Hey everybody, today's challenge was to write in my favorite author's style, I don't exactly have a "favorite author". All my favorite books revolve around medieval times, assassins, and romance so I decided to mash it up with mha. I have no idea why I picked gender bent Deku x Shiggy. Here goes nothing, happy readings.
Tomura crept through the castle halls, it was easier than he had expected to get in the castle, sneaking through the shadows was a talent he had been taught since the age of eight. His footsteps couldn't be heard even as he pelted through the empty halls, occasionally a few guards would pass by so he'd press himself against the cold, stone walls and wait until they passed by. This castle was so magnificent and grandeur, even in the moonlight he could see beautiful paintings, sparkling golden imprints on the gray stone wall. It wasn't like his castle back home, his Kingdom wasn't built to have alliances and wealth, his kingdom was built for power and fear, as it was. Pyrefall was the most feared Kingdom of all the lands, he was feared throughout the lands too, except no one knew how he or his master looked like. A deadly secret that they'd like to keep.
Even so, it was easy to sneak into the castle by throwing a rock and making a diversion for him to slip through the door. Darkness was his friend, unlike most people, while others fell in darkness he grew, that's why assassinations quests, like this one, were no challenge for him. Navigating his way through the castle wasn't difficult, even with only the moonlight slipping through some of the curtains or uncovered windows to guide him around this unknown territory. Walking up the steps quickly he noticed that there weren't many patrols of guards, the other kingdoms had guards in nearly every corner.
So stupid, especially after they lost their king five years ago, King Hisashi had been slain by an assassin. The identity of the assassin remained unknown, Tomura personally hoped to meet him one day, for nineteen years old, he was already renowned as a prodigy among mercenaries, assassins, thieves and so on. But to kill a King and never have anyone know who you are, that's legendary. Kinda like what's about to happen tonight. His mind mused, his target was someone of upmost importance, Izumi Midoriya, Princess of Floria, and heir to the largest kingdom.
He didn't know why he had to kill her, but his master gave him an order and he always followed through. It's what he owed him after he had found him eleven years ago, barely alive shivering in the woods of Pyrefall in a harsh winter. Orphaned, half naked, and left for dead, All For One had pity on him and trained him to be his most deadliest and devoted solider. He also made him the heir to his throne, the pang in his chest that always flared when he thought about that made him pause in his tracks.
He grumbled as he came to a hallway that went two ways, which way was her chambers? For what he read and heard about her, she has never been out of her castle she was nearly sixteen and she hadn't stepped out into the word. He felt a pang of pity for her, never to have fresh wind blew through your nostrils and hair, fresh, soft grass rub against your feet, swimming in the Sapphire river, she was wasting in this castle. Deciding to go to the right, he stiffened when he heard footsteps, getting behind a vase he held still as two guards walked by, rather frantic.
"She's not in her room, again," the first solider said, his voice was low.
"When did the maid realize?" The second soilder asked, her question making the first soilder huff.
"About five minutes ago."
"We all know she's in the garden or the library," she reasoned, her tone becoming softer as she added. "The princess is getting more restless each year."
He waited for them to turn around the corner before he got up, of course she was getting restless, who wouldn't? She's never going to see the world, he angrily pushed away the feelings of sympathy and pity that crept on him. He didn't understand how these emotions sometimes crept up on him, he had murdered countless of times, he had been abused, he had watched his family get massacred. Shaking his head to clear his thoughts he followed the soldiers, figuring they were going there, he made sure to stay a far distance behind them. It wasn't his fault she never saw the world, it was her parents fault; if her mother was so worried about her safety why was it so damn easy to get in here?
When the soldiers stopped at a glass door with vines and flowers encrypted into it, he snuck up on them and knocked them out with the back of his sword. Catching them both before they made a loud thud, he dragged them to the other side of the hallway, cutting the man's arm he left a trail of blood along the other way, in case someone were to find them. This was too easy, heading back to the door he opened it, taking a deep breath he stepped in.
