Chapter 3: Who is Lelouch Vi Britannia?
What do you think the Joe's lives would be like if they lived in the Code Geass universe, also for possible future fights which Joe would you say is the closest counterpart to each Knight of the Round any G.I. Joe it doesn't have to be the ones I picked to be in the Code Geass universe.
Lelouch and Duke both have their guns pointed at Clovis.
"I'm overjoyed Lelouch." Said Clovis. "They said you died when Japan was brought into the fold."
Duke scowled at that statement, they didn't have any right to conquer Japan or any other country.
Colvis continues: "What a blessing to have you back. We should depart for the homeland immediately."
"So you can use me as a tool for diplomacy." Said Lelouch. "It seems you forgotten why were used as tools in the first place."
When Lelouch says this Clovis' widens his eyes.
"That's right, it was because my mother was killed." Hearing Lelouch's words cause Duke to wonder what happened to his mother, all he knows it that she died but starts to think there is more to it. "Mother held the title of Knight of Honour but was a commoner by birth. No doubt the other imperial consorts held her in contempt. Even though they tried to make it look like the work of terrorist I know full well you people killed my mother."
'So, it was a political assassination, I hope Lelouch did not see the result, that would have been traumatizing for a kid to see.' Thought Duke.
This when Clovis started panicking. "It wasn't me I swear to you it wasn't me."
Duke grabs him by the collar and keeps his restrained so Lelouch can use his power.
"The truth shall no longer be hidden from be, by whose hand was she slain?" asked Lelouch with his power.
Clovis just looks like some kind of robot which unnerves Duke as he has seen mind control enough times being used by Cobra.
"My brother Schneizel and sister Cornelia. They can tell you." Answered Clovis.
"They were at the heart of this?" asked Lelouch but he didn't get an answer.
"Guess your power can't reveal information the person doesn't already know, still its useful for interrogation." Said Duke.
Lelouch realizes Clovis from his power who starts begging: "It wasn't me, I had nothing to do with it."
'He really does remind me of Cobra Commander when he is faced with an actual challenge.' Thought Duke as while Cobra Commander is pure evil he is ultimately a coward who only fights when he has to or thinks he can win.
"I believe you." Said Lelouch causing Clovis to sigh in relieve. "However." Lelouch aims his gun back at Clovis head.
"Please don't, we may have different mothers, but you and I are still blood."
When Lelouch was about to pull the trigger Duke stops him.
"I know you want to kill him and your right he is a scumbag that no one would miss if we kill him, but still I refuse to take part in an execution." Said Duke.
"Duke are you insane, every death in Shinjuku is his fault, and he's seen our faces if that gets out we'll be the most wanted men in Japan."
"Your right, which is why we will take him as a prisoner of war." Said Duke.
While they are arguing Clovis managed to sneak away and grabs a gun and runs in firing at them but luckily Duke was able to push them away but Lelouch still got shot in the shoulder.
"I'm sorry Lelouch, but don't worry, we'll bring you back to the homeland, and if Nunally is alive we'll bring her back as well, we'll be a family again." Clovis then looks at Duke who is in front of Lelouch protecting him. "You will be arrested and executed for treason against the crown." This causes Duke to laugh. "What are you laughing about?"
Duke gets up with his stolen gun ready for a fight. "To commit treason requires I was ever loyal to Britannia to begin with and I'm not Britannian, I'm American."
'American, why does that name sound familiar?' thought Lelouch as he loses consciousness.
Clovis and Duke both ready their guns but Clovis misses and Duke shoots him in the chest and head this is only to protect Lelouch and out of self-defence not an execution.
Later at the warehouse the Joe's are in…
Lelouch wakes up to see Lifeline. "Hey are you okay."
Lelouch tries to get up but places his hand in his shoulder still feeling the pain from the shoot from Clovis.
"Hey take it easy, it will take awhile for the pain to reside." Said Lifeline. "I'm Lifeline."
"What happened I remember trying to…" Lelouch stops because he doesn't want to risk revealing he was trying to assassinate Clovis.
"Don't worry Lelouch we know." Said Duke who walked in.
"Duke who is this man and what happened to Clovis?" asked Lelouch.
"This is my teammate Lifeline. And when Clovis threatened you and someone named Nunnally and tried to kill us I shot him." Explained Duke.
