Chapter Six

AN: the ending AN will always have all the things I need to say so, enjoy the chapter!

"How's Sasuke?" Kakashi asked the nurse.

"He's not too good, he used up almost all of his chakra. His eyes aren't doing any better, and most of his muscles are either torn or bruised. He also has a few broken bones" Her voice was serious and sympathetic, she already felt bad for the boy. After finishing her report she faced Kakashi. "He'll need at least a week of rest and medical care." With that final statement, she walked out of the room.

Kakashi looked down at Sasuke worry evident in his one visible eye. Just then Kakashi thought back to the conversation he had with lord third

One hour ago

"What did Orochimaru say to you?" Hiruzen's voice left room for error.

"Sasuke is who he's after and he will get Sasuke." Kakashi's voicemail was clear of any mistakes. "There is one thing that he said which I found odd."

Hiruzen gestured for Kakashi to continue.

"It was about Menma."

That sentence made Hiruzen go stiff. He knew that Kakashi was bound to ask about Menma's past, but that didn't mean he wanted to hell him.

"Lord Third is Menma a traitor," Kakashi stated bluntly.

"No, she is not" Hiruzen quickly snapped back

"Then how does she know about Orochimaru, and what is her relationship with him."

Hiruzen sighed the truth was bound to come out. "As you know Menma's an orphan with no other living relatives besides Naruto."

"Yes I already knew but what does this have to do with Orochimaru?" Kakashi just wanted to know the truth. What was Menma and the third hiding from him?

"Kakashi let me finish" Hiruzen sighed then continued speaking.

"Before Menma came to the village she had several incidents with Orochimaru. From what Menma told me Orochimaru had 'taken her in and cared for her like a daughter.'"

Kakashi stared at Hiruzen his one visitable eye widening. "Orochimaru took care of her?" It was more of a statement but he still needed to know if what he heard was correct.

"Yes," Hiruzen lowered his head.

"Why didn't you tell me this earlier," Kakashi said a little pissed.

"Menma requested that no body know about her past."

There were so many emotions going through Kakashi's head, and he just didn't know which one to feel. Should he be angry at Menma for hiding the truth from him for so long. Or should he try to comfort Menma and try to help her with..

Him

"Thank you for telling me all of this, I will take my leave now." Kakashi walked to the door but right as he was about to leave He heard Hiruzen say.

"Don't tell Menma about any of this. I don't want her to hate me more than she already does."

Kakashi turned back to look at Hiruzen his eye crinkling into a curve. "I wasn't planning on it."

Kakashi left the room and then headed straight to the hospital, a million questions got through his head.

'How did they meet, what does Orochimaru want with Menma, why did he take care of her, and most importantly what is the true relationship between them.' Kakashi couldn't stop thinking about what the Hokage told him.

Once Kakashi made it to the hospital he went to Menma's room.

He stared down at Menma he had so many questions to ask her, but she couldn't answer any of them. Not with the state she was in.

The nurse had told him that Menma had received a concussion and that she would be out for at least two or more days.

"Menma I need answers."

When Menma opened her eyes she saw a white calling and her teacher staring at her.

"What happened?" Her voice was quiet but still had that hint of confidence.

"You got a concussion while fighting in the preliminary round."

"Oh," then Menma remembered the whole fight and how she lost. "I fucking lost."

"Yes you did, but that's not the reason I'm here," Kakashi said with his famous eye smile.

"Then why are you here, you're not gonna make fun of me for losing right?" Menma asked her voice filled with curiosity and worry.

"No, it's not that, I just wanna know. Do you know the snake saying Orochimaru?" It sounded like a question but Menma could see that it was a statement, not a question.

"Umm. I know about him through the bingo book, and in textbooks about the second great ninja war. But that's all.." Menma knew she pulling this straight out of her ass, but she couldn't let Kakashi find out about her past. It would ruin everything she's done.

"Ok then" Kakashi stood up. I'm going to be training Sasuke for the rest of the month. Make sure to not push yourself, and the nurse said you'll be discharged tomorrow afternoon." Then Kakashi left the room leaving Menma alone to deal with the fact that her teacher could know about her biggest secret.

Menma slumped down into the bed rubbing the back of her head. "I can't let him know, I can't.. If he finds out that Orochimaru took care of me I'll be finished." Menma sighed heavily, just then she remembered the dream she had. "I feel like I should remember what that dream was about, but I don't." Menma got up from the bed and then walked to the door. "I'm just gonna go to ichiraku."

While walking to ichiraku Menma saw Naruto.

"Hey, Naruto!" Menma shouted at him hoping that he would hear her.

"Menma!" Naruto ran over and hugged Menma. "I'm so happy that you're ok, I was going to visit but I had to go and train. You're not mad at me right?" Naruto said looking up at Menma a bit of worry in his eyes.

"It's ok Naruto I'm not mad at you." Menma said with a smile "But I'm going to ichiraku sooo.. you're paying." Menma stated with a big grin.

"Ok fine," Naruto said a little worried about his wallet, but if it'll make Menma less mad at him about leaving her alone in the hospital then he'll do it.
