CAPTAIN CARROT AND HIS AMAZING ZOO CREW: 80-Page Super Special
Based on characters created by Roy Thomas and Scott Shaw!
FOREWORD:
Greetings, True Believers: this is Jack Collins, Co-Writer of Rejuiced, here to explain the context of this silly superhero team and how these awesome avenging animals came to be. To make a long story short, Captain Carrot and his Amazing Zoo Crew came about after a failed "Just'a Lotta Animals" [basically "What if the Justice League of America were all talking animals?"] pitch by Roy Thomas and Scott Shaw!.
The heads at DC suggested that they come up with new characters for a new potential cartoon series (which almost got made, but has not yet happened at the time I write this—dagnabbit!) and thus, the Zoo Crew were born, consisting of Captain Carrot, Rubberduck, Alley-Kat-Abra, Yankee Poodle, Pig-Iron, Fastback, and later additions Little Cheese and American Eagle as they battled such fiendish foes as Dr Hoot, Frogzilla, The Time Keeper, and Cold Turkey.
The original series, plus The Oz-Wonderland War, and Final Ark trilogy lasted for a total of 26 issues before it was canned altogether by DC. However, Scott Shaw had many plans for the characters' adventures after Final Ark. What were those plans? Well I don't want to spoil anything which is why YOU'RE going to find out, True Believers.
But first, some awesome tails to get you all acquainted with the Zoo Crew!
These plans are based on ideas that Scott Shaw had concocted to resolve the cliffhanger at the end of the arc, before DC screwed him and his team over. I'm still steamed about that, but then again...this is what fanfiction is for.