Once again Lelouch is surprised that Duke is so selfless, he wanted to help the terrorist just because they needed help and was willing to fight Britannia to protect the Japanese and saved a woman who would have fallen to her doom and killed Clovis to protect him and his sister but not as an execution.
"I think it's time you explain who you are and what is American." Said Lelouch.
Duke nods in agreement. "All right he's awake you can all come back in." and the side door opened revealing the rest of the Joe's.
"So your that guy giving those commands." Said Tunnel Rat. "I thought you'd be taller."
"Tunnel Rat be nice he's a great strategist and really helped us out." Said Quick Kick. "I'm Quick Kick." Reaching his hand out and Lelouch shook it.
"Duke, Lifeline, Tunnel Rat and Quick Kick?" said Lelouch. "What is with the weird names?"
"Before explain things I need to know this, you're a smart kid so have you ever heard of the multiverse theory?" asked Duke. "Also the rest of us our Lady Jaye, Mainframe, Roadblock, Jinx, Sergeant Slaughter and Snake-Eyes, Snake-Eyes can't talk."
"It is a theory that states there are multiple different realities for each different choice or event. Like one where I didn't have breakfast in the morning or one where Japan is the biggest superpower of the world instead of Britannia." Said Lelouch.
That is when Mainframe pitched in. "Correct now what about a reality where Ben Franklin never betrayed Washington and he won the battle of Yorktown leading to the formation of a different country where Pendragon is."
That is when everything despite how crazy it sounds actually make sense to Lelouch. "American, before I lost consciousness Duke said he was Americam. That's your country isn't it? And having a jetpack, Britannia doesn't even have that kind of tech, most of you look Brtiannian but clearly aren't, it sounds crazy."
"Believe it or not we've seen some stuff just as crazy." Said Roadblock.
"We are G.I, Joe, America's daring highly trained anti-terrorism task force." Said Lady Jaye.
"Our mission is to defend freedom." Said Sergeant Slaughter.
"If you're an anti-terrorism unit than why are you in another universe?" asked Lelouch.
"We were fighting the most dangerous terrorist group from out universe called Cobra." Said Jinx.
"Yeah, their pretty bad, they once destroyed Moscow a city in Russia." Said Quick Kick. "And almost destroyed Paris."
Lelouch is shocked to know that a group of terrorist successfully destroyed a city and almost succeeded again.
"They built a machine that we think might have been designed to travel to other universes." Said Mainframe. "But at the time we thought it was a weapon of mass destruction so Duke blew it up."
"Then we were all teleported here." Finished Lady Jaye.
"But if you still need proof you can use your power on me, I told the other Joe's about your power and this would be a good demonstration." Said Duke.
"Very well." Said Lelouch you activates his power. "Is everything you said true."
"Yes." After Duke's answer Lelouch released him from his power. "Did it work?"
"You really don't remember anything?" asked Roadblock.
"Nothing." Said Duke hoping Lelouch didn't make him do anything embarrassing.
"So you can mind control others." Said Tunnel Rat in a way that shows he is distrusting of Lelouch, to be fair they've seen mind control used plenty of times by Cobra and it is never anything good.
"We should probably try to see what limits your power has so use it on me again." Said Duke.
"Okay, what is your real name?" asked Lelouch who activates his power.
Duke doesn't seem to be affected by Lelouch's power and just says: "I already told you its Conrad, wait is it not working?" he notices the look everyone is giving him including Lelouch.
"What why isn't it working?" asked Lelouch.
"Maybe you can only use it on a person once." Theorized Mainframe. "Okay try it on me two times to see if that is the case."
Lelouch activates his power to use on Mainframe. "What is your real name?"
This time it appears to be working. "My real name is Blaine Parker." Lelouch realizes him from his power.
"Okay what is a secret you've never told anyone?" asked Lelouch who tries to use his power on Mainframe again.
"Sorry that's personal." Said Mainframe.
"Looks like you were right, Lelouch can only use it on a person once." Said Lifeline.
"Okay now one thing I want to try, something, Snake-Eyes do you mind?" asked Duke.
Snake-Eyes nods yes.
"Okay, take off your mask." Said Lelouch activating his power on Snake-Eyes but doesn't seem to work.
"So I need to make physical eye contact as well." Said Lelouch. "I'm already thinking about how I can use this."
