Chapter Six: - I Just Wanna Go Home, Guys
I'm shocked.
"Who knew someone as dumb as you could be a child of the wisdom goddess?" I mumbled, loud enough for Shreya to hear. She shot me a dirty look and smacked my arm.
"I mean, I knew it. You've always been a smartass." Sanha laughed.
"I wanted to be claimed first." Ritisha whined. Shreya rolled her eyes.
"Sucks to suck, I guess." She waved a hand through the hologram awkwardly, sitting at the Athena table with a few people I didn't know. Dionysus whispered excitedly to Chiron. The three of us sat at the Hermes table.
"I wonder which cabin I'll be in." Sanha sighed "With my luck, I'll end up in some minor god cabin. Is there a goddess of bad luck?"
"No, but there is a goddess of luck." Some camper beside her told.
'I still wanted to be claimed first." Ritisha sighed, sipping her blue cherry coke. A strange choice, but I knew it had something to do with PJO.
After stuffing our mouths with food, we got up. Chiron cleared his throat and addressed us. "Follow me." He said it in a way teachers would say 'detention'. The fire crackled in the fireplace of the Big House.
"Is this about the prophecy?" I asked, glancing between Dionysus and Chiron.
"…Yes." Chiron sighed. "I thought it might be a coincidence but…" He glanced at the wine god. "If you will, Mr D"
Dionysus grinned and cleared his throat.
"When the stars align at Camp's embrace,
Four children meet fate's cruel grace,
Athena's mind; keen as a blade,
Hades' shadows; unseen in shade,
Poseidon's waves; crash up high,
Aphrodite's charm; a sweet tongued lie.
Monsters arise from human's greed,
An ally plants betrayal's seed.
Their path shall lead to where trouble lies,
In the city under the western sky.
In their union, a power untold,
A tale of trouble or peace foretold."
There was silence.
"Did you seriously remember all that?" Shreya stared at him blankly.
"What? We gods have a lot of free time. Our Oracle's out of town, anyways." Dionysus sniffed.
"I'm a dummy, so I don't understand a thing." I shrugged.
"You're telling me there's a high chance we end up in a life-threatening quest?" Shreya raised an eyebrow.
"I wanna go on a quest and die!" Ritisha beamed.
"This is the sort of thing I did NOT want to do in Camp Half-Blood." Sanha was jittery, her eyes wide.
"For the first time, I agree with Ritisha. I really do wanna die." I rubbed my face, glancing at the other's panicked expressions. Dionysus sighed.
"We can't let them go alone, I suppose." Dionysus glanced at Chiron.
"Having more than three on a quest is unlucky enough already."
"I suppose we can wait until tomorrow. Some of the older campers are going to arrive, and you won't miss Capture the Flag." Chiron added. I took in a deep breath, calming my nerves.
"Alright." My voice was tense. "But before I die on this quest, can you give me a piggyback ride?"
Shockingly, he agreed. A lot of shocking things happened today, huh.
