Chapter 7
It was the start of October, a whole month into the school year and Pixie Masters was already up to her old tricks. Namely she was back to bullying people, aided by her minions, Alicia Webb and Erica Drake. She seemed to be taking quite an enjoyable and evil amount of special joy in bullying the refugees, her main target being Marli Egebe. They had taken a moment out of their 'busy schedule' to target Marli in one of the corridors on the way back up to the Gryffindor Common Room. Marli was simply walking along the corridor, alone as the other students were off doing other things. She had simply stopped briefly to dust off his skirt only to suddenly feel herself being shoved up against the nearby wall.
"Well, well, if it isn't the intruder." Pixie sneered as she stood in Marli's way.
Marli was startled, flanked by Alicia and Erica, blocking her escape, then Pixie's words.
"Excuse me?"
Pixie rolled her eyes. "What, what? I don't understand you, speak properly."
Marli shook her head, seeing right away what Pixie was trying and went to push past her but Pixie shoved her back to the tittering of her loyal minions.
"I didn't give you permission to leave, honestly, you're so obvious, all this refugee nonsense, all this pretending to have lost people." Pixie sneered. "I know you lot are here to spy on our great school, so jealous-"
"More like you've deluded yourself into believe that nonsense, Miss Masters."
Pixie paled and spun around to see Professor Bennett standing there, glaring at her and quickly Pixie and her minions hurried away.
"Miss Egebe, are you okay?" She asked worriedly.
Marli just nodded and politely excused herself. Meanwhile Professor Bennett considered and turned to head for the staff room, she was certain now would be a good time to do something, something that would help put Pixie Masters in her place.

Heading down for breakfast a couple of days later, Pixie was frustrated. She had tried to get people to see the truth. This whole thing about the other schools being attacked, even if it was true, it had nothing to do with them, even though she didn't believe it was true, it was just so obviously fake after all. But nobody seemed willing to listen to her and see the truth. They had to take a stand, put the spies and intruders who had invaded their fine school in their place.
'But only Alicia and Erica are smart enough to see it and help me. Honestly, it's…' She thought bitterly.
Her thoughts came to a stop however when she saw a crowd gathered in the entrance hall, all whispering excitedly as they seemed to be looking at something on the noticeboard. With a grunt, Pixie nodded to her minions and they quickly got to work, clearing the path forward for her to get to see it for herself.
'They should have moved the moment they saw me, they forget I'm obviously more important than them.'
Now standing before the noticeboard she saw the notice and smirked, this would be perfect, she could finally put those intruders in their place, she quickly backed out to head for breakfast, ready to share what she'd read with them and get ready to prove her superiority.

So it was that a special room had been opened up and all the interested students were gathered in it, all gathered before a raised dais upon which Professor Bennett stood, the four Heads of Houses were standing along the back wall too.
"Good, now that we're all here, as you saw on the noticeboard, we have reinstated the school duelling Club and reopened the duelling Chamber. Here is where you can practice your duelling skills and hone your talents." Professor Bennett announced. "The training dummies stationed here are always available for use, but to have an actual duel against someone else, certain protocols must be followed. The sole exception is today as we will all be learning and I will be teaching you some more spells to use for duelling. This is happening in light of recent events and it has been decided you must be able to take care of yourselves, to protect yourselves."
Pixie sneered hearing this. 'Oh yeah, learn to protect ourselves from imaginary threats, when they should be teaching us what to do with these foreign spies.'
The one part that disappointed her as Professor Bennett went over the rules was that she would not be able to do what she wanted to do and put Egebe in her place.
"For any duel with another person, you must inform your head of house and...if they are from another house, their head of house too. The duel will take place here, with an audience and myself present, if I am unavailable Professor Flitwick has graciously agreed to stand in as duel proctor." Professor Bennett explained. "Depending on the type of duel it is...you will follow the rules of that duel, any violation of these rules and you will be banned from the duelling Chamber, permanently."
Her voice brokered no argument and Pixie grew more frustrated, she thought this was the perfect chance, instead, it was working against her, but she still drew her wand with everyone else as the lessons began.
Things had gone well, the lessons had worked out well, a few duels had even taken place, frantic but fun. There was time for one more duel before they left for the day.
"Miss Masters, Miss Egebe. Come on up, you will be our final two." Professor Bennett said.
Pixie felt glee fill up inside her. She was ready for this. It didn't work out exactly the way she wanted it to, but she still had a chance, a chance to prove herself better than the African girl who, in Pixie's mind, couldn't even talk properly. This belief was strange as Marli spoke perfect, if accented, English.
'I'm surprised she can even cast spells properly.' Pixie thought with a sneer as she stood, ready to begin the duel.
Marli stood ready too, waiting as Professor Bennett gave the signal.
"Begin."
Pixie reacted at once. "Rictusempra."
Pixie smirked, expecting Marli to freeze up, hence she was disappointed and angry that Marli effortlessly dodged the spell and countered, firing not one, but two rapid stinging hexes her way and Pixie dodged quickly, only to yelp as the second hit her.
"You…" She hissed.
She tried again, but the duel seemed to continue the same pattern and it left Pixie more and more frustrated. She was supposed to be the one in charge here, she was important, she was better, she was supposed to be putting this little intruder in her place. Instead she was losing the duel, if she was hit one more time, that would be the final point that would guarantee Marli's victory.
"Not happening." She snarled. "Expelliarmus."
Her spell hit and Marli's wand flew out of her hand, Pixie smirked, but then wavered at once as Marli didn't even look worried. She had forgotten at Uagadou, wandless magic was the norm.
Marli simply directed her hand at Marli and spoke. "Locomotor Mortis."
Pixie was so shocked and stunned she was unable to dodge and took her final hit, the leg-locker curse and fell over, the duel was over and after getting over their stunned silence, everybody began cheering, seeing Pixie put in her place. Marli smiled at this victory, graciously accepting her wand back from Professor Flitwick as Pixie could only watch in dismay.