"Now there is one thing we want to now, why do you hate Britannia?" asked Lady Jaye.
Lelouch sadly sighs at the memory. "It began shortly after my mother's death…
Flashback…
"Announcing prince Lelouch Vi Britannia, 17th heir to the royal Britannian imperial throne." Announced as a child Lelouch tries his best to look intimidating and marches into confront his father. He could still hear the nobles whispers from that day.
"I heard empress Marianne was killed inside of the Britannian palace."
"There's no way terrorist could have gotten in there."
"That means that the real assassin must be…"
"Beware my friend, you'll regret it if anyone hears that kind of talk around the palace."
"And yet the boy remains even though his mother is dead."
"It's over and the Ashford family who stood behind them is finished as well."
"His sister the princess?"
"I understand she was shot in the legs and that she lost her sight."
"Blindness caused by trauma isn't it?"
"No difference, now she can't even be married off for political gain."
Lelouch finishes walking up to his father. "Hail your majesty, my mother the empress is dead."
Charles doesn't show any emotion from this news. "Old news what of it?"
Lelouch is offended by this comment. "What of it?"
"You sought an audience with the emperor of Britannian simply to inform me of that. Send the next one in I don't have time for these childish games."
Lelouch tries to run up to his father only to be blocked by spears from the royal guard. But Charles raises his hand and they stop and yell out "Yes your majesty!"
Furious Lelouch asks: "Why didn't you keep mother out of harms way? You're the emperor. The greatest man in this nation if not the world, you should have protected her and now you don't even visit Nunnally!"
"I have no use for that weakling."
Young Lelouch's eyes widen as he finally begins to realize something. "That weakling?"
"That is what it means to be royalty."
Lelouch looks like he is beginning to cry. "Then I don't want to be your heir, I give up my claim to the throne."
This causes serval gasp of all the nobles in the room.
"I'm sick of the fighting and scheming over who will succeed you father, I've had enough!" proclaimed Lelouch.
"You are dead. You have always been dead to me from the moment you were born. Who gave you the fine clothes you wear and comfortable home, the food you eat and your very life? All those I have given to you. In short you are nothing to me because you never existed, yet you dare to speak such foolishness to me." Charles rises from his throne frightening Lelouch. "Lelouch you are dead, therefore you are not entitled to any rights, I am sending you and Nunnally to Japan, as prince and princess you will serve well as bargaining tools."
End of Flashback…
"After that we were sent to Japan where I befriended Suzaku who Duke met at Shinjuku, those times were the happiest time of my life, until the war came and we were thought to have died, in a way we were and have used fake identities using our mother's maiden name and have been in hiding for seven years." When Lelouch finished his story he notices the faces of the Joe's except for Snake-Eye's. Duke's and Lady Jaye's are faces of sympathy. Mainframe and Lifeline are one's of disgust. While the rest are mixes of horror and anger.
"Lelouch I don't know what to say." Said Duke.
"I do." Said Jinx getting everyone's attention. "I say we teach that piece of shit a lesson."
"Agreed, I'll show him how I got the name Slaughter."
"And if any of his guardsmen stand in our way we'll kill them." Said Roadblock.
Lelouch is surprised that strangers who really have no stakes in Britannia or this world would care about him and be so willing to fight the most powerful man in the world after hearing what he and his sister went through but. "As great as that sounds, I only want my father and his empire destroyed, Britannia controls a third of the world if we completely destroyed it that would create chaos and many people would want to fight over the power vacuum, the royal family included."
The Joe's calm down when they realize that Lelouch has a point.
"You've thought about this haven't you?" asked Lady Jaye.
"My true goal is to find a way to make a better world for my friends and my sister so that there will be genuine peace, by taking down Britannia, so that a world where people will be seen as equals regardless of their race or if they're crippled. Not to destroy the world."
After hearing Lelouch's goals and how he clearly cares for his sister despite every horrible thing that has happened to him in his life the Joe's are impressed that his goal is simply to create a better world for his sister.
"Maybe you should join us then Lelouch." Said Duke. "We want Britannia destroyed for their crimes against humanity and you have proven to be a great strategist. And as much as we don't like it your friend Suzaku is the same age as you and able to join the military you would be able to as well, so what do you say?" Duke takes out his hand.
