Frost POV
Rush and his parents are going to some gaming centre and asked if me, Cream and Doll wanted to go, of course we said yes. When we got there we saw games of all types everywhere, there was even the questionable types of games in a completely separate room. Rush took us over to the VR section where anyone could play popular games. The one he wanted to play was called 'Dungeon Crusade'. Me and Rush walked into the room where it could be played, there were two screens and two pod looking things.
"How advanced does this have to be? It's a VR game, I'm pretty sure building a rocket would be less complicated then this." What I was referring to were the pods, you step in and you can control your character with your mind... I don't understand.
"It has to be the best experience I guess..." Doll wasn't sure about this either. Rush walked up to the one on the right.
"What are you waiting for? Let's play!" Rush does love his video games.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm coming." I got in the one on the left and we booted it up.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I opened my eyes to see a small room. I looked at myself to see a bag slung over my shoulder, knee and elbow pads and a dagger on my side.
"This is so cool!" I turned around to see Rush with the same pads, but he had two swords on his back and a small bag on his hip.
"Rush, why are we wearing this?"
"You can choose your own class, but I had to pick yours too. I chose the 'Elemental Swordsman' and you are the 'Shadow Theif'!" I don't know what that means, but I guess it's good.
"Okay... so where do we go?" He looked around and saw a cracked wall.
"Maybe we can get through there!" I nodded and walked up to the wall, I tried using Mega Punch, but nothing happened and my hand just hurt.
"What the hell? Why can't I use Mega Punch?" I saw Rush roll his eyes.
"We're in a game, you can't use your moves, we have to use our in game abilities." I backed up as he walked over. He took out a sword, opened his bag and stuck the blade inside. It came out on fire and he slashed at the wall, breaking it.
"Played this before?" I asked as he scratched his head.
"Maybe." And we walked through the newly made hole.
Doll POV
We all watched as Frost and Rush were playing, but I was getting bored standing in the same spot.
"Hey Cream, wanna go find something to play ourselves?" She nodded and we set off for something to play.
Frost POV
We suddenly appeared in a dungeon. Text appeared above us, it read 'Floor 1/50'.
"Fifty floors? Really?" Rush took a step back.
"It was the lowest amount, believe me." I sighed and we got moving. I looked around and saw a Caterpie moving over to us. This is the first enemy? I knelt down and stabbed it with my dagger. I turned my head to Rush.
"I'm not impressed."
"This is one of the hardest games to date, so don't think it's gonna be easy because of the first enemy." I was about to reply before we heard flapping. Out came a giant Butterfree, above its head was a massive health meter and stamina bar... I stand corrected.
"Rush, how exactly am I supposed to use my abilities?"
"I don't know, I've never played Shadow Theif before." Oh great. We are so dead. The Butterfree let out a cloud of spores that took a bit of its stamina bar away.
"Frost! Don't breath in the spores or you'll be poisoned!" I jumped away before the spores reached me. Rush took out his swords and lit them on fire, he then slashed the air, sending a blast of fire into the spores. The spores exploded and took a fourth of the Butterfrees health. I decided I'd find out what I could do and ran towards it with my dagger out. I jumped and slashed at it, but before I slashed I noticed the daggers edge was shrouded with shadows and was much sharper then before. That took a nice amount of health off the Butterfree.
"Nice attack Frost!" Rush yelled as he came down with a water and fire sword. The swords shot a jet of scolding water when slashed at the same time. The Butterfree was burnt and soaking wet, so Rush shoved both his swords into his bag and they came out with electricity running through them. He stabbed the boss and it died instantly.
"Damn... it died fast." Rush put his swords away as I put my dagger back in its leather home.
"I soaked it in water which caused the electricity to do a lot more damage, that and the burns it got took it down in no time."
"How much time have you sunk into this game?" He puffed out his chest.
"Eighty six hours and I am one of the best players in our region!" Holy shit.
"Anyway, we should get going to the next floor, there's a boss on each floor and they only spawn when all the enemies are dead." I nodded and we continued on.
Doll POV
I found another VR game with two players. It's a horror game, but I doubt I'll be scared by it, Cream wanted to play it too. It couldn't be that bad, right?
Frost POV
We got through a few more floors and we were now on floor eight. There were Onix everywhere! Rushs fire and lightning swords did nothing against them and I couldn't do anything but use the items we found earlier. I was cornered by three Onix while Rush was fighting five. I closed my eyes and waited for a game over, but nothing happened. I opened my eyes to see the Onix look around and turn to join the others against Rush. I looked at myself and saw I was invisible. I'm guessing this is another one of my abilities. Rush was getting his lights knocked out so I ran over to help. I took out the TNT we found on the last floor, lit the fuse and threw it into the group of Onix. I turned visible, grabbed Rush and ran. The TNT exploded and the Onix were gone. I set Rush down.