To his surprise, the garden had no roof, stars twinkled in the midnight dark sky, swirling around the sky, like a paint brush painted them. The quiet cricketing of insects was the only noise in the still night, the garden was pretty big. Walking along the trail he looked at all the flowers that declared the path, and owl hooted at him and flew away as he walked past a tree. Where was this princess? He stopped as he heard rustling farther ahead, putting his hand on his sword he crested forward, keeping to the bushes.
It had turned out it had been a bunny, he had killed it in frustration, after an hour he had looked everywhere in that garden she was not there. If he didn't want to kill her before, now he does stupid girl made him waste his time, he had bats fly in his face, mosquitos had bitten his arms, and a stupid fox tried attacking him. He shook his head to clear his heads, where the hell was this princess? Why can't she just be in her bedroom like a normal damn princess? He ignored the memories that flowed through him of all the times he had been anywhere but his room at night, the best rides he's ever had were when he had sneaked out his castle and rode to his hearts content, despite his punishment afterwards.
Walking by a door he froze when he heard a quiet yell and a thud followed by more quiet ones, FINALLY. He didn't think he's ever spent this much time looking for his victim, glancing around he opened the door and closed it quietly. Looking around his realized he was in a library, he fought the joy he felt at seeing all the books, reading was one of his favorite things to do the vast pages of mysteries, adventures, and occasionally romance made him forget about all the horrors he's lived through. Books where his getaway from this hellish world, he could forget about his ambusement, the amount of blood that spilled on his hands, through them even if it was for a moment.
You're here to kill this freaking princess, and that's what I'm going to do. Maybe he'd steal a book or two on the way out, not like anyone's going to notice, they are going to notice their dead princess, especially if they already saw the knocked out soldiers, which they probably did, so he had to do this fast. Walking towards the shuffling he leaned against the shelf as he saw the princess standing above a pile of books on floor, the rumors of her beauty being breathtaking were true. He had never been one to fall for looks, yet there was something about her being in the moonlight, that filtered in through the window, in her purple silk nightgown made him watch her tentatively. The moonlight lit up her curly, mossy hair giving it a nice glow, her skin glowed as well in light as she hurried picked up some of the books.
Her face was half lit by the moonlight, displaying freckled cheeks, a perfect upturned nose, and beautiful green eyes that matched her hair. Picking up the books she took them to the window, sitting on the windowsill she stared out the window longingly her eyes seeming to search for something in the night sky. He moved closer to her, until he was a few footsteps away, not sensing him she picked up one of the books flipping through them she sighed.
"I wish my life was as interesting as these books." Her sweet voice flowed through his ears, hearing her quiet complaint made him grimace. WHO was he to care? The memories of him being beaten in his own castle flashed through his mind, his screams had filled the halls, his blood had been splattered in the walls, staining the dungeon, if only someone had bothered to care. He backed away as his emotions threatened to overtake him, right now was not the time for his trauma attacks.
Growling at himself, he fiercely shook his head fighting the urge to scratch his neck, something he did whenever he remembered about his past. Taking his sword out, he took long, deep breaths his mission was what mattered right now. Steading his footing, he lunged at the green eyed princess, who had her nose too buried in a book to see him coming. She suddenly slips out the window, shrieking as she flails her arms in attempt to grab the wall, before he thinks he jumps out the window after her, grabbing her he sticks his sword into the wall.
She grabs on his collar tightly, almost choking him, streaming down tears as she wraps her legs around his waist, he stiffens at having her on him, he's never been this close to any woman. He groans in silence as he feels her soft body press against him, making him hold his breath for a moment.
"Please," her voice chokes breathlessly, as she clings to him burying her face into him, making him lose his breath again. "Don't let go."
Her words ignite some fire in him, looking down at the shuddering, tear eyed girl he grits his teeth, lowering his hand to his belt where his daggers are.
"I won't," He makes his voice firm, he's climbed mountains before this wouldn't be problem, the problem was he has to kill her, not help her, even if she desperately asked him for help, her shivering body made his insides feel weird. Her legs wrapping around his waist made his clothes feel tight, he couldn't think straight with her sweet, feminine scent flowing through his body.