Lelouch grabs his hand and shakes it. "Very well I think this alliance would work out. I've got to head back."
"Where are you going, you and your sister must have somewhere to stay." Said Lady Jaye.
"We are students at Ashford Academy." Answered Lelouch.
"Wait before you go take this encase you need to contact us." Said Mainframe handing him an extra Coms set they had which Lelouch takes.
When Lelouch leaves the other Joes's look at Duke.
"So we're recruiting child soldiers now." Said Slaughter.
"I know this isn't ideal, but we all knew when we got here that we would fight Britannia and with Lelouch as an ally we have much better chances." Defended Duke. "Besides plenty of people lie about their ages to join the military."
"Are we forgetting about his power, Cobra has used mind control plenty of times, so we know how messed up it is. I have sympathy for want happened to him but what if he uses that power to have a slave army, or worse what if he ends up like Cobra Commander." Said Tunnel Rat. "I mean he had no problem trying to reveal Mainframe's deepest darkest secret."
Duke sighs. "I'm not oblivious to the possibility but still, Lelouch's anger at his father is understandable, but I think he genuinely wants to create a better world for his sister, maybe if is with us as confidants we can do our best to keep him on the straight and narrow."
Ashford Academy…
Lelouch is hit in the head by a rolled-up piece of paper from Milly. "Ow, what's that for Prez?"
"I'd say its karma for ditching me." Said Rivalz
"That's right, where were you?" asked Shirley.
Lelouch thinks to himself. 'Oh nothing, the multiverse is real and I met soldiers from a universe where Britannia doesn't exist but they have jetpacks, so no big deal, I can't believe I just thought of that sentence.'
"That's enough you guys. Let's not get sidetracked here, if we don't find a fix for the club activities budget, there won't be money left for anything at all." Said Milly.
"And when that happens…" muttered Nina.
"The equestrian club will be pissed, we don't want them coming in on horse back." Joked Rivalz.
"Rivalz can't you be a more serious student council member." Said Milly.
"It would have been nice of you if you had let us know about this a day ago." Shirley points out.
"I would have to say a day later then we would have given up." Said Rivalz.
"Good idea, we can still do that." Said Lelouch.
"GUTS!" yelled Milly to get their attention.
"Are you trying that guts spell again?" asked Rivalz.
"Yep I want you people to start putting your all into this." Said Milly.
"I really don't think that your magic is going to do a whole lot." Said Lelouch.
"Actually its got me going madame president." Said Shirley.
"Supple and willing, that's what I like."
"I train hard in the swim team." Said Shirley with a proud look on her face.
"That's not what I was getting at." Said Milly getting their attention. "You're a ten, from what I've seen in the girls bathroom you've been filling out in all the right spots."
Milly's comment causes Rivalz to laugh while Shirley blushes asking: "What are you talking about you perv."
Later…
"Our president is a dirty old man on the inside." Said Shirley.
"Yeah that's Milly for you." Said Nina.
"Yeah well, look on the Brightside we got the budget balanced didn't we." Stated Rivalz.
The three of them walk into class to see people talking about Shinjuku.
"No way they used poison gas."
"Man that's freaky, Shinjuku's only thirty minutes from here." Said a kid looking at a news report.
"Oh my god, I saw smoke rising over Shinjuku, it must have been the gas."
Lelouch walks into class following them behind.
"Are they saying anything else about it?"
"Hey check out the footage of those dead elevens."
"Ah don't look at them."
'This is strange, why would they cover it up?' thought Lelouch.
In a Limo driving through the settlement…
Jermiah Gottwalt and Villeta Nu are sitting in a limo deciding what to do about Prince Clovis' death.
"That ex-civil servant is such a fool." Said Jeremiah.
"So are you referring to Bartley?" asked Villeta.
"The killer has reached our heaviest security twice already." Jeremiah responded. "This perfunctory inspection is a farce."
Viletta looks at the Margrave with a mixed look. "Margrave Jeremiah, now that prince Clovis is out of the way, we purebloods can…" she is interrupted by Jeremiah putting his finger in front of her face as he smirks.
"Let me make that call. We still have to woo everyone over."
Ashford Academy…
Lelouch walks into his next class when he hears a girl say: "Kallen its been ages."
"Are you all right?"
