I have so, so many ideas here... but I need some help.

The next chapters will be longer, these are just me setting things up.

Anastasia is going to be a huge part of this series. I really liked her.

Three Nights Later- Outside of his shelter

Pouring wine into his chalice, filled with herbs and a few drops of his own blood, Rowan readied himself for a spell. He had already summoned the elements, and felt not great power but the essence of something watching him. He had to stop his crafting for a moment, needing to cough into his elbow. "I hate being sick, I am a sorcerer, I should be above this!" Shaking his head, he combed through the air until his fingers were glistening with magic. Then Swirling his glowing fingers into the chalice, he uttered his spell, breathing in the essence of magic he was already so familar with.

"Elemental forces, for you I have bled. Guide me now, to sanctuary I will be led!"

Soon the wine glowed a deep silvery purple, like plums in moonlight, imbued with enough life force that he felt a great warmth fade from him. Pulling his fingers out of the mixture, he watched as a thin line of silver rise out of the wine and shot off, like a fairy, into the distance. He followed it, feeling it in his chest as much as he saw it. The Light led him out of the alley near his abandoned home, to a street light where it stood like nothing was happening.

Curious, he reached the light, coughing harshly, only for a voice to echo around him.

"Roman Mathews, Night Has Chosen Thee. Hearken to her sweet voice. Your destiny awaits you, at the House of Night."

Whipping around, he literally saw a ripple of magic escape a handsome vampyres finger and slam into him. In an instant, agony burned into his forehead as forgein magic overtook him. He almost fell, but managed to stay upright. The Vamp was gone, he noticed but that didn't matter as tears fell down his face.

"I have hope, as a fledgling, but I could die... most fledglings do." Frowning, he stood straight, looking up. "Hecate, I will use your power to live, to survive the Change! Do not think I will forget you... you started me on a better path. I think you foresaw this. Let's do it."

He would gather his supplies into one bag, before marching to the House of Night, eager to start the rest of his hopefully very long life.

Tulsa House of Night

Anastasia, during one of her many walks around the Campus, felt something that alerted her almost immediately. As a Priestess of Nyx and a Mistress of Spells, her intuition was strong. Knowing to follow that feeling, she turned heel and marched toward the almost magnetic energy pulling her. What she found, when she reached the Gates, was a thick boy marked as a fledglings, armed with a satchel, smelling like sweat and joy all at once.

However, that was not what drew her in... no, she could feel, ever so slightly, the echoes of magic on him. People that performed spells often felt that was for hours after they cast, only some could notice it. She was one of those few.

"Hello, dear one, who are you?"

The boy smiled, putting a fist over his heart and bowing in the traditional vampyre fashion. "I am Rowan Mathews. I am a Sorcerer in training and I... was marked as a Fledging just an hour ago. May I come in?"

"Oh yes, please. We were expecting you."

He smiled, walking toward her before pausing and tipping his head to the side. "You... feel like the earth."

She actually recoiled in shock. "I have a slight connection, though not full affinity for the Earth. How can you feel that, child?"

"I have been studying magic forever, I... recently learned to feel magic, after performing a ritual. It worked, and now I am learning. Though, I only tell you since I can sort of sense that you are trust worthy. Humans, they aren't the most understanding."

That made her sad. "I was a quaker, child, I understand that all too well... now, come, we will get you settled. You were homeless, no?" He nodded. "We can get you some clothes, some toiletries. No one should be unclean when there is the means otherwise." And with that they walked away, with him following her. "I actually teach Spells and Rituals, I do believe you can start early if you show an affinity for it. You seem like you might, sorcerer in training."

His smile was radiant. "I sure as heck hope so... thank you, Ma'am, I have always wanted to be a vamp. It was all I could dream of."

"That is a first, most Fledglings are terrified."

"Anastasia, what are you... oh, a Fledgling." Anastasia froze, before smiling and bowing to the most powerful Vampyre she knew. "Merry Met, Neferet."

And she looked, seeing the boy bowing the same, with wide eyes. It always was so entertaining to see a Fledgling meet Neferet for the first time.
