Bumblebee moved a branch from his view, he sighed to himself walking behind his charge. If he could drive him to Mistralton City all this walking wouldn't be a problem but as he was told before, it's for the sake of the adventure and learning experience. Spike wasn't this much of a handful when he was younger, maybe because he was in his mid-teen years and Jon is an eleven-year-old child with organics that have supernatural powers.

"There it is!"

Bumblebee snapped out of his line of thought. There was a bridge between them and the cave entrance.

"That's Chargestone cave?"

"Yup!"

They cross over the small bridge and to the entrance of the cave. Bumblebee checked the size of the cave to measure if he was small enough to fit, in his case, he was. Taking his first step in, his surroundings gradually became dark and then filled up with a luminescing blue hue. The light coming off floating rocks.

"Whoa," Jon breathed.

"Whoa indeed," said Bee, walking towards a floating rock. "There must be electromagnetic properties here."

"What?"

Bee turns around to Jon, "in simpler terms: relating to or caused by magnetism that is produced by electricity."

A small static sound flicks off from the blue glowing rock.

Bumblebee stared at Jon for a moment, "you don't understand what I'm saying, do you?"

"A bit," said Jon sheepishly.

Bee gave a small smile, "don't worry too much about it." He then walks back to the kid, "you have a map to navigate the cave, right?"

"Kind of."

"What do you mean 'kind of'?"

"Well, according to the guide on the map, as long as we follow the path, we should be fine."

"There's no proper layout of the cave, is there?"

"Nope."

"Alright then, let's get out of here before sundown."

Keeping on the path they went through different trials, pushing smaller floating rocks out of their way. Whenever they push the smaller floating rock, it flies back in the direction where a bigger floating rock is at. They also came across different pokemon, some of whom were curious about Bumblebee.

"There's a lot of electric-type pokemon here," Jon said, as the duo passed by a family of Joltic.

"How can you tell a pokemon's typing by just looking at them?"

"I learned it in school. Oh yeah, you need a Pokedex!" Jon slapped his hands together. "That way it would be easy for you to identify a pokemon!"

"That would definitely make things a lot easier," Bee chuckled. Bumblebee's smile fades away when he starts hearing strange noises further down the path — across the bridge. This forced Jon to stop in his tracks to figure out what the Autobot stopped for. Listing closely, Jon began to hear drilling sounds.

"Maybe it's some wild pokemon?"

Bee slowly starts moving forward, "stay behind me."

Doing as he's told, Jon walks behind the Cybertronian. The closer they got to the bridge, the louder the drilling sounds became. Jon tried to get a clear picture of Bumblebee's expression but to his luck, nothing. It was just blank as if he was waiting for a predator to attack him.

"Bee–"

"Shhh"

The duo got to the bridge, yet no sight of where the drilling sounds were coming from. Moving forward once more carefully making their way across the long open bridge. Jon looks down beneath him, regretting doing so. The young trainer walked a little faster to catch up with his guardian. Eventually, they stopped in the middle of the bridge.

"What happened–" Jon's eyes widened when he saw humans and pokemon picking at the rocks as if they were mining for something. The humans looked somewhat familiar to Jon, those neo-plasma wannabes.

Bumblebee, however, saw something else. The humans and pokemon acted zombified as though something or someone was controlling them; their eyes were lifeless. That was when horror struck him.

"Jon, we gotta get out of here–"

"Bumblebee, how nice of you to join us and you brought your new pet with you."

"Scrap! Jon, run!"

Before Jon had the chance to start running in the opposite direction another set of humans and pokemon showed up. Scared for his life, his most powerful pokemon pops out of their Pokeball. Jon stood between his Gardevoir and Bumblebee.

"Bumblebee, what now? We are surrounded!"

Bumblebee looked all around him, trying to find an open area where they could escape. With no luck, he looked face to face with his enemy. "Bombshell, what are you doing here?!"

"Same as you, no?"

"What?"

The metallic insect snarled, "Energon, I'm here for Energon!"

"That's impossible! This planet has none!"

"We'll see about that." With a snap of his digits, the humans and pokemon attack from all angles.

Just before the pokemon's moves completely hit them Gardevoir used their telekinesis to form a force field around them. The moves collided with the force field creating an explosion, forcing Jon to cover his ears. As the smoke of dust faded away Bumblebee took this opportunity to shoot at Bombshell, making the Cybertronian insect fall to the ground.

"We need to get off this bridge!" Bee shouted. The Autobot looked down at his charge; Jon's body was trembling from the experience. 'Scrap', he thought to himself. He hasn't seen Jon react in this manner before. He was far more frightening than when he first encountered Decepticons.

Jon lets go of his ears, he breathes heavily trying to wrap his head around the fact of what just happened. The shield that was covering the duo has now vanished making the neo-plasma wannabes ready to attack again. 'What do I do?' he thought to himself. It shouldn't be any different from the battles he faced before, but in the last battle he faced, there were four Autobots. It was just him and Bee this time.

Bombshell stood up and looked at Bumblebee, he was pissed. A roar escapes his voice, charging at the young scout and throwing him over the bridge.

"Bumblebee!" Jon cried.

Bumblebee's body smashes into the ground whilst Bombshell stood on top of him.