"Sophie's been worried sick all this time."
"Your okay though right?"
Kallen answered: "Yeah, I just have to go easy for awhile." Then Lelouch noticed Kallen's face.
'Of course that's why she was familiar.' Thought Lelouch.
Talking to the group of girls Kallen said: "Anyway if I stay home away from school to long I'll never catch up."
Later Lelouch hides out in his room to contact the Joe's.
"I saw the girl piloting the Glasgow."
"I remember Nagata calling her Kallen." Said Duke.
"Same girl, I even remember her face."
Hearing this makes the Joe's wonder if Kallen is like Lelouch another Britannian who couldn't stand by while Britannia was ruining the world.
"I saw her in Shinjuku, her piloting skills her top notch." Said Quick Kick.
"Especially if she is using an older model." Said Jinx.
"You going to ask her to join us?" asked Lady Jaye.
"No, if she hates Britannia it would only complicate things if I reveal myself, I'm going to use my power to get answers out of her before we should consider her an asset."
"I think you mean ally Lelouch." Said Slaughter.
"Still if you do keep your com in your ear so we can hear." Said Mainframe.
"Before you do can you give us some information about Kallen?" asked Duke.
"Kallen Stadfeld. She has some kind of illness so she rarely shows up for class but still has excellent grades." Said Lelouch. "She's a member of the Stadfeld noble family and she apparently hates Britannia and is skilled in piloting Knightmares, but that's all I know about her."
"So she's girlfriend material." Joked Tunnel Rat.
"Ignore him." Suggested Lady Jaye. "Obviously she's faking being sick so finding out why she is fighting Britannia is important."
With that Lelouch went outside and conveniently a bee flew around causing Kallen and those girls to separate and Kallen. Kallen needing to keep up the image of a frail school girl asks: "Can I help you?"
Lelouch activates his power: "I want answers."
With her now under Lelouch's control she answers: "Of course."
"Were you the woman piloting the Glasgow I Shinjuku?" While Lelouch believes its her it never hurts to be thorough.
"Yes." Kallen bluntly answered.
"Now you can ask her why." Said Roadblock.
"Why terrorism?"
"Freedom fighting." Corrected the Joe's.
"Because I'm Japanese, although technically I'm half Britannian." Answered Kallen.
"Hey cool, I'm half Japanese myself, of course the other half is Korean but still, and she is a badass resistance fighter in a Knigthmare." Said Quick Kick hoping he'll get to meet Kallen in person, growing up it was difficult for him to fit in due to being bi-racial and is now hoping to talk to Kallen about her own experiences.
When Lelouch asks her more questions about her reasoning for fighting Britannia they learn about the death of Kallen's brother is why they were willing to go so far against Britannia is because he was the groups original leader was killed a few years ago by Brtiannian forces, hearing this the Joe's all have sympathetic looks realizing their own families probably think they are dead.
"Damm, that must have been horrible for Kallen to lose her brother." Said Quick Kick.
"I hope we find those specific bastards ourselves and teach them a lesson." Said Tunnel Rat.
After getting the information he needs Lelouch realises Kallen from his power.
"I noticed your not part of any club when looking at school records and all students and mandated to join a club so I was hoping to offer you a place in the student council because of your illnesses." Lelouch lies to cover him using his power on her.
"Ah I'll think about it." Said Kallen.
That is when Shirley walks in. "Hey Lulu! Kallen! You know its time to head over to the chem lab, you better get a move on."
"Ah crap! Its my turn to set up for class." Said Lelouch running off.
"I didn't think you took school seriously." Stated Jinx.
"I just needed a reason to leave, did the news say anything about Clovis?"
"Not yet." Said Mainframe. "Their probably looking for a fall guy since they can't find any of us."
"Makes sense, probably one of the honorary Britannian soldiers." Said Lelouch who thinks to himself. 'As much as I didn't want Suzaku to die there is comfort in his death knowing he won't blamed for something me and Duke did.'
Later at Night in the Ashford Academy Clubhouse…
"Well what should we do? He could he late again." Said Sayoko.
"I'll wait." Said Nunnally, Lelouch's sister. "He said that we'd have dinner together tonight."
Sayoko finishes folding up a piece of paper into a crane and lets Nunnally hold it to feel what it is. "A bird?"
