Harry Potter: The Missing Keys

Chapter 15
So it was, while everyone else was at dinner, Jamie, Jeff, Amara, Carla and Jennifer made their way towards the old office. They were wary as they approached, looking around, trying to find any sign that hinted at trouble. They saw nothing however and so they drew their wands and approached the door. Jeff tried it carefully.
"Locked, like we expected anything less." He remarked.
Carla nodded. "Okay, let me. Alohomora."
The door unlocked and they stepped inside and immediately they all lit up their wands.
"What are we looking for?" Jennifer asked softly.
Jamie shook his head. "Anything that will give us a clue as to what Thaddeus is up to, what he's found, if there's any clues that point to...to what happened last year."
Amara then chimed in. "Yeah, if we can, we should also see if we find any clues leading to where the stolen necklaces are."
"Right." Carla agreed.
Jeff nodded to and Jennifer swallowed nervously but nodded also, they were all ready now and so they began to search around the room, covering as much ground as they could while also not going too far out of sight of each other.
"Just be careful guys." Jeff said at last. "We don't want to get caught off guard like last year."
They all nodded, Amara and Carla knowing exactly what he meant, recalling the moment the three of them had been captured by Ezekiel, tied up and forced to watch as he revealed his plan while Jamie was trapped in the portrait.
They had only been searching for a short while before suddenly Jamie gasped.
"Guys, check this out."
They moved over to check what he'd found and noticed a pile of documents. All of them were talking about the necklaces, or rather the keys as he referred to them as. He also had been taking notes on the five of them too. What they read there disturbed them.
"I will have to be careful, especially of the McIntyre boy, he is too observant for his own good, that might be why Ezekiel decided to use him to test out the portrait cruse. Even though it wasn't part of our plan. Even if he's just a boy, if he's even half the wizard his grandfather is then he'll grown into a formidable opponent. Then there are those he surrounds himself with, The Slytherin boy, a clearly budding duellist with skills beyond what a second year should have, much like the two girls, the Gryffindor and Ravenclaw. They're also a threat, the Ravenclaw would be able to pull apart and figure out any of our plans, while that Gryffindor girl would easily be able to bring the others together and would cause problems if we tried to move. I must speak with the Overlord about this when I return with everything we need...That's the other issue, according to Ezekiel, Howells daughter has betrayed us so we need to find some way to reclaim what was stolen from us. I must get everything we need before I leave and meet the Overlord again, then I will be exalted above all other members, May Herpo guide us."
They all stared in shock at what they had read as it dawned on them, the group Ezekiel mentioned, Thaddeus was part of it too and even knew Ezekiel it seemed.
That was when they heard the muffled yelp and spun around to see Jennifer, bound and gagged in ropes, being yanked out of the door which slammed shut, they rushed over to try and force it open, to no avail, it seemed locked.
"Alohomora!" Carla cried.
But it didn't work.
"As if your pathetic spell work can stop mine. I knew you'd try this and deliberately set a low level lock on the door at first. Now you can't get in my way." Thaddeus' voice sounded through the door, confirming their shock and fear. "Now I just need to take the necklaces and the Howells girl here down to the forest and get ready. You'll see her again, don't worry...provided Dumbledore cooperates with me and hands over the box."
"What do you think you're doing!?" Jamie cried out. "Get back here, Jennifer!"
But Thaddeus had already left, taking Jennifer and the keys with him, but meanwhile, they were trapped here in the office, unable to get out, unable to save Jennifer or warn others. There had to be something they could do.
"Guys, we can't leave this!?" Jamie burst out.
"I know, I know, but we can't get through this door." Carla said desperately.
Amara shook her head. "Urg, no, we can't...the others are counting on us."
Jeff grimaced. "Um, hang on, I might have something. I forgot I had this, here."
With that he revealed he still had something, the marked runestone Professor Bennett had given them to set up a warning to her, he quickly pressed it and it activated, now they just had to hope that Professor Bennett arrived in time.
The wait was tense until finally they heard the welcome voice of their Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor.
"Mr. Winder, are you there?"
"Yes Professor, Jamie, Amara and Carla are with me, we can't unlock the door." Jeff called back. "Thaddeus, he's part of the same group that Ezekiel was part of and he's taken Jennifer."
"What?!" Professor Bennett gasped. "Hold on!"
With that she managed to get the door unlocked and they hurried out.
"What is going on?" She asked at once. "What exactly happened?"
"We were searching for news, we found this." Jamie explained, handing the note from Thaddeus to her.
"Merlin's beard." Professor Bennett gasped. "And he's taken Miss Howells…?"
Amara nodded. "She was taken to force Professor Dumbledore to give him some sort of box...he's taken to the Forbidden Forest...Oh, we need to help her."
"Now hold on...Wait!"
But Professor Bennett's words fell on deaf ears as they all began running, heading for the forest themselves to try and save their captured friend.