"Your pet's pet has a strong organic with him. I hope you won't mind me taking them," said Bombshell, holding a micro-bug in his hand.

Bee's optics widened in fear, he knew exactly what it would do to his human and pokemon friend," NO!"

Up on the bridge, Jon's Gardevoir does everything he can to protect his trainer. Jon, on the other hand, watches as Bumblebee struggles with Bombshell. Though this action stops when more moves keep crashing towards them. He wondered what his sister would do… he wondered what Mewtwo would do…

A flash of a memory came to him.

"Why do you wish to become a trainer?" a soft voice asked.

"I want to battle strong trainers!"

"Is that all?"

Jon looked surprised by Mewtwo's reply. "I– umm… I don't know yet."

Mewtwo repeated her question, "why do you wish to become a trainer? To just battle strong trainers, or is there something more to it?"

Jon looked at his pokemon friend, fighting hard as he could. Jon's eyes shine as a weak smile grows on his face, "It's become my friends and family are always protecting me," —he speaks a little louder— "now it's my turn to protect them!"

Gardevoir turned his head, feeling the strong emotions, just like his former trainer when they were younger. Jon raised his voice, "Elfen, used Calm Mind then Psychic!"

The pokemon did as he was told, a moonlight glowed around him before his eyes shined pastel pink. Lifting up the humans and pokemon and throwing them across the ground, doing the same action on the other side of the bridge. Jon quickly tries to come up with a strategy, from the way Bumblebee reacted and how Bombshell snap his fingers making the neo-plasma wannabes and pokemon attack them, he believes something must be wrong with their minds.

"Hope this works, Apple, come on out and use Thunderwave!" Jon threw the Pokeball into the air as a flash of white light escaped it. Lopunny emerges from it and looks in the direction Jon was pointing to; the same area Bombshell was at. With a cry from Lopunny, static waves flash from her body and to the humans and pokemon, only for Jon and his pokemon to watch in horror as to what happened next.

Under the bridge, Bumblebee was doing everything in his power to keep Bombshell away from his charge. He grabs onto the mechs alt mode, using his body weight to spin him around then throwing Bombshell into a nearby floating rock, shocking him.

"Had enough Insecticon?!"

When Bombshell was done being fried like a McNugget, he carefully picked himself up, blue static still coming off him.

"Bumblebee!"

Bee jumped and craned his neck to have a view of what was happening to Jon. Bumblebee quickly looks back at Bombshell, still hurting from the shock. Without wasting time, Bumblebee climb the rocks. Once he finally made it to the top of the side where Jon is at, he frowned.

The humans and pokemon lay there on the ground, not moving. "Jon…" Bee looks over at him. His body trembled and he looked like he was on the verge of tears. All of a sudden Bombshell flew from beneath the bridge, barreling into Bumblebee once more and crushing the humans underneath them.

"Disgusting," Bombshell said, wiping off the red liquid. The Insecticon gave a final smirk before leaving the petrified human and Autobot alone.

"Jon, are you… alright?"

"I– Bee," Jon's eyes grew watery.

Elfen and Apple hug their human friend.

"Hey Jon breathe, I know it looks bad–"

"Bumblebee, they are dead! How can, what did that–- that–"

"Insecticon. He used cerebro-shells, a way he minds control his victims. I'm sorry you had to witness that."

"Is… is this what your war is like? Is this why Optimus said we needed guardians? Because of guys like them?"

"Yes."

Jon took a moment to calm himself down before Bumblebee starts talking again.

"It's not too late to turn back."

"N– no, we got to find out why…Bombshell had them mining in the first place. Also, we have to bury them.

Bumblebee gave a soft nod.

After finishing burying all the bodies, humans and pokemon alike, they went back to the spot where they were mining at. Jon was still upset by the experience even after calming down.

"How are you feeling?"

"Like I want to throw up, I just– I don't know. And here I thought dealing with mercenaries was bad enough. Also, he called me and my pokemon pets!"

"Are your pokemon not pets?"

"No! They are my friends… my family."

"And you're my charge, my friend. Don't make the 'con's words get to you, okay?"

"Okay."

Bumblebee crouches down, scanning the mining area. What if… no, don't get your hopes up.

"Hey Bee, what's that?" asked Jon, standing over the edge.

"Jon, be careful." Bumblebee walked over to Jon and his pokemon. Below them, blue crystals sparkled. Bee stared in shock for a moment before coming back to his senses. "Stay here."

Bumblebee slides down the same rocks he climbed. He reached the ground, walking towards the area he crashed into when fighting Bombshell. "No way."

"Bee, what is it?!" Jon yelled from the top.

Bumblebee yelled gleefully, "It's Energon! A cavern full of it!"

"Really? Can I see?"

"Yeah, lemme come get you." Too bad for Bumblebee, Jon recalled his Lopunny and flew on Corviknights back.

"Or not"

Elfen helped Jon off the raven pokemon before he recalled it. Jon and Elfen looked in the direction Bee was in. They both wow in awe, the cavern sparkled with raw Energon, something they have never seen before.

"Is it safe?"

"As long as you don't touch it."

"Shouldn't you tell the others?"

"Don't worry, I'm on it."

Unbenounced to them, Bombshell stood quietly at the top, observing the trio and their new discovery.