"That's correct, it's a crane." Said Sayoko.
"That's amazing, the Japanese are so skill full."
Lelouch walks in. "I'm sorry I'm so late."
"Hell Lelouch, welcome home." Said Nunnally happy that her big brother is back from classes.
"Welcome home my lord." Said Sayoko.
"No place like it."
Clovis' Lab…
"As you know full well the project was a complete failure, therefore the research division is being gutted." Explained General Bartley.
This causes the scientist to gasp.
"But sir…"
"I've set a place in Narita for you. Move everything out there. While we may have no memory of it, the fact is the other staff officer's and I left prince Clovis on his own. I'm going to be called out on the carpet for this back home, when that happens, if his majesty learns of these experiments gone on without his knowledge…"
"Understood sir, we'll start prepping immediately." Said one of the scientists.
The lab has many different photos on the girl haired girl from Shinjuku and a boy with spikey white hair.
Ashford Academy Clubhouse home…
Lelouch is cutting up stake for dinner while Nunnally explains her day. "Miss Sayoko was just teaching me about the art of origami, fold a piece of paper the correct way and you can make birds, bugs, almost anything."
Nunnally spilled some of her soup on her face.
"Easy there, you don't have to tell me everything all at once you know." Said Lelouch who uses a napkin to wipe her face. "It's not like I'm going anywhere."
"Yeah your right thank you." Said Nunnally who similes.
Lelouch similes back at Nunnally. "Your very welcome."
"I'm so happy, you sacred me a little."
"Did I, I just have a lot on my mind is all." Said Lelouch looking down.
"Hey." This got Lelouch's attention. "They say if you fold a thousand of these cranes your wish will come true. So if there's anything at all you've been wishing for…"
Lelouch interrupts. "No, not really. What about you? Would you wish for anything?"
Nunnally thinks for a second before answering: "I wish the world was a gentler place."
"Well then, when the day comes that you can finally see again I'm sure that it will be." Said Lelouch.
"Really?"
"I promise." Said Lelouch who thinks: 'The truth is there are very few paths our future can take, the Ashford family is sheltering us for now, but how long can that last? If our identity is exposed even Rivalz, Shirley and the others will abandon us and I barley know the Joe's and can't trust Nunnally's safety in the hands of strangers. We'll end up as tools or casualties of royal ambition. I want to build a world where Nunnally can at least find happiness. I may not be able to trust them with her but right now the best way for me to achieve this is to work with the G.I. Joe's.'
Nunally pulled Lelouch's hand up and grabbed his pinky finger with hers.
"Sayoko taught me this the other day. Its called a Japanese pro mise." Explained Nunally. "Cross my heart, hope to die, eat a thousand needles if I lie. Pinky promise song."
"Well that's scary I may have to eat a thousand needles one day." Said Lelouch.
"That's right, so I better not catch you telling any lies okay?"
"Don't you worry I'll never lie I'll swear." Said Lelouch. 'At least not to you.'
The next day after class…
Lelouch quietly was able to head off to where the Joe's are based.
"Okay, are we able to contact Kallen yet?" asked Lelouch.
"Yep." Said Mainframe giving a thumbs up. "We should be able to contact her."
"So what are we going to contact her for anyway?" asked Roadblock.
"Simply, to have her and her comrades from Shinjuku join us." Responded Duke.
"And ready." Said Mainframe. As Kallen's phone is being called.
Kallen who is returning to her house although she wouldn't call it home just a place she lived in when she got a call on her phone, she doesn't recognize the number but figures it could be Oghi or the others using a burner phone.
"Hello?"
"Glad your still alive Q1." Said the mystery voice from Shinjuku causing Kallen's eyes to widen.
"Sixteen hundred hours the day after tomorrow. The observation deck at Tokyo Tower. Come alone."
"Who are you?! How did you arrange that seize fire order?!" asked/demanded Kallen but she was hung up. "Wait don't hang up!"
This just gets Kallen weird looks as she tries her best to walk away.
"There that's done." Said Lelouch.
"Good, hopefully the girl and her friends can help us." Said Roadblock.
Before Lelouch could leave Mainframe got an alert on his computer.
"What's wrong?" asked Lelouch.
"I made sure to have this old computer update for anything related to Clovis' death." Answered Mainframe.
"Play it." Ordered Duke.