Shaking his head he cleared those thought from his mind, if he let her fall to her death he couldn't have the credit of doing it. It may be a stupid reason, but it was what he told himself as he started using his daggers to climb up the wall with her. She was silent the whole time, once he got back to the window he sighed, looking down he decided to get his sword after. Arms wrapped around him as she pulled him in for an embrace, his natural reaction was to push her away, forcing himself he stayed still.
Pulling away she grabbed his hands, her tear streaked face lighting up. "Thank you for saving me, if it weren't for you I'd be dead." He nearly let out a bitter laugh at the irony of this, she was upoosed to be dead because of him. "You're really strong."
He made sure his expression was neutral as she looked over his face and body, her eyes slowly became more curious the more she looked at him.
"You don't look like one of the guards. How did you find me?" Even though her questions seemed suspicious, her eyes were still friendly as she waited for him to answer.
Crap, what was he supposed to say, looking at the dagger in his hand he gripped it tighter, he should just end this stupid game. Lifting it up he inwardly cursed as the door burst open as soldiers came running in yelling.
"Princess! Are you okay?"
"We heard your yelling, what happened?"
As she turned to their voices, he jumped out the window grabbing his sword he grabbed his dagger and climbed up to the roof quickly as he heard her exclaim of surprise.
"Your Majesty, what's wrong?" A female soilder asked her.
"I just got wrapped up in my books again." She lied.
"Your Majesty, the doctor said that it isn't healthy for you to get so wrapped up into your books." Tomura thought that over, understanding her all too well. For her the books made her escape this cage of a castle, in a way this castle was her jail.
"I know, I'm sorry. I'll head to bed now." He heard shuffling, he imagined her picking up her books with a regretful expression putting them back.
"We'll put the books away, go to your chambers, Princess."
He looked around the castle, surely she had a balcony if he's learned anything about sappy romance fairytales is that princess's always had balconies. Scaling the castle, he saw there was two each on opposite sides, one for her and the other for the Queen, he wondered why All For One didn't want to kill the Queen instead. She'd be more critical than Izumi, jumping down on the balcony that had a small table with a book on it, and painting stand. Looking at the painting he had to admit it was pretty, it was the continent of Syria with all the kingdoms labeled and done it great detail. Looking at Pyrefall he was surprised she didn't add skulls or other death signs that usually other maps or drawings added.
Hearing her door open and close he waited for a bit, making sure she was alone when he went to open the door the door opened as she collided with him. Catching his footing he pulled away from her, her brows raised in surprise as she looked at him like if she was making sure he was actually here.
"You- how did you get here?" She didn't even seem worried that he was on her balcony, curiosity is going to kill this girl if he doesn't do it first. Her gorgeous green eyes sparkled as they met his gaze.
He knew he shouldn't yet his mouth moved before he could think. "Wanna find out?"
The grin that spread through her face was too big for her petite face, her smile faltered after a moment. "I wish I could, but I can't."
She didn't say it, though he knew she was talking about her restrictions he was walking along a tightrope, getting the princess out of the castle instead of just killing her? What would All For One say?
He doesn't have to know, a small part of him says, he was miles away from Pyrefall, All For One always trusted him to go on his own. I can do what I want every once in a while, he wasn't just his mindless puppet. He had his own life too. She was intriguing, her deathly curiosity to her fascination with books. One night, he decided I'll give us both freedom for one night, then I'll kill her tomorrow. It was simple enough, he didn't understand why he felt like he had to give her this chance. The only thing he kept thinking was that she was like him, lonely, neglected, leashed.
The hopeful face she was giving him made him make up his mind. "No one has to know, it can be our secret. Just for tonight." He reasoned, his voice low even if no one else was around to hear.
Finally, I decent lengthly story. I had an idea thought out for this one so it was much easier to write this, I really enjoyed this, maybe I'd write the second part someday. Either way, I hope you guys enjoyed. Cya next time. God bless 💞
