through his voice. The ground underneath the clowns started crumbling before hands appeared, grabbing the legs of the clowns they pulled them into a darkened pit.

Yasuha continuing the chase stopped as the jester was stopped by a dead end. "Give me what I want!" Yasuha said, bending over so he could catch his breath.

The Jester looked around trying to find an exit.

"You're not going anywhere until you hand over the rune." He looked toward the ground. "I need the rune… Mr. Masashi is holding my friend captive."

The Jester stopped and looked at him. Reaching for his mask he dropped it on the ground. His face was melted as it was covered in burns, his throat had a deep red scar around with stitches keeping it together. "He doesn't hold people captive…" He spoke in a low raspy voice, stopping frequently to catch his breath. "He tortures them into submission… Your friend isn't coming back to you as the same person."

"Please…" He held out his hand. "If someone had a chance to save you, would you take it?"

The man sighed. Tearing off his amulet he threw it toward Yasuha. "I hope you…" He winced, his body losing its strength. "Succeed." His body became limp before he collapsed to the ground. Yasuha rushed to catch him but was struck with a blinding pain that went through his back. His legs buckled beneath him as he collapsed to the floor.

Naririo ran around the corner and stopped to see his body. "Yasuha?!" Turning him on his back he checked his pulse, and breathing.

"Just unconscious!" He groaned, picking up his body.

Naririo and Yasuha waited in a hotel room. Yasuha rested on a bed as Naririo paced back and forth in the room. "What's taking so long!"

"Relax." Yasuha replied.

"How can you be relaxed… it's been a week since we defeated the "duelist magician."

Yasuha sat up in bed and slid to the side. "What use would it be to be freaking out… even if I were, she would still be kidnapped." He slid back on the bed. "It seems like the "duelist magician" had more of an impact on you then I."

Naririo shouted and smacked the phone off the wall. "It's been a week!"

Yasuha groaned as he slid off the bed, grabbing the phone he connected it to its platform. Seconds later it rang. Grabbing the phone, he answered. "Hello?"

"Mr. Hatoshi…" Mr. Masashi said.

"Where's Tsushima?"

"Where's the runes?"

"I don't know, where are they?"

Mr. Masashi chuckled. "You'll find them in the middle of domino cities strip mall."

"I want to talk to Tsushima!" The second he asked, the phone call ended.

"What did he say?"

Yasuha growled as he hung up the phone. "The next rune is at the strip mall." Shaking his head he wiped his eyes. "Let's go!"

The two walked through the city until they arrived at the strip mall. A crowd of people gathered around. "What's going on?" Yasuha asked, looking around.

"Battle city…" A duelist said. "If you go to the game store, they will give you a dueling disk and a card. If you collect enough cards, you will get to go into the finals with Seto Kaiba." The kid ran off after finishing.

"I guess this is where Mr. Masashi wanted us." Yasuha looked at Naririo.

"Yeah… we should find these "Dueling disks."

The two walked around trying to find the card shop. Stopping at a building, they read a sign that stood out in front of it. "This is it."

A bell rang as they opened the door. "How can I help you?" A man behind the counter asked.

"We were told to come here for "Battle City?"

"Names?"

"Yasuha Hasashi… Naririo Hidenji."

The man typed in their names, before clicking a few things on the screen using the mouse. "Hmm… that's weird. I'm going to be right back." The man opened a door and closed it behind him.

The two looked at each other. Naririo peaked his head over the counter but quickly backed away when the door opened. "Sorry about that… I had to ask my manager about something."

"Is something wrong?"

He turned the screen around so they could see it. "Your names are here; your rank is here. But your card isn't here."

"What do you mean, card?"

"Each person has a prized card that they're supposed to give away if they lose, yours doesn't have that. I talked to my manager, and he told me just to do it manually. What are your prized cards?"

The two pulled out their decks from there dueling box attached to their sides. Flipping the cards around the man looked at them and then at the two duelists. "To be honest, I've seen so many people this week. I've gotten to guess their prize cards. You…" He shook his head. "I got dead wrong."

He clicked a few more times before typing. "Yasuha… Seiyaryu. Naririo… Fairy Meteor Crush."

He groaned as he bent down and placed two boxes on the counter. Unboxing them he laid them on the table. "Just slide these on your right arm."

"It would suck to be left-handed right about now." Yasuha chuckled.

"Yeah, no kidding." The clerk huffed in amusement.

Once they locked the dueling disks into place the clerk handed them each a translucent card. "These are locator cards, don't lose them. Collect a certain amount and you will be entered into the finale."

"Hopefully we don't stay for that long." Naririo mumbled.

"Pardon?" The clerk asked.

He sighed and shook his head. "Nothing."

"Well… Good luck." He smiled.

"Thanks." Yasuha smiled.