"That was rough." He rubbed his arm.
"There's still the boss." He sighed in disappointment. We turned around when we heard something big and heavy sliding across the ground. The boss was a Steelix, a giant, powerful boss with high defence. It had a mega stone in its chest.
"What difficulty did you set this to?"
"I set it to hard..." We are fucked.
Doll POV
I lost Cream. We're in a haunted house with... something trying to get rid of us. I've been walking around for a bit before I saw her.
"Cream, where were you? I've been looking... everywhere..." she turned around, it wasn't Cream. It had no eyes, mouth sewed shut and a dent in its head with blood spewing out. I ran away and it chased me!
———————————————————
Frost POV
I was thrown against the wall and Rush was getting slammed into everything around the mega Steelix. I started digging through my bag, looking for anything that could help. I found a red gem shard, it's a power boost! I went invisible and ran over to Rush, who was currently lying in a small crater a good ways away from the mega Steelix.
"Rush, get up and use this." He looked at the shard and got up, I gave it to him and ran over to distract the Steelix. I ran in a circle around it and went in and out of invisibility, completely confusing it. Rush jumped in front of it and slashed at it with both wind and water. He eventually beat the Steelix. I walked over and grabbed the mega stone it dropped when it died.
"We can sell that at the shop for items, we can visit the shop every ten floors." Good to know. We got through the other two levels with difficulty, but we got to the shop. The shopkeeper was a delibird. We sold whatever we didn't need and got more stat boosters and healing items. We headed back into the dungeon when we finished.
Doll POV
I died. I got out of my pod and watched Cream play. She got scared a lot, almost caught by the... thing, but she was able to complete the objectives and send the creature back where it came from. The screen turned to black and the text 'the end?' appeared on screen. Cream got out of her pod.
"That was very stressful and scary. Let's go back and see how Frost and Rush are doing."
"Yeah, if they're still playing." And we walked back.
———————————————————
Frost POV
Rush wasn't lying, this game is hard. We just barely got through four more floors. We are on the fifteenth now. We walked around for a bit, but didn't see any enemies or even the boss. I turned a corner and found a slot machine. Rush turned a bit pale as the slot machine started spinning.
"Rush? What's wrong?" He slowly turned to me.
"Every fifteen floors there's a slot machine that decides if you either fight waves and waves of enemies, two bosses or a legendary Pokémon." My eyes widened when hearing that. Shit. Wouldn't you know it, the slots stopped on a legendary... game over...
"Oh no..." Rush looked like he was about to pass out. We heard a loud roar coming from above the ceiling. Yveltal came crashing through!
"We have to fight Yveltal?! How is this fair?!" I yelled over the sound of rocks crashing onto the ground and Yveltals roars. I immediately dug up two of each boost shard and handed half to Rush. He took them and we quickly equipped them, but they only last for ten minutes. I took out the throwing knives I bought, used my ability to sharpen them and threw them at Yveltal to at least try to bring it down. Rush used the boiling water conducter strategy, but that and my knives didn't do much except piss it off. It fired a massive beam at Rush which completely disintegrated him. I turned invisible and hid somewhere to think of a strategy.
"Rush is done and I'm most likely next unless there's some weak spot it has. Who am I kidding? I can't beat Yveltal by myself!" I peaked around the corner, still invisible. I thought 'fuck it' and ran over. It was flying kind of close to the ground and there were giant rocks all around it, then I got an idea. I ran over to one of the rocks and took out some knives, sharpened them and began climbing. Once I got to the top I waited for Yveltal to fly close to the rock I was on. When it was I jumped from the rock onto its head and took out my dagger. It tried shaking me off, but I stabbed the dagger into it, which made it fall onto the ground desperately trying to shake me off. I jumped to its face and stabbed both its eyes, then it started firing its beam everywhere. I jumped away and rocks completely crushed it. I beat Yveltal, but I don't think I can go any further without Rush, so I quit the game.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I climbed out of my pod to find Rush squealing with happiness as everyone else was standing behind him.
"Frost! That was awesome! I've never seen anyone beat Yveltal like that!"
"Can you not hug me Damnit?!" Everyone was laughing at us. At least I had fun, even it was kind of stressful.
