Chapter 7

Undertotem- It's not Stolas, sadly. Its Octavia. In fact, the first episode of season 2 for Helluva Boss didn't air by the time this went up.

Also, Azir hasn't been revived yet. A reason why he hasn't shown up yet.

Now, I'll go excuse myself so I can slightly redo the synopsis of this fic. As I've watched season two and I need to slightly adjust some things I think.

Moxxie

"This is beautiful." Said Moxxie in awe of the lake that Morgana had led them to. It was beautiful. Clear blue water that sparkled in the sunlight. Sitting down near the lakeside, underneath a tree that shaded them from the sun, Moxxie was starring at the lake in awe while Morgana sat next to him while Mordekaiser's soldiers stood near, ready to defend Moxxie with their lives.

"Indeed, it is." Said Morgana as she looked at the lake with a small smile. "It's one of the few areas that I venture to without fear of being discovered by the nearby villages. A few come here to fish, but they rarely ever see me. If they do, they either don't care, assuming I'm just a woman enjoying the lake, or I leave before they could see who I truly am."

"You don't want to be seen by others?" Asked Moxxie as she looked at Morgana as she sat down. "Why? You're so kind and nice." Morgana sighed at this, realizing that she had to answer the question to the small and young child lest he be confused by her behavior around others.

"Because I…fear creating attachments with others, young one." Said Morgana before explaining. "I, unlike those around this area, am immortal. I cannot die from old age or disease. They, however, can. Though a brief time we will become attached to one another, eventually those that I become close to will pass away, leaving me alone to grieve for them. I do not wish to have my heart take such pains. Even more so when I'm in a land like Demacia."

"What do you mean by that?" Asked Moxxie as he looked at Morgana. What was wrong with Demacia?

"Your father must not have told you about the wrongs of Demacia." Said Morgana, spatting out father in disgust. She still held a grudge against Mordekaiser for what he did, even if her opinion of him was raised a little by him allowing Moxxie to visit her. "Demacia despises all forms of magic, even those that they deem magical." She then looked at Moxxie, who widened his eyes in shock. "Even those like you, who, while may not possess magic, are unnatural in their eyes. Thus, they seek to purge people like you."

"B…but why?" Asked Moxxie as he heard all this and he grabbed his tail in anxiety, nervous at hearing all this. "Why would they want to do that? Don't they know that I'm a person too?"

"Some do." Admitted Morgana. "But they just use it as an excuse to kill you. Many Demacians care, even those that know those they slay have the ability to speak or think for themselves, not of you being a person, Moxxie. They'll still slay you for being something they deem unnatural or magical in nature."

"But why?" Asked Moxxie as he looked at Morgana with those beautiful yellow eyes of his, still full of innocence despite what happened yesterday. "Why do that in the first place? What made them like that?"

"Something that occurred a long time ago." Explained Morgana as she sat down in the soft grass beneath them and took Moxxie's head and gently placed it on her lap. Stroking his white hair, she continued. "The attitude of the Demacians came from a cataclysmic event long ago that brought great destruction to this land. The survivors of that event had become scared and terrified of magic for they knew that it was only magic that could have brought such destruction. It made them resentful of magic. Made them despise anything they deem unnatural or magical in the world. It made them what they are now. A people that will exterminate, or at least imprison, all that they deem unnatural or magical with no hesitation. People such as you." Moxxie, upon hearing that, looked in horror at Morgana. Horror at what he had just heard from her. He couldn't imagine a society that held such beliefs. To just exterminate people just because they don't like them for something they can't control or what they deem to be unnatural. It was horrifying to the Imp.

His father, despite his flaws, saw everything and everyone in his kingdom as useful and did not judge them for what they are and what they lack. Even the weak held a place in his realm. He cares about one thing and one thing only. Them serving him and are serving him loyally. He had taught Moxxie that all had their worth. Some more than others, admittedly, but all had their worth. Some were more obvious than others and others needed help to increase their worth or bring it out. Its why, he told the Imp, he helped him grow and invest much time in him. His worth was still in its infancy and, as a result, is yet to be revealed.

