Chapter 6
The girls got to shore before the guys and continued talking. "So, how do you like Ocean Shores so far?" Trish was asking. Alex bent over wringing out her hair and smiled, "It's pretty good so far." The boys, who had just gotten to shore themselves, watched with opened mouths. Lars whistled when he saw Alex bend over and his friends laughed. "That girl is way too hot to be related to the squid." He commented. "Thanks." Sam answered dryly, as Twister remained silent. Lars noticed this and brought it to attention. "What's up with you dork? You miss Rocket boy that much?" The three older boys laughed. Twister ignored his brother and he and Sam began walking over to the girls.
Hearing Lars cat-calling made the girls laugh. "You totally got their attention Alex." Alex looked over and saw the three older boys grinning before turning back to the girls, shrugging. "Lars is a lot cuter than he used to be." Sherry told her. "Nicer too." Kayla added. "I'm sure he's great. I'm just not interested." "Is there someone you are interested in?" Trish asked, giving her a side glance with a grin. "Who knows." Alex answered as Twister and Sam walked up. "I have to get back. I'm supposed to watch my sister." Kayla said. "Oh crap I'm supposed to make dinner tonight!" Sherry announced. The two girls grabbed their boards. "See you guys later. I'll text you Alex." Kayla said as the girls exchanged numbers. "Want me to walk you to your car?" Sam asked Trish as she reached for her board. "Sure." "I'll meet you guys up there." He told the other two as he grabbed Trishs board for her, carrying it up.
"Sam forgot his own board." Alex noticed making Twister laugh. "I'll grab it for him." He carried Sam's board along with his own as they walked back to the car. They got up there, loaded the three boards in the back and waited for Sam. "Alex peeked at him out of the side of her eye. Twister noticed her eyes on him and turned towards her. "What?" "I was just looking at your tattoos." "This one is a family tradition all the men get at fifteen." He said pointing to his chest. "And that one?" She asked, indicating his arm. He laughed. "That one I got a couple months ago with Lars."
"So what about you? Any hidden ink?" He teased, but was shocked when she gave him a flirtatious smile. "Maybe." "Wait. Seriously?" Where?" His eyes looked down at her body but she only continued to smile. "I showed you mine." "Yours are out in the open." She pointed out. "Please?" He asked, making her laugh. She pulled down her bikini bottom strap to reveal two orange and pink hibiscus flowers on her hip. They stood out against her tanned skin. "I got them before I left Hawaii." "A military dad let his teenage daughter get a tattoo?" "Well, he doesn't exactly know about them. And no, Sam doesn't either." He raised a brow, "So you have a little bit of a bad girl in you?" She blushed. "That's probably the worst thing I've done." "Baby steps." He laughed.
The three teenagers spent the next three weeks hanging out either in the cul-de-sac, madtown and the shack, or biking around Ocean Shores as Alex got to know her new home. Most of the time Trish and Kayla would join them. Sherry had gotten caught taking her moms car with permission one night, so she ended up being grounded for a couple weeks. Twister and Sam both spent time texting Otto and Reggie, but they definitely weren't having a bad summer so far. Twister found out he and Alex had the same taste in movies and, not only did she like video games, she was really good.
A month after Alex moved in, the three were at Sam and Alex's place playing a racing game. Sam's dad called, so he headed into the kitchen to talk to him. Twister and Alex were sitting on the floor against the couch still playing. He bumped her arm playfully. "Hey no fair." She laughed as she bumped him back. He used one hand to cover her eyes so she couldn't see the screen so she reached her own hand out, tickling his side causing him to pull back. "That's low." He laughed. "You started it." She giggled. "Alright that's it…" He said before tossing his controller on the couch and began to tickle her sides with both hands. She fell back on the floor laughing. "Ok ok you win Twist." He helped her sit up, and Sam walked in as they were both laughing. "You guys are seriously weird." "You're one to talk Sammy."