This Demacia. This group of humans. They kill or imprison people, not caring about if they were worth to them or not, without hesitation. They refuse to let people grow or become productive members of their society just because they have something they hate or resent. It…sickened Moxxie. Made him feel something he never felt before. Anger? Rage? A sense of justice? Or a combination of the three? He didn't know and he wasn't sure if he wanted to know.

Seeing the discomforted look on Moxxie's face, Morgana adopted a sympathetic look on Moxxie and spoke.

"The look on your face shows me that your sense of justice is strong, young one." Said Morgana, causing Moxxie to stop and look at Morgana. "Do not ever lose that. It's what keeps you from becoming like those monsters that attack you yesterday. It'll keep you from becoming like your father as well."

"What do you mean by that?" Asked Moxxie as he looked at Morgana. "What do you mean like my father? What did he do?"

"*Sighs* I should have expected for him not to reveal his darker history to you." Said Morgana, in slight anger. Although, given Moxxie's youthful appearance, it's possible he didn't tell him because he was just too young to know. In which case, she'll be lenient on Mordekaiser for upholding his darker history to the child. "Has your father told anything about himself? Anything about your mother and yourself? How you came to be?"

"He's actually told me a lot about my mother." Said Moxxie, causing Morgana to blink in surprise. "He told me that she came from another afterlife entirely different from his." Morgana blinked in shock and disbelief at that. Surprised that Mordekaiser would give such extensive knowledge to the child and disbelief that he came from an alternative afterlife.

"I see." Said Morgana after she recovered from this revelation. "And your mother. What became of her?"

"She died giving birth to me." Said Moxxie sadly, recalling the first time that Mordekaiser told him about the woman that birthed him. He remembered crying that she died giving birth to him along with Mordekaiser scorning him for it. He said that he should not cry over the woman. He told him that she had died giving birth to him and that it was his duty to honor her legacy. To make her death not be in vain. "Dad adopted me shortly after and I've been his son ever since. He told me that I should honor her sacrifice and that I must move on from her death." Silent at hearing that, Morgana had no idea what to say.

Her mind processing this, Morgana wondered what kind of man Mordekaiser was. He was, according to the stories and her initial thoughts of him, a ruthless tyrant that almost took over all of Valoran and likely all of Runeterra if he wasn't stopped yet he adopted a child from a dead woman and raised him as his own. He honored his word to his son to leave her alone when he left them alone and then he allowed him to make friends with her. A woman that talked back to him and criticize him. Something most tyrants would kill anyone that dared to do so yet he allowed her to live simply because his son requested it. She had no idea what to say about this man or even think about him.

Deciding that she must talk with him herself in person to see what kind of person he was, Morgana allowed herself to speak to Moxxie regarding what she knew about his father.

"I see he's more of a father than I initially gave him credit for." Said Morgana. "Although it isn't much, he's a better father than some I've met from Demacia. That being said, has he told you about himself? Who he was before he died and what he did do in his life?" When Moxxie shook his head, Morgana sighed. "Then perhaps you'd best get comfortable as there is some truth to what I'm about to say to you." When she saw Moxxie shift his position on her lap to get more comfortable, she helped him do so. Once she was certain that he was comfortable, she told him everything that she knew about Mordekaiser. Who he was and what he did.

Mordekaiser

As Morgana told Moxxie what knowledge there was left regarding Mordekaiser and his acts on Runeterra, the Iron Revenant was watching. Through the minds of the warriors sent to guard Moxxie and keep an eye on Morgana, he saw what the winged woman was telling Moxxie. Of his actions long ago. Back when he was among the living and when he first returned to Runeterra was a revenant. Though some of what she said was factually wrong or possessed only fragments of what really happened, he cannot but chuckle at her words for they were true in the broadest of terms. He had nearly conquered all of Valoran and would have conquered the entire world had it not been through the treacherous act of those in his inner circle. One in particular.

Chuckling again as he saw his son's reaction to her story, Mordekaiser decided that it was time to show Moxxie what he intended for the people of Runeterra and the people from his mother's home afterlife. To show how his rule was better for the ignorant masses and not whatever they had for rulers.

Barking orders to his nearest subordinates, Mordekaiser resumed his watch of Moxxie and Morgana, sitting on his throne while Morgana told his son of a heavily flawed version of his rulership when he first became Mordekaiser.