Alex's phone started ringing and she picked it up, still laughing. "Hello? Oh hey Chase…No I didn't see it, did you text it to me?...oh, I haven't checked my email in a while….That's awesome….umm, I'd go with a white tank top and your red button up shirt..no don't button it weirdo, leave it unbuttoned….trust me that's a great look…no problem..Yea video call me when you try it on, Bye."
Twister was watching with a curious look on his face. "Who's Chase? Her boyfriend?" He wondered, surprised by the ting of jealousy he felt. He wouldn't be shocked if she had one, the girl was not only gorgeous, she was smart, talented, funny, and sweet. He was trying to push away the feeling as she hung up the phone. "How's he doing?" Sam asked casually. "He's good. Nervous, his and Jamie's six month anniversary is tomorrow and he's trying to figure out what to wear." Sam laughed, "He could wear sweatpants and she wouldn't care." "I'm gonna head upstairs, he's supposed to call back. I'll see you later, Twist." She gave him a quick smile before walking out of the room.
After Sam and Twister finished gaming later, it was late and Alex was still upstairs. Twister said goodbye and went home. When Twister opened the front door he saw his mom. "Hola mi hijo." (hello son) "Hola ma." (hi mom) "Tienes hambre?" (are you hungry?) "Yea. I'm gonna take a shower first." "Ok, there's a plate in the microwave. I'm heading to bed. See you in the morning, son." "Ok ma." He grabbed some clothes and headed to the bathroom. After a quick shower and brushing his teeth, he walked back into his room, picking up his phone, he saw he got a message.
Sorry for ignoring you. He's one of my closest friends and I haven't talked to him in a week.
Naw don't apologize it's good
Wanna hit the beach with me and Sam tomorrow?
Sounds good what time?
Meet outside around noon?
I'll be there :)
The next afternoon, Sam and Twister took Alex to a different part of the beach where there were less surfing crowds and more families with small children playing in the sand. There were a few teenagers who noticed the three and checked them out, but mostly it was tourists. Twister pulled out the Twist cam and recorded Sam and Alex surfing. Well, mostly Alex. She surfed as good as she skated. He watched as she rode barrels like a pro and was in awe of the way she moved and how she looked in her swimsuit. When she paddled over he gave her a big smile. "Alex, you seriously rock." A couple hours after they started, Lars showed up. He looked at Alex and still couldn't believe how hot she was. He complimented her several times, but for the most part, he just checked her out most of the time.
"You guys ready?" Alex asked the boys after a full day of surfing. The guys were loading their boards as she pulled on a pair of shorts and a tank top. "I told your mom I'd pick up the stuff for Loco moco for dinner." "You're cooking tonight?" Alex nodded, making Sam sigh in relief. "Last time she tried to make Hawaiian, she burned the musubi."How do you burn that?" Twister asked as they got to the car and loaded up the boards. "You know how she cooks." Alex laughed, shaking her head.
Before they got in the car, Lars came running up. "You guys going home?" "I gotta run to the store first. Did you need a ride?" Alex asked nicely. "I'd love one." Lars answered as he loaded his own board before getting in and grinning at his brother. Twister sighed internally. He knew that tone. Sam noticed it too and groaned. Lars was nicer than he used to be but he was a couple years older and a known player. To his relief though, Alex seemed to have zero interest in Lars. A few minutes later they were nearing the store.
After she parked, Alex grabbed her wallet. "You guys going in or staying here?" Lars jumped out of the car. "We'll go in." Sam said quickly. "Good, you can help me find what I need." As they walked through the store, a few teenage boys noticed the new girl and checked her out. Alex, however, didn't notice and continued to grab the items she needed. "Hmmm, should I make a pineapple upside down cake for dessert?" "Heck ya!" Sam answered. Alex headed down the aisle and grabbed a can of sliced pineapples. "Is there anything else we need to grab?" "Let's grab some sodas, then we should be good to go." They finished up and climbed back into the car and headed home.
